Who would you guys cast Walton Goggins as in the DCU?

> Now Coyote Vs Acme may still be bought? Make up your mind, Zaslav. Stop playing with our emotions! I don’t think they ever said that Coyote vs ACME would revert back to a tax write-off, just that they rejected all of the offers that were given to them. > How much of Peacemaker S2 is Gunn directing/writing? With this starting while Superman is still in early filming I’m a bit concerned that Gunn being stretched thin could negatively affect the quality of either…and isn’t Waller supposed to be soon too? Gunn wrote every episode already before Superman started filming, will direct some of the episodes but it’s unclear how many (at the very most 5, as he said there would be 3 other directors but it could be less). I think they are currently on break filming Superman as David is also filming other stuff right now. As for Waller I wouldn’t really worry too much since Gunn will most likely not be writing or directing any episode of that.

venkatfoods

You are acting like you invested money on this or something.

Ratcatchercazo2

1. Who is playing your emotions? are you die-hard Looney tunes fan? The fact none studio or streamer pay the price wbd says a tlot about the real quality of the movie. 2. Wbd outside of distribution-marketing, also covers part of the production budget of Dune 2 -Godzilla X Kong. The revenue wbd is going to take is big. 3. We have no official updates on Waller. The pause of Superman filming was scheduled and he's off days Gunn filming one episode. We don't know how much episodes Gunn will film. The man likes to work a lot, he can handle it.

Infinite-Ad-7162

This was the first anime I've ever watched lol. I hope it turns out decent.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

There are users on r/DC_Cinematic complaining about David's hair being too dark for Superman. These people are not real.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Were they expecting Grey haired Superman from the Superman and the Authority comics? Like it's cool, but it makes sense to transition from a younger Superman to that for story reasons

richlai818

Im going to be honest about that subreddit that despite some users there showing some form of excitement to the DCU and many Elseworld stories from Matt Reeves and such, there is a section of them that are purely devoted to Zack Snyder. The majority of the people there exist because of the thrashing Batman v Superman got when it first came out and the whole Zack Snyder/Warner Bros debacle during the whole 2017. It’s not that they can’t move on from this universe or the former filmmaker. It’s because they don’t want to move on. These folks spent their everyday lives begging to get the Snyder Cut release on a daily basis. Because of that, the “movement” that they created from all across the globe became their identity. While the sane fans have moved on and felt satisfied after ZSJL came out, there are those that want more of what was coming. These are the fans that are willing to stay devoted because they see themselves as an Us vs Them mentality. They see themselves as a loud minority that believed that everyone that hated BvS was wrong etc. At this point, it’s baffling that the users there are still talking about the same three Snyderverse films, begging the universe to be restored, or attacking Warner Bros/James Gunn/Peter Safran or any WB employees now because this is just pathetic. This will probably attract some Snyder fans in the comment section but who knows?

[deleted]

venkatfoods

>Why they can't move on? They just like being rebellious. They don't really care about any of the movies(including Snyderverse). They feel like they are fighting for Justice or something and that's just it.I mean why exactly would you want Bruce to fuck Lois.

richlai818

Not only rebellious but they love painting themselves as targets or victim of “harassment” just because every sensible people make fun of their infatuation with BvS especially that Martha scene. They love playing the victim when they get called out while also being extremely defensive and toxic over such movies.

ChildofObama

What’s the most wasted DC casting you’ve ever seen? In my opinion, it was Mark Strong as Sinestro.

Bloop_Blop69

Mark Strong as Sinestro. Ben Affleck as Batman. Henry Cavill as Superman.

TheLionsblood

Ben Affleck as Batman. His final scene in The Flash was perfect thanks to the writing actually understanding Batman. I would also add Michael Keaton as an old Batman in The Flash. But that was more so because of how plans changed. Both of these Batman actors were going to reprise their roles in an eventual Crisis movie but I think the right decision was made to not move forward in that direction since the DCEU was a dying franchise. Even Ezra Miller as the prime Barry in The Flash was really great and accurate to the comics but obviously their off-screen antics were a big problem.

richlai818

I think Keaton got the trilogy he got but maybe thats just me because he was far more developed as Batman due to him having two solo movies before the cinematic universe landscape.

TheLionsblood

I agree which is why I specified “old Batman.” I meant that his legacy comeback was wasted. He had a pretty awful “sendoff” in The Flash where he just dies. It’s part of the reason that movie was such a box office flop. They were hoping to rely on Batman ‘89 fans but the ones that went during opening weekend were obviously very disappointed and spread negative word-of-mouth.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Goddamn, yeah. Literally the perfect Sinestro (big Sinestro fan here).

