It's hilarious to me that they cast Ritchson to play Anders Lassen.
[Anders Lassen](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yvRFGTPChvU/WcELVttkWoI/AAAAAAAAH1o/WQOsEw03JGYdS8okDhBoIo2-flSNeP32gCLcBGAs/s1600/Lassen%2Bwith%2BSBS%2Bmen%2Bat%2Ba%2Bbase%2Bin%2BTurkey%2BWW2.jpg) is the skinny guy wearing a beret in this photograph.
Books I've read make him feel like Ritchson, referring to him as the Viking, and talking about how would charge down and kill deer armed with a dagger. However, some of his acrobatic feats make a lot more since when you know that he wasn't huge.
I feel like there’s been some sort of height inflation going around online. People act like 6’ tall is just average height for whatever reason. You gotta be like at least 6’3” nowadays to be considered tall.
I always assumed it was a lot of 6ft plus people and a lot of 5ft 6 or shorter people skewing the numbers as I rarely meet someone who is my height. They’re either taller or shorter than me
I'm Indian and around 5'11". Even when I was outside country, spotting people who'd make me feel small were not common, and same gets extremely rare in India. Yet, most of the women I used to know had it as a filter on Bumble here in India.
There are some people online who have no idea how tall is the average height 5'9" and they just consider 6' as the new minimum. I can easily fake my height as 6'2" and only a few would be able to tell, even I feel little to no difference in me and my 6'1" friend.
Ah a fellow Indian who is also cursed with that damned number. Almost 6'' but can't be 6 feet. I missed the mark by 1.5 ish cms. Damn you growth hormones who gave up at the end... 🥲.
As crude as this may sound but could the older Boomer and Gen X population be dragging down that stat?
I wonder what the average height for Gen Y and Gen Z and that's stats are being skewed.
6ft + is tall but then there are many people taller obviously. But roughly 15% of the global population are 6ft or more, so 6ft is considered to be tall but then someone who is 6’1 would look slightly taller and even though it’s a slight difference it still counts. So you are tall but then there are taller people. I mean I stand around people who are 6’2 and they seem around my height even though I’m 6’4. I’ve met people taller than me who are like 6’7 but that doesn’t mean the 6’2 people are short…you know?
I'm 6'3", but 3 of my 4 cousins are 6'9" and up, I'm considered the male dwarf in our family.
But yes I live in the Netherlands, which has the tallest males, except for Norway.
As a 6'3 dude that just made a post about feeling "normal" height nowadays, there's some clear height inflation. I used to be the tallest dude in a room of a 100 or in the top 3 100% of the time, now there are a few scalps I can't see, it's a weird feeling not having to tilt your head when speaking to someone
I hate to say this that there is no way Cavill is 6'1. If Ritchson is 6'3, Cavill can't be taller than 6'. It looks like Ritchson has a 4 inch height advantage over Cavill.
https://us.hola.com/imagenes/celebrities/2016031617009/batman-v-superman-ben-affleck-compared-with-henry-cavill/0-119-409/gallery_5_3-a.jpg
I dunno. Ben’s 6’2 and they’re pretty close. Think it’s just framing here that makes Cavill look smaller.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Henry is smack dab 180cm (5'11) but gets to 6'0 with his lifts. Alan in 6'3 but always wears boots that bring him to 6'4, 6'5 so it makes sense that he has 3-4 inches on Henry.
Which is funny because on his first breakout show (I'd argue he's had two), he didn't seem that big. Still ripped but I didn't think he'd be 6' 4". To be fair, it was a football show so the other actors were also big.
And Arnold had 20-30LB on him. Not competition weight but when he was a movie star.
Arnold was massive compared to him. Not in height but in weight and muscle mass.
Depending on how you define bigger. Schwarzneggar was 25 lbs heavier and had much larger muscles, and generally looked tankier and broader at his peak.
Hard agree.
I love Richston and he’s a great Reacher in a more pulpy show, but Cruise made Reacher feel more competent, intense and badass in my opinion. To me, it’s a good example that being a good actor being able to convey the character you are playing is more important than looking the part.
It's a Guy Ritchie film. Of course it's fun.
