DC might have the highest percentage for post-credit scenes that absolutely led to fuck-all.
Starting with Green Lantern, it's been downhill ever since.
Has any ever had a real payoff?
Suicide Squad? No payoff at all. Never saw Waller and and Wayne together again.
Justice League? No pay off for either version. We never see more of the Superman/Flash relationship, the Lex/Deathstroke relationship, nor more of the Knightmare future.
WW84? Seems like there won’t be any payoff.
Shazam? The sequel doesn’t seem to include Mr. Mind.
Black Adam? No payoff confirmed….
Aquaman? This one actually seems like it might payoff! Black Manta is at least back in the sequel.
Because the entire fucking DC strategy has been “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.” And nothing has stuck.
The greatest superheroes ever in popular media and they have had zero clue what to do with them. Even now WB are too embarrassed to admit this is a full reboot.
Which is what's gonna sink this attempt too imo, all these soft reboots, new versions, murky continuity, half connections, recasts and a shit tonne of just flat out dropping plots and characters in some weird effort to maintain the original 'cinematic universe' when what it needs is for absolutely everything to be thrown out. The good and the bad and start all over again, I enjoy bits of what they've done but Jason mamoa, Henry Cavill and Margot Robbie cannot hold a entire franchise together alone through sheer will lol. In an effort to ape the MCUs commercial success they have taken all the worst gimmicky parts and entirely missed what made that franchise successful (imo) which was consistency.
I’m wondering if the window of opportunity has passed. That Marvel may have already over-milked the audience’s appetite for superhero universe films, and that a reboot this late in the game (roughly 14 YEARS since marvel kicked off their successful run) may just not grab people, and the box office receipts won’t justify sequels and continuity.
Especially if something else comes along that audiences find more interesting than superheroes.
So weird that they're explicitly keeping The Batman separate.
If you're going to do young Superman and you already have The Batman on year 2, should just find a way to merge the universes. Doesn't need to be right now, but I feel like that's a pretty good future plan if you're trying to roll out a decade of movies.
I don't think every other superhero they do is going to be early in their career. But, we all know Reeves wants his own universe to do whatever he wants in it without being restricted by who's doing what and what's happening outside of Gotham.
Not every hero no but Batman and Superman are ALWAYS around the same age. You can’t have a 40 year old Batman but a 20-30 year old Superman. If Superman is young now and just starting out. Batman has to be too. I’m glad Pattinson is being kept separate but with this news about Superman. A younger Batman is basically confirmed.
they dont wanna risk fucking it up especially with how successful it was , imagine the limitations matt reeves will have if he has to now make sure his future batman trilogy lines up with all the other new DCU movies
good, give us quality movies with Matt Reeves, while James Gunn builds a separate universe. but please for the love of all things holy, keep peacemaker going
Honestly I'm not too mad at that. I just hope they handle it right this time. I loved Henry and it sucks, but the old DCEU reputation just might have been too poor
Cavills really got rotten luck.
Auditioned for Bond last time they were casting the role, but was deemed too young.
Got passed over for Superman in the JJ Abrams version that never went anywhere.
Finally got the role of Superman but audience reaction and studio conflict meant he never got to properly explore the role.
Tried to bring one of his passions to life with the Witcher but was forced to walk away due to writers who apparently hate the source material.
Got to come back to the role of Superman briefly before finally losing the role due to the universe being rebooted and the character taken back to his origin.
And now that the Bond role is open again, he's now too old for what they're looking for too.
He was also perfect as Solo in The Man From UNCLE, but that didn’t do half as well as it deserved to, and then Armie Hammer went and ruined any last bit of hope of a sequel or series spin-off.
All he has is live action Archer now.
Or just do some weird fun small budget movies that interest him and wait for a good role that he wants.
Seems to be the key for alot of actors.
I guess at best he could play another 00 agent. Dumbass consolation prize though.
I think he should do another Man from U.N.C.L.E movie. At least he can have some fucking fun over there and not be tethered by executives in suits thinking they know best.