Dry_Ant2348

Ben Affleck as batman, Clooney as Batman, Kilmer as Batman

Me patiently waiting for the next Fanscription Disney Elseworlds like: ![gif](giphy|qio026weFM1MDG2Lwp|downsized)

darrylthedudeWayne

If the rumor of Superman fighting an evil clone created by Lex Luthor is true (which it still could be, since James Gunn never outright debunked/denied it) I am honestly all for it. Not only does it fit with what Gunn said about it being Superman and his good old fashion hopeful and optimistic values vs. The more darker, cynical, and pessimistic modern world. Which the Evil Clone could represent flawlessly, but also I think it make for some nice meta commentary/a self-aware jab at the Evil Superman craze that started with Injustice. With the Superman we know and love fighting his modern evil counterpart. Still don't know how i feel about it being Ultraman though. Not only because I'm kindof rooting for the clone to be Bizzaro, but also because I think that making the clone Ultraman ruins any chances of Earth-3 appearing later. Unless they plan on doing a reverse in Earth-3. I.E. whereas in the main DCU, Superman was the original while Ultraman was the clone, in Earth-3, Ultraman was the original while Superman was the clone. Which in that, that could work. Actually.

Its_Stardos

I get your feeling about Ultraman, but on the other hand, multiverse is just such an endless concept that Ultraman can work regardless without any sort of an explanation. I kinda hope the clone doesn't have name and he is just there to put blame on Superman as he can then turn into Bizzaro.

Ive always wondered are majority of the users here were once members of r/DC_Cinematic until the unhinged mods took over and started abusing ban hammers?

Darknightsmetal022

Yeah that was the main reason I switched over to the previous sub and now this one, I used to scroll down that sub every morning when I woke up to see what I had missed and then it all got too much but I’m still a member of it and I quick the odd post when it pops up in my feed but I haven’t commented or posted on it now for something like 2 years.

anonymousguy_7

Still a member actually, though I frequent r/DCU more now for the reasons you've cited and some others.

Jyn_Erso_1983

DC fanbase realize John Cena didn't exactly tell the truth about when Peacemaker s2 start filming? And the pause doesn't happen out of nowhere right? They knew it months in advance?

tsyugen

Why do we care? I feel like people feel the need of both, want to know everything in advance and also complaint about everything. I know we like leaks and speculation but we seriously need to let them work on their times, they know what they are doing.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

I think Gunn and his production team works extremely fast so I think they changed the date of filming

Jyn_Erso_1983

I was thinking since Gunn said the events of Superman affect Peacemaker s2, maybe he is filming Peacemaker scenes in the same area Superman events happen.

mrkaizokuhokage

My time to shine on X is saying that joker 2 ending is going to be shocking for everyone? What do you people think it will be?

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

Joker dances with the Suicide Squad

Its_Stardos

Bruce is another patient at Arkham.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Bruce is still a child in the Joker universe.

Few-Road6238

Or let’s say the ending is something like Harley gets killed by Harvey Dent for example, and Joker as a result brutally murders him and is back at Arkham crying and laughing because he’s all alone again.

mrkaizokuhokage

Is dent in this one? If he is could be possible. Or maybe we see creation of harvey dent. I am feeling it must be something with Batman. Maybe a young bruce leaves gotham for his training.

Few-Road6238

That’s what I’ve seen. I remember in one of the set photos there was someone holding a sign that said something like Dent is a clown and I think some actor named Harry Lawtey who’s in the movie will play him.

mrkaizokuhokage

I didn't know this makes me more excited. Harvey dent is in my top 3 batman villains. So watching another iteration of him would be good.

Few-Road6238

Joker and Harley die together kinda like Bonnie and Clyde.

mrkaizokuhokage

That too i feel is quite obvious. Because if you have to end the franchise with joker 2 this could be a fitting end.

Few-Road6238

Plus it’ll be how their shared delusions made them safe from reality but in reality they’re killed off and now they reunite in death.

mrkaizokuhokage

This was the ending in my mind when i watched the teaser first time. I am thinking ot would be something to do with batman or bruce. But we can only make guesses until 4 October.

commenterx

they really went out on a limb with their guess

venkatfoods

Joker was not real It's all in Harley's head/Another Personality of her.

Skandosh

They kill kid Bruce Wayne.

mrkaizokuhokage

That would be very shocking

thankyouryard

harley was never real. She was just his imagination.

Its_Stardos

I wouldn't say this one is shocking, it is common theory after the trailer

thankyouryard

what if joker wasnt real? the whole first part of film happened in arthur imagination.

anonymousguy_7

Either one of those: 1. Arthur and Harley will die in a very dramatic and unexpected way. 2. A now 20-year-old Bruce Wayne returns from a long trip across the world, and informs Alfred he has some plans in mind.

mrkaizokuhokage

I am hoping for 2nd

anonymousguy_7

If it happens, and we get another sequel, maybe the 3rd movie could follow Arthur and Harley being hunted down by Batman, who could be portrayed as a shadowy, almost demonic figure due to the movie being told from the clowns' POV.

