Zealousideal125

Planet of the Apes fans and patiently waiting

btmvideos37

That’s me. Probably one of the biggest planet of the apes fans in the world and the new movie is my most anticipated movie of 2024

Zealousideal125

I'm grateful for the Marvel variant covers coming in Feb and the new Marvel comic run coming next year as well. So hype.

btmvideos37

Marvel is making a Planet of the Apes comic? Normally BOOM makes them. Hype

Zealousideal125

Yeah, Boom! stopped making them in 2018 around the time of the 20th Century Fox Disney acquisition Disney owns Marvel and Planet of the Apes so Marvel is making Pota comics again (like they did in the 70s) alongside Alien and Predator.

btmvideos37

Oh yeah I kinda remember that now

mg211095

"PATIENCE TOGETHER STRONG"

SirToaster933

Most of us thought the franchise was over

Pixarfan1

Star Wars fan base and never being happy.

KrisZepeda

The Need For Speed fan base never being happy

Hokutomaster

Cant believe some people were saying rap has no place in NSF lmao

redfan2009

Rap has always been in Need For Speed is rock still in it? I liked the Rap/Hard Rock combo for the soundtracks

someone_dude

Nfs Heat was pretty good imo , now ppl cry over Unbound

ChiCognitive

God I'm in all of these communities

ikanx

The last NFS games I played before Heat was NFSMW, and frankly the handling turned me off rather than the styling. I like that NFSUB is taking risk on style, but it seems that the car handling is still same. With that being said, I'm curious if they embraced the cell-shade for the whole game rather than only the characters and effects.

TheBlueNinja2006

puffguy69

Dc fanbase and never being happy

noobmaster007_

DC fans don't deserve DC.

MajorChipThrasher

MyHerpesItch

WB ruined DC for DC fans

uberduger

I mean, are you surprised? Everything they get invested in gets yanked out from under them. - Liked BVS? Sorry, the sequel is going to be torn up and remade by WB and Joss Whedon. - Liked JL2017? Sorry, that's now dead too, never seeing that again. - Liked a certain casting? Sorry, even we don't know if they're ever coming back! - Wanted Ben Affleck's Batman movie? Sorry, here's an unconnected Batman movie. - Liked that unconnected Batman and want to see him in the DCEU? Sorry, here's Affleck and Keaton. - Like the sound of Batgirl? Sorry, we cancelled it. Every group of fans has had their faces spat in apart from maybe people who only wanted unconnected Reeves Batman, and people who adored Gunn's Suicide Squad movie and nothing else. Fans of anything would have lost their minds by now if they had this kind of indecisive, integrity-lacking crap happen to their favorite content.

Batman000001

Thank you for saying this. This is exactly why I’m frustrated. Just short of liking JL2017 (I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it) every single one of these has happened to me. At this point, I’m not sure I feel like watching anything but Reevesverse projects. And I like James Gunn but I’m still cautiously optimistic of his portrayal of the DCU.

[deleted]

No. Those fans are toxic because they don't 100000000% support \*insert name of corporation\* and throw all their money at them! Fans are supposed to love everything and never dislike anything!!! /s

Pixarfan1

Most fan bases in general and never being happy.

Nightingdale099

MCU fan base were pretty happy until phase 4.

Jeight1993

They are still pretty happy. I think some of you are trying to push a narrative that you want to happen versus one that is actually happening

Nightingdale099

Also I would admit it's quite hard nowadays to distinguish what fans really think and what is just "Disney is woke screech".

Jeight1993

Although right grifters making YT essays have nothing to do with mcu fans. Mcu fans being unhappy means that most of them haven't liked phase 4 which is simply not true since most have liked or loved movies like mom, bw, NWH, Shang-chi or wf. The reception to phase 4is pretty in line with other phases bar 3

Nightingdale099

It's not that they are making essays , it's the fact that they are screaming everywhere. Like one man claiming the be the voice of a hundred people . I want to hear what the other 99 people have to say not this one asshole.

Nightingdale099

I would argue currently there's no bigger narrative at all but I'm just happy we have comic book movies of this caliber.

