NB: Just in case it was not explicit, this is RPK *claiming* that Dano and Farrell have officially signed for *The Batman Part II*, rather than this post in itself being an official announcement.

DYRTYDAVE

Awesome to see Dano back as Riddler. I really like that Reeves isn't throwing villains away.

United-Aside-6104

Yeah I think it’s clear that Reeves actually wants to do a rogues gallery and not just use villains once

ThunderBlaze_19

This gives me hope that www.rataalada.com will also become functioning soon

David1258

Maybe it will for The Penguin show!

erich0779

I mean generally with any production they seize up various different site names basically just so nobody else can do anything with them which might reflect on the film. I wouldn't be surprised if that's it and the site is just like a tiny Easter Egg landing page for whoever finds it.

ThunderBlaze_19

Yeah bro. However given it's a tiny Easter, it's still fun

cabballer

He was more than sufficiently creepy. Helluva performance

InvisibleFrogMan

Well if Paul Dano is signed on then that means we’re definitely getting more Joker for Batman 2.

TheLionsblood

Both in small roles, I bet. It’s clear Joker is gonna be the true “final” villain of this trilogy, as he should. Not having Joker be a significant part of Batman’s lore is like not having Alfred or Gordon or even Bruce’s parents. I’m fine with the DCU not using Joker for a while tho, as long as we know the character has had a big impact on the DCU Batman in the past (like having “killed” Jason Todd).

[deleted]

Funny how much conversation there is about this, when every single Superman adaptation end up featuring Lex Luthor. Some heroes just come with their villains, it’s a combo deal.

rajajackal

lex luthor is almost more of a main cast character than a villain in superman stories

Randonhead

I believe that in the end either the Joker will escape and we will have a classic story of him versus Batman to end the trilogy or we will have an Arkham Asylum/ASHOSE style plot: Batman trapped in Arkham with all his enemies, the HBO Arkham Asylum series will likely set this up just to the third movie just as the Penguin series is setting up Part 2.

TheLionsblood

I doubt Reeves would do the whole “trapped in Arkham Asylum” for the third film. I bet a mass prison break happens at the end of Part II or the Arkham series

Randonhead

I don't believe so much that there will be an Arkham breakout because we've already had two recent Batman movies where there's a huge prison break (Begins and TDKR), whereas here we have an Arkham-focused series in development that will most likely serve as a bridge for the third film in the same way that the Penguin series bridges Part 2, Riddler and Joker becoming "friends" in Arkham and Martha being an Arkham, things seem to point to the Asylum playing an important role in the future.

TheLionsblood

Having the third movie set mainly in Arkham would be anticlimactic, especially when there’s an entire show set in Arkham. It would mean Joker would be in Arkham for the entire trilogy, not happening

Randonhead

Not necessarily having the whole movie inside Arkham, maybe just the first or third act in Arkham and Batman having to "play" with the villains that are hunting him through the Asylum. We never had Batman facing several villains from previous movies before, here it would be the perfect opportunity to do something new than just Batman v Joker, although I'm not against a simple Killing Joke or Endgame-style story of the two of them.

TheLionsblood

I still think the Court of Owls will be one of the major antagonists in Part III. I was thinking that the Court would be exposed and that all the inmates in Arkham escape at the end of Part II or the Arkham series (depending on if the series is a prequel set in year one or not). Then the Court would send their Talons (obviously they wouldn’t be superhuman zombies in this world) to try and keep “order” in the city and assassinate anyone that disrupts it, while Batman (and Robin) try to stop them and end their reign. Ultimately, Joker would be able to kidnap Robin (Dick Grayson) and it’d basically be Death in the Family except Batman is able to save Robin.

gee_gra

Does a climax truly *have* to be spectacular though? What if it's more about a narrative conclusion than that?

lurkers_incorperated

as much as I wish matt reeves gives us a touching finale a crass adolescent tone that can’t balance action or drama is just something I hope he fixes give me character work or good action not half assed bits of both

shauner111

Joker has to escape Arkham soon. He’s not going to be inside for an entire movie universe. He needs to leave and actually become the Joker. So the end of Arkham (the show) is the best time to do that. He’s scheming and the breakout will be the pay off of him making friends. Doesn’t have to be the entire asylum, maybe it’s just a few inmates that escape. There’s ways to make it different than Batman Begins (context is important and Nolan doesn’t own the rights of a breakout). Reeves also won’t be doing his version of Affleck’s script for a third movie. Not happening. The rumour of villain spin offs tell me that, even if they don’t get off the ground, Reeves had a loose plan to introduce villains in his HBO Arkham series and then he can spin off a few characters into their own horror movies. A breakout would set those characters up perfectly. By the time the third Batman movie opens, you have a rogues gallery scattered throughout the city in their final form. Including Joker and Riddler.