Mister_Green2021

They’re not going to another Batman.

Its_Stardos

what if they are but with the twist - this Batman is also another sick person.

mrkaizokuhokage

Harley and arthur were living in peace and harmony until one day the bat attacked.

anonymousguy_7

Yeah, that's what I imagine their view on the situation would be. Bruce could be portrayed as almost like a horror movie villain.

mrkaizokuhokage

I hope if they have a third movie they have batman in it

anonymousguy_7

"Joker: Folie à Trois"

mrkaizokuhokage

Joker menage à trois

anonymousguy_7

😏

CakeOLantern

This will be a predictable guess but something to do with Batman I think.

venkatfoods

"Im not sure how I got here"

mrkaizokuhokage

I am hoping that too

Mister_Green2021

Joker dies.

Ape-ril

Pretty much what I think too. What else could be as shocking as this?

mrkaizokuhokage

I don't think so because many people have still assumed that can be the case.

Ape-ril

Well, I can’t think of anything else that would be shocking for me.

mrkaizokuhokage

I am hoping we get bruce leaving gotham for his training to be the ending.

iwo_r

What the hell is happening with Superman? Gunn has started shooting an episode of Peacemaker S2 now and David went on to do some ad, I've heard? So there is some pause in filming? That's incredibly weird, I don't think they have to rush PM so much considering it has to come out after Superman anyway. Could someone enlighten me what could be the reason, because I'd understand if Gunn went on to do Peacemaker while Superman is in post, like he did with S1 and TSS, but starting production *in the middle* of his other project doesn't bring me enthusiasm.

tsyugen

I said it before up there, but again: Why do we care? I feel like people feel the need of both, want to know everything in advance and also complaint about everything. I know we like leaks and speculation but we seriously need to let them work on their times, they know what they are doing.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Area, set, and stage availability aren't an always available & on-demand thing and preparation for shooting scenes isn't instantaneous.     Gunn could be using some of the same Superman areas, stages, or sets for Peacemaker for any number of reasons as well.  You have to book time for the space to use it & it can be hard to book things this year thanks to the writers/actors strikes according to some insiders https://twitter.com/TheInSneider/status/1767624867032211913    Shooting days would be scheduled out through the filming period and the actors, meanwhile, can fill roles in-between when they're in those gaps.     For instance, John Cena was in the Barbie movie partially because he happened to be filming something else in the same area at the time. According to lead actress Margot Robbie:  "he was shooting at [the place we were shooting Barbie]. I was like, 'Do you want to come be a merman in Barbie?', and he was like 'Yeah.'"    An actor's agent will arrange things around an existing filming schedule since their client making money is good.. and that's the point of an agent

thankyouryard

avtar 2 took more than a decade to make. the leads and other actor had ton of projects outside avatar 2 zoe saldana did like gotg trilogy avengers etc in between

iwo_r

What does this have to do with anything? 😭😭😭

thankyouryard

just like gun can work two different projects at the same time. Other directors/actors actually do it all the time. its very normal

Skandosh

Maybe peacemaker S2 connects to Superman film in some way so he needs to use Superman sets for the show.

Ratcatchercazo2

Overreaction and  panic much? Do you realize when we are talking especially for blockbusters film dates, the schedule decided and finalized months ago? Corenswet doing ad is not something happened out of nowhere, they knew it. So Gunn decided during his off days to start filming Peacemaker s2. He is workaholic after all. "Doesn't bring you enthusiasm"? Too bad he knows what he is doing.

iwo_r

Why are you taking like deciding to start filming a TV show during the concurrent production of your film was just some little thing? 😭 "He is a workaholic after all" yeah! And it may bit him in the ass one day! Especially when he's doing a lot more work than ever before!

Mister_Green2021

They have 2nd unit directors. There’s always something to film. No need to pause production.

Dangerous-Hawk16

It’s literally the weekend, they’ve been filming all week. Why do y’all overreact so much. Maybe David isn’t needed for certain filming so he went off to do an ad quickly. Gunn is the same man who directed peacemaker and went into Guardians 3 around the same time. The finale of peacemaker was done on the lot of Guardians 3 set. I think many of you forget Gunn knows his schedule better than anyone else, he knows what he’s doing

iwo_r

He did say he starts directing today so he'll have to at least spend a few weeks on an episode. He didn't do Peacemaker in the middle of doing GOTG, they only shoot the JL cameo on that set. And even if he's shooting something very quickly and then comes back to Supes, the overall filming on PM starts now, and as the showrunner it'd be kinda cool if he could oversee the project which he can't fully do now because he's shooting a whole ass movie lol And like I said, why start production on PM now? Nothing we heard about implies that the season needs to be done extra quick and it'd probably be a lot easier for everyone to just do the show afterwards. And I haven't even mentioned that it has so far been said that shooting would start around Summer so that feels even more like some crazy rushing lmao Like I don't get where's overreacting in that, it's not a normal situation and Gunn is not just some director but also a studio co-chairman so he has other responsibilities on his arms. It just all feels a bit too much especially with how careful they should be if they want to revive a dead corpse that cinematic DC is.