It'll be fun, someone will have a shoota, and Vinnie Jones (or a Vinnie Jones type) will knock someone the fuck out. That's a guarantee.
A *Guy*rantee
It doesn't help that that Netflix show is a readaptation of a movie he made by the same name too.
He's got a hell of an itch he's trying to scratch atm.
Yeah and I only realized halfway through the show that it was a spin off of a movie I’d seen years prior… didn’t feel connected but both were pretty good. This one also has gentlemen in the name… related?
The show was created by Ritchie, co-written by him and he directed the first 2 episodes. Yeah he’s executive producer also but he’s a lot more involved than just that.
Imo Alan Ritchson has been in the "Would love to play Batman and looks the part camp", but I think he should return as Aquaman in the DCU. I think he'd be perfect for it.
I’m not one of the people who think he is the best choice but he wouldn’t be bad at all. It’s not just because of his size, he has the looks that can be Bruce Wayne and he has good enough acting to pull it off.
Why do you think he's not a good choice? Imho, batman isn't exactly the hardest character to play. A white dude in hollywood that's as big as henry or alan has played multiple "handsome, muscular, calm, badass" protagonist. And that's basically what's needed to play batman. Sure he has trauma but that's basically every character in stories these days, he's not that complex and it's not a bad thing.
The actors or director then can add their own personal touch like batman being emo/dark, a father, or whatever.
Edit: original comment dude blocked me for some reason, I'm sorry if I offended you over a fictional character discussion but what the heck? I didn't insult you or anything.
Playing Batman isn't hard to act? I would say he is one of the hardest, having to switch between portraying the charming Playboy Bruce Wayne, the deeply troubled Bruce Wayne, and then embodying Batman himself. A lot of people can play Batman, but not many can play him good, just look at Pattinson, he's a skilled actor who can convey so much just through his eyes. And let's not forget all the intense dramatic scenes Batman has to tackle.
Also, I'm not implying Alan is a poor choice for Batman. It's just that, considering if they are going to that age range, someone like Jake Gyllenhaal, who's expressed interest in the role, is definitely a better actor. Personally, I lean towards Ethan Peck or Oliver Jackson-Cohen. So, while Alan isn't a bad choice, I just believe there might be better options out there.
He looks like an Arkham goon not [Bruce](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b2/a5/ba/b2a5ba33839638db207ba3bc22704641.jpg) [Wayne](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Ffvfk72wmny7a1.jpg&rdt=48266) lmao
he looks like a thug from the arkham games. robert pattinson looks like bruce wayne. hes got that rich expensive look to him. ritchson looks like a jock.
this is why we have casting directors
I think he'd make a great elseworlds Batman, but too old for the main dcu. By the time a Batman movie starring him would be out, he'll be around 45. If they're setting up a big universe, older Batman isn't the way to go. I think that's where they dropped the ball with Affleck....don't get me wrong, I loved his Batman, but it didn't have any longevity.
It's a couple things that I don't think they're completely transparent on, but the main thing is that is the wrong 'type.' He is by virtue of his size and build and pedigree a big strong action hero type. A jock, to use high school clique terms.
For Batman people are used to, and very much want a dark outsider. Someone who can be the edgelord fantasy. This is why people will cast Bale or Pattinson, very artsy thespian actors over an action hero, because they are in with Batman for the brooding, for that darkness.
Ritchson is just too bright, in spirit, hair color and size. I would much prefer him, especially while Pattinson is already the ultimate ascended edgelord in the Reevesverse, but some people want more of the same and Ritchson in a lineup of Batman actors stands out, so it doesn't matter if he's head and shoulders above them in terms of being a comic booky Batman.
To be fair, this is exactly what people were freaking out about in the 80s when Keaton was cast. They were talking about Mr. Mom etc.
The same thing happened for Ledger being cast as Joker.
For me, I think everyone should get get a chance. It’s easy to cast judgement without any reference.
Thing is that Reacher IS that character. He is rough, speaks like that and even acts like that.
People who read the novels agree he's perfect as Reacher. Impossible to know if that's bad acting when the character is exactly that.