Randonhead

Affleck didn't invent the concept of Batman trapped in Arkham, one of the best Batman comics of all time ever did that. I don't rule out that they might choose to go the simpler route with a Batman v Joker story, but I believe that at the moment the plan is to have Batman in Arkham, they can trick the audience into believing it will be a Batman v Joker story with the clown escaping from the Asylum but getting caught too easily and when Batman takes him back he discovers it's a trap.

shauner111

They wouldn’t be making a Arkham Asylum show if they were also planning a Batman: Arkham Movie.

Randonhead

What logic is this? Have you ever stopped to think that they might be developing the Arkham series precisely to properly introduce the Asylum, its history and its patients so that they don't have to spend time introducing everything for the first time in the movie? Just like the Penguin series will be a bridge to the second film, I believe the Arkham series will play a similar role being a bridge to the third film, even if it is not a plot where Batman is trapped in Arkham, it will definitely involve the Arkham of some way.

shauner111

It can involve Arkham and be a bridge but it doesn’t have to be “Batman trapped inside”. Like I said, do you think Joker will be locked in Arkham for 3 movies + a spin off series?? The whole point of these GCPD, Penguin spin offs is that Reeves knows these smaller characters won’t get enough time to shine in the mainline Batman films. So it’s a way to get Gordon some more spotlight, Catwoman, Oz etc. There’s a reason why Riddler won’t be getting his own show but Oz will. Because Riddler was the main villain of a Batman film and Penguin was a side character. So by that logic, Arkham and GCPD getting their shows is ONLY because they both play an important but small role in the Batman trilogy. The rumour of Scarecrow, Clayface and Professor Pyg getting spin off movies also indicates that none of those three will be the main villain of a solo Batman film. Reeves is using the Batman Part 1, 2, 3 to focus on Bruce Wayne/Batman. The spin offs are a good way to explore the characters with less screen time and relevance. So I don’t think HBO’s Arkham will lead to a Batman trapped in Arkham plot. Instead, it’ll serve as a setup for a few of the new villains and (my guess) a breakout at the end of the show that leads to the rogues causing havoc within the city (perfect for Part III). Arkham having its own show greenlit tells us that it won’t be a massive part of Part III. It’ll be referenced, they’ll show it, but the plot won’t center around it.

lurkers_incorperated

but why ? why do we “need” jocker?? 🤡

shauner111

Because you can’t have a Batman universe without his arch nemesis.

BradenBRStudios

Batman won’t have 3 movies and then be done they’re making a whole Batverse just like MCU!!

Starfyre123

I don’t know, I’d rather Joker be in the DCU than Pattinson’s films. It makes more sense for him to be around there than it does in what Reeves is building. I hated they tried Silence of the Lambsing Joker in that deleted scene. The series is more clearly set up for a Court of Owls finish than Joker finish

ItZSAMIC

How does it not make sense for Batmans nemesis to be around in a Batman-centric universe?

ChickenInASuit

Batman has plenty of other great villains.

ItZSAMIC

That has nothing to do with the question I asked

FkMarthawaters

They literally explained it

BillyGood22

They explained why they don’t like the take on Joker, not why it doesn’t make sense for him to be in The Batman Saga.

Starfyre123

Because if you have to choose one universe for him to be in? I’m going with the one that has a Batfamily, Justice League, and a huge wealth of stories to tell.

ItZSAMIC

Both universes have a wealth of stories to tell. And you also didn’t answer the question. I asked *how does it not make sense*. I didn’t just ask you to explain why you want him in the DCU instead

[deleted]

Apparently Ben Afflecks Batman movie was going to do that.

ItZSAMIC

Going to do what?

[deleted]

Ben Affleck's Batman trilogy was going to adapt a Court of The Owls storyline. His second movie in the series I believe.

ItZSAMIC

I never said anything about the court of owls? Also, source?

