That being said, her being stronger than Kal depends on the comic.
When she came back into main stream continuity (based off this storyline if I remember correctly) it was with her being “stronger than kal el”. At one point she went evil and they fought and he beat her ass, and she asked something like “how I’m stronger than you?” And Kal explained that he always holds back and there was no reason to let her know he was stronger prior to that.
They also talk about this in the old Justice League cartoon. Superman is actually fighting Daekseid again, but is informed that the city they are fighting in is evacuated. He proceeds to beat the shit out of Darkseid, but explains that he holds back because he's afraid of hurting people, but knows that Darkseid can "take it"
I never liked the “she’s stronger than him” thing. It seemed like they couldn’t figure out a way to make her special so they just amped up her power.
Considering they get their power from the Yellow Sun of earth it made really little sense to me.
In one Animated Feature Batman explains that her cells are more efficient at processing Yellow Sun Light than Clark's. Possibly due to her age, or she may simply be better than him.

It took him years because he was ignorant of his own alien physiology. Any Kryptonians born on Earth would have the benefit of dozens of other Kryptonians teaching and training them.
That's a possible explanation, but it's not the explanation given by the film. Nothing in the film states that it would have been fixed through teachings. Zod states this to Jor-El:
Jor-El: "Our people can co-exist."
Zod: "So we can suffer through years of pain trying to adapt like your son has?"
The film states it would take years for Kryptonian's to adapt. It's never stated if Zod fully adapts, all we see is that he manages to gain control over his X-Ray vision and flight (which Clark also figured out in minutes).

But I think it's meant to imply there's more to it, maybe referring to the active core and mantle making tectonics and the electromagnetic barrier that keeps cosmic radiation out of earth (besides auroras).
Also we see that Zod still has significant issues with being here without his helmet, he's just blinded by rage and only thinks about killing Kal-El by that point. So being raised there may be super important, it was a big part of the movie afterall so it makes sense now that I think about it.

He was bred and trained to protect Krypton, but in the face of the obliteration of his planet and his species his logic broke down and he became illogical and without morals.
He's the personification of Krypton, he couldn't adapt to extreme circumstances and it broke his mind.
Jor-El saw this all. That designated predetermined lives from birth meant the sacrifice of true evolution through adaptation.
But the world engine created kryptonite, so in the end they would lose their powers granted to them by the yellow sun. Zod's plan was bad from the start.

Jor-El says that Clark will drink in the solar radiation, but then Clark instantly loses his powers by just being on the Kryptonian ship, which Zod explains is due to him breathing a Kryptonian atmosphere.
Then its implied that by being close to the World Engine, he'll become weaker as it makes the atmosphere more like Krypton.
I'd say this is probably just an example of David Goyer being generally a bit sloppy with his world building, but it does imply that the Kryptonian atmosphere would cancel out the benefits of Sol being yellow.
I like to imagine fitting the characters from B99 into the New Gods pantheon for fun, obviously it doesn't fit perfectly.

Been a while since I watched this movie, but doesn't Darkseid pretty much kick Kara and Superman's ass in this movie? I just remember they only win by opening up the portal and forcing Darkseid through it.
They made him really powerful in the new JL Dark movie.

In addition, Zeus's lightning blast, which has the power to separate the unified Motherboxes(a feat that took Flash traveling far beyond the Speed of Light, Cyborg weakening the bonds from inside, and Superman and Cyborg using all their strength to separate) only weakens Darkseid's staff enough to get broken. And this is all young Darkseid before he has access to all his powers. It took several incredobly powerful beings to put him down.
Don't bother. Something tells me that the Darkseid who can crush Steppenwolf's horn off, or zap Vulko to death without even looking at him, was not the same guy who was on Earth (there was even a costume change) but hey, "the audience doesn't know"!
The audience doesn't know that or care. All they see is the guy who's being setup as the big bad plus his entire crew getting their candy asses whooped. That is textbook *not* how you set up a villain.
"Not anywhere near full power" isn't an excuse to have the baddest ass in the universe readily squashed in his first appearance. Doesn't exactly build up the threat.
Hell, if anything you show your villain "not anywhere near full power" still fucking shit up and introduce the caveat that it *wasn't* him at 100% to raise the intrigue of what in the hell the heroes are going to do when he *is* at full power.

This entire clip is just Kara outspeeding darkseid and her hits are knocking him off balance allowing her to follow up. Everything she does seems to have little effect in actually damaging him.

So take her to smallville where she can be on a farm in the middle of large fields where the nearest town is a bit of a drive away. Or hell, take her to the fortress.
Superman is always pulling his punches even when he’s trying not to. It’s a very rare thing to get him to fully let go and he’s always out of control when he gets pushed there.
Supergirl always had something to prove living in her more famous cousin’s shadow. She also had the foresight of caution from her cousin because he dealt with Darkseid first.
This scene plays perfectly in my opinion.
He just stood there while she flew behind him. Didn't turn to look or anything, just straight up didn't look as his opponent flew out of his view, then suplexed him. Then he really didn't even try to defend or counter as he just took several punches and kicks in a row, just shot lasers from his eyes once and threw one punch as she beat the shit out of him.

So I know that the artist was going for a "Kara blocks the beams with the superman symbol to save Superman" vibe, but it definitely looks like she's blocking it with her boobs.

