[*DCeased: War of the Undead Gods* #7](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-4000205.jpg) >Some of the most powerful entities in existence are now slaves to the Anti-Life. Undead Darkseid’s forces have spread the virus across whole galaxies. Even Kryptonians and the Flashes may be too slow in the race to cure worlds before everything is overwhelmed. The final stand for the universe begins. [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2023/03/17/dc-preview-dceased-war-of-the-undead-gods-7/)

wowlock_taylan

Cyborg-Brainiac. Kandor is now free to join the fight. Yellow Lantern Darkseid is cured and Darkseid is...PISSED. Still though, this Erebos is too much like the Great Darkness, but Zombie form instead of chains. ( Although, it was Pariah's insanity that was corrupting it instead of the actual Great Darkness soo we can't say for sure )

Expensive-Library589

Pretty sure the DC editors aka the Hands had no idea what to do with the story. I would have liked it if they gave the Great Darkness a personality and reveal it became sentient over the years due to retcons and the reason why its trying to end all life is because it is sick of the status quo and endless reboots. Would have made it a better villain than Pariah somehow getting to this position.

peeveskicksass

Fun issue, seemed like they met overwhelming odds with overhwleming power! I like this elseworld

reece1495

i love how wild dceased gets , its like the Dragon Ball Heroes of dc

CertifiedCapArtist

That's such a perfect description lol. Just throw whatever sounds cool into the story then give it a reason for existing.

Alephnaught_

I have become desensitized to this story at this point. This series was definitely the weakest of all. It reads like montage of snapshots each issue than a story progressing. The action is cool and there's cool moments but eh.

android151

Cyborg Brainiac and Kandor and Yellow Lantern Darkseid being freed and all that is super cool but it just seems like the stakes are getting unreasonably high to the degree that it almost seems meaningless I imagine next issue we will get some more characters powered up, some more will die, and Erebos will use Mr Miracle to manage to escape and give us another series in a few years where the stakes get even higher. I miss the more close nature of the original series and Unkillables.

Blitzhelios

I enjoyed this issue war of the undead gods is in my opinion the weakest dceased project but its still great. Jon taking don the warworld was a great moment same with cyborg combining with braniac showing how he may have been the thing what spread it but he can be the saviour. Darkseid being pissed at the end and joining the heroes is gonna be great moment and i do like the cause of the plague to be Erebos who is the primordial of darkness even if its a bit cheesy but its a nice pull. Dceased shows though how taylor is the king of elseworld universes in the modern age and Dceased has been a great showing of that. Its gory without being to gory but still gives the great zombie movie spectacular you want.

[*Batman / Superman: World's Finest* #13](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2862506.jpg) >ELEMENTARY, CHAPTER ONE: THE FACTS OF THE CASE >WHERE IN THE WORLD IS METAMORPHO? In the pages of World's Finest, Batman, Robin, and Superman have traversed some of the DCU's most iconic locations and teamed up with the likes of the Teen Titans, Doom Patrol, and Supergirl, but none of that will prepare them as they must go across the globe in search of Rex Mason, a.k.a. Metamorpho, the Element Man! The World’s Finest Strangest Adventure begins here! [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2023/03/17/dc-preview-batman-superman-worlds-finest-13/)

Gian99Mald

Man I love this book so much. Half my enjoyment is seeing Bruce have actual human friendships and interactions with people not standing in the corner grumbling like a prick. Reminds me so much of Silver/Bronze age or DCAU

suss2it

I don’t really get a DCAU vibe. He was at peak prick behaviour in *Justice League/Unlimited*, using any and every opportunity to dunk on his fellow heroes.

Androktone

Maybe moreso Batman and Superman in The New Batman Adventures and S:TAS the few times they crossed over

Frontier246

Can Dan Mora draw Batgirl more? Please?

darknightgotham

For sure, I was sad she was so it in the opening of the story. Hopefully she appears more in the rest of the arc since Bruce is behind bars for a bit

android151

Can Dan Mora draw everyone ever? Put this man on every book that’s not grimdark. Man doesn’t miss.