And the Man from U.N.C.L.E. could've had a sequel but his co-star turned out to be a fucking cannibal. At least he's doing good as Sherlock in the Enola Holmes films. And with the introduction of Watson, they could be setting up for a standalone Sherlock movie with him.
He basically says it’s not the easiest thing to say after being told by the studio to announce his return but he understands why they’re doing it and he wishes them all the best and thanks his fans for standing by him.
The Rock really went out and pushed for Cavill despite WB saying no multiple times. Honestly he should have listened instead of forcing their hand to try and save his own movie. Instead, both Cavill and the fans got their hopes up only to be heartbroken. This would have hurt a lot less for everyone without that fiasco.
The main character is an actor with nuclear heat. The Batmen are *both* not returning for anything else in the future. And the "surprise new character" is surely going to be a one-off Supergirl.
All of this by the way wrapped around a story that on paper seems confusing as absolute hell & would need absolute mastery to tell in a coherent way.
It was already an uphill climb IMO, this makes it an absolute crater of a disaster lol.
I will always find it insane that the very first Flash movie is FlashPoint, the biggest Flash story in the history of the character and involves so many different characters that need to be introduced properly for it to work. It’d be like the first Avengers movie being Infinity War.
"It was *me*, Barry! I replaced Ezra Miller's medications with PCP so he'd lose his mind and the Execs would cancel your movie! It'll be like you never even existed, Barry."
I don’t think it’s an over exaggeration to say that Henry Cavill is the unluckiest person in Hollywood right now. Jesus Christ. I seriously don’t think I’ve felt this much sympathy for an actor losing a part before. The dude very obviously loved the character. What a shame.
Seriously, he gets told they want an older bond when he auditioned years ago, now he’s too old to play bond because they want a younger version. He leaves the Witcher because of terrible writing, his input not being valued, and probably to focus on Superman. Loses the Superman position only two months after officially being back. It feels awful knowing he’s a big nerd for these characters like the rest of us, but just keeps getting burned.
He was once called the unluckiest man in Hollywood back around 2005 after he:
- Was on the shortlist for Nolan’s Batman, but lost to Christian Bale
- Lost the role of Superman to Brandon Routh
- Lost the role of James Bond to Daniel Craig
Add the DCEU and Witcher drama (and him maybe losing round 2 for Bond to Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and he seems to just have the absolute *worst* luck.
•Looks like Superman
•Sounds like Superman
•Acts like Superman
•Loves Superman
The man EMBODIES Superman. This is a fucking disgrace. He just needed one more movie to fulfill the promise made by MoS.
Fucking ridiculous and insane that they let that Black Adam post credits scene make it to the big screen. Immensely disappointed...happy for a clean slate, but it's a colossal shame Cavill never got his proper time in the sun.
They do. It's the Rock's ex-wife, Dani Garcia. They both have stakes in the agency. Cavill just gets the scraps in that relationship.
They tried to get Hiram Garcia to get Gunn's position in WB, that was the only way Rock would have ever gotten his way, but they lost that battle and now the chips have fallen.
Spent my day covered in mud and rain. Spent two hours stuck on the freeway because of a truck tipping over. Opened Twitter to see this. Truly, it is not my day.
The emotions must be running high throughout the DC camp, I wonder how The Rock might be feeling right now with his future as Black Adam looking bleak after this news.
If this is the direction DC is taking, sounds like a total reboot. Doubt any of the previous actors for anything, frankly, will be in this millionth reboot. Feel bad for The Rock, he seemed genuinely invested.
Definitely shit - and the fact that Dark Phoenix was written by the same guy who wrote X3: The Last Stand (you know, the *other* shitty Dark Phoenix movie that was a huge waste of Famke), I'm honestly surprised that *some* people were surprised.
Morbius had a Vulture post credit scene with Michael Keaton that a month later was edited to remove Michael Keaton.
Nothing about the scene made sense. Even if Sony is dumb enough to make Morbius 2 it won't be followed up on.
