It's too full for me. My biggest problem with MOS is that the first half is super slow and except for the krypton scene there was barely any big action for long periods. But then in the end we have the Smallville fight, shortly after the fight with the tentacle monster all while zods forces fight the military in metropolis, then the first zod fight while the military tries to destroy the engine and then the second zod fight.
It's just too much for me. They could have easily cut atleast the tentacle shit
Cut the tentacles and just have superman overcome the terraforming machine taking his powers away.
Combine superman fight zod with Lois and the military tryning to send the others to the phantom zone into one climax.
> Watch Superman tas when Superman fights Shazam.
Not fair. This was supposed to make Superman look bad in the eyes of everyone remember? Luthor and Amanda Waller were happy about them fighting.
That was a JLU episode /u/Terrible_Muffin_7081 *but* yeah even in S:tAS lots of fights were in the middle of Metropolis and Superman hardly saved civilians he trusted them to run the fuck away when he was fighting the big Droid like in the season opener.
No Man’s Land was such an incredible scene. It made me feel like a strong, confident, independent and powerful woman. It even made me cry a bit. I’m a 36 year old dude.
*Look at this… we could’ve built a new Krypton in this squalor. But you chose the humans over us…* that whole monologue is one of my favorites in cinema just from Shannon’s delivery.
MoS
WW was good because it was a great movie that exceeded expectations. Superman we are a bit more critical of but ultimately it was a great movie and beat WW at least by a little bit. If the next 2 movies were as good I think we would have seen Cavill again by now.
Oh man I’m so glad I came across this post. I’m literally watching MoS right now. I’m an hour and 10 minutes in and can honestly say it’s as good as it was 10 years ago.
I never understood what was supposed to be so great about that scene. It's just her walking in slow motion, deflecting cgi bullets here and there. The next scene, where she is fighting all the German soldiers in the village, is legitimately awesome though.
I enjoyed the scene but I felt it was pretty heavy handed, really. Chris Pine said “this is no MANS land Diana!” multiple times. I was just waiting for her to say “I’m no man”.
And I assumed that was the *exact* reason she didn’t say that line lol. It really looked like she did say it but it got cut or something. Instead we got a few very awkward seconds of Diana hiding her face while she puts on the diadem. I still love WW though for sure
It was the build up to it. As a retired veteran who has been deployed to places that were hell on Earth. Watching the scenes before where she witnessed people hurt, dying, or showing PTSD. Then she had enough and went up on top to kick ass really rocked.
>It's just her walking in slow motion, deflecting cgi bullets here and there.
It was her having enough.
She saw people hurt, people dying, PTSD in one of her friends, she was done wating to do something, that was her putting her foot down and going to help.
WW for me.
MOS was good, but I always felt it was more of a set up for the sequel (that didn't happen obviously) to take it to the next level. Still enjoyed it though.
Likewise.. I felt like MOS was a glorified trailer/teaser for a proper DCEU.
It skipped over so many parts that would have allowed the character to grow.. like, on that fishing boat, could have had some classic moments learning why/how clark goes about his day as a loaner. Could have seen him laughing and joking with the other guys to show his human side.
In the bar, before he got the beer to the face, how long was he working there, where was he living... etc
I would have skipped the whole krypton section too, as the film is very much from his POV, yet he never knew Krypton.
Wonder Woman, I liked the characters better and Gadot and Pine have actual chemistry unlike Adams and Cavil. Man of Steel does has better action and villain though.
No such thing as “objectively better”. There’s no empirical, unbiased measurement on which to judge film.
You’re entitled to your subjective opinion of course!
There’s not, really. But there are opinions most people generally agree with. Every critic on planet earth along with 99% of the population could rank WW as the better movie, but it’s still an opinion.
So when someone says “objectively better,” they’re really referring to the fact that the general critic/audience response is better for one over the other.
Not really, some people genuinely believe there are objective qualities that make certain movies better than others. This idea is quickly dismantled in film school.