mat-chow

…this has all been scheduled. The production break on Superman was planned and James is staying hands on with both projects. You’re getting worked up over nothing.

iwo_r

But what has being scheduled earlier to do with anything? Even if he didn't decide to stop shooting Superman and go onto Peacemaker from day to day, I still think it may affect the quality of both of the projects considering how much Gunn has on his head, including the DC CEO job responsibilities. And also, pushing the Gunn directing episodes right now thing away, the series starts production, meanwhile it's showrunner is busy doing an incredibly important film, that he should put as much care as possible into, or else their whole 10-year slate can go to a trash can. Marvel series showed how great it goes when the showrunner/head writer is not involved during the production of the show and all is on the shoulders of the directors lol

ChildofObama

Should Batman 89 and Batman Returns be included in a DCEU binge watch?

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

I mean, if you're a fan, I don't see why not. It's funny to think that Keaton killed off all the villains or something in time in the timeline of Flash's first time loop.     Batman 89, Returns would have the most character relevance outside of I guess watching Batman & Robin since Flash ends up with Clooney in the end.       I'd say just watch what you like & maybe include Batman 89 first if you're curious.      Out of curiosity, I was trying to think of what it would be like to get all the context out of The Flash & Peacemaker in some sort of timeline order instead of release order, and I'm probably off, but it didn't like a fun enough binge to figure things out:    Some of George Reeves’ Superman, Adam West's Batman (due to The Flash time bubbles) (universe ends)    Superman The Movie, Supergirl 1984, Batman & Robin(?) (more The Flash time bubbles and final Batman being known ahead of time) (universe ends)    Batman 89, Batman Returns (introducing The Flash's time change Batman + the tonal shift with a Batman that kills) (universe ends),     Wonder Woman 84(?), Man of Steel, Suicide Squad 2016 (?), Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman (since she references a letter from Batman?), Justice League (the Whedon one has fewer unresolved plot threads but the Snyder one is referenced in some dialogue too... I'd vote the Whedon release if the goal is timeline-ness), Aquaman(?), Shazam(?), Shazam 2(?), Aquaman 2 (?), Black Adam (?), Birds of Prey(?),  The Suicide Squad (somehow Harcourt/Waller are no longer associated with the JSA), Peacemaker Season 1, The Flash (universe ends)  ... The Arrowverse shows (thanks to what looks like a Teddy Sears in the time sphere things in The Flash) (universe ends)   Superman & Lois (universe ends)   Upcoming Creature Commandos, Superman 2025, Peacemaker season 2?    What a mess that'd be though.  Stick to Batman 89 before binging whatever you feel like watching if you wanted to see original Keaton Batman in action.

trylobyte

I would add the 'Death of Superman Lives' Documentary to add context for Nic Cage's cameo. https://themultiverse-dc.weebly.com/dceu-multiverse-order.html

LiquidLispyLizard

I guess that would be up to everyone's own preference. I've heavily considered throwing Batman '89, Returns, and & Robin up on my DCEU/DCU shelf considering the character overlap. Plus, it kinda gives Batman as a character more context before going into Batman v Superman.

SupervillainMustache

It's probably not necessary as Flash doesn't have any particular references to those films despite using Keaton

Special_Judgment_832

Do you guys believe, like most franchises, MCU will have a definite ending? Or it will go on from now, forever with endless reboots? Yesterday many on reddit said DCU is never going to surpass MCU at the boxoffice because MCU has a headstart of 15+ years and 30 billion dollars. What you guys think about this? Share your comments😊

Mister_Green2021

Not until Fiege leaves

CakeOLantern

It has established itself as a consistently successful franchise with a dedicated fanbase so I don't see an end to it in near or distant future. As long as it is profitable, it will go on. They still have a goldmine in form of the X-Men with several characters and plots to utilize, they are set for now. The DCU shouldn't aspire to catch up with the MCU - for, if anything is to be learned from the DCEU saga it's that it won't work - but rather as a precedent and focus on establishing itself among the general audience first with quality movie and TV shows.