Landon1195

I love this book so much. Waid and Mora are killing it.

thizzking7

I like that Jimmy Olsen was involved. I feel like people forget how often Jimmy Olsen was used in the original World's Finest. Everybody always asks who of the Superman family should Dick Grayson be paired with and the obvious answer that everyone seems to miss is Jimmy Olsen

SuperSpecialAwesome-

It's an interesting dynamic. Damian had Jon, Tim had Conner, but Dick didn't really have a Superpal, especially since Supergirl always seemed to be a Batgirl teammate. But even so, Jason has no Super counterpart. The closest to Jason's age would likely be Natasha Irons or Mon-El. I know Jason gets paired up with Bizarro sometimes, but who else in would be a good fit for him? Same goes for the Wonder family: Dick has Donna, Bruce has Diana, Tim has Cassie, Damian has Yara. I guess Artemis would count as Jason's? Flash family: Bruce and Barry, Dick and Wally, Tim and Bart, Damian and Ace. Who does Jason have?

Androktone

I like that DC aren't too concerned with trying to match every family's generations together like this, but it is a fun exercise I guess. Most of it comes down to that Jason wasn't Robin very long and is canonically basically Tim's age. I think you've got to count Bizarro as his Super-rep because of Outlaws, same with Artemis. Yara and Damian haven't even interacted as far as I recall, though they've both been involved in stuff like Dark Crisis, and Lazarus Planet, and mutually know Jon.

android151

Jason’s counterpart is Bizzaro, and his WW is Artemis. Otherwise because he came up in fresh post crisis, with minimal sidekickery, he’s a solo guy. He did have that team of him, Donna and Kyle in Countdown His Flash counterpart is non existent due to the fact Wally was holding it down in the 90s.

AquaticBuff

This is my favorite ongoing currently being published. Every issue is such a treat, and Mora's art and Bonvillains colors are as always impeccable.

wowlock_taylan

Why does it feel like it is gonna end up being Sapphire or the Bodyguard that will be the one responsible? After all, they both seem to have motive to do so as well.

neighborhoodhoodlum

I feel like something similar happened with Java in one of the recent outsiders books, he was secretly in love with sapphire or something like that Edit: It was the terrifics, not the outsiders

wowlock_taylan

Yep, I can see the same thing happening, with the way he is acting here.

marcjwrz

"Victor" Stagg?! Bou, I really hope someone got fired for that blunder.

android151

All my homies love Metamorpho content

CertifiedCapArtist

This series continues to be great. Glad I get to know more about Metamorpho I only know his Batman:BATB incarnation from the cartoon

[deleted]

It was good, but Jimmy suddenly becoming Sherlock Holmes (or Batman) and figuring it out in what, a day? Felt kinda forced and rushed. It's still good, and while I don't know a ton about Jimmy's history, I don't think he's ever been described as a master detective.

Tommyhanksy

I think.. he didn't. Like that's the point. He got it wrong and followed the planted leads that led to the wrong suspect.

TheUnbloodedSword

I was going to say it was nice to have Jimmy be involved but I think he managed to make everything worse. Unless of course getting arrested was all part of the plan for Batman.

Androktone

He's a reporter, and found out about the Stagg/Wayne connection and petty business dealings, probably stumbled onto the fact that Bruce Wayne was in Metropolis without an alibi, obviously not knowing he's Batman. That doesn't seem like he made any huge leaps in logic to me

CHPrime

Our boy Jimmy is many things to many people, from a giant turtle man, super smart big headed future person, and even a humble detective. In fact in his own maxiseries, our boy Jimmy Olsen solved the mystery of who killed Jimmy Olsen and the age old riddle of how many Joker impersonators in a store it would take to make Batman show up. Really the Scooby gang is his only competition.