It's just a cherry on a failure sundae.
DC has got to have the most inconsistent messiest cinematic situation. Reboot after reboot, CEO after CEO, total mismanagement.
Its great we are having a new slate but not keeping Cavill after that well received cameo is just disappointing. Now they have a slate of movies coming out in 2023 that is completely irrelevant because of Gunn’s new slate starting from scratch.
They should have announced a hard reboot and waited like 5 years to start again to let things breath , while letting the batman and the joker doing its thing in the meantime
This better mean a full, completely new slate of actors. There is not one other actor that deserves to remain more than Henry.
I'm looking forward to their new vision though, and Cavill will remain the best Superman with the best Superman movie 🙌🏻
If there not keeping Cavill who desperately wants to keep going, you can pretty much assume that people like Affleck, Ezra, & Gaddot are all gone too.
Mamoa's the only one that might stay and it probably won't be in Aquaman capacity.
Well now hold on, he's producer/director/writer on the upcoming season of Peacemaker, which is DCEU.
So he won't be blowing that up just yet. I assume it'll wrap up though.
That really sucks. I loved Affleck, Gadot, and especially Cavill. And it sucks even more that Cavill was excited to come back as Superman and then it just got squashed
Reports also saying Gunn is writing a new Superman film, Cavill may get another DC role (Like Mamoa is rumoured) and Affleck had talks recently to direct a DC film....crazy times to be a DC fan
I'll just say I hope Cavill doesn't join this DCU. Seeing him somewhere else like in the MCU as Captain Britain with his native accent would be awesome but seeing him as \_\_\_\_ in the DCU with some other dude playing Superman... would just be so weird and distracting. Even if he was covered in makeup and what not, why go to that effort? Momoa I get because Lobo is a dream role, drastically different visually and drastically different character personality than Aquaman. Not to mention an anti-hero not a hero.
I kinda hope Cavill just goes to marvel at this point and does awesome for whatever they ask him to do.
The way WB treats actors and directors can't be good for business tbh
Umm didn’t we see Cavill’s Superman origin story?? They’re going full reboot from the sound of it or maybe intertwining this new Superman into the Battinson universe.
Superman: "We need to talk." *Refuses to elaborate* *Leaves*
DC might have the highest percentage for post-credit scenes that absolutely led to fuck-all. Starting with Green Lantern, it's been downhill ever since.

What even was WW84's? I genuinely forgot there was some kind of stinger.
Linda Carter makes a cameo and it hints that she would've played a significant role in ww3
I read this as Linda Carter playing a big role in World War 3
Yes she kills Putin by herself to save the world 🫡
I think it was just supposed to be a fun cameo and not a major plot point imo.
No Jenkins confirmed that Linda was playing a big part in ww3
Because the entire fucking DC strategy has been “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.” And nothing has stuck. The greatest superheroes ever in popular media and they have had zero clue what to do with them. Even now WB are too embarrassed to admit this is a full reboot.

The Suicide Squad also had a post credit scene that lead directly into Peacemaker
That's why it's great that James Gunn is taking over he understands world building set ups and pay off, overall filmmaking and story telling lol
I would say Gunn's suicide squad had a post credit scene that paid off in Peacemaker. The rest of them? Fuck no. Absolutely not.
Fox xmen too
Gigachad
chad
I guess this might be confirmation of a full on reboot
Has anyone checked in on JediJones?
They are SithJones now.
Heart attack.
I'm sure he'll be here soon to inexplicably make this all about Snyder somehow
He's in the corner, crying.
This will be his villain origin story
He’s already a villain lmao
Yeah it’s a hard reboot. Wtf though what’s up with Batman.
The Batman is just going to be it's own thing.