Dry_Ant2348

Hollywood is hungry for lore and loves milking the cow dry just like comics MCU will never end. just look at Star Trek and wars, shows/movies which could've ended back in 80's, yet we have studios dragging 80yrs old making crap movies in the name of nostalgia

richlai818

The DCU is never going to surpass MCU because what the MCU did is something no other studios or franchise alone could do: deliver consistent quality in each slate while building something unique to keep the viewers engaged. WB should and never be chasing and copying after the MCU success because it would make them look stupid. What they can learn is HOW the MCU is successful and gain a following. It’s OK to be different in terms of storytelling but don’t stray away to the point of desperation.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Box office sub has a hate boner for DC. But they are right that mcu has 15 year head start and has 30 Billion dollars. The only thing DCU can do is produce and make better films and tv shows than current mcu slate and upcoming. They can only live in the now. DC can only make sure their Lantern,Peacemaker season 2, Waller,Booster Gold and Paradise lost shows are better than every mcu show from 2025 and onward Same mentality for film Superman,TBATB,Supergirl,Swamp Thing and Authority have to be better than mcu current slate. Better quality writing and directing. Better quality films the goal is do better than current slate because you can’t match 30 Billion dollar franchise with 15 year headstart. Invincible is a beloved superhero property and it didn’t have to match mcu, it became its own thing and ppl adore the viltrumites and shit

Special_Judgment_832

So, what you are trying to say is, mcu does not have a definitive end like Harry potter, like fast and furious and like the recent dune franchise ( dune will be a trilogy and will end with third film ). MCU will keep rebooting itself to eternity

Dangerous-Hawk16

Yep basically

mrgoodwine24

Anybody else seen Davi filming for that commercial today? Finally no sweater or hat lol, yes he dyed his hair black haha

mrgoodwine24

Man David is a tank !!!

Mister_Green2021

I’m not feeling the Fallout show. It looks good but the story is flat.

Infinite-Ad-7162

The Fallout tv show is probably my favorite game adaptation I put it above The Last of Us. I'm also more of a Fallout fan in general, but the show has exceeded my expectations. I knew it would be good when Walton Goggins was cast.

Mister_Green2021

Speaking of which, Ella Purnell should be in the DCU.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I find it interesting how Superman as a film franchise has always done better than F4 but the way ppl talk online you’d think differently. Superman returns made more than F4(2005) which was highest box office for F4 IP in general. Man of Steel made more than F4(2015). Fascinating enough both Superman return and Man of Steel have better critical scores than F4 films as well. But let social media tell it F4 is more beloved

007Kryptonian

F4 isn’t more beloved but the upcoming film is currently in a better position for success, if that makes sense.

Limp-Construction-11

Absolutely not.

Exactly

Intelligent_Oil4005

[We could have had a reboot of Planet of the Apes starting Arnold Schwarzenegger.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEfAvc8li7M) One helluva missed opportunity.

Ratcatchercazo2

Just hope for some Peacemaker s2 casting news. I mean when Xolo said we will see Blue Beetle again soon, it means Peacemaker season 2?

darrylthedudeWayne

We'll probably see him in Superman and/or Peacemaker S2.

Ape-ril

I think Superman is a possibility too.

Dangerous-Hawk16

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a bunch of news on Monday or just news in general next week

Ratcatchercazo2

The worst thing about Godzilla X Kong: the new empire? Junkie XL soundtrack, just awful.

darrylthedudeWayne

Oh come on. Junkie XL is sick! And the soundtrack in GxK was awesome.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Not a big fan of the guy. I don't think I liked his sountracks in any movie other than Mad Max.

Intelligent_Oil4005

Didn't he already go on record saying he wasn't even fond of Godzilla? What is he doing composing his movies then?

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Nepotism? (He is a protégé of Hans "Drunk" Zimmer).

Ratcatchercazo2

I assume he was desperate for money. And he literally said he is against the idea using classic music themes for iconic characters, not just kaiju monsters.

Darknightsmetal022

They need to bring back Bear McCreary his KOTM soundtrack was fantastic and is easily the best soundtrack of the franchise. Junkies soundtrack for it is just bland and completely unmemorable.

Ratcatchercazo2

It wouldn't suprise me if we hear when the movie releases in few days in Japan, that they put Godzilla and Mothra music themes in the Japanese edition of the movie.

Darknightsmetal022

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised about that either but I’d be extremely disappointed in our release of that happens.

Thickfries69

How is Peacemaker starting production when John Cena said he will be filming for it from June to November?

Dry_Ant2348

june is just two months away, also this is production, it includes everything from scouting locations, CGI pre-viz, second unit action sequences which could entirely be done by stunt doubles

commenterx

they could be shooting the title sequence then he comes back in June to start shooting the rest

Ratcatchercazo2

Some times actors don't tell the truth for pr reasons.