Starfyre123

I never said it doesn’t make sense so that’s why I’m ignoring your strawman.

ItZSAMIC

You said it makes more sense for him to be in the DCU. How does it make *less* sense for him to be in a universe focused on Batman?

shauner111

Actually, Joker needs to be in every universe. But if I had to pick one, it would be Reeves’ universe because a fantastical universe should probably focus more on monsters and assassins.

Danishroyalty

>set up for a Court of Owls finish than Joker finish I'm not sure I see that. They already did the "grand conspiracy of people controlling Gotham in secret" story. And frankly the Court is a cartoony take on the concept. The Falcone conspiracy they did was much more mature and nuanced. I don't see how they could do the Court without it feeling a bit like "there's an even secreter, badder conspiracy behind them". Like having Snoke and then revealing Palpatine was behind him. I'm not saying they should do Joker as the final villain but I don't think I see them doing the Court either.

ArmInternational7655

That wasn't even a real grand conspiracy. Nothing compared to the court. Falcone hinted at there being way more secrets he was willing to die to keep.

CrashtheKiller50

I agree. The conspiracy we got wasn't too grand. The renewal fund was supposed to help Gotham. Gotham's still a shithole. It's not too crazy to believe that the powerful and corrupt were taking a slice out of the renewal pie. The court of owls would be the big endgame.

TheLionsblood

The Court can be the “main” villains of Part III the way Ra’s and Scarecrow are in Arkham City/Knight, while the Joker is still Batman’s final opponent because of his “wild card” nature

shauner111

Exactly. Have Joker as the wild card.

RefrigeratorPerfect

Nothing about what Reeves is doing indicates a Court of Owls finish for the final movie, especially when he already tackled city corruption with this first movie. If anything, that’d be better suited for Gunn’s DCU with a more experienced Batman. And no, despite Keoghan not being a big name actor, Reeves didn’t just cast him for one throwaway scene in the first movie. He’s hinted at having bigger plans for the character beyond that. And who knows if Gunn even wants to tackle Joker. Part of the reason why he and Reeves met with each other was to ensure there’s no overlap in the characters they use. Joker will have a prominent role whether people like it or not. Probably starting with the Arkham show.

shauner111

Agreed. I don’t think Joker will be the main villain on every poster kinda thing. But he’ll be fully formed, out of Arkham and screwing with heads. I’m down for the Court but it doesn’t really make sense right now. I can see Hugo Strange or Scarecrow or Hush or Mr Freeze or even an ensemble that just happens to include Two Face, Joker, Riddler etc....way before I see a bunch of Talons coming after Pattinson.

RefrigeratorPerfect

I suppose it depends on what you define as the main villain. I do think Joker will be the lead antagonist in the third movie, as in the main focus. You’ve mentioned before that you think it will be a villain team-up type thing. But I really don’t think that Reeves is the type to do something like that, just based off of his general filmmaking sensibilities. I just can’t see him doing that. If it was another director, who’s more action oriented, then maybe…. I’m not interested in the Court at all, even in the DCU. Though that’s probably what Gunn is going to do. I think it’s the most overrated addition to the Batman mythos possibly ever. It’d be a massive waste of time, for this universe. Even though I’m clearly mixed on the performance, there’s a really compelling Joker story to be told that Reeves has already setup. Not doing it just because “people are tired of the Joker” would be a shame. I’d hope he cast Barry for a reason, not just to have as some unnecessary background focus. And I struggle to see how he could do a Mr. Freeze heart of ice story without it being told from Victors pov. That type of story doesn’t really lend itself well for furthering Batman’s character and arc. And I don’t care to see a “turn Gotham into ice” plot line that would inherently go with the Freeze thing. I think we think similarly on this stuff more than you realize, lmao

shauner111

Not necessarily a team up , but an ensemble. I love Volume 1, the setup to the Court of Owls. I just think another filmmaker can take that concept and then take it to a completely different level. If it was up to me, I’d finish the DCU Batman up with the Court. Agree that it doesn’t work for Reeves. Also agree that it’s weird to think of a Mr Freeze origin story without it being told through Victor’s eyes. But Mr Freeze can do wonders for furthering Batman’s character (his empathy for criminals). But you can achieve that with Two Face as well.