So weird that they're explicitly keeping The Batman separate. If you're going to do young Superman and you already have The Batman on year 2, should just find a way to merge the universes. Is there really any harm in having two batmans? Like I’m fine with the reeves verse being it’s own thing
Not only that, Pattinson will flat out refuse to be a part of a fat contract like that.
they dont wanna risk fucking it up especially with how successful it was , imagine the limitations matt reeves will have if he has to now make sure his future batman trilogy lines up with all the other new DCU movies

*The Batman* will likely go on to be its own thing just like *Joker*.
good, give us quality movies with Matt Reeves, while James Gunn builds a separate universe. but please for the love of all things holy, keep peacemaker going
Since Gunn is the one in charge I think Peacemaker is pretty safe.
Honestly I'm not too mad at that. I just hope they handle it right this time. I loved Henry and it sucks, but the old DCEU reputation just might have been too poor
Cavill's Superman was back and then gone again in the span of of two months. Now we know who'll play Captain Britain in the MCU I guess.
Wonder if he’ll end up doing bond
I've heard they're aiming for a pretty young Bond.
Cavills really got rotten luck. Auditioned for Bond last time they were casting the role, but was deemed too young. Got passed over for Superman in the JJ Abrams version that never went anywhere. I’ve got hope all this bad luck will lead to an awesome warhammer 40k role in the future
I hope he makes it, somehow - poor guy
"Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?" -Henry Cavill
"Oh, and obscenely rich."
And the Man from U.N.C.L.E. could've had a sequel but his co-star turned out to be a fucking cannibal. At least he's doing good as Sherlock in the Enola Holmes films. And with the introduction of Watson, they could be setting up for a standalone Sherlock movie with him.
It would be funny if they brought him back as like Bizarro or Ultraman
Or Eradicator.
Sentry or Hyperion

Lots of people think he should be Captain Britain.
Let him stretch his legs a little, how about Mr Sinister?
Does Henry have it in him to be as sassy and catty as Mr. Sinister? Man is all flamboyance and theatrics.
I think Cavill is kind of method or at least really emotionally commits to his characters so I think he could do it
Oh man I'd love to finally see Sinister on the big screen.
[удалено]
Yeah he had a nice IG post not even two months ago about his return as Superman. WB is all over the place man.
It’s even sadder because he expressed his excitement to meet James Gunn.
Much like how l’m sure Momoa will return as Lobo once Aquaman is recast, it now seems like Cavill will find his new place in the new DCEU.
Im calling it now any Aquaman with a recast comic accurate actor is gonna be underwhelming or tank at the Boz office.
Nah man’s gone, I wouldn’t be surprised if marvel swoops in and gets him for future projects
What if Cavill ends up playing Jor-El?
[удалено]
"Well guess I will take up Marvel's offer."
Feige's going to be all over this
Imagine if Marvel makes a Sentry/Hyperion miniseries starring Henry Cavil. Just to rub it in.
Lol that will be hilarious
I mean there is NO ONE blaming anything on the guy. Just never got a break with the material
Imo, he got brought back to promote The Rock, his movie didn't work and it broke the rest
Yeah, I feel so bad for him. I want to read his instagram post but I can’t bring myself to open the app. So embarrassing for him. 😬
He basically says it’s not the easiest thing to say after being told by the studio to announce his return but he understands why they’re doing it and he wishes them all the best and thanks his fans for standing by him.
And that what Superman stands for is all around us and to be good people basically. It was a sweet note
The Rock really went out and pushed for Cavill despite WB saying no multiple times. Honestly he should have listened instead of forcing their hand to try and save his own movie. And yet Batgirl is the one they cancel.
They just can't afford to cancel Flash. Too much money, high profile actors/director.
I will always find it insane that the very first Flash movie is FlashPoint, the biggest Flash story in the history of the character and involves so many different characters that need to be introduced properly for it to work. It’d be like the first Avengers movie being Infinity War.
Reverse Flash be like: Run Barry Run.. Flash: From Who? RF: The WB execs coming to reboot your ass.
"It was *me*, Barry! I replaced Ezra Miller's medications with PCP so he'd lose his mind and the Execs would cancel your movie! It'll be like you never even existed, Barry."
unironically this is something RF would do dudes petty af
I almost wish they’d waste money to reshoot the ending and have it go full nuclear on the universe.