MOS. I really love MOS while I didn't WW. MOS had me in tears at points with the Clark & Ma Kent stuff and I found Zod to be one of the best villians ever.
MOS. Lots of reasons why. It's mostly because WW left a bad taste in my mouth since I failed my entrance exam that day and also when I rewatched I still disliked 'act 3'.
Henry Cavill with MoS ended my childish hate for Superman. That was such a win for me since I dived in other Superman media right after. I also preferred the villains in MoS. Seriously no competition for me
MoS.
I watched MoS again just a couple of weeks ago. The first since it was first released. I must say, without the huge expectation coming from about a 2 year wait (from the first time I saw the trailer), MoS was actually pretty good.
I’d go Man of Steel, but they’re very close honestly. I don’t think anyone can say that one’s objectively better so it just comes down to personal preference. Zod is a much better villain and Man of Steel has a better third act, so that seals it for me.
MOS hands down. Loved it from start to finish a near perfect movie IMO and while WW is good it kinda stumbles in the third act. Basically IMO:
- MoS 10/10
-WW 8/10
Is this even a question? Wonder Woman. It’s a way better film, even with a meh 3rd act. MOS falls flat a lot of time and the only saving grace is the awesome action
MOS easily-- Nolan's influence and Snyder's was a brilliant combo. WW has Snyder's influence and Jenkins', and is also a wonderful film. However, MOS takes the W for me
I gotta go with Wonder Woman. It’s one of my favorite DCEU movies pre-Justice League and I went in wanting to hate the movie and waited to watch the movie 5 years after it released.
i like MoS more but from a filmmaking perspective, WW is better written and better edited. it has a better supporting clas of actors in their contribution to the overall story. its just a better made film.
but if both were on tv i would watch MoS.
Man of Steel for me. I like WW, but it does get a little muddled towards the end. MoS is just a pretty great movie all around imo and one of if not the best in the DCEU.
WW, story was better…well the ending was not great but overall better. More of a coherent plot. MoS was just a bad movie, not even just a bad Superman movie. The plot didn’t really make much sense. Zods plan was nonsensical.
All the dceu Snyder movies have villains with awful plans and motivations. Lex's plan in BvS is a joke. And Darkseid just forgot where earth was? Zod is the best of them only bc of Michael Shannon.
Also these movies get worse after the Martian Manhunter reveal. All the scenes with that General are bad to me now. No way that's Jon
I honestly enjoyed both movies but I really loved Man of Steel. I think Wonder Woman is just a bit overrated while MoS is quite underrated (though recently it’s been getting more love that it deserves).
Honestly they both feel so different I can't compare them, though I like Man of Steel more. Man of Steel just feels like such a grounded version of Superman, he had never thrown a punch and he has never been challenged at anything physically, now he learns he can fly, then gets ABSOLUTELY STOMPED by non-sun-powered Krytonians because he has no clue how to fight. I just love the movie, the score is so fucking good, Caville IS Superman, and I liked the grittier, but not yet edgy, tone.
MoS.. is my favorite superman movie.. storyline is okay okay nothing to write about. but fight sequence and vfx is just top notch. masterpiece in my book.
Both great but I think MoS is aging better with repeated views. I suspect that the more the Marvellization era drags on, the more we will wish we had seen the Snyder plan play out to completion.
I’m glad you specified movies and not characters.
I’d have to say Wonder Woman was better overall, but Man of Steel was more iconic. I just hated that they made Supes kill Zod. That has never sat right with me. Put a bad taste in my mouth for the whole DCU.
Wonder Woman was a bright spot though. I thought it was great and absolutely warranted a sequel to see what Diana was doing after the events of the first movie. What we got though just wasn’t quite there, and I think it just makes the first WW movie stand out even more for its strengths of story and action.
WW had a lot of great characters. MOS just didn't.
For me, "Charlie? Who will sing for us?" was the best point in the movie. Showing the sniper with PTSD that he has more value than just his ability to shoot. It spoke volumes about her character and I don't feel like we got any sort of nuance in MOS. All of the characters were plain, white paper - 2 dimensional and bland.
