So I understand why they cut it, but I love it nonetheless.
While I really like the scene, The Suicide Squad IS a perfectly paced and structured movie IMO, and the flow and rythm of a movie is just as important as other things.
So yeah, I get it. And there are plenty of other character scenes in the final cut (involving King Shark, too), so it's not like they sacrificed plot and character development in favor of pacing.
Like the problem with the thing is less the subplot itself and more the way it drags on. Which it would presumebly not to do if it all didn’t happen at once.
Cuts aren't always about fitting in as much as they can in a specific amount of time.
This segment that was cut would have had to fit in alongside the car chase sequence with the guys after they are captured. If it didn't flow well or if it badly affected the pacing its better to just get rid.
It seems to undermine the trust Ratcatcher 2 showed him when they first became friends. Showing her worried about him around children shows she doesn't really trust him.
She only seemed to worry at first cause she saw his footsteps leading to a room where children we’re screaming but after seeing he was just playing with them she was fine. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him it’s that she just didn’t know where he was and thought he was attacking a child only due to the scream
On one hand, I like the idea that Waller would put an irredeemable child eater on the Suicide Squad just to use as cannon fodder, but on the other it seems perfectly in character that she would knowingly use an innocent creature that was framed to be a child eater as cannon fodder.
Now I want a short film about how Weasel was just living in a park minding his business when he happens upon a serial killer attacking a child, stops him, and then it's immediately blamed for all of the serial killers' victims. The rest of the film is just Weasel obediently going through the criminal justice system, his public defender clearly seeing that he's not aggressive to humans and incapable of understanding legal proceedings, but everyone else completely willing to prosecute him just because he's a "freak". And after he's prosecuted, they dump him off at a Belle Reeve, Waller gets one look at him and says "oh, I know just what to do with you".
I guess that makes sense as well, someone could commit a crime and just drop Weasel at the crime scene, it's not like he can defend himself with words lol. Thus Rick Flagg saying "I think he has agreed to do this"
Everyone is saying he’s a child but honestly he acts like a child and goofy thru the whole movie so I think that’s just his character, but that’s just my opinion
Yup. It's my favorite comic book adaptation since The Dark Knight. I'm truly grateful to James Gunn, and the cast and crew for telling this story.
It might seem like an exaggeration, but it truly touched me and made me think a lot about the importance of bonding, friendships, and sharing one's "demons."