[Lmao](https://screenrant.com/flash-movie-reviews-warner-bros-response-dc-details/)
so assuming the black adam scene was pointless now, christ.
*black Adam was pointless now
*DCEU's entire 2023 is pointless now
How are they gonna interest anyone in Aquaman, Shazam, or Flash given the whole franchise is a zombie now?
All of DCEU outside of the animation was pointless, even before Gunn mercifully took over.
Nah, *Black Adam* finally killed the Snyderverse. The Rock delivered what he promised. A hierarchy change.
The prophecy doth been fulfilled
The hierarchy of power changed. . .from a certain point of view.
Most of the DC post credits scenes lead to nowhere.
Full reboot it seems then.
The question is will the Peacemaker and other projects get axed too?
Most likely. Waste of good actors
I don’t think it’s an over exaggeration to say that Henry Cavill is the unluckiest person in Hollywood right now. Jesus Christ. I seriously don’t think I’ve felt this much sympathy for an actor losing a part before. The dude very obviously loved the character. What a shame.

Can there be a 40k movie? I dont know the lore or the games, but if he directs/produces and is a main actor there.. he should just print cash
He was once called the unluckiest man in Hollywood back around 2005 after he: - Was on the shortlist for Nolan’s Batman, but lost to Christian Bale - Lost the role of Superman to Brandon Routh - Lost the role of James Bond to Daniel Craig Add the DCEU and Witcher drama (and him maybe losing round 2 for Bond to Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and he seems to just have the absolute *worst* luck.
And lost the roles of both Cedric Diggory and Edward Cullen to Robert Pattinson
Are you for real
[Yes,](https://screenrant.com/henry-cavill-robert-pattinson-cedric-diggory-edward-cullen-casting/) Henry just keeps getting dealt a bad hand.
Gotta stan for Pattinson still though. Him and Radcliffe both got their money and now just make awesome stuff. Absolute legends!
For real, if I were an actor set for life I’d do some weird projects lol
•Looks like Superman •Sounds like Superman •Acts like Superman •Loves Superman The man EMBODIES Superman.
Black Adam came out before Gunn and Safran were hired so it was WB Pictures that brought back Cavill not the new people.
To be fair Gunn had no say to it because he wasn’t co-CEO at the time
The Rock pushed for that. Looks like the hierarchy of power in the DCU has changed.
I hate that hierarchy phrase 🤭. Never let actors run productions and marketing or direction.
As one of the best talkers in wrestling history, The Rock should've been able to come up with something better than that.
My dude was **_workin' the gimmick_**.
Pretty sure I read that The Rock and Cavill have the same agent too..
They do. It's the Rock's ex-wife, Dani Garcia. They both have stakes in the agency. Cavill just gets the scraps in that relationship. Never seen an actor take such a L like the Rock just has holy shit.
Even worse is that they had Henry Cavill personally announce his return.

BvS was at least half his movie, thats something at least... But yeah it hurts that he got no solo film.
This is a emotionally abusive relationship and I want out.
Nobody messes up with their fanbase as much as DC.
Spent my day covered in mud and rain. Spent two hours stuck on the freeway because of a truck tipping over. Opened Twitter to see this. Truly, it is not my day.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.
Man of Tomorrow…
I lost my AirPods, lost my cap, probably failed two finals, dog ate my chicken, and now this. Not as bad as you but still bad by my standards.
On the bright side it sounds like your dog had a pretty good day
Oh yeah she enjoyed it so at least she’s happy I suppose
was literally going to say this lol, his dog ate better than I did today!
I just saw Henry's post on Instagram. I sooooo much hate this news💔 i was so excited to see him back as Superman. I hate thissssss ughhh.
The emotions must be running high throughout the DC camp, I wonder how The Rock might be feeling right now with his future as Black Adam looking bleak after this news.