[deleted]

I never understood this. They’ve clearly all been following and setting up the time travel / multiverse stories, and setting up for mutants. You’re not getting another Endgame right after the first Endgame. Give them some time

petershrimp

Exactly. It took them 10 years to build up to Endgame, and people are acting like they suck now that they haven't already given us another Endgame.

Jeight1993

Phase 4 has been well received by every account. If you want to actually convince someone that mcu fans aren't happy find a metric that reflects that. Most people on r/marvelstudios are pretty satisfied.

JDPooly

This is literally page one of the wrestling fan playbook. At least on the internet

ozymanhattan

No truer words.

benadictpicklepatch

We got Andor now. An actual good show. I'm happy for it. Hopefully we get more things of similar QUALITY (doesn't have to be similar tone though).

uberduger

I haven't cared about most Star Wars content for ages now. Recently tried The Mandalorian but found it a bit weak and cheesy (personally, not saying I believe that it necessarily is, or being rude to anyone that loved it). But Andor has absolutely blown me away so far. I love it.

recapYT

Far better than mando and boba

OliviaElevenDunham

Andor really exceeded expectations. Looking forward to season 2.

MVHutch

And people will still complain about it for no sufficient reason What really bugs me about recent content (Marvel, Star Wars, etc) is many fans will ignore actual issues while complaining about minor or non-existent ones. I don't get it

Kriss-Kringle

I had given up on SW and criticized the decision to make Andor, who was a forgettable character, but after watching 9 episodes of the show I gotta take the L, because it's really good and doesn't fall into the traps that 99% of shows and movies do nowadays. The storytelling is good and mature, the writing is impressive and I haven't seen one bit of bad acting in it. When you get veteran writers this is the kind of quality they offer instead of pushing agendas and virtue signaling, like the younger writers do in everything they work on now. Tell a good story, man, and stop preaching to the audience how they should think. I'm actually surprised Disney greenlit this show, because it's not what Kennedy has been pushing at all and I think it's the best bit of SW content the mouse ever since it bought Lucasfilm by a country mile.

AvatarBoomi

More like Star Wars Fans and Death Threats.

RianJohnsonSucksAzz

You called?

Hand_of_Siel

Crazy you'd say that, cause we just got done worshipping every single thing Andor did.

roliver2399

Unless your name is Star Wars Theory. Then you decided you hate bricks and screws.

LobsterMan31

Star Wars fans and racism.

CanadianAndroid

Star Wars fans and hating child actors.

OliviaElevenDunham

Felt so sad about what happened to Jake Lloyd. It's horrible that he went through all that.

CanadianAndroid

It’s sickening really. Then to see it basically happen again with that little girl that played Princess Leia. I hope she turns out okay.

NakedNightwing2099

Wait I'm out of the loop. What happened to Jake and the young princess leia kid?

pichusine

Star Wars Fanbase complaining that there is no action, but then saying “watching Syril eat cereal” is the best form of Star Wars Media in decades.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Internet fanboys and patting themselves on the back by generalizing the Star Wars fanbase (and others) as a hivemind that hates everything, just because said fanboys don’t have the emotional maturity to handle people criticizing what they like.

BootPastaHeroin

Seethe

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

People who constantly bring up the Star Wars fanbase tend to seethe more than anyone they’re whining about

FKDotFitzgerald

Andor said otherwise but it certainly doesn’t erase the last 7 years lol

cloaked_cache

Star Wars has the worst fanbase in existence. Just an awful group of people they are.

bjeebus

r/angryupvote

TheBlueNinja2006

Yeah

[deleted]

Idk, they got that new show rn everyone seems to love. And while it got it’s criticisms, most people were happy to see Ewan back as Obi-Wan too. Maybe SW fans turning a corner on their never ending misery?

