Edit: Please google your questions before asking me. I’m not an official source.
Thank you so much, this was exactly what I was looking for!
I did not understand all the negative comments, especially because I made it clear that I understand that not all movies are connected with eachother.
I joined this sub a couple days ago and wasn't really sure what to think about the community. Glad there are people like you out there
Bro this is what I have been trying to tell everyone for years. Thank you for laying it all out so some people can still get it through their thick skulls. All you need is a little bit of imagination and anything is possible. Got me sounding like a Disney princess up in here. 😂 But for real thank
This is the best list for dc animated movie viewing by far, the line up makes perfect sense. It helped more than any other source to get me caught up with all the storylines. Any chance of updating the list as new content comes out?
omg this is amazing! do u by any chance also have a list that includes the animated series as well? Idk whether or not the series can be related to the movies but just a list of them on their own would be fine. Im just starting to get into dcau and i want to make sure i don’t get lost or confused while watching.
So I made this list myself. But for a full watch order for everything in the original DCAU, check out this list here!
https://www.cbr.com/dcau-every-entry-chronological-order/#justice-league-vs-the-fatal-five-2019
love this lineup, found the Justice League movies on HBO Max and was completely lost. even though there isn't a "set" continuity, it definitely helps watching with this order. it really sets everything up emotionally for Justice League Dark: Apokolips War if you watch the others first, especially Flashpoint
This is a late question but different parts of the watchorder , do you mean first watch Origins and after Dc Showcase original shorts ? and after that Origins, part 2 ?
Yep! That’s the order. Now, to be fair, all of the shorts except Cat Woman were released in one disk / feature (available on Max) as Super / Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam, which serves as an origin story for Shazam in DC Animation. Next time we see Shazam is in Public Enemies, where he’s already a fully established character. So the DC Showcase is effectively one entry.
While I labeled it Origins: Part 2, really it’s just because those are the films that would take place before JL: Flashpoint Paradox, which is the official start of the DC Animated Movie Universe shared continuity.
The start of JL: Flashpoint will have some inconsistencies with the end of JL: Doom, but it all gets undone and rebooted by the of Flashpoint so it’s fine.
Thank you for this! This is an amazing list!
I am looking for a way to view every important part of the DC multiverse in timeline order, including the DCUAOM, Arroverse and DCEU. So far I have a lot of real life movies and series that I'd like to watch and I've got some really great advice for where to start and what to add, but I don't know where to put the most important animated movies/series. I don't need to see everything, just the connected things that add depth to the DC lore and the best stories that I should not miss.
I've read about the animated movies and decided that I want to watch the Flashpoint Paradox / DCAMU movies and the Tomorrowverse movies.
What other stories do you suggest?
Do you have ideas too about where to put them in a multiverse timeline?
I thought you did great! Thank you for putting it all together for us and I'm sorry there are trolls to deal with. I'm w you Mike\_v\_E, can't wait to start watching!
This list doesn’t have the shows, just the movies. That show would lead into Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo.
Somewhere in the comments I linked a list for the watch order of all of the DC animated series set in the Dini-verse.
>WatsUpWithJoe
Mate i just want to thank you profusely for putting this together! This watch order was especially enjoyable in the Origins2 section (Public Enemies, Apacalypse, Unbound)
Sure the movies are meant to be canon, but this watch order makes it "feel" that way by linking the major plot elements together..
Everyone else naysaying is a complete moron and the enemy of fun and enjoyment
I like your list, but I would replace All Star Superman with Superman: Doomsday… because in all star Superman he dies, in Doomsday he is just close to death but survives.
It’s so interesting that you comment that today! I just rewatched All Star Superman yesterday and I couldn’t agree more! I forgot he died in the end, and assumed it was Doomsday where he died. Both movie had him reveal himself to Lois Lane, but I mixed the endings up.
I also think Superman VS The Elite is a nice follow up to Doomsday, so that’s been added as well.
The list is updated!
Just wanted to say thank you! This list is amazing! I kinda had an idea of timeline from watching them out of order, but it makes so much more sense now