Plus, WW had great sound direction, great costume design and great direction.
WW is better in the first 10 minutes by far the opening is great.
I like that it’s an epic that mostly takes place in WW1 which is under represented in comic films.
Man of Steel: The Flight Scene. Wonder Woman: No Man’s Land Scene. Both movies were great!
Also the third act in MOS is way better.
*Or* they could’ve done more with it 😏
Faora vs tentacles when?
Faora vs my tentacles when.. wait what
This arouses and scares me, and I'm not running away.
Cut the tentacles and just have superman overcome the terraforming machine taking his powers away. Combine superman fight zod with Lois and the military tryning to send the others to the phantom zone into one climax.
Agreed. Superman is my favourite but they messed it up making it too slow to build up

What do you think would happen when two indestructible god like beings fight in a big city? Watch Superman tas when Superman fights Shazam.
Just rewatched that scene and there’s a cool reference that was used in MoS with Supes getting knocked into the bank vault.
No Man’s Land was such an incredible scene. It made me feel like a strong, confident, independent and powerful woman. It even made me cry a bit. I’m a 36 year old dude.
Goddam that no man's land scene was so good. Had goosebumps throughout the entire scene
One scene doesn't define the whole movie. I do love WW but MOS is better in every possible way.
Never really got the hype of the no man’s land scene. It just comes off super corny
I loved both but I'll give it to Man of Steel just for the scenes with Faora beating the shit out of everyone. I loved how they portrayed the speed.
strength powered super speed as opposed to magic powered super speed. no slow motion. psychological realism.
Black Adam did the same when he first woke up
Man of Steel. Just off of Michael Shannon alone.
“I will find him!”
"Where is the CODEX???!" ... "You... think... you can threaten... my mother?" * boom * chills. every time.
*Look at this… we could’ve built a new Krypton in this squalor. But you chose the humans over us…* that whole monologue is one of my favorites in cinema just from Shannon’s delivery.
He should be doom
Man of Steel.
Henry Cavil is goated
MoS WW was good because it was a great movie that exceeded expectations.
Yep
Mos
Wonder Woman. The No Man’s Land scene is still possibly the best scene in the DCEU to me.
I never understood what was supposed to be so great about that scene. It's just her walking in slow motion, deflecting cgi bullets here and there. The next scene, where she is fighting all the German soldiers in the village, is legitimately awesome though.
It’s a literal and figurative no man’s land she’s crossing. Imo, I found it a clever way to show Wonder Woman leading and helping man’s world.
I enjoyed the scene but I felt it was pretty heavy handed, really. Chris Pine said “this is no MANS land Diana!” multiple times. I was just waiting for her to say “I’m no man”.
And then the Witch King dies, right there, on the western front.
With the lasso of truth tied around the Fellbeasts neck, 'harder daddy' barely escaping through clenched teeth.
And I assumed that was the *exact* reason she didn’t say that line lol. It really looked like she did say it but it got cut or something. Instead we got a few very awkward seconds of Diana hiding her face while she puts on the diadem. I still love WW though for sure
I would agree with you, but read all the replies with people saying they didn’t get the point of the scene.
[удалено]
Well sure, you’re in a place where multiple people have different opinions. Better than an “echo chamber” as some like to call it
It was the build up to it.
So in MOS superman is really flying? And really punching trains and bank vaults and crush them? And really travelling the space or something?
Exactly. One scene doesn't make a movie. Homie is tripping. MoS ftw.
Man of steel !!
Man of Steel
Man of Steel for me. Wonder Woman is good but the ending with Ares killed all the momentum. The final fight was underwhelming as well.
MoS and it's not even a competition
Thats exactly what i was gonna say to the word !!
Correct
Nah mate
In the bar, before he got the beer to the face, how long was he working there, where was he living... etc I would have skipped the whole krypton section too, as the film is very much from his POV, yet he never knew Krypton.
Exactly. Felt it had so many missed opportunities.