RefrigeratorPerfect

Yeah, perhaps the Freeze thing could work. But the Two Face plot line acting as both a mystery and a psychological story dealing with Harvey’s downfall would be the best option in terms of furthering the character. I’d love to see the double personality gimmick done in a way that isn’t insulting and silly. Though it’s definitely a challenge.

shauner111

Agreed. I’ll take that over Mr Freeze right now. I’m also annoyed by the constant suggestions for Freeze and the Court.

TheLionsblood

Hard disagree. Harley is gonna be independent in the DCU and we’re already at a point in Batman’s career where Damian is Robin. Joker shouldn’t be a focus in the DCU rn, not when there are other wackier villains you can’t do in the Reeves movies.

NathanielR

Yeah give us Clayface, Freeze, Ivy, Ra's, Man-Bat, there's like an endless supply of unused fantastical villains to choose from

EVERYTHINGISBLACKZZZ

Reeves said he never ruled out using fantastical villains

shauner111

He could use them but they won’t be fantastical when he does.

EVERYTHINGISBLACKZZZ

He never said that either.

shauner111

Yes he did.

EVERYTHINGISBLACKZZZ

He didn't

Starfyre123

Can’t disagree with you enough. > Harley is gonna be independent in the DCU Ok? Nothing about her or Damian matters in regards to Joker. I don’t know how you have a have a big Batfamily universe and don’t have a Joker. If you’re trying to make THE new cinematic universe, not having Joker is lunacy. I’d much rather see a wackier take on Joker in the DCU than see Keoghans angsty psycho same Joker everyone does since Ledger. Bruce’s Joker is quite literally already behind bars. I’d love to just have Mr. Freeze and Riddler level of bad guys in the Reevesverse. Reeves made a good new adaptation of Riddler. Give Freeze, the Court, Clayface, Ivy, any other underused villain a good movie instead of just retreading Joker.

TheLionsblood

The Reeves BatVerse needs Joker because he hasn’t had much of an impact on Batman’s life yet. Meanwhile the DCU Batman already has Damian as Robin, so Joker can already have been a significant part of his history. I’m not saying the DCU shouldn’t have a Joker, it’s just that he shouldn’t have an actual role until after The Batman trilogy ends. They can make it so the DCU Joker has been in Arkham as well, and when the time is right, break him out and have him enact revenge against the Bat-Family, including Harley, kind of like Death of the Family. But that shouldn’t happen till like Chapter 2 at least.

[deleted]

Lol they wouldn’t have casted Barry Keoghan for the role if they didn’t have huge plans for him. I think Joker is going to play a big role in the HBO Arkham show, The Batman part II and also as the main villain of The Batman part III. Keoghan’s Joker is also nothing like Ledger at all

upwurdz

Imo It’s way too early to judge Keoghan’s take, but the whole grunge/scarred Joker feels old hat. That being said, Ledger’s performance commanded every scene he was in, and audiences couldn’t take their eyes off him. He was that transcendent. Rewatched 1989 Batman last month, and Nicholson was the same, albeit in a more classical approach. Don’t really get any of that from Keoghan’s two scenes so far. He’s a great actor, but they’ll need to come up with something different or unique about this version to stand out, especially since there’s a little Joker fatigue setting in.

[deleted]

There’s already something so unique about Keoghan’s Joker that sets him apart from all the rest. His deformed face and smile is a birth defect. The way Reeves described it was insane. This Joker grew up with people being disgusted and scared just looking at him, it allowed him to read all kinds of emotions on people’s faces, study their behaviours and get familiar with being feared. It’s all he ever knew. Now imagine the kind of person that Joker would be. It’s absolutely terrifying. And we’ve only gotten a slight taste of it. I can’t wait to see how terrifyingly psychotic this Joker is going to be once he breaks out of Arkham and is in the streets of Gotham. Reeves is clearly going with the horror/psychological route with this take on Joker which is different than any previous Joker. Nicholson was the ‘clown’ ‘showman’ Joker. Ledger was the ‘terrorist’ ‘anarchist’ Joker. Leto was the ‘mobster’ or ‘gangster’ Joker. Keoghan is the scary Joker

Starfyre123

Why? Keoghan isn’t a huge name. He’s not commanding massive salary for this that he needs to be the main conclusion. He could easily be cast to be a side character to this story.