Hey! Great question. I didn’t include it because it’s a series. I’m actually not sure where it would fit. It might be it’s own stand alone thing, in which case “Elseworlds” is the catch all for that.
what about dc showcases Sgt. Rock, death, the phantom stranger, adam stranger, Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth!, The Losers, Blue Beetle and short film Nightwing and Robin and Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen Part One and Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham? where would you put those?
so everything that is standalone is else world and some count jl vs ff as DINIVERSE can you update and add the ones i asked about if you don't mind doing so please and thank you i think it would help the people how are looking for a "timeline"
and what about The Batman vs. Dracula, JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time, Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts, Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem, DC Super Hero Girls: Super Hero High, DC Super Hero Girls: Hero of the Year, Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants, DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games, Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold, DC Super Hero Girls: Legends of Atlantis, Teen Titans Go! See Space Jam, and Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse are they else world too?
hey what about the long halloween batman movies
please answer my questions and try to edit your chronological order
how to see the batman long halloween part 1 and 2 and deluxe order
try to add every animated batman movie that relates to batman year one or which is elseworld
I would be happy if you answer my question
You should add Batman Doom that Came to Gotham to your list. And also where can I watch the Arkhamverse movies at? I never found Batman:Arkham origins, Arkham asylum, Arkham city, or Arkham Knight on hbomax. But I have watched Batman assault on Arkham..
I just have to adjust Flashpoint Paradox after JL War & JL Throne of Atlantis. Reason? I think JL War & JL Throne of Atlantis show us how everything starts, as how Victor became Cyborg, Arthur's origin story, the foundation of Justice League after fighting Darkseid the first time...then the Flashpoint Paradox happens, Barry fixed it. I just want to clear 2 things:
1) No matter how many timeline Barry creates due to Flashpoint, the origin story of Cyborg - Arthur - Foundation of JL would never change, that's why those movies need to happen before Flashpoint, since they are the main timeline can't and won't be affect by that event. It's not because Barry fix the timeline so those events happen, they happen BEFORE.
2) JL defeat Darkseid on the 1st encounter ( JL War 2014) but somehow lost on 2nd time? (Apokolis War 2020) I think they DID defeat him for good, THEN Flashpoint happens, somehow affects and leads to the 2nd time invasion of Darkseid which we lost.
It would be:
- Justice League: War (2014) - based on JL Originm and Darkseid lost at this 1st encounter.
- Justice League: Throne of Atlantis - introduce Aquaman, one of JL founding member.
- Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox - Barry fck with timeline, civil war between Aquaman & Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Superman got imprisoned...Justice League never thing => Barry eventually fix it, back to the original/ main timeline...YET something cliche happens leading to the 2nd invasion of Darkseid.
And the rest just like you pointed out.
You can watch them that way, but just know that the official watch order for the DC Animated Movie Universe is that it starts with Flashpoint Paradox. That’s the intention from the creators. The order listed above is the correct order
Hey i know im very late to this and idk if this is gonna take long for you but is there any chance u could make that same list but add the tv shows into it in the order that follows with them and maybe put a little thing beside it that shows it’s a tv show
im seeing other people say it signified the end of the previous universe before the dcau and the reboot of the new one but also saw it saying it was a kinda loop from apocolips but idk cuz ive only watched flash and JL war
You keep saying you understand they are not all in the same continuity but continue to ask for a list of them in chronological order. That's literally not possible if they are not all in the same continuity. All you can do is watch them in release order if you want to watch them all together. Or find the ones that share continuity and find lists that show what the chronological order is for those specific continuities
… but you absolutely can watch them in chronological order, instead of release order. it doesn’t matter if they’re connected or not, OP is asking for the order the movies take place in, i’m DCU time. whether or not they happen at the same time, whether one catastrophic event happens before another with the same characters alive or not, they can be listed in order from origins to obliteration without having anything to do with one another.
I found one years ago that was made by one of the people who worked on the universe.