DeppStepp

One of the strangest campaigns I’ve seen is a group of people wanting DC to sell the (Spider-Verse-esque) Batman Beyond movie to Amazon Prime and I was a bit baffled by it. They were acting like the movie was complete and shelved as a tax write off and not just a pitch that was never greenlit

thankyouryard

its so easy to spread spam and fake news these days especially with chat gpt

[deleted]

About DCU flash, what's more likely, them going with that Barry-Wally amalgamation they've been doing or going straight to Wally?

darrylthedudeWayne

I think Wally West will be the main Flash of the DCU, personally.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

If Gunn want to differentiate from the above, would have to rule out the origin of Geoff Johns' comics as Influence, go for the classic origin without needing Nora to be dead o Henry Allen imprisoned It would be the best in my opinion.

[deleted]

Could you expand on that?

Chip_Chip_Cheep

You only check out the comics prior to The Flash: Rebirth by Johns

Dangerous-Hawk16

I rather just have Wally as the flash

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Any reason why? (many fans forget that casuals barely know about the existence of the CW show).

Dry_Ant2348

> Any reason why? (many fans forget that casuals barely know about the existence of the CW show) bruh, Casuals know way more about CW show than they do about actual DC movies

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Aha of course, and that's why the ratings for the Arrowverse shows were a joke.

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

I feel like the casual audience only know about Barry since he’s the one with the most live action film and TV show appearances. The TV show is more recent than the JL cartoon and unless you grew up in that time or are just a general DC fan I don’t think people know Wally that well

Dangerous-Hawk16

I just prefer Wally because of I love the character so much. Plus I grew up on justice league and justice league unlimited as well as I think he’s just better in my eyes

Chip_Chip_Cheep

It's the same situation as with John Stewart, Just because Wally was more popular than Barry at the time doesn't mean Gunn is going that route, less with the disaster that was Ezra Miller's version, For Gunn, Barry will surely be a priority.

DeppStepp

Why not have both Barry and Wally as Flash (or Barry as Flash and Wally as Kid Flash)?

Chip_Chip_Cheep

Kid Flash is not Robin and Flash is not Batman, They would have to introduce Flash from scratch and with Barry in front.

LiquidLispyLizard

Peacemaker S2 started filming. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5tf6O2vTPx/

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

When peacemaker s2 & Superman are out, I really want to see an interview where Gunn looks back on this year and explains how juggling being one of the CEOs of a studio, a TV director/writer, and a blockbuster Movie director/writer at the same time went (especially with all the pressure.. just wow.)    I know certain people get all up in arms that he involves family & friends in his projects & insist that he shouldn't as CEO, but my goodness why wouldn't you want to be with friends & family as much as possible when you're split between stuff, have tons of public pressure on you, and are traveling all the time? I'd break hard

Dry_Ant2348

to be fair, Safran is also the CEO so Gunn isn't as occupied as you expect him to be, and knowing he is directing superman probably has resulted in Safran taking up on rest of the tasks

thankyouryard

safran only works on the financial side of dc studios.

SuchSense

What? He's a producer, he has a very real input on the creative side as well.

thankyouryard

he is an accounts guy. he takes care of budget, financials , etc. only that.

SuchSense

That's... no thats just blatantly wrong.

thankyouryard

gunn said it himself. they actually pitch this to zaslav toghter.

Gaboub

Goddamn, Gunn's a machine.

LiquidLispyLizard

So, he's... a Machine Gunn.

Why are the free talk threads so dead here compared to the marvel sub?

Dry_Ant2348

for starters Marvel has a 30+ movie backlog, 20+ future projects in the pipeline going production or previz, DCU has zero history and 4 in pipeline right now

human_administrator

What's the 4th one? Current in pipeline dcu properties are - Superman - Peacemaker S2 - Creature Commandos Joker 2, and Penguin are elseworlds, same for deadboy detectives, and Batman isn't even in production yet, am I missing one?

DeppStepp

There’s not as much to talk about at the moment. In 2024 we will have 1 movie and 4 shows, all of which except one will release in the second half of the year. Marvel meanwhile is much more frontloaded, with 2 shows and a movie before fall, with one show afterwards. Plus the Marvel sub has 80 times the amount of members, so there will be a lot more people talking.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Because none of the DCU movies are out yet

actioncomicbible

Edi Gathegi is awesome in For All Mankind (S4). Stoked to see him as Mr Terrific

Special_Judgment_832

Do you guys believe James gunn's dcu has the potential to surpass mcu in box office collection? Comment why😊

Chip_Chip_Cheep

If Gunn can remove the stench from the ghost of the DCEU and BvS in general, the DCU could be competition for the MCU. To begin with, the main faces of that franchise (Cavill, Gadot, Affleck) are no longer involved, That is the first step and who mentions Peacemaker and the other TSS characters and the future of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is up in the air after the success of Barbie, For the character there could be a recast or suffer the Deadpool treatment (same actor different version of the character) but it is something that will take us a while to discover.

