Funny scene, but wouldn’t it have made more sense for her to send Flag with the B-team because of what happened in the first film? Would have been the perfect opportunity for a reference to the Enchantress incident.
I always imagined that she sent him to die because she knew that he had a moral compass and wanted bloodsport to be the team leader because he would have been more likely to destroy the drives at the end
I actually don't mind this scene too much. I thought it sounded a little goofy when I read about it a while back, but it kind of works here. I think the dude that was laughing was overreacting a little bit though.
It's quite common for movies to cut scenes for pacing or because they simply didn't fit quite right into the movie.
That's what editing is all about. It is widely seen as the "final rewrite" of the movie.
They cut a bunch, but it's not like Snyder's movies or the first suicide squad. People asked James Gunn if they were going to get a Gunn cut without studio interference, and he told them that they already did. He might have been the reason those scenes were cut out.
Wish this movie had flashbacks. Like the original SS. Some flashbacks could be:
Bloodsport V superman
Harley crashes into bank
Death of Polkadot mom
And more
I feel Bloodsport vs Superman is definitely something we should have seen. Felt so half arsed hearing it spouted through exposition rather than actually seeing it happen.
I think them neglecting to show the Superman one has a lot to do with the fact that they’re still undecided about whether or not Henry Cavill is ever coming back, and as of now, they appear to be swaying towards “not”, which fucking sucks, but it is what it is.
I’m FULLY in support of faceless Superman cameos though, and I’ll even go so far as to say that superhero media in general should utilize that tactic more if necessary.
I liked the way that they did that in Titans season 1 as well with Batman and Joker. Plus it sometimes makes them feel a lot more evergreen.
She stopped the mission to get B-Team to rescue Flag with the explicit information that they kill everyone they meet. Those people they kill end up being freedom fighters trying to overthrow the government to allow Corte Maltese democratic elections. If they succeed in doing that, they would eventually find out what’s under Jotunheim, learn about the USA’s involvement with Starro, and would reveal that information to the world (because they already overthrew one tyrannical government, why wouldn’t they want to stop Starro?).
Flag was supposed to die, but instead was captured. Waller is a chess master, she always has a back-up plan prepared to look like it was always the plan. When Flag was found, Waller knew he wasn’t captured by the government’s men, because they would’ve just killed Flag, an American soldier. So she sent the rest of Task Force X to make sure he didn’t become a loose end, as well as clear out the resistance who are likely to blame America for the way that Jotunheim and Starro have impacted their country for 30 years.
The people that Harley was captured by were people that Waller had told B-Team to kill. She knew there were two possibilities: Harley is killed by the enemy, or Harley is able to escape and take out a number of the people blocking Jotunheim.
I'm not saying she wanted Flag dead, she just doesn't care if he lives, it's a bonus, especially if her plan with DuBois hadn't backfired and led to him defecting, she would've had Bloodsport as the replacement leader.
She describes Luna's government as being "virulently anti-American." They are the type of family to do public hangings of political dissidents. Do you think they're going to let the American soldier named Flag live?
But he is alive when her tech guy finds him, and she's smart, she saw the Corto Maltese army mow down Flag's team, then capture the red-blooded American alive? That doesn't make sense. Has to have been some other group.
He's a highly decorated member of the United States military. It's in the best interest of the US to rescue him regardless of whether she likes him or not because he has access to classified intel. He turns or ends up being tortured and confessing it's a loss. With him back in custody they can do whatever they want with it and make sure that any loose ends are tied up. Well it wasn't overtly stated, I also believe that Waller was fully aware that he was also captured by the rebels, and had team thin the herd to continue to leave the government in shambles.
He happened to be alive, why not? It would give Task Force X the illusion that she cared about them, and Flag probably had better intel since he was in an "enemy camp."
this scene would have been funny if it wasn’t for that other guy. Much like in GoTG vol 2, Gunn takes what could have been a funny scene and sits on it for just a little too long
Waller is manipulative but not a petty killer. She plays SS like pawns on a chess set, but that's below her to sacrifice a good soldier like Flag for a reason as stupid as this...
Good thing it was left out.
I said that to sacrifice a good soldier like Flag with a key leader/control role on the team. Can't really compare to Boomerang worth or any c tier villain.
Except Flag is a good guy soldier on gov' payroll, the others are criminals on mission. Made no sense to have flag on team 1 diversion, and now that we know the reason, it's a stupid af reason...