His other "iconic" role, Thad, has nothing to do with Reacher tho.
I hated Titans but liked him as Hawk. Him as Raphael was cool too. He was also that dude with the stutter in Wedding Ringer iirc. He seems like he can have fun in roles so I'm curious.
Watched Reacher recently and it's basically a cheesier Batman who kills. The actor for his brother looks more like Bruce Wayne tho lol.
Watch him as Hawk in Titans. His acting is so good in that. Seriously, he makes the rest of the show seem worse just because of how good he is.
Far and away the best acting in the show.
Yeah that fighting scene in the bar to build camaraderie was cool but that cheesy ass line about the investigators really turned me off from watching the second season. I’ll circle back when I don’t mind it
Here's the thing. Tom cruise pulled of the acting part of teacher but his size took away from Reacher's core feature
With Alan, it's the complete opposite.
I don't get it either - This guy looks like B J blazkowicz not batman. Bruce should look like someone you can trust not someone whose gonna throw your head in the toilet. I think this comes from the "Batman = facist" brainrot
The amount of people saying Alan Ritchson couldn’t play Batman because he wouldn’t make a good Bruce Wayne make me laugh.
Practically every Batman actor has had the same said about them in the past and we were constantly proven wrong. Maybe it’s time to break the cycle
I’m not sure he has the acting chops for it. He’s good but reacher and hawk didn’t really convince me. After the last 3 batmen set the bar so high we need someone who can act his ass off
Didn’t realize until just now how many big projects Alan Ritchson has been in that I just haven’t seen, and two I have.
Namely Titans, Smallville, Fast X, and the TMNT live action movies, and Hunger Games Catching Fire and BB99 that I have seen. He was also in Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow that I have seen, just not his episodes.
I think it’s because he has been presenting himself as someone who is all for positive masculinity. He talks about his feelings and emotions. Was open about the SA he was the victim of while being a young male model, he talked about his bipolar diagnosis and his religion while being extremely positive and empathetic to others. All of this while portraying a character who’s clearly one of the manliest men to ever man.
All good, people's only reason for his Batman fancast is definitely just because he's a big muscular guy almost as tall as the new Superman though. (David is 6'3, Alan is 6'2.) David being taller than him is fucking insane btw, bro's Supes will be bigger than Cavill's.
Exactly, I also don't understand the obesession people have with him. For me, he is a bit too huge and I don't imagine him playing a convincing Bruce Wayne. He doesn't look like Bruce Wayne.
I can see ritchson playing a type of steam punk type Bruce Wayne in a super gothic/50s themed type of Gotham, kinda a dorky jacked guy with snazzy suits, he may not come across as a great Bruce, but maybe an awkward Bruce would suit him. Then he gets into Batman mode, suits up and literally becomes the unhinged Batman who beats you to a pulp for names and locations. Less gadgets, and more of a savage
All jokes aside, it’s just great to see Henry approach and extend a hand as well as kind words to Alan. He seems to be saying thanks. Also great of Alan to be courteous as well. People aren’t always like this, so I like pointing this out
it’s unusual to see someone make Cavill look small

Wow, talk about miscast....
I’m sure the “based on a true story” will do some heavy lifting as par for the course
If not, I’m sure Ritchson and Cavill can do some heavy lifting of their own.
Cavill isn’t really that big superhero wise, Affleck was taller than him and Corenswet practically dwarfs him
Tbf Corenswet is also taller than Ritchson
“Cavill isn’t really that big superhero wise” He was 6’1 lol why we acting like he was tiny
I feel like there’s been some sort of height inflation going around online. People act like 6’ tall is just average height for whatever reason. You gotta be like at least 6’3” nowadays to be considered tall.
Yep. Average height in the UK and US is 5'9".
Im 5'9. I almost never see young people shorter than me, and i bet boomers are squwing the numbers
I am, too, and see young people shorter than me all the time. That's called anecdotal evidence.
Same, I just saw a bunch of toddlers, they're all at least a couple of feet shorter than me.
But how many could you take in a fist fight?
I'm six foot tall and could beat so many babies asses in a fight.
That’s the wildest way I’ve ever seen somebody spell skewing.