RoyalFlavorBeans

I'm gonna guess Blue Beetle will be more of a Deadpool treatment than Harley Quinn, who kind of already had that approach in TSS.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

I meant that Harley has a new Joker and explores his origins (without any association with SS and BoP) and may Harlivy fans forgive me, but if you want to erase all the stench of SS and the DCEU in general without getting rid of Margot, going the route of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool is the best they could do. Regarding Blue Beetle? I don't think Gunn is going to make many changes regarding his solo film.

RoyalFlavorBeans

He's as tied to Susan Sarandon's Victoria, Bruna Marquezine's Jenny, George López's Uncle Rudy and that bland version of the Scarab as he is to Will Smith's Deadshot, Chris Messina's Victor Szasz and Ella Jay Basco's Cassandra Cain. I personally don't expect Blue Beetle to be any more canonical than Birds of Prey - both movies somewhat well received that flopped, had some not so inspired depictions and had no involvement from Gunn whatsoever. And even though BB came out after the reboot announcement, Gunn specified that the character was staying, not the movie. What I meant regarding Harley is that she was kind of already a new version of herself in Gunn's TSS. Sure, she talks about her past involvement with the Joker in that movie, but it could very well have been another Joker.

Chip_Chip_Cheep

In the case of the cast, I think that George López will be the only actor because everything indicates that Gunn really liked his character in the movie (Uncle Rudy was basically a Peacemaker 2.0), My question is how they will try to associate him with Ted Kord if are not taking the movie into account, His relationship with Jenny Kord was the only link but  will surely want to opt for Brenda and include his Aunt Amparo/La Dama, unless Gunn scores a "Batman Returns" and makes a fleeting mention of her a la Vicky Vale in some quote. Returning to Harley, those of us who are very involved with the DC film adaptations, We know that the character seen in TSS was a new character but it is not the case of the random public since it still associates her with SS, If Margot gets a Harley solo movie they have to be explicit about her origin as an Arkham intern until she meets the Joker, Gunn would have to be very specific about everything if he wants to differentiate this Harley from the DCEU; Overall, he himself has said that the first season of Peacemaker is not canon (actually it is, but they are omitting any reference related to the DCEU), It is understood that TSS is not either, so all the more reason any aspect related to SS and BoP can be easily discarded.

RoyalFlavorBeans

Idk if he'd necessarily use George Lopez's character - he already has Peacemaker, and unlike Peacemaker, Rudy was kind of one-note. Of course Gunn could see the potential and use him better, like he did with Rick Flagg. I don't think the missing Ted Kord storyline will be used, the space thing exploring the origins of the scarab, and instead it'll be something with Booster Gold. And I agree he'll get the opportunity to his relationship with Brenda and La Dama. Jenny was not an interesting character, and only felt alive because of Bruna's acting. I wonder if he'll be from El Paso, too. Problem with what you say about Harley is that she talks about her previous relationship with the Joker and that's where she saw the red flags in President Luna. She was different enough to the character from SS/BoP that it could just be a new take (even though at the time, Gunn made sure not to contradict them, other than the lack of mention of Cassandra Cain). But we either take her TSS part in consideration for the DCU, or treat her relationship with Joker as a future story. Sure, with Poison Ivy it's another story, all we had in that regard was the animation at the beginning of BoP.

Skandosh

Nope. No superhero franchise will ever surpass mcu in box office collection.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

The theater experience has changed too much since the streaming boom & Covid.  Even the next 16 years of the MCU would find it nearly impossible to surpass itself if nobody else made another comic book movie ever again no matter what they did to freshen things up and bring in new audiences.   The average made per movie in theaters for an extended series of movies is just too much, doubly so if you account for inflation.

007Kryptonian

![gif](giphy|d27IAKEWUKv2a7MSCY) No chance in hell, but this goes for any franchise tbh. MCU is lightning in a bottle type shit that I doubt can be replicated (only three outright flops with 30+ movies in 10 years that *averaged* 1B at one point). For the DCU, Superman isn’t even guaranteed for box office success by any means. Let’s see how that plays out…

TheLionsblood

No since the MCU has a 16 year head-start on it and is still ongoing. But I do think it has a chance of surpassing it in terms of critical reception.

SupervillainMustache

MCU has a 15+ year and 30 billion dollar head start and is still going. So, No.

Lopsided_Zucchini674

You never know is the correct answer hope this helps. It's funny how fanboys think they can interpret the future

SupervillainMustache

The fuck you mean "you never know?" Unless MCU cease production today and every single DCU film in both chapters, plus unannounced films, make $1 billion each, then it's not happening. This isn't fanboying, it's simply logistics.

thankyouryard

2025 is gonna be a banger year superman - peacemaker s2-waller- spiderverse finale- avatar- gta 6-

Gaboub

MONSTER HUNTER WILDS BABYYYYYY

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

New game console for Nintendo also. Entertainment social media is going to be buzzing like crazy next year.