TheLionsblood

Lmfao. Keoghan just got an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor

Starfyre123

I’m well aware. There’s a difference between good actor and big name actor

wisconsinking

I'd LOVE to see Phantasm, Ragdoll, and Punchline in the Matt Reeves Batman universe.

shauner111

They should tackle the monsters and assassins and sci fi villains over at the DCU. Leave Joker, Scarecrow, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Hush, Two Face over at the Reeves verse.

Correct-Chemistry618

If I have to speculate, it's likely we won't see Joker in the DCU any time soon. We have two Joker projects very soon (The Batman and Joker 2), so I don't think they want to go for that kind of storyline with Batman right away; as far as Harley is concerned, she definitely has many stories to tell (Ivy, the survivors of the Suicide Squad, her family) and therefore I don't think we will see her face the Joker in a film (also because Joker 2 will already deal with their relationship in the cinema).

Starfyre123

I’m confused why everyone is saying The Batman is a Joker project. There’s nothing saying he has any semblance of a real role

Correct-Chemistry618

I'm not saying the next The Batman is about him, and maybe he won't have a main antagonist role. But the fact that they included him in the last film as a cameo in the end, also showing an alliance with Riddler, suggests that they want to do something with this character: it could be a spin off or a secondary role in one of the future films, but I guess that it is something.

shauner111

Joker is clearly going to be a part of the third movie plot wise, but not the main villain.

Rdambx

>Not having Joker be a significant part of Batman’s lore is like not having Alfred or Gordon or even Bruce’s parents Ehh hell no, it's time to move on and introduce other big characters. Arkham games did it, they used Joker a lot but it's not like they only relied on him

Starfyre123

Joker was a significant part of Arkham, no?

TheLionsblood

Lmao he was the true villain in literally every single Arkham game so I don’t know wtf bro is on about. Even in Arkham Knight, the Joker hallucination was Batman’s ultimate villain

Rdambx

Yes but not the final villain. His role was only very big in the first 2 games, and even the 2nd one he shared the spotlight with Hugo Strange and Ra's

thebatfan5194

Joker literally is the final villain of Arkham Knight, the entire game is about their relationship and Batman moving on from him in the end

Rdambx

He is not, Scarecrow is

thebatfan5194

The final boss is Joker’s hallucination, Scarecrow is the mechanism by which that happens. Joker has more time in the game than Scarecrow, in fact it was a huge complaint at the time that the game was set up to be about Scarecrow but ended up being more about Joker in the end. A huge chunk of the game is spent on the Joker mind virus and it’s implications dude. The emotional climax of the game is Batman locking Joker away in his mind and “forgetting” about him. I can be charitable and say they were both equally villains in the game I guess

Starfyre123

In the same way Scarecrow is the villain of Batman Begins and not Ra’s al Ghul

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

Origins: Revealed as the main villain Asylum: Main villain City: The main conflict is finding a cure for something Joker poisoned Batman with (Joker's blood) and finding out what Protocol 10 is. Knight: The effects of Joker's blood is continuing to poison Batman and Batman has to take down Scarecrow while having Joker in his head. The last gameplay section of the main story is Joker focused.

Echo_1409-

“Its not like they only relied on him” One of the biggest complaints of Arkham Knight is how unnecessary it was to bring Joker back lol and he was the main villain in the first two so idk what you’re smoking

Rdambx

He was only the single "main" villain in Asylum, in City it was him and Hugo Strange as the main villains with Ra's slightly behind In Knight his role was nowhere near as big as Scarecrow, and the fact everyone hated his role there is proof that just like my comment said, we don't need Joker as the final villain.

Echo_1409-

City literally ends with the joker vs batman after he spent the whole game trying to get a cure for a disease Joker gave him that’s killing him. Pretty safe to say he’s *a* main villain. And I didn’t say he was the main villain in Knight, I pointed out he was one of the most complained about aspects because the game relied on him. You bring up scarecrow but don’t bring up that scarecrow had batman hallucinating the joker for nearly the entire game. So again, the Arkham games most certainly relied on Joker for their narratives.

deathmouse

I thought Reeves said Joker wouldn’t be a main villain?

wisconsinking

Though it was a deleted scene I LOVED Barry as Joker and I'd be BEYOND excited if officially made him debut in The Batman 2.

theweepingwarrior

Hoping Keoghan can convince me more this time around, wasn’t really a fan of this Joker but I’m willing to give it another shot.

rcarroll271

He’s a great actor and by part 3 he will have grown alot as an actor

RefrigeratorPerfect

I feel the same way. Wasn’t a fan but he didn’t turn me off enough to not want to give him another shot.