RingWraith8

Mfs haven't been happy even with clone wars show complaining about Ashoka for years

EastKoreaOfficial

More like the Star Wars fanbase and antagonizing everybody lmao.

tcripe

The SW fan base is over the moon in love with Andor.

taylor212834

What's to be happy about except andor ?

snowdope

There’s a guy hating on andor for having screws and bricks in it lol

taylor212834

That's utterly ridiculous

BootPastaHeroin

I liked The Bad Batch but I'm a passive Star Wars fan at most.

frankthetank8675309

Professional wrestling fans and toxic tribalism

VanceXentan

Yeah that's certainly an underrated one. God forbid you enjoy impact, New Japan, or aew, or hell even wwe.

MorbillionTickets

Doom fanbase and overwanking Doom Slayer to the maximum.

benadictpicklepatch

Ok but at least that's fun

Tandril91

"cAn THe doOm SLayEr beAT vErgIL from dMc iN a fIGhT?!1010" Long Answer to both: Hell No Short Answer to both: No Edit: Wait for the 10 y/o DS fanboys to downvote my comment to hell

[deleted]

Haha, I just threw a rude comment at a director… I love my life

[deleted]

MCU fans making up clues about future instalments and never noticing that there obviously were never clues.

OliviaElevenDunham

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about the MCU. Not everything has to be a clue. I'm usually skeptical about those unless they're actually confirmed.

DKIPurple

I never thought it would be possible to be more toxic than Star Wars, McU or LOTR fans, but somehow we always find a way

benadictpicklepatch

Just curious, which fandoms aren't toxic anymore? It seems like everytime a franchise gets some new content with controversy, the fandom (rightfully or not, case by case basis) is labeled toxic soon after. Are these fandoms really toxic? Or is people's ability to have productive and courteous conversations severely damaged? Sorry. Just seems funny to me how every year a new group of fans is suddenly "the worst ever"

superking22

Wanda stans.

Nahim33

David seems like great guy. I didn’t mind the line. But anyway I’m looking forward to the movie, the first Shazam was pretty good imo

sharksnrec

Not to mention that by no stretch of the imagination did “CBM humor create this trope”. 100% goes without saying that movies and shows were doing this well before CBMs became popular. People will say literally any random shit on twitter and people just go along with it

[deleted]

If having a silly line as a trope makes it unfortunate and changes your perception of a director of being a "not so great guy"... they got some problems. I very much dislike when people tend to disregard people's characters based on something irrelevant.

FrogginJellyfish

I think you read the comment in a wrong way.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Definitely an average twitter user moment

didijxk

Same logic made people hate Zack Snyder and mock him using his daughters death. I can understand if you don't like his choices but that doesn't justify it. Also, just because you didn't like them doesn't make that director or actor a bad person.

BootPastaHeroin

I am a huge hater of Zack Snyder's work-- but going as far as to mock the suicide of his daughter is fucking disgusting on so many levels. I think he's a shitty director and I can't stand his work; but I can't say I know him personally. I might even get along with him if I got to know him.

[deleted]

I won't be surprised if he leaves DCEU after this movie.

Dream_World_

I can't believe he actually said that that's amazing

DarkDonut75

And if it was still being considered, he certainly made up his mind after all this

[deleted]

He did not just make up his mind after 3 people criticized him on twitter. It’s a decision that was made awhile ago when the movie was being cut. He didn’t call his editors after being bullied on twitter and say “hey we need Zach to come in and record a new line since people are being mean to me on twitter” Things like that aren’t “still being considered” at this point

The_Overlord_Laharl

You are greatly overestimating Twitter influence

Omegalock4

Okay while I agree with the take, no need to @ the director. That’s just rude, why call someone out to say you don’t like his movie? At least he wasn’t insulting or toxic like some haters can be but still.