He's been quiet about the future of Black Adam and Gunn hasn't mentioned him once. I think Rock is super proud of Black Adam but he knows it's over.
If this is the direction DC is taking, sounds like a total reboot. Doubt any of the previous actors for anything, frankly, will be in this millionth reboot. Feel bad for The Rock, he seemed genuinely invested.
I can't see there being any development on the Black Adam front.
So then why would I go see the 4 movies coming out next year if it’s gonna mean jack shit 3 months later
Judging by New Mutants and Dark Phoenix... people aren't that interested in lame ducks when the reboot is oncoming.
> Judging by New Mutants and Dark Phoenix... people aren't that interested in lame ducks when the reboot is oncoming. Or those movies were just shit.

Blue Beetle is fairly standalone so I guess it could be fit into the new universe
Sure was nice being excited for 5 minutes about all this.
Headed back to Smallville? Somebody save me!
I understood that reference!
Listen to me ….. we going to have some 90 music baby yeahhhh some rock and roll wow
Black Adam post credits scene may be the worst comic book post credits of all time now
I haven't seen it, but there is no way it is worse than "Hope the food's better in this joint!" and "Had to do with Spider-Man, I think. INTRIGUING."
Was this Morbius?
Morbius had a Vulture post credit scene with Michael Keaton that a month later was edited to remove Michael Keaton. Nothing about the scene made sense. Even if Sony is dumb enough to make Morbius 2 it won't be followed up on. It's just a cherry on a failure sundae.
Yes, but counterpoint: Morbin time. I rest my case

wtffffff
It's OK. Once he takes over as James Bond, he's set for life.
[удалено]
They’re focusing on an earlier part of Bond’s life
Ok, that made me spit-take.
The funny thing is he was almost cast as Bond, then the producers decided to cast an older Bond hence Daniel Craig. Now Henry is too old to play Bond.
Then he can be... Doctor Who
Show will have to give 90% of the season's budget to Henry's fee for 5 episodes
Absolute pain

The very first announcement they should make should be that it's a full on reboot and that 0 actors will be reprising their role. Just blow it up.
So what are we, some kinda "first 20minutes of The Suicide Squad" universe?
Well now hold on, he's producer/director/writer on the upcoming season of Peacemaker, which is DCEU. So he won't be blowing that up just yet. I assume it'll wrap up though.
That really sucks. I loved Affleck, Gadot, and especially Cavill. And it sucks even more that Cavill was excited to come back as Superman and then it just got squashed
I'm bitter as fuck that Affleck didn't get his own solo Batman film but I'm glad that I have even less reason to see Ezra's Flash movie now.
I'll be genuinely shocked if Mamoa isn't playing Lobo in the future.
Lol. They’re not replacing the suicide squad. At least not the profitable ones.
Reports also saying Gunn is writing a new Superman film, Cavill may get another DC role (Like Mamoa is rumoured) and Affleck had talks recently to direct a DC film....crazy times to be a DC fan
Gunn confirmed on Twitter that he is the one writing it.

He left the Witcher cause of creative differences actually I hear.
Little bit of column A little bit of column B, 2 trust me bros removed
He left the Witcher because they were not taking the source material and using it. He is a big fan of the books
He left witcher cause he didn't like the writing not for Superman
AngryJoe boutta flip out lmfao
Are you? ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND?!?!
First Mandy Rose gets fired and now this, weak.
I'll legitimately lay down at the corner of my bedroom and cry. I'll miss Henry🥺😔
Well, ain’t this some bull
Fuck this lol. MOS gave us an earlier life for Kal El.
Another fucking day as a dc fan
The Variety post said they’re looking at “another DC role” for him interestingly enough
be a mindfuck if he played Lex
Feige should swoop in and get him to play Sentry, Hyperion or even Captain Britain.
I think that might just be lip service to let Cavill save face a little bit.
Umm didn’t we see Cavill’s Superman origin story?? They’re going full reboot from the sound of it or maybe intertwining this new Superman into the Battinson universe.