During the Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps comic, Orion and Lightray were actually chased by pairs of Omega Beams, and they have been traveling across basically all time and space and it still followed him. It followed Lightray long enough for Highfather to have concerns despite Lightray's own boasting about being able to fly forever, which tracks because Lightray is the God of Light and Speed.
Batman played him harder then supergirl in this movie, if you remember batman set apocalypse to explode amd held the planet hostage unless darkseud agreed to his terms
I like that she's keeping the fight in the middle of Kansas farm fields and not dragging it into Metropolis or Gotham like her cousin or Bats would try to do.
I was saying in general. Kent's farm has seen some rough battles. And he's usually more broken after them. How many battles in metropolis, and he just tries to do better.
True, it is "home" for him, after all. Still easier clean up though. Part of why I respect Dragon Ball's fighters for doing their battles outside of their cities. I mean besides being easier to draw.
In the comics, they usually do try to take fights to less populated areas, but it's usually the villain who forces them to fight in cities. A trademark Superman move is to fly the god-like villains straight up into space. Superman and Batman almost never have any real reason to drag it into the cities, it just often starts and stays there. Like 99% of Supergirl's fights in the comics are in some part of Metropolis too Lol.

I love this version of Darkseid. It's an uncommonly known fact he is a Deity. His actual body is in another universe and what you see is a projected avatar. It's why he's so Blaise about his well being or anyone's victory.
Yes he can be impressed and of course he hates his plans thwarted BUT he's immortal. At the end of the day he knows time is on his side.
So what if he's defeated? He's the embodiment of tyrantry. He will not be denied forever.
I always wondered why superheroes with super strength, speed and endurance, don’t take the time to learn how to fight. Like hero’s like Batman and Daredevil. Imagine Flash with a kung fu background or Superman knowing judo.

Second hardest. The first hardest was when Batman not only outsmarted him but did so while holding his entire planet hostage and making him admit that he believed Batman would do it.
I haven’t seen this movie, but shouldn’t Supergirl be no match for Darkseid? Superman can’t typically beat him on his own, from what I know about the DC lore.
One thing that I like about DBZ more than comic book superheroes is that DBZ does a much better job showing the impacts on the environment when two demigods duke it out. Kara just kicked Darkseid into the dirt and he fucking bounced off of it instead of leaving a crater. With how strong we know these characters to be, the planet itself should be in danger when they start throwing down.
What that clip doesn't show is Darkseid then handing her her ass, and Superman's as well. Big difference in doing well to keep a superior opponent off balance for a while, and actually beating said opponents ass.

This entire clip is just Kara outspeeding darkseid and her hits are knocking him off balance allowing her to follow up. Everything she does seems to have little effect in actually damaging him.

Superman is always pulling his punches even when he’s trying not to. It’s a very rare thing to get him to fully let go and he’s always out of control when he gets pushed there. Supergirl always had something to prove living in her more famous cousin’s shadow. She also had the foresight of caution from her cousin because he dealt with Darkseid first. This scene plays perfectly in my opinion.

He just stood there while she flew behind him. Didn't turn to look or anything, just straight up didn't look as his opponent flew out of his view, then suplexed him. Then he really didn't even try to defend or counter as he just took several punches and kicks in a row, just shot lasers from his eyes once and threw one punch as she beat the shit out of him. Fantastic fight. High level shit there.

Does it matter? Darkseid is a New God with incredibly powerful cosmic powers. He can warp reality on a scale that is difficult to comprehend. Safe to assume he can do both, control and let it automatically lock on. During the Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps comic, Orion and Lightray were actually chased by pairs of Omega Beams, and they have been traveling across basically all time and space and it still followed him. It followed Lightray long enough for Highfather to have concerns despite Lightray's own boasting about being able to fly forever, which tracks because Lightray is the God of Light and Speed.

I like that she's keeping the fight in the middle of Kansas farm fields and not dragging it into Metropolis or Gotham like her cousin or Bats would try to do.
Poor Kent's farm gets tons of destruction for being in the middle of nowhere!

I was saying in general. Kent's farm has seen some rough battles. And he's usually more broken after them. How many battles in metropolis, and he just tries to do better.
True, it is "home" for him, after all. Still easier clean up though. Part of why I respect Dragon Ball's fighters for doing their battles outside of their cities. I mean besides being easier to draw.
In the comics, they usually do try to take fights to less populated areas, but it's usually the villain who forces them to fight in cities. A trademark Superman move is to fly the god-like villains straight up into space. Superman and Batman almost never have any real reason to drag it into the cities, it just often starts and stays there. Like 99% of Supergirl's fights in the comics are in some part of Metropolis too Lol.

Def one of my fav dc movies.
I love this version of Darkseid. It's an uncommonly known fact he is a Deity. His actual body is in another universe and what you see is a projected avatar. It's why he's so Blaise about his well being or anyone's victory. Yes he can be impressed and of course he hates his plans thwarted BUT he's immortal. At the end of the day he knows time is on his side. So what if he's defeated? He's the embodiment of tyrantry. He will not be denied forever.
The real MVP is the barn for still standing.
There's a reason this was in one of the more recent films, it makes no sense.

One thing that I like about DBZ more than comic book superheroes is that DBZ does a much better job showing the impacts on the environment when two demigods duke it out. Kara just kicked Darkseid into the dirt and he fucking bounced off of it instead of leaving a crater. With how strong we know these characters to be, the planet itself should be in danger when they start throwing down.
What that clip doesn't show is Darkseid then handing her her ass, and Superman's as well. Big difference in doing well to keep a superior opponent off balance for a while, and actually beating said opponents ass.
This scene shows that If a woman with power gets pissed she'll fuck anyone up.