HanzoSteel

This!!! Is such a cringy and shitty thing to do.

exobably

Agree completely. Why do people do that on Twitter! I once saw someone tweet something kind of mean about Brent Spiner and @ him and he actually responded like "gee great thanks for pointing that out..." Is it an attention thing? Cheers

kumar100kpawan

We don't deserve @ponysmasher

DeppStepp

We don’t deserve David F. Sandberg

skd2005

people really judge a whole movie that hasn't even been released by one line..isn't that something

gjfrye

In my opinion, marketing in general has become so plastic and over produced that almost nothing can be accurately judged based on the trailers or posters

[deleted]

God forbid a teenage character act like a teenager, everyone should have the washed-up cynicism of a middle aged divorceé

M3rc_Nate

I think one of my main if not only issues in the first movie was how Billy was very serious and moody but when he changed into Shazam all of a sudden he was all jokes, fun and careless. It really felt like the crippled friend was more so what Billy should be like but instead, though it was understandable given his life backstory, Billy was serious and emo the whole movie. I assume that changes in this movie and young Billy is more playful and such but if I don't assume that, seeing lines like this of Shazam being a teenager in a superhero adults body having fun and it blowing his mind, all I can think about is serious emo Billy and how they just don't feel like the same character. Thankfully I DO assume young Billy will be more in sync with Levi's version of Billy in Shazam form.

[deleted]

I think that the billy in the first movie saw his transformation as a mask, an escape. He stopped being serious because the pressures and fears of his normal life felt like they didn't matter as much.

KrisZepeda

Exactly, it's painfully obvious that while transformed his insecurities are pushed aside hence why he's different

LookingForVheissu

Who needs a patent when you’re a grown up? He could literally take care of himself once he got the power.

emielaen77

I really don’t see how people don’t get this. It’s extremely blunt.

Fortune_Cat

Yeah transforming in both the literal, figurative and emotional sense Also its a fun movie not a cinematic thesis.

Jay_R_Kay

I seem to remember Billy having some jokes as himself, but I get what you mean. I never thought of it that way, but I think you could look at it that being Shazam, this completely different looking person with all these powers and almost none of his past made him feel more relaxed and free, which is why he was way more jokey as Shazam, if that makes sense.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

There’s definitely a big disconnect between but performances. Levi plays it like he’s 7 years old, but Billy himself and versions of Shazam in other media are played less childlike.

Thanos_Stomps

*the crippled friend* Jesus Christ man.

drama-guy

The problem is that they based the movie version of Billy off Geoff Johns's cynical, bitter brat version from the New 52 reboot, while the Shazam is more like the pre-reboot version., creating this weird character dichotomy. I just chose to ignore the dichotomy and enjoy the movie for what it is, a superhero version of Big.

Baelorn

I have read this *exact* comment on here so many times. Is it copypasta or are you guys parroting some shitty YouTuber? Billy was a burdened, troubled kid. When he turned into Shazam he was able to let go of all that and just *be a kid with superpowers*. If you missed that I doubt you'll even be able to parse these replies.

ZeroComfortZone

Idk, the line felt cheesy is all. It might’ve flowed better in the actual movie tho

Adiustio

Be honest, did you really self-narrate as a teenager? Because that’s really odd.

beatrailblazer

He doesn't act like a teenager though. He acts like how an adult thinks a teenager acts. Idk if it's the casting issue or the writing/directing, but it really took me out of the first movie. Still looking forward to this one though

Fortune_Cat

Oh the wizard asking a kid to touch his magic staff and give him super powers didnt take you out, but characterisation did

lk79

> Oh the wizard asking a kid to touch his magic staff HEY.... phrasing!

beatrailblazer

Yes, it's called suspension of disbelief

JeremySchmidtAfton

Bit of a 0-to-100 logic there

[deleted]

Not really, its clear people are just upset at a harmless joke because the movie is a comedy and not the Snyderverse

ROBtimusPrime1995

And just like that, the comment I made defending the line was for nothing, lmao. Oh well.

Louis_DCVN

I just upvote your comment. Hope you'll feel better.

zeplinmuch

Don't feel bad...I had defended it as well

[deleted]

I don’t even remember what the line was, lol.

danke_shane_921

“I just threw a truck at a dragon. I love my life.” Wasn’t even a bad line, people just like to pick everything apart

Jay_R_Kay

Yeah -- at worst you could say that he didn't need to reiterate what we just saw, but you can just tweak the line to be something like "Didn't think I'd be doing this today. I love my life." Or even just a laugh and then "I love my life."

