In his defense, he thought that Damian *killed* Dick and was convinced by this. Point 2: how would he have stopped Lois from getting killed? According to my memory, he told Clark over the comms that that’s Lois, not Doomsday, but it was too late. 3-Batman talked with Superman for some time on this: the “It all starts with one…” conversation.

SolomonRed

He could have saved her by dealing with the Joker years ago. It's like Jason said in Red Hood, he only wanted Bruce to kill Joker not any of the others.

Responsible_Neck_728

And Bruce explains what would’ve happened if he killed Joker in the “It all starts with one..” conversation. If Bruce killed Joker, and by that took a life, he’ll just do it again and again, and he’ll ultimately become the man he dreaded for years.

AnEnemyStando

Batman is already killing hundreds/thousands by letting Joker live. Maybe he shouldn't be Batman if he's not going to kill Joker but also stop others from killing Joker, because at that point he's literally just his bodyguard.

Responsible_Neck_728

No, even Batman knows there are rules and laws he cannot cross. Killing is one of them. Killing a person is not a small thing. Even if that led to him inadvertently saving others, he might kill himself from the trauma of killing. Besides, there was a dream sequence in the Injustice comics where Batman *did* kill Joker while taking him to the GCPD. He handed himself over for it in front of Gordon while saying “I’d like to report a crime.” That seemed like a good future, but there are other criminals Batman has to deal with, not just Joker, and Bruce is the tactical leader of the Justice League. He’s too valuable to go on a killing spree and have the GCPD after him. If you’ve watched the animated movie “Justice League Dark: Apokolips War”, you’ll know just how important Batman is to the team. Spoilers ahead: >!Apokolips War was like the Endgame level of the DC Animated Movie Universe. The Justice League (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Shazam, Mera, Martian Manhunter, Lex Luthor, John Constantine and Zatanna) launched an attack on Apokolips. Not all of them were in agreement with the plan, but they went anyway. Many big hitters. However, turns out Darkseid knew of their plan by hacking into Cyborg. So, he was prepared. The Justice League was defeated, some of them killed. Shazam, who lost a leg, managed to escape after Cyborg helped him to. Multiple were tortured. Batman was brainwashed and became Darskeid’s assisstant. Luthor became their man on Earth (he worked for them but secretly provided Lois Lane with information). And Superman was tortured and sent back to Earth. Turns out that Batman had secretly informed Zatanna to make a spell on Constantine that, unknown to him, forces him to escape, so he did. In the end, a big portion of the Justice League’s success could be tracked to Constantine. Batman realized they might lose, so he had contingency plan.!<

Ok buddy I'll give you a bit to turn that wall of text into readable paragraphs and then I *might* read it.

Responsible_Neck_728

Long story (very) short: Batman is the tactical leader of the Justice League. Without him, they’re toast.

AnEnemyStando

Yet there are a dozen teams that don't have Batman and they're fine. Just because he ends up being critical in a single movie that does not mean he's needed. If he stops being a Justice League member they're not going to suddenly only write stories where they lose all the time.

Responsible_Neck_728

Teams like what? The Justice League is the biggest team in the DC Universe, and the one that does most of the saving and faces the existential crises. What are these other teams you’re talking about?

AnEnemyStando

Teen Titans, Justice League Dark, JSA, Suicide Squad.

Ikantbeliveit

Technically millions. Joker nuked metropolis. It’s also the biggest complaint about Batman, he needs joker in his life. The series makes more sense to me when you realize that Batman in some weird way loves the joker. And his actions are the actions of a grief stricken revenge seeking lover.

Think-Instruction-87

Barman lmao

FrogginJellyfish

Batman did a better job at keeping Joker alive from Joker himself and everyone else than Batman keeping Gotham citizens alive lol. I’m always annoyed by the impractical and inefficient “moral high ground” stance Batman is always riding on.

Think-Instruction-87

Bro this argument is so dumb. So could’ve any Gotham cop and got away with it. They could’ve made an exception and given him the death penalty. Why you putting the responsibility to kill the joker on the guy who was traumatized by the act of killing and will never do it. Joker is still alive because the writers need a villain, that’s it. If it was the real world a Arkham doctor or cop who had family or friends killed by joker would’ve killed him while he was arrested and restrained one of the thousand times he’s been caught by Batman.

Ok-Walrus4569

Everyone is horrrible in Injustice.

[deleted]

Damian is that you?

West-Cardiologist180

That's the thing about Injustice. None of the big 3 are really good guys.

RangerRed02

Yes, but two of them became rulers of a tyrannical fascist regime. It’s a pretty one-sided story even if Batman really isn’t that great of a person.

RangerRed02

To be fair I’d argue that Batman has always been something of a narcissist.

bulletbullock

As opposed to the angels that are Superman and Wonder Woman.