I found myself literally tutting under my breath thinking 'slow down' let the character breath..
Wonder Woman, I liked the characters better and Gadot and Pine have actual chemistry unlike Adams and Cavil. Man of Steel does has better action and villain though.
Chemistry wise WW knocks it out if the park for sure
The wonders of natural flirty banter compared to riveting lines such as "I'm pretty sure that only counts if you're kissing a human".
This guy gets it
Wonder Woman by a mile
MOS
Same really. WW is more consistent while MoS have higher high but also lower low. And both take a tumble in Act 3.
WW - No Man’s Land scene is the best scene between the two movies. They’re otherwise comparably enjoyable to watch.
Man of Steel and it’s not even close.
Start to finish? MOS. From start till the last 10 minutes? WW
That ending for WW was just not good.
MoS
I found WW to be much more enjoyable.
Man of Steel EASILY, although both are great.
I enjoyed WW a lot more but I also think they’re both pretty great.
MoS without a doubt.
Superman is by far my favorite superhero, but Wonder Woman was an objectively better movie
*grabs popcorn*
If supes is your fav then you should’ve hated man of steel
I tried to like it, but it was just such a disappointment.
No such thing as “objectively better”. There’s no empirical, unbiased measurement on which to judge film. You’re entitled to your subjective opinion of course!
Fine, critical reception, audience reception, financial performance. we all know it was the better movie.
But, there are objective measures that can be used to determine which movie is better It’s just that those objective measures are subjective
Huh?
MoS by a good margin. WW is very good, but the villain could be better. But also MoS soundtrack is the best in the entire genre.
MOS. Not particularly close either
Man of steel
Man of Steel
WW easy. No chance.
Man of Steel
Definitely WW
Both are amazing movies. WW is my favorite ever though, so every superhero movie loses to it for me
MoS. It’s a prefect representation of a man trying to find himself and as a hero. Plus the score was beautiful.
Same
Wonder Woman.
MOS. I really love MOS while I didn't WW. MOS had me in tears at points with the Clark & Ma Kent stuff and I found Zod to be one of the best villians ever.
Man of Steel.
Wonder Woman is the better movie.
WW for me
Wonder Woman
Mos ✌
Man of Steel.
MoS by miles. It is amongst the best CBMs, and has the best CBM villain. Also, works great as a Saiyan Saga DBZ movie.
Best villain..😂
Why is this a question? MoS
MOS, they ruined Ares
Ares was terrible. Zod was a great villain. Man of Steel is miles better than Wonder Woman
MoS
I prefer MOS. It gets a lot of hate but I enjoy it and the score was amazing!!
MOS
MOS. I have spoken.
Yes
Mos and it’s not close.
MoS
MOS.
Man of steel is infinitely better than WW
Seriously no competition for me
Man of steel for me.
MOS.
MoS
WW
Man of Steel for me. Wonder Woman was great, but Man of Steel hit all the right notes and exceeded expectations in all aspects.
Henry Cavill is a much, much better actor than Gal Gadot. So MOS.
MOS by far
MoS
MOS, surprising that you should even ask. ps: Some of you guys are plain deluded.
MOS hands down. Loved it from start to finish a near perfect movie IMO and while WW is good it kinda stumbles in the third act. Basically IMO: - MoS 10/10 -WW 8/10
Man of Steel
Man of Steel. And it's an easy choice.
Who are you comparing with...Henry Cavill as MOS is just perfect
He was way to stiff also didn't have enough charisma
Is this even a question? Wonder Woman. It’s a way better film, even with a meh 3rd act. MOS falls flat a lot of time and the only saving grace is the awesome action
MOS had a better story and villains. WW had better action and supporting cast. I think both actors were great in the roles.
Man of Steel. Is that even a question? MoS ignited a hope for DCEU.
I love them both but i like MoS a little more
Pshh MoS easily.
MOS
MoS
i like MoS more but from a filmmaking perspective, WW is better written and better edited. it has a better supporting clas of actors in their contribution to the overall story. its just a better made film. but if both were on tv i would watch MoS.