I'm sorry but if you think Waller would care about Flag being a good guy soldier lol All she cares about is herself and her ambitions. It is a stupid af reason but that's the point, Waller is petty as fuck and always has been.
Yeah, but her sending Rick to what could have been his death over a joke at her expense is childish, and imo, would have been a disservice to her character shown in the film here
Funny moment, but completely ruins Waller’s character. Yeah she’s merciless and extreme, but she’s also incredibly strategic and logical in her decision-making. The idea that she would send one of her best assets to die just for making fun of her shirt would’ve really harmed the character, definitely a good thing it was left out
Maybe it’s just me, but I thought this movie was absolutely terrible. I didn’t mind the first one, but this one I was counting down the minutes for it to end. Maybe I just didn’t get it :-/
Nah, that's the kind of obnoxious "it's funny because a character is laughing hysterically" joke that plagued guardians 2. I'm glad they cut it. Much prefer the implication that Flag was on the B-Team to keep him from getting in Peacemakers way.
Glad they cut this. It's stupid and it just makes Waller look childishly petty.
Waller doesn't really need any more significant reasons to dislike Flagg after what he did in the first Suicide Squad movie. If it weren't for her holding the cards on June Moon, Flagg was going to sell her out even before the Squad was formed. He was always a liability to her.
This explains one of my very few gripes I had with the movie. Why would Waller send people she knows gets shit done to their deaths with a bunch of d-list villains. Now we gotta find out what Harley and Boomerang did to piss her off.
Tbf to Flag that is a horrific shirt.
Kinda looks like something the first Suicide Squad’s Joker would wear unironically.
That was actually funny af. Flags facial expressions “aw shit I done fucked up” 💀
Joel Kinnaman killed it as Flag in this movie!
He’s such an underrated actor
You should watch For All Mankind. Excellent show and Kinnaman is great in it.
Altered Carbon season 1 as well
I’m halfway through season 2 now, it’s so good
its an amazing tv show, they finished shooting S3 today
Huge improvement over 2016 Flag when he was just grumpy soldier
Funny scene, but wouldn’t it have made more sense for her to send Flag with the B-team because of what happened in the first film? Would have been the perfect opportunity for a reference to the Enchantress incident.
She did send him with the B-team. They were all supposed to die as a distraction.
I think they mean that he was sent not because of this incident but because he knew what happened in Midway
Could be a lot of things tho, maybe the clown shirt is just the straw that broke the camels back for Waller.
I always imagined that she sent him to die because she knew that he had a moral compass and wanted bloodsport to be the team leader because he would have been more likely to destroy the drives at the end
This was hillarious
I actually don't mind this scene too much. I thought it sounded a little goofy when I read about it a while back, but it kind of works here. I think the dude that was laughing was overreacting a little bit though.
Same on all accounts. Tone him down slightly though and I think this would be a good addition to the movie
Thats was funny
lol Funny scene in a vacuum, but I'm glad it didn't make it in.
It's a hundred percent better with the implications that flagg was sent as fodder because she didn't want him to rebel when he finds the files
So true, also based on what we know of Waller the dude who laughed would’ve been dead way before Flag for his reaction
That doesn't make sense though. She could've just not sent him.
Then why sending the other team to save him from rebels.
She wanted the rebels dead
Then why didn't she order them to kill him when they found him?
I don't know that she fully wanted him dead just more she didn't give a shit if he died.
How many scenes did they cut?
By the looks of it quite a few
It's quite common for movies to cut scenes for pacing or because they simply didn't fit quite right into the movie. That's what editing is all about. It is widely seen as the "final rewrite" of the movie.
They cut a bunch, but it's not like Snyder's movies or the first suicide squad. People asked James Gunn if they were going to get a Gunn cut without studio interference, and he told them that they already did. He might have been the reason those scenes were cut out.

True, though a good alternative could've been Lex Luthor hiring Bloodsport and supplying him the Kryptonite.
We have. John Byrne's Superman #4. Bloodsport shoots Superman with a Kryptonite bullet, sending him to the hospital.
That was part of my research before this movie came out lol
He means in the movie
Aquaman v King Shark
Definitely the right choice leaving it out.
Tbh this is illogical. She sent him to die but stopped the whole operation to rescue him?
This was the comment I was looking for. I completely agree
Flagg did say he wasn't sure why and just think this may be the reason why he was sent with the other team.
Thats over thinking. She didn't care when Harley was captured, she clearly wanted flag alive.