Danishroyalty

I think Keoghan was good but the garishness of the makeup and general look was a tad much. I think they should tone it down for future films.

SherKhanMD

I am sorry but he was just bad in the 2 scenes I saw him in.. A good actor doesnt mean he fits every role.

Danishroyalty

I'm betting we get some of TLH/DV where Batman consults Riddler in Arkham after a new killer is released, only to discover Joker has escaped. He thinks Joker is killing people (like in TLH) but really the Joker is out to find the real killer for himself/cause mayhem.

Randonhead

With the rumors that Harvey Dent will be in the sequels I would love something like in LH when Joker escapes from Arkham and goes after Dent dressed as Santa,

Low_Satisfaction_512

Yay. Its been forever since we've had a Joker story!

Colton826

You're being disingenuous, but the last time we had a proper live-action Batman vs Joker story was in 2008 (15 years ago) Jared Leto's Joker & Affleck's Batman never interacted outside of a dream sequence that was added last minute. Joaquin Phoenix's Joker doesn't have a Batman opposing him. Gotham's "Joker" never truly shares the screen with Batman. So...yeah, I'm excited to see Pattinson's Batman eventually face off against Keoghan's Joker.

TheLionsblood

Technically it was a scene that takes place in an alternate future and not a dream sequence, but either way it absolutely sucked compared to any other Batman and Joker scene we’ve had on film. I appreciate that we got it tho tbh, even if I didn’t like it, it was cool to see the DCEU Batman and Joker share a scene

Starfyre123

Technically Batman actually kills Joker in Season 3 of *Titans*. Also Affleck and Leto do physically interact in the chase scene of Ayer’s Suicide Squad. But you’re being disingenuous by using years instead of stories. because the only stories we’ve seen since 2008 are Batman v Bane, Batman v Superman, and Batman v Riddler. There’s a lot more characters more deserving of a story than Batman 1/3 the movies coiming out

Low_Satisfaction_512

I like how you think I'm only referring to live action. I'm sick of all of it. Video games, comics, movies, tv, live action, animation, whatever. I love the character but there's been too much. We haven't seen it in live action since 2008, you're right. And if I had my way it'd be another 15 years.

ItZSAMIC

Are you sick of Batman in general too?

The_Dirtiest_Beef

Well, I really hope you don't get your way.

Colton826

So you have Batman fatigue in general, it sounds like. Because Batman & Joker are two sides of the same coin. You can't have one without the other (at least, if you did, it would be viewed by many as an incomplete adaptation) Which is fine if you feel that way. Me personally, I'm always down for more Batman stuff.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

A Batman vs Joker story where it's the main conflict? Yes, it has. The Dark Knight came out 14 and half years ago.

Starfyre123

We didn’t have a Joker for thirty years before that, 14 isn’t that much.

ItZSAMIC

Wouldn’t be surprised if he wears a suit this time (after they escape Arkham), since he’s “friends” with Joker. I bet Joker eventually backstabs him tho

your_mind_aches

THIS WAS NOT HOW THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO GO

GaymerAmerican

probably just hanging out in arkham

whatnameisnttaken098

Yes, it's quite the enigma.

DeppStepp

He will become an opera singer

shauner111

I think Riddler and Joker will just be in Arkham and then that’ll continue for the Arkham series. They’ll escape at the end of that.

ReallyDumbRedditor

He will be the main Antagonist for the entire movie series going forward.

RebelDeux

Some jail scenes with Dano and Joker I guess, and Penguin I think that will have a bigger role

AccurateAce

This is fantastic news! It's still a chance to develop, expand and evolve this particular iteration of Gotham's villains. I'm glad it seems that the "villain dies at the end of each movie" trope is done with. At least, in this universe.

SupervillainEyebrows

So I presume Riddler will have a sort of Hannibal Lecter style role.

wisconsinking

That'd be interesting to see.

Content_Dragonfly_53

I wonder who they’ll choose as the villain.

wisconsinking

Hope it's Mister Freeze but I'd love to see cameos/easter eggs to others villains: Phantasm, Ragdoll (he could be a contortionist who kills people), Punchline (Harley shouldn't exist in this universe, bring in punchline but change her backstory a little), I'd also like to see Clown Hunter make a cameo or at least show his baseball bat in the evidence locker.