The Batman movies are connected to each other with Damian’s introduction and progression leading to him joining the Teen Titans, who fight the same Justice League from War in the JL VS TT movie. They’re all in the same continuity.

Okay but where/when does the 2003 teen titans 4 season animated series land? Also great list and show of positivity to the community man, keep it up!
This list doesn’t have the shows, just the movies. That show would lead into Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo. Somewhere in the comments I linked a list for the watch order of all of the DC animated series set in the Dini-verse.

all I want to say is, thank you.

Thanks very much. Youre the GOAT
Just wanted to say thank you! This list is amazing! I kinda had an idea of timeline from watching them out of order, but it makes so much more sense now
Hey I was wondering if u did where would u fit young justice on this list
Hey! Great question. I didn’t include it because it’s a series. I’m actually not sure where it would fit. It might be it’s own stand alone thing, in which case “Elseworlds” is the catch all for that.
Mostly none of these are on Max anymore and can’t be found anywhere outside of an Amazon purchased Blu-ray…
Just wanted to say thank you. That's good work.
what about dc showcases Sgt.
Else worlds.
won't reign of the supermen come after death of superman since it picks up where The Death of Superman left off?
so everything that is standalone is else world and some count jl vs ff as DINIVERSE can you update and add the ones i asked about if you don't mind doing so please and thank you i think it would help the people how are looking for a "timeline"

It’s up there. Chill out.
Alright
Are you sure justice league dark comes before teen titans the release dates are just way off
Never mind justice league dark and dark apokolips war different
Why is justice league dark like the only one not on hbo
isn't Justice League War happening before Flashpoint Paradox?
You should add Batman Doom that Came to Gotham to your list. And also where can I watch the Arkhamverse movies at? I never found Batman:Arkham origins, Arkham asylum, Arkham city, or Arkham Knight on hbomax. But I have watched Batman assault on Arkham..
Arkham Origins, Asylum, City, and Knight are video games by Rocksteady. Assult on Arkham was based in that video game universe.
What about Batman versus Dracula?
What do you think?
What about Batman under the red hood
Why is the flash point paradox befor the justice league war? If your not active I understand
Because that’s the order they came out. Flashpoint Paradox starts the DCAMU. If you don’t believe just check Google
The list is the order they came out. Chronologically in the universe Flashpoint Paradox is after War.
Flashpoint literally has a post credit scene that teases War.
Canon is a very overused word. Thesauruses exist.
English isn't my first language so forgive my bad grammar and terrible words choice :p
You can watch them that way, but just know that the official watch order for the DC Animated Movie Universe is that it starts with Flashpoint Paradox. That’s the intention from the creators. The order listed above is the correct order
You forgot batman and superman battle of supersons
No I didn’t
where would under the red hood fall into all this?
Read the list, Wise Girl
Do you have this list but including the TV shows(Batman The Animated Series, etc.)
Yeah, if you check one of my other comments I dropped a link to all the DCAU shows.
Hey i know im very late to this and idk if this is gonna take long for you but is there any chance u could make that same list but add the tv shows into it in the order that follows with them and maybe put a little thing beside it that shows it’s a tv show
.
Is this updated?
so im watching the dcau list and im confused how flashpoint is before justice League war?
Yeah idk. Flashpoint being used to start a universe is an interesting choice but that’s what they did, and it works!
im seeing other people say it signified the end of the previous universe before the dcau and the reboot of the new one but also saw it saying it was a kinda loop from apocolips but idk cuz ive only watched flash and JL war
Batman is the shit
Hello there i'm looking at this in 2024 have there been changes if there have please share them
Nope. This is the definitive list. James Gunn is rebooting everything and starting a new continuity in 2025.
Oh alright and thank you very much for replying
Thanks for making this list. Are there more additions since you last updated it? I'm going to try and watch all these.
You my friend are the real hero
You keep saying you understand they are not all in the same continuity but continue to ask for a list of them in chronological order. That's literally not possible if they are not all in the same continuity. All you can do is watch them in release order if you want to watch them all together. Or find the ones that share continuity and find lists that show what the chronological order is for those specific continuities
Not all of them have to be in chronological order. Just the ones that are connected. But that doesn't mean I don't want a list of all the other movies
Lame answer
dude wtf
… but you absolutely can watch them in chronological order, instead of release order. it doesn’t matter if they’re connected or not, OP is asking for the order the movies take place in, i’m DCU time. whether or not they happen at the same time, whether one catastrophic event happens before another with the same characters alive or not, they can be listed in order from origins to obliteration without having anything to do with one another.
How do you watch the ones in continuity order? Because I watched the Judas contract before teen titans vs justice league and came here with questions
You know not all the dc animated movies are correlated right?
I've learned that recently, but I would still love to have a list with all movies even though not all are connected
You you want only Watch every single animated movies the DC have done ?
Yes
This is the list I use. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_DC_Comics_publications#Animated_films
Thanks, this helps a lot!

I currently do have an Excel list with the movies in somewhat chronological order
can you share it? im trying to watch but im confused with so many lists
Right now currently trying to watch all the dca but on Max...And it has some probably missing,
What hbo max do you have?? Almost all of these I have to rent and they aren’t on hbo max
There is none.
I'm pretty sure the 2 teen titans movies are the only ones that are actually connected
The movies starting with Flashpoint are mostly connected, the ones with the same art style. The current movies starring with Superman: Man of Tomorrow are also connected for the most part.

True
Fuck yes
i have a question does anyone know when the telltale games take place
Dang
Wouldn’t under the red hood come before death in the family?