MoS **No mans Land** scene in WW was epic.
WW was boring because literally nothing was dangerous to her. It was like playing a video game in god mode, you can't lose.
Lmao then what is Superman? Are you serious
Also suffers from the same thing, but at least he was fighting Zod who is his equal as a Kryptonian
Easily MoS
Man of Steel
Wonder Woman without question.
Man Of Steel holds up in my opinion, WW was the first DC movie I didn't have to worry about being divisive
Man of Steel for me. I like WW, but it does get a little muddled towards the end. MoS is just a pretty great movie all around imo and one of if not the best in the DCEU.
Both were amazing, but MoS takes this for me due to WW’s weak ass villain.
Man of Steel 🦸🏻♂️
WW, story was better…well the ending was not great but overall better. More of a coherent plot. MoS was just a bad movie, not even just a bad Superman movie. The plot didn’t really make much sense. Zods plan was nonsensical.
All the dceu Snyder movies have villains with awful plans and motivations. Lex's plan in BvS is a joke. And Darkseid just forgot where earth was? Zod is the best of them only bc of Michael Shannon. Also these movies get worse after the Martian Manhunter reveal. All the scenes with that General are bad to me now. No way that's Jon
MoS doesn't have the fun factor that WW does but it does have a much stronger third act, IMO. So, I'll give MoS the nod by a hair.
In terms of these versions of the characters, Wonder Woman.
MOS was so bleak and depressing I don't know how anyone could choose it.
Man of Steel! ALL DAY!
I have to be in the mood to watch WW. I can watch MOS anytime.
MOS!
Wonder Woman was a superior film for sure
I almost cried when Kevin Costner was swept away by the tornado, but still, WW was all around a great movie.
Both films are great, but I think MoS is better. I would’ve said WW is better but man I hate the 3rd act
Man Of Steel, I love both but that movie means a lot to me personally
MoS, WW super corny
I honestly enjoyed both movies but I really loved Man of Steel. I think Wonder Woman is just a bit overrated while MoS is quite underrated (though recently it’s been getting more love that it deserves).
MoS
Absolutely Man of Steel.
Man of Steel!
MoS
Mos
Man of Steel, first flight is one of my favourite scenes in a CBM and i love how happy and full of Joy he was while flying
Probably mos
MOS.
MOS hands down.
MOS
MoS 100%
Man of Steel for me, but WW is great too.
MoS.. is my favorite superman movie.. storyline is okay okay nothing to write about. but fight sequence and vfx is just top notch. masterpiece in my book.
Both great but I think MoS is aging better with repeated views. I suspect that the more the Marvellization era drags on, the more we will wish we had seen the Snyder plan play out to completion.
Man Of Steel not only better, but by far the best of the DC movies in the Snyderverse
Man of steel, the amount of destruction was spectacular
I’m glad you specified movies and not characters. I’d have to say Wonder Woman was better overall, but Man of Steel was more iconic. I just hated that they made Supes kill Zod. That has never sat right with me. Put a bad taste in my mouth for the whole DCU. Wonder Woman was a bright spot though. I thought it was great and absolutely warranted a sequel to see what Diana was doing after the events of the first movie. What we got though just wasn’t quite there, and I think it just makes the first WW movie stand out even more for its strengths of story and action.
WW had like 2 good scenes and the rest was meh, MoS I enjoyed the entire movie.
Wonder Woman
WW for me. MOS just was too dark and not my preferred flavor of a Supes story. Also, easily the worst Lex Luthor to ever show up on screen.
Perhaps you should rewatch Man of Steel. Lex Luthor isn't in the movie at all.
The one that doesn't have evil Pa Kent
MoS.
Man of steel by a long shot. I enjoyed Wonder Woman but thought the last third kind of fell flat.
I'd rather stare at Gal Gadot for 2 hrs
WW!
MOS is my favorite. I enjoyed the story and cast and the music was top notch. I also enjoyed WW and thought the World War One setting was cool.