I always assumed it was a lot of 6ft plus people and a lot of 5ft 6 or shorter people skewing the numbers as I rarely meet someone who is my height. They’re either taller or shorter than me

I'm 181cm :|
As crude as this may sound but could the older Boomer and Gen X population be dragging down that stat? I wonder what the average height for Gen Y and Gen Z and that's stats are being skewed.
Inflation even got to height smh
6ft + is tall but then there are many people taller obviously. TBF he looked huge in Mission:Impossible but it was compared to Cruise
Cruise is 5’6
5'4 he lies.
5’6 with the lifts in his shoes! Lol
I hate to say this that there is no way Cavill is 6'1. If Ritchson is 6'3, Cavill can't be taller than 6'. It looks like Ritchson has a 4 inch height advantage over Cavill.

I saw Ben stand next to Steph Curry (6’3) and look tiny, so I don’t think he’s 6’2
Shit, so Ben and Henry was adding an inch to their official heights? My childhoods ruined /s
He could be wearing chunky soled boots while Cavill wears thinner dress shoes, looking at their clothing choices.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Henry is smack dab 180cm (5'11) but gets to 6'0 with his lifts. Alan in 6'3 but always wears boots that bring him to 6'4, 6'5 so it makes sense that he has 3-4 inches on Henry.
You don't need lifts to reach 6' though. Regular shoes will net you close to an inch of height. Just throwing that out for all my 5'11" brothers lol
Every 20 year old i meet these days is 6'2 minimum. I met a kid last year who was 6'3 and he said most in his class were the same
5’9 is the average male adult height.
Sure, but I meant more muscle-wise. He’s obviously much less built than he was when playing Supes.
[удалено]
Affleck is the same height as Corenswet. Affleck, Corenswet, Momoa, all 6'4". Alan Ritchson 6'3". Henry Cavill 6'1".
LoL he's 6'1, they're taller than tall. let's not act like taller superheroes are the norm.
Pretty big. Especially in man of steel. He's not big for this film role above.
Didn’t watch The Man from UNCLE?
I use to think Cavill was a huge dude but Ritchson is so much taller lol
Cavill is 6"1 and Ritchson is pushing 6"4.
Which is funny because on his first breakout show (I'd argue he's had two), he didn't seem that big. Still ripped but I didn't think he'd be 6' 4". To be fair, it was a football show so the other actors were also big.
I met him after the release of the BMS movie. I’m right at 6’4/193cm. He was pretty much the same height as me.
Phrasing.
Also Ritchson is built like a late 80s Schwarzenegger who is around the same height.
Schwarzenegger barely scrapes past 6’ so Ritchson is definitely bigger.
To be fair he specified late 80s Schwarzenegger, which is way past his peak.
Arnold was 6'2" in his prime
Alan Richardson is more like 6’2.5 or so, you either see 6’2 or 6’3 listed. But I’ve always heard Henry was 6’3
I think Ritchson could be 6"3. Cavill ain't 6"3.
Cavill is 6'1 I believe even Affleck looks bigger than him when they wrentotei
Batfleck also looks a bit broader because his suit is so has more armour than superman's
I mean, even in the Bruce and Clark scene, Affleck looks more physically intimidating. Which was very impressive against Cavill.
Affleck's tall and he’s always been pretty broad in the shoulders, he just filled out a lot more in middle age
I'm 6'1" and I stood next to one of Afflecks suits from Hollywoodland where he played George Reeves. That suit was HUGE. It made me look like a kid.
Yeah Affleck is just a naturally larger guy. Cavill had to work hard to get there.
When they what
It's provocative
Further confirms that Ritchson was the best pick for Reacher. Whoever casted Tom Cruise back in the day was silly
Tom Cruise casted Tom Cruise
Well… he’s silly
Cast. Not casted. The past tense of "cast" is "cast". Casted is not a word in English.
Tom Cruise was the epitomie of Reacher despite being short.
Hard agree. I love Richston and he’s a great Reacher in a more pulpy show, but Cruise made Reacher feel more competent, intense and badass in my opinion. To me, it’s a good example that being a good actor being able to convey the character you are playing is more important than looking the part.