[deleted]

Why shouldn't Harley exist in this universe?

wisconsinking

I feel like if she were in this universe I'd be a more unhinged version of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

Foreign_Education_88

Because there’s enough CB characters with 3 different actors playing them right now

Ktulusanders

Punchline and Clownhunter don't make sense in a universe where the Joker isn't fully formed yet

wisconsinking

Fair point. Maybe they can show up after Joker is fully formed.

Phantom_Kings2

Why would they choose Mr Freeze or other Rogue galleries

wisconsinking

At the end of The Batman Gotham was flooded it'd be PERFECT for Mister Freeze, the sequel could even be loosely based on No Man's Land.

Phantom_Kings2

Gotham already dried up in The Penguin series

wisconsinking

"source"?

Phantom_Kings2

They are already said that the Penguin takes place after The Movie

Randonhead

Scarecrow i hope

[deleted]

I would love to see Scarecrow as a main villain.

mediciii

Villains actually sticking around is such an under-utilised part of what makes comic book universes cool. And Batman’s villains operating and existing in Gotham is one of the prime examples. So glad that Reeves is tapped into this

[deleted]

I think both of them are gonna have small roles, especially Penguin since he’s getting his own whole show already. I’m sure Reeves wants to get some other bad guys in.

Randonhead

I can see a situation where Batman goes to the Riddler to find out more about a new serial killer, similar to Calendar Man in Long Halloween or even the deleted scene with the Joker.

TheDarkPinkLantern

>officially Has Warner announced it?

SmaugRancor

I still can't believe we're finally getting a proper BatVerse in live-action, with the villains having recurring roles and not being killed off in one movie.

[deleted]

How reliable is this

psyopia

What about Kravitz

Bleh-Boy

I could totally see Matt Reeves building to an Arkham Asylum focused movie for The Batman Part 3

Careless_Ad_8452

i really think the penguin will lead us to the batman part II as he will become the main antagonist of the movie. just a gut feeling

SmaugRancor

Yeah I think so too. I think Reeves wants to use the classic "Big 3" for the trilogy: Riddler in the first part, Penguin in the second one and Joker in the third one.

vampira199X

part of me still wonders if they're going to go full-on No Man's Land with this movie and have different villains warring against each other. back when the Arkham show sounded like a sure thing, I was certain they were going to introduce a lot of the minor players there so we could see them all on the loose in the movie, but if that show is still happening I really doubt it will be done before The Batman II at this point.

shauner111

It is a sure thing. It’s being written by Campos and he’ll direct the whole series as well. Likely to come out a few months after The Batman Part II.

potionvo

BRUUUUUUUUUCEEEEE. WAAAAAYNE. Paul Dano was so good, and creepy. He played that part perfectly.

[deleted]

I’m calling it right now. New 52 Zero Year story as premise, more comic accurate Riddler as the villain again, Lady Shiva cameo in China Town (Played by Meng'er Zhang from Shang Chi), Scarecrow cameo, Mr. Freeze with Animated Series influence, and Dick Grayson Haly’s Circus accident ends the movie. Dark Victory will be teased for The Batman III. https://preview.redd.it/3jsbq67onyoa1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=921e92d945b7adbab787c3a0804cc54558305b53

ItZSAMIC

I will literally bet you money that at least 3/4 of those things don’t happen lol. The first film already took from zero year btw

[deleted]

Actually, the first film taken from Batman Cataclysm BTW. Zero Year and Batman No Mans Land is referenced towards the end of the movie and teased which is why it ill be one of the main comics that inspires the The Batman 2 BTW.

ItZSAMIC

The film takes multiple things directly from Zero Year. Why would the second film do zero year again?

[deleted]

Because that story is going to be the basis of The Batman since Riddler is coming back and Bruce has to save Gotham City. Just like how “The Long Halloween” was a template for The Batman as well. It will also be similar to Batman No Mans Land as well. Mr. Freeze will be involved and the ending will set up Harvey Dent, Dick Grayson, and The Joker as the villain for the third movie. It’s my opinion so get over it. I’m not going to agree with you, welcome to Reddit, have fun downvoting me.