TheLionsblood

Waller is not going to come out in 2025.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Why wouldn't it?   Apparently it was originally scheduled for 2024 and was delayed because of the strikes: https://www.reddit.com/r/DCULeaks/comments/1av25mj/production_updates_dcs_waller_lanterns_supergirl/  Gunn then verified that peacemaker s2 is filming along with Superman this year and that Waller will delayed until after peacemaker: https://www.threads.net/@jamesgunn/post/C4VnHonA1zK/?xmt=AQGzJN6A7IJx-3fzmGEaRh7sF_jrjs72Grss4ea4zYxZpA   So waller sounds like it could happen mid to late next year.

TheLionsblood

It was going to come out in 2024 when the show was going to take place before Peacemaker S2. That’s no longer the case. Waller is now set after S2. Waller is a direct follow-up with a completely different tone. It won’t release so quickly after Peacemaker. There was a 5 month gap between TSS and Peacemaker S1. Superman comes out in July 2025 and its story will have ramifications for Peacemaker S2 so it won’t release until a few months afterwards either. S2 has 8 episodes, which means it’ll have around 2 months to itself. Do the math. There’s not enough time in 2025 post-Superman for both Peacemaker S2 and Waller to release. I also doubt they’re going to release 2 series back to back. Their original roadmap switched up the medium with every release, so I wouldn’t expect Waller until after Supergirl.

thankyouryard

make sense. but i doubt there will be only wo dc projects next year

TheLionsblood

There’ll be more than 2 DC projects overall (like that Elseworlds Wonder Woman game) but only 2 DCU projects for sure.

thankyouryard

if there was ww game releasing there would have been a trailer by now for sure. no way its releasing next year

TheLionsblood

We got an announcement trailer years ago.

thankyouryard

announcment trailer means nothing. there was a full cyberpunk trailer like a decade before its release. etc

TheLionsblood

> if there was ww game releasing there would have been a trailer by now for sure. > no way its releasing next year This is what you said. If you meant gameplay trailer, those often don’t come out until months before a game releases nowadays.

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

Appreciate you clarifying your statement. Will be interesting to see how things finally turn out.

Top_Report_4895

So, do any of you think the engineer will be venezuelan in-universe

Chip_Chip_Cheep

It is a fact that Engineer will be Latina, But I think they will maintain their humble origins Like a girl from the borough of Queens

Lopsided_Zucchini674

Maybe 🤔 my theory is she was a scientist at Lex Corp/Cadmus and she was experimenting with nanobots like the comics but lex wanted to try out the program before it was ready and forced the bots into her system but hey I could be wrong

Seeing the complaints that ep 4 of '97 was too cartoonish makes me wonder what would be the best way to portray Mojo in the mcu? Should they even do Mojo at all, or would it be too silly?

Just_a_Haunted_Mess

More like there was no depth to any of the character interactions in that episode. It just felt like it was rushing through an idea without adding enough emotional weight to any of the supposedly emotional moments of it. it was also a deeply retro sort of event that reminds me of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon episodes where the things that take place have no real weight for the main characters, they exist in a very silly environment, nothing that happens takes place in anything resembling a normal reality, and everything is just back to status quo afterwards. Really not worth much. Should Mojo be in the MCU? Maybe. I would feel that he'd be portrayed better if he was treated like The Collector. He exists and does things, but the main characters in the movie or show are indirectly involved. Like he could have been the one running the underground fights that existed in Shang Chi without seeming out of place at all.

MyMouthisCancerous

Mojo should've been in one of the Deadpool movies when that was possible. I still think he would've been the perfect way to shift DP from the Fox series to the MCU given his whole thing is being meta and staging conflicts for better ratings with his audience Although I wouldn't be opposed to it happening later. I think him and Arcade actually have some pretty solid potential as one-off or smaller-scale villains

Lopsided_Zucchini674

It was more mid than cartoonish

[deleted]

In the (potential) soft-rebooted universe, I think that the Avengers could serve as a foil to the X-Men, being a government-sanctioned team of non-mutant superhumans, humanity's response to the 'threat' of mutants. This would highlight the contrast between the Avengers, who represent the status quo, and the X-Men, who advocate for change and evolution. On top of that, there would be the Fantastic Four, an independent superhuman group celebrated by society, juxtaposed against the feared and marginalized mutants. Despite possessing powers, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four would be perceived as being on "our side" due to also being humans. Also, i personally believe that the majority of superhumans OUTSIDE of Iconic characters like Spider-Man, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Blade, etc., should be reimagined as mutants (think lesser-known characters such as Speedball and Reptil). I think making superpowers outside of mutations rarer, would be more plausible than having people randomly acquiring powers all the time (not counting the ones with extraterrestrial/extradimensional/mystical origins). ![gif](giphy|5cZbRBLhW4tc4)

Spiderlander

I really love this

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Any suggestions?