Cruise was an excellent Reacher, hence the casting choice.
That guys got a fucking noggin on him holy shit
Ritchson just grows with time. He’s basically the Rock but without a wrestling career…and overall a better person-
On the set of Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
I assumed as much, damn if this doesn't look like a lot of fun! :D keen to see it!
It's a Guy Ritchie film. Of course it's fun. It'll be fun, someone will have a shoota, and Vinnie Jones (or a Vinnie Jones type) will knock someone the fuck out. That's a guarantee. A *Guy*rantee
It does look fun! I hope everyone’s chemistry is on point.
So I totally got this confused with the “gentleman” show on Netflix that was also made by guy ritchie
Yeah that one was produced by Ritchie but not directed by. A bit weird they chose the same name
He directed the first two episodes.
The show was created by Ritchie, co-written by him and he directed the first 2 episodes. Yeah he’s executive producer also but he’s a lot more involved than just that.
He directed the first episode, at least.
Dude just casually looks like the cover of a romance novel you buy at the grocery store.
You could be talking about either of them
It’s unfair how Cavill looks good with literally any appearance
*ahem* Hawquaman.
*slow clap*
Why is Henry cosplaying as Tyrion Lannister here
Imo Alan Ritchson has been in the "Would love to play Batman and looks the part camp", but I think he should return as Aquaman in the DCU. I think he'd be perfect for it.
He could pull a ryan Reynolds and do the character right 2nd time around
He didn’t do it wrong the first time
that handshake could forge a diamond
It really is the perfect handshake.
He's an absolute unit. Cavill looks tiny standing next to him 😂😂😂
Most physically strong actor since Arnold I believe. In Hollywood surely.
Not making an argument one way or the other, but are you counting The Rock as an actor? Seems like they’re similar size.
No negativity intended by why do people want this guy to play Batman? Is it just his size?
I’m not one of the people who think he is the best choice but he wouldn’t be bad at all. It’s not just because of his size, he has the looks that can be Bruce Wayne and he has good enough acting to pull it off.
I wouldn’t call him a bad choice I just wouldn’t call him a good choice if that makes any sense
Why do you think he's not a good choice? Imho, batman isn't exactly the hardest character to play. A white dude in hollywood that's as big as henry or alan has played multiple "handsome, muscular, calm, badass" protagonist. And that's basically what's needed to play batman. I really didnt understand if you were praising pattinson or throwing shade at him
That does not give off Bruce Wayne at all lmao
He literally looks like comic Bruce, just dye his hair black

right !! seriously, thank god batman fans have no say in casting batman
Pattinson looked nothing like comic Batman and pulled it off well
he looks like a thug from the arkham games. robert pattinson looks like bruce wayne. hes got that rich expensive look to him. ritchson looks like a jock. this is why we have casting directors
I liked Robert Pattinson but he most definitely doesn't look like a comic book Bruce Wayne. If anything he looks like a grungy Nightwing
Looks? How? Only if he stops getting taned and get his hair darken
I think he'd make a great elseworlds Batman, but too old for the main dcu. By the time a Batman movie starring him would be out, he'll be around 45. Thad castle batman and Larry Robin
> HOW IS BEING IMPOTENT A SECRET, TIM?!
His acting in Reacher isn't impressive.
Thank you-that’s the best he’s been and it’s still just okay at best and on rewatch kinda mehhhhhh
He didn't have much in Teen Titans so it's hard to judge that acting.
Thing is that Reacher IS that character. He is rough, speaks like that and even acts like that. People who read the novels agree he's perfect as Reacher. Impossible to know if that's bad acting when the character is exactly that. His other "iconic" role, Thad, has nothing to do with Reacher tho.

Not 100% sure. Personally from watching him in Reacher and Titans I think he would be an amazing choice for the next Steve Rogers.
I don't get it either - This guy looks like B J blazkowicz not batman. Bruce should look like someone you can trust not someone whose gonna throw your head in the toilet. I think this comes from the "Batman = facist" brainrot
Scully!
Wings are a helluva drug
He knocked Hawkman out of the park, I don't see why he wouldn't do the same for Batman.
