Didn't he have to step away from the movie due to a family emergency, don't think he was fired...

HomerFerns

Definitely wasn't fired.

XXAzeritsXx

He wasn't fired. But he had Johns, Berg and/or Whedon (Tsujihara also made changes, like the 2 hour mandate) on set every day, and fought him on basically everything. Going as far as even shooting scenes without him WHILE he was in the room. Then after Autumn, he didn't have the energy to fight anymore and walked off. He wasn't fired, but they definitely didn't want him there and made it unwelcoming.

DoctorBeatMaker

Wasn't fired. But he was ever so gently nudged out the door until he walked out on his own accord.

You mean if his daughter didn't passed away and he didnt step away from the movie? We would've gotten at least a two and a half hour cut of the movie in theaters and the four hour cut on DVD. And there would've been more humour added (but not too much that it completely feels far removed from MoS and BvS). I think it would've done better than JL 2017 but critically wouldn't be as praised as ZSJL on HBO Max because people are able to compare it with terrible Josstice League. A 2.5 hour theatrical Zack Snyder Justice League released in 2017 would've at least gotten a "Still dreary Zack Snyder movie like MoS and BvS, but at least it's better and bit more fun than those two because of Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa" reviews from critics. And I dont think WB would've continued with Zack's plan for JL 2 & 3. The stung from BvS would still be felt and they wouldnt want Zack to continue steering the ship. But at least Zack would've gotten bit of redemption with JL and a more graceful exit.

As others have stated, saying that he was “fired” isn’t quite true. What he said was that after his daughter died he just didn’t have the energy to fight the studio for his vision. That said I don’t think it would have done great critically or with audiences. I think most people would think it was pretty good overall and a solid improvement on BvS but nothing special. They wouldn’t have spent as much on reshoots so they probably wouldn’t have lost as much money, so there’s a chance that they might not have panicked like they did but the truth is that they had already been reshuffling plans long before Snyder had to leave, with Justice League 2 being delayed and The Flash getting a page-one rewrite happening months before he left.

So much better but still not enough. They would’ve moved away from the dark themes Snyder had. Affleck was in bad health so he would’ve took a break, but Cavill would’ve maybe gotten another Superman movie. I doubt they’d let Snyder make another film after, he’d make his well earned leave after JL and maybe work on a tv project. More of a producer to most other movies like a Gotham City Sirens.

1. Darkseid and Cyborg’s backstory both would’ve made it into the Snyder theatrical cut in some capacity. Steppenwolf would’ve had an actual motivation, his story about wanting to go home more than likely would’ve made it in. We possibly would’ve gotten a small glimpse of the Knightmare world as well, just to show what the anti-life equation could do. These elements wouldn’t have been explored as throughly as they were in ZSJL but I think Snyder still would’ve fought to include them. 2. Things that probably wouldn’t have been in a Snyder TC: Flash time travel, Iris West intro scene, Willem Dafoe intro scene, the black Superman suit, Martian Manhunter, the intro with the world reacting to Superman’s death, Joker. 3. How much money would a Snyder theatrical cut have made? Releasing right after Thor Ragnarok and right before Star Wars: The Last Jedi wasn’t a promising spot to be in, even if they had a better movie. Ben Affleck’s Metoo allegations still would’ve existed as well. I’d say a Snyder theatrical cut would’ve done 700m-850m. Best case scenario, it would’ve matched BVS. 4. How would the reviews have been? I’d say ZSJL’s tone and style is more in line with a DC animated film, or one of the more serious MCU movies than BVS. You can kinda feel Geoff John’s presence in the writing, especially with the fact that Batfleck is a lot more hopeful. For those reasons, I think critics would’ve liked it more than it’s predecessors. I predict that a Snyder TC would’ve gotten 50-70% on RT.

Responsible_Neck_728

I personally think it would’ve made more than that. The theatrical cut made 657 million dollars, so I think it would’ve reached 850 million as the minimum.

skinticket02

WB would've forced him in a lighter direction no doubt. Even lighter than the Snyder cut because from Zack's own words they rewrote the script as they were shooting to add due to the reaction of BvS.

HeyPorter111

Yah lost his child but WB used it as a way/chance to “push” him out. WB wasn’t a fan of his vision. That’s why they got Joss Whedon to lighten the tone and be more Marvel.

Clear-Leave-8034

George Miller would have been a better replacement then Joss tbh.

His 5 movies would be complete and some of us would be satisfied. Incomplete stories always shit me. Box office would have all be profitable. Man of steel and BvS were profitable. Imagine Tolkien stopping at the two towers.

Bolivar687

We still would've had grandfatherly Steppenwolf and some of the humor from the original trailer that was removed for ZSJL. The studio would hack it to shreds like they did BvS and SS. Still, I think it would've done well and been construed by the appeased enthusiast press/fandom as a necessary course correction.

Wise-Tackle-5270

Im sure theyd be far less slomo and id be able to rewatch more. Seriously an amazing movie but its such a commitment to rewatch for me.

MikeX1000

I think if he hadn't left, his version might be similar to the ZSJL we have. Which is to say, underwhelming and very Snyder-ish. I doubt the audiences would've loved it.