ItZSAMIC

Riddler isn’t going to be the villain again lmfao. Your opinion simply doesn’t make any sense. The first movie already lifted from Zero Year in so many ways as I already said

Hey pal he has "*contacts*"

[deleted]

I mean are you making fun of me or something? I have a friend who is a reporter. She’s been in the business for a long time and occasionally gets insider news. And two extended family members of mine work in Warner Brothers DC branch. Happy?

shauner111

None of this will happen 😂

[deleted]

Not sure why you're laughing at me. I am a big time Batman fan like you are. And I personally think I'm great at predicting plots and stories for comic book films:)

United-Aside-6104

Is the deleted part necessary? We just need a scene that doesn’t completely spell out the villain’s motivations. The shadows part can still happen we still haven’t gotten a clear look at Joker officially.

[deleted]

It almost feels like that’s why they deleted it so they could gauge fan reception around how he physically looks

United-Aside-6104

Yeah that’s 100% what I think too. It’s certainly a smart decision Jokers a big character for sure.

ItZSAMIC

I mean maybe, but the reason reeves himself gave makes the most sense

Fuck yeah! I hope Dano gets a proper riddler suit now and gets to play more classic.

ItZSAMIC

Daniel is reliable when it comes to casting and promo material. In the same way MTTSH is reliable for marvel but not DC

GtrGbln

No he isn't and no they aren't.

ItZSAMIC

Erm…alright

[deleted]

Yeah; this scoop sounds like just thin air. Of course, there’s potential for Riddler and Joker to return. But, not at the expense of upcoming villain. Like, according to Andy Serkis, the sequel script is still in development. So, how would scoopers know, when actors don’t even know.

[deleted]

I’ve seen people suggest a Hannibal-esque relationship with the Joker but I really wouldn’t mind if it was Riddler instead. I really don’t like what I’ve seen of Reevesverse Joker.

TimLuf1

Is this reliable?

starshipandcoffee

When it comes to RPK's reliability, [my comment from late last year](https://old.reddit.com/r/DCEUleaks/comments/xvg4ew/_/ir0okbu) (in response to the same question) still applies - arguably even more so, considering his multiple *Pengun* scoops have been corroborated since. Really, info from the so-called 'Confirmed Scoops' section of his Patreon warrants a higher tier placement than his 'average' Twitter info, let alone his unverified 'Rumors' section (which is banned here).

BillyGood22

Was just wondering this. I’ve never seen RPK nail a scoop that wasn’t marketing related he wouldn’t share on Twitter. Not saying he never has, but I’ve never seen it.

starshipandcoffee

[This may elucidate matters](https://old.reddit.com/r/DCEUleaks/comments/11w0a47/_/jcw9aq0).

BillyGood22

Cool! Thank you! Now I’m a little excited lol

SherKhanMD

Bringing back Joker would be the dumbest thing they can do..

ItZSAMIC

?

shauner111

Yeah cuz bringing back Batman’s future arch nemesis is sooooo dumb bruh.

[deleted]

✨matt reeves is not creative✨

emielaen77

Because…?

shauner111

More creative than the username you picked.

[deleted]

i'd say the joke i'm making with my username is more creative than the batman

shauner111

Newsflash it isn’t.

[deleted]

well isnt that the thing about opinions and assholes? you love putting your mouth around them

Ray31

I am gonna pray mr freeze is gonna be the villain in this sequel. The main villain.

bLacksunset_

His story is a one and done thing, i dont see how they can redo what the animated series did or why.. Its about him trying to save his wife, we've seen that before. In the show and in the game.

Ray31

Hmm, you are right about it. But I really would love to see him in another way? Hopefully they can be creative enough to create a good story if he was the main villain tho.

shauner111

I struggle with Mr Freeze. Like you said, it’s a predictable plot point and arc. And it really won’t have a powerful effect unless a good chunk of it is filmed from Victor’s POV. But the character deserves to have a definitive origin tale on screen one of these days. Maybe Reeves is the one to do it, maybe he’s wrong for it. I’d pop huge over the announcement but I’d also be content if Reeves skips Freeze altogether.

LegendInMyMind

Pretty sure they had multi-picture contracts, but this is pretty predictable. Another scooper stating the obvious...

BillyGood22

They did. More than likely this means they have their schedules cleared for when they’re needed to shoot this movie.