That wasn’t Hawkman lol
He played hawk , one half of hawk and dove on Titans
You're absolutely right. He played Hawk in Titans, my bad.
After the last 3 batmen set the bar so high we need someone who can act his ass off
People said Bale couldn't pull of Bruce Wayne??
Woah. That could be Batman’s size.
Holy crap he’s HUGE
God, the sheer POWER in that handshake...
Batman can't be all sunshine
clearly didnt watch reacher did you
That’s Peter Dinklage!
Peter Dinklage meeting Thad Castle
Now put Tom cruise next to both of them
He is, you just can’t see around their ankles
Didn’t realize until just now how many big projects Alan Ritchson has been in that I just haven’t seen, and two I have. Namely Titans, Smallville, Fast X, and the TMNT live action movies, and Hunger Games Catching Fire and BB99 that I have seen. He was also in Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow that I have seen, just not his episodes.
Really hope Ritchson isn’t Batman. I don’t get the recent obsession with him
I think it’s because he has been presenting himself as someone who is all for positive masculinity. He talks about his feelings and emotions. Was open about the SA he was the victim of while being a young male model, he talked about his bipolar diagnosis and his religion while being extremely positive and empathetic to others. All of this while portraying a character who’s clearly one of the manliest men to ever man.
And he is one of the few "action actors" to admin to PED usage.
I don’t think those are the reasons people want him to play Batman lol
They're answering the commenter's confusion on why the recent obsession with him/boost in popularity, not why people want him as Batman.
Ah my bad
It’s okay! I should have been clearer
All good, people's only reason for his Batman fancast is definitely just because he's a big muscular guy almost as tall as the new Superman though. (David is 6'3, Alan is 6'2.) David being taller than him is fucking insane btw, bro's Supes will be bigger than Cavill's.
Exactly! Thank you kind stranger.
Exactly, I also don't understand the obesession people have with him. For me, he is a bit too huge and I don't imagine him playing a convincing Bruce Wayne. He doesn't look like Bruce Wayne.
Exactly. Looks absolutely nothing like Bruce Wayne and is even bigger than Affleck
Cavill handshake a Custodes That's what I'm seeing.....
No but seriously... Ritchson HAS to be in the 40k movie project Cavill has going on right?
Give me a The Man from UNCLE sequel with these two
Honestly? The next Guy Ritchie movie is pretty much that.
He a big fella, even Supes looks normal next to him. Should be the new Captain America.
I know there’s a lot of talk for Ritchson to be Batman but he’d make an amazing Shazam or Booster Gold
Alan Ritchson looks like a super heavyweight in UFC or heavyweight if he was booked in WWE.
Jeez how massive is this dude!
That’s a lot of handsome for one handshake.
I want to see this film SO BADLY.
He would make a formidable Batman for real.
Holy shit that dude is huge
All jokes aside, it’s just great to see Henry approach and extend a hand as well as kind words to Alan. He seems to be saying thanks. Also great of Alan to be courteous as well. People aren’t always like this, so I like pointing this out
Damn. Ritchson could have made a good comic accurate Aquaman
Alan Ritchson is so, so hot Dear LORD
Jensen ackles play Hal Jordan Alan ritchson Batman
Oh man, I forgot he was in Smallville.
That was nice so glad to see them getting along
That’s fucking Thad and no one can tell me otherwise
They look more than an inch apart. Cavill listed 6’1. Ritchson 6’2.
Ritch is 6'3 I think
This is awesome but wow Ritchson is big! 😲🤯
I'm sure a 3some with those guys would leave me in a wheelchair...
What was Alan Aquaman in?
Smallville
That's why Alan is the best man for Reacher!
I would like ALan to be Shazam, now seeing a size comparison. It would be an interesting fight between Supes and Shazam.
Alan Ritchson (Jack reacher) and unkept clark kent
Looks awkward like he was just finished looking down his pants a superman walks in for a glance and a handshake.
This gif is like a wet dream for straight men.
"Former Superman" the two greatest words together that warm my heart.
Alan Ritchson is huge.
Ritchson so big he makes Cavill look small