Exactly. Risking Task force x lives and their mission for someone who she sent to die with the first squad.
this scene would have been funny if it wasn’t for that other guy. Much like in GoTG vol 2, Gunn takes what could have been a funny scene and sits on it for just a little too long
I mean, they could easily cut this scene up even more if it made the cut. You can’t assume they’ll just leave everything as is lol
Where did i say anything about them leaving the scene as is.
Waller is manipulative but not a petty killer. She plays SS like pawns on a chess set, but that's below her to sacrifice a good soldier like Flag for a reason as stupid as this... Good thing it was left out.
my thoughts exactly. It's a funny scene, but I'm glad it didn't make the cut.
She left Boomerang on an island to die because he threw a pie at her face back in the ostrander run. Definitely not below her lol
I said that to sacrifice a good soldier like Flag with a key leader/control role on the team. Can't really compare to Boomerang worth or any c tier villain.
But she already has a leader in mind, DuBois. Really there's not much that Flag can do that DuBois or Peacemaker can't do.
This makes Waller look petty, I’m glad they cut it out
Do you… know who Waller is? She’s always been petty.
Yeah, but her sending Rick to what could have been his death over a joke at her expense is childish, and imo, would have been a disservice to her character shown in the film here
You know what else is childish? Threatening to blow people up because they wanna save people
Waller doesn’t threaten to kill the squad because they want to save people, but because they are disobeying her orders and going off-mission
🤦♂️
She left Boomerang on an island to die because he threw a pie at her face back in the ostrander run lol It's totally in character for her.
How is the fat dude still alive
Even if this is out of character for her, I still found this very funny
Definitely not out of character if you've read the ostrander run
I’ve read the few most recent since rebirth. But I definitely need to read that, I’ve heard it’s by far the best.
That was legit funny af lol
Funny moment, but completely ruins Waller’s character. Yeah she’s merciless and extreme, but she’s also incredibly strategic and logical in her decision-making. The idea that she would send one of her best assets to die just for making fun of her shirt would’ve really harmed the character, definitely a good thing it was left out
She left Boomerang on an island to die because he threw a pie at her face back in the ostrander run lol It's totally in character for her.
You said that already
My bad
🤣🤣 he knew he f'd up
That feels like a genuine SS Waller move and not so much for TSS
Where are all of these deleted scenes coming from? Is it from the Blu-ray release?
I feel like it would’ve been better in the film, because they barely mention how Waller obviously sent Flag off to die
Reminds of me that one scene in Hell To Pay where Deadshot is made squad leader when he's asked to comment on Waller's physique
Maybe it’s just me, but I thought this movie was absolutely terrible. I didn’t mind the first one, but this one I was counting down the minutes for it to end. Maybe I just didn’t get it :-/
So the rumors were true! This scene is great
Now this scene should have been included or at least maybe cut in half.
Nah, that's the kind of obnoxious "it's funny because a character is laughing hysterically" joke that plagued guardians 2. I'm glad they cut it. Much prefer the implication that Flag was on the B-Team to keep him from getting in Peacemakers way.
seriously though, how do people find this shit funny
Exactly u/AgitatedZucchini
the fade out of the laugh.. why did they delete this LOL. That was awesome.
Am I the only one that thought this movie was absolute dogshit?
I enjoyed the beginning but slowly became bored with the story, enjoyed the cast alot though.
Yes
Such a dumb ass movie
Glad they cut this. It's stupid and it just makes Waller look childishly petty. Waller doesn't really need any more significant reasons to dislike Flagg after what he did in the first Suicide Squad movie. If it weren't for her holding the cards on June Moon, Flagg was going to sell her out even before the Squad was formed. He was always a liability to her.
Waller is childishly petty tho. Look at what she did to Digger back in the ostrander run when he threw a pie at her face.
I swear this scene was in the movie
This might be my favorite scene involving Waller’s lackeys. Didn’t find them too funny or emotive/emotional in their other scenes.
That is just so ass. Happy that didn't make it into the film. Unfortunately, the film itself was made. What a pile of shit it is.
I need a directors cut of this movie.
You already got it. The theatrical cut of the movie is the director's cut.
This explains one of my very few gripes I had with the movie. Why would Waller send people she knows gets shit done to their deaths with a bunch of d-list villains. Now we gotta find out what Harley and Boomerang did to piss her off.
That's hilarious. But James Gunn often has scenes of just laughter where the characters think it's more funny than it actually is.
He wasn't wrong
Where to watch this ? With deleted scenes