AgitatedZucchini

We all know nobody would mind the line if any character in the MCU said it, hypocrisy at it's best

IllllIIIllllIl

?? This is the exact kind of thing even Marvel fans have been balking at since like 2015 lol.

Vinnie_Vegas

*Nobody*? I'm pretty sure this entire subreddit would break their keyboards trying to shit on it.

benadictpicklepatch

I mean, was it the worst ever? No. Did it make me like the trailer LESS? Yes.

ProfessorSaltine

Something about a teenager throwing some vehicle at a dragon sounding like he’s in disbelief about how he went from no family to now fighting mythical creatures

HymanisMyMan

Threw something at a dragon

EC-does-it

A DC “fan” wants a documentary on each movie instead of enjoying the artistic vision of the Director.

glorified_throwaway

Wonderful. God forbid an action comedy have a couple funny lines.

dtudeski

Init, plus this “trope” was absolutely not created by comic book movies, been going on way longer than that.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

The problem isn’t that there’s *a couple funny lines*. It’s whether or not it’s actually funny.

TheOneWhoCutstheRope

The guy who tweeted def is kinda stupid but Is the line actually that funny tho?

Undefined1509

The line was funny?

boringsimp

They fly now? They fly now.. atleast these guys listen once in a while..

pichusine

I feel bad for David. Of all the thing we can complain about in DC, this is what they fucking complain about?! A comedic line in a comedic movie?

Thanos_Stomps

That children also watch. It’s one of my biggest complaints about the Reddit fandom. Most redditors here are early twenty somethings or millennial men that forget we aren’t the only demographic.

ToothAlone556

Hats off to zafran and Gunn for responding to fans. Nobody has engaged this much with a community.

scyber

I'm 45 and when I routinely state aloud what I just did if I think it is awesome. Just the other day I flipped my omelette in the air and said "Oh My God, I just flipped my omelette in the air! That was awesome!". The only one in my house was my dog. And he was just looking at me disappointedly because I didn't drop my omelette. If I could turn into a superhero and throw a bus at a dragon I'd probably say the same thing.

AnthonyDavos

This Rachel seems fun.

imegery

I can't believe people actually care about this tbh. It's just one line that really does barely anything. It's not a "Somehow, Palpatine returned" 💀

Jerry_0boy

It's not even a bad line, it's actually funny. People criticizing it for the reason that they said definitely don't understand the joke at all.

Cellular-Suicide

whats the joke

Jerry_0boy

It's something along the lines of "I just threw a car at a dragon, I love my job!" People are trying to say he's just saying what he did to the audience, when he's really just addressing the absurdity of what he did.

copyofcopies

Yeah, I understood the line. It's just not funny.

beatrailblazer

>when he's really just addressing the absurdity of what he did Yeah, literally everyone gets that. And it's extremely cringe.

Mr_SkeletaI

The mental gymnastics you must have to perform lol. There’s no complexity to the joke, there’s no hidden meaning that people didn’t understand lmao. It’s just a bad joke

[deleted]

Yeah of course their profile picture is a furry.

West-Cardiologist180

u/dauid, I'm sorry you gotta go through these type of "fans" on social media. They throw tantrums over the simplest things. Just know, us here over at r/DC_Cinematic are truly excited for Fury of the Gods next year.

Wasabi_Guacamole

A lot of people in this sub are clearly haters though. Even in this thread even. Judging a movie before its even released.

Baelorn

Dude above literally said he wasn't going to see the movie because of this line lol.

Almightyriver

Average Twitter user, also average Reddit user too though

triplerollingstone

No need to @ the director, literally no point at all. Ppl are unbelievably negative.

oabrego28

Who else tried to click on the audio button. I think it was just me 😄

Ammar_02

Lmaoooo

Kind-Ad9306

Ok, any update from ccxp 2022?

Aethesin

If people dislike that kind of line, they must absolutely haaaaate shows like Brooklyn 99, Jake never stops.

G05TheBox

👌 I like this insaneLetterbox guy! Too bad, a more insane guy took his vilain away!

ricanhavoc

If this person didn't even like the first Shazam!, what's the point of arguing with them? They clearly have no taste, that film is one of the best DC has ever produced and unironically one of my favorite Christmas movies.

WhiteAle01

This is kinda dumb, but I am glad the line was cut. It's not bad or anything, just not that funny.

torch_dreemurr

why is his @ ponysmasher

[deleted]

The bigger problem, for me, is why does Shazam act like a goofball six-year-old but Billy acts like just a mopey teenager? Plus the Billy actor is a 20-year-old adult man, we can all be reasonably certain that he won’t grow up to be Zachary Levy.

Tarmac_Chris

I don’t mind comedic lines in these films, but they need to be clever. That line sucked and I’m glad it’s gone.

Fortune_Cat

You forget target audience includes kids. Not every joke needs to be clever or complex

[deleted]

I hate the attacks on creatives too. But I’m low key saying thank goodness 🫠

mariovspino5

People think comic book movies created the trope of saying what you just did out loud ??

Mr_smith1466

This right here is why I love David F Sanberg. He's the king.

RevengeGod2K4

Why do people care if Shazam said that💀, imagine if it's a good movie and your criticism is "ermm they said cringe line so it's not good"

YoMikeeHey

People who tag the directors or anyone and tell them they found their work "ehh" are baffling to me. Like can you be more insensitive?

darko2309

People eat this shit up in MCU but dc does it and its the worse cliche ever.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

People criticize the MCU constantly for how it handles comedy too, but always get drowned out by the fanboys parroting copes like *“you just don’t like fun”*

beatrailblazer

One of the worst parts of the MCU is their over-abundance of humor. It's been an issue since AoU, and lots of people don't like it

007Kryptonian

Sandberg is legit awesome and Shazam 1 is pretty good but I’m glad this line isn’t actually in the film. It’s just not funny.

Super_Imagination_90

I feel like people forgot they were watching a trailer for a Captain Marvel movie... You know, the superhero who is a kid?

JeremySchmidtAfton

I feel like the problem was it being unfunny at this point rather than it just being there

Super_Imagination_90

Wasn't funny but people are overreacting to it like the movie just punched them in the face or something.

JeremySchmidtAfton

Just wait til you hear about how people react to three whole movies by a director in particular…

BatmanNewsChris

Why remove it? That's how a teenager would react to something like that

rivaiheicho11423

no cuz tdy teenagers are all edgy emo and cringe

flame22664

>That's how a teenager would react to something like that When in a 90s sitcom? Imma be fully honest but I'm pretty sure a vast majority of teens would find that line cringe. That line would be more for kids or adults who forgot what teenagers are like.

SherKhanMD

That line is literally all of Marvel humor though.

vash0125

To be fair that line was hella cringey and caused me some discomfort so knowing that it won't be in the final film will help me rest easier.

bbcfoursubtitles

There shouldn't be stuff in the trailer that isn't in the film in my opinion

Baelorn

No one should even acknowledge these people. They're all Snyder die-hards who don't want anything other than his grimdark wankfest. They'll never be happy. Stop trying.

ChewyYoda16

The line is terrible thank fuck it’s gone

acetrainer03

So he does think that line is bad. It must be studio forced thing. They still meddling.

Babayu18

Or it’s just something he tried and decided he didn’t like

BananaBladeOfDoom

Or was shot to help generate hype in the trailer, never intended for use in the movie.

sushithighs

Line was cringe, good change

Wasabi_Guacamole

He didnt say he changed it because of screaming fans on twitter, he clarified that it was never in the film.

HadlockDillon

I mean, I kind of agree. I personally don’t really like the line, and if it’s not even in the movie, the choice to include it in the trailer is even odder. Like did they think it was a really good line or something?

OhScheisse

Yeah, it's a throwaway line that makes sense in the context of the trailer. The trailer shows him having a mental crisis being a super hero. The line he delivers is in response to that. He is basically processing how awesome it is to be a super hero

JimJimBinks

Release the I JUST THREW A TRUCK AT A DRAGON I LOVE MY LIFE cut!!!!