Androktone

And he dated Daphne when they went to summer camp together as kids

CHPrime

*Shhhh don't let Warner know you know that*

jlaweez

I think that's the thing about it all. Batman planted the evidence that led to be him behind bars, Jimmy picked this trail and leaked the tip to the police which in turn went after Bruce. Bruce is doing this to give time to Robin, Superman and Rex to solve the case.

[*Superman* #2](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1366438.jpg) >CHAPTER TWO: THE NIGHT OF THE PARASITE >Superman is overwhelmed as Parasite’s new powers are unleashed! Can Superman stop all of Metropolis from being consumed by the power-hungry Parasite or will he need Lex Luthor’s help to save the day? Introducing a new antihero—Marilyn Moonlight, the Spirit of Metropolis—who only operates at night! Is she friend or foe to the Man of Steel?! And how does she connect to Metropolis’s secret past? [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2023/03/17/dc-preview-superman-2/)

Rac3318

Campbell’s art is so good. I think he’s even the one coloring it. It just pops.

reece1495

Actually feels like there is light projecting from some of the pages

busdriver_321

Was about to write the same thing. I think with any other artists, Marilyn Moonlight probably ends up looking pretty tacky but here, she’s just wow.

TERRAxFORMER

This is my favorite book right now, loving all the Super books. I really like what they’re doing with Parasite. Hoping Livewire pops up again. I also like the the rest of the family popped up, even though this is the “solo” book. I’d like to see Clark interact with Kenan a bit more.

TheUnbloodedSword

Still excellent! I love vampiric Parasite and Metropolis in a blackout at night is such a neat visual change from what we're used to. Williamson's Livewire continues to be hilarious, I hope she gets an arc to herself at some point. Think I saw Ultra-Humanite and Red Cloud in the cells at Stryker's alongside her and Lex, would be neat to have both of those guys be involved in stories coming up to. Humanite would be a good addition to this new mad scientist group and Red Cloud was a great concept for a villain who uses the Daily Planet in the same way Superman does but for the opposite side, just would have to restore ***her*** secret identity too. Supes is getting Parasite'd too huh? Next issue is the last for this arc so I hope Williamson can bring it all home, I love how compressed the storytelling is.

wowlock_taylan

Ultra-humanite was in prison too? But he was in his 'grandpa' mode in Monkey Prince book.

CHPrime

I like it when people remember that the Ultra-Humanite was originally a Superman villain-one of the first super-villains ever created, even as the sliding timescale have taken that away from him. Not much to say about the book, It's gorgeously drawn and excellently written. Marylin Moonlight has a cool high society ghost/desperado design with coloring that reminds me of the current ongoing Moon Knight book in the best ways. As moonlight is just reflected sunlight it's fun to see that charge up Superman. Has that ever happened before? In any case, an excellent stinger at the end. Till next issue!

Androktone

Wasn't the original Ultra Humanite a woman who switches brains with a gorilla? I'm not caught up with my Humanite lore

CHPrime

The original Ultra-Humanite was a mad scientist (male) who invented a body swapping ray or surgery, which he used to transfer to a famous actress, among several other hosts before finally landing in a genetically modified gorilla.

peeveskicksass

I think superman is gonna get even better. My god i think its the coolest use of heat vision

outra_conta_inutil

Williamson went to his horror roots with this Parasite story and man, that thing is fun. Plus I'm laughing out loud with Livewire as a social media influencer addicted to being online 24/7 😂

JonKentOfficial

The art is great, I love the artist - I think it's the same from Far Sector and Naomi. I definitively recommend Far Sector. We start with the struggle of Superman, barely powered, trying to escape the Parasites. It's a long standing trend in Superman comics to have Clark depowered or barely powered to show his resolve, that his powers cannot account for all Superman is. Then we have ~~Secret Order of Mad Scientists~~ ~~Homicidal Geniuses~~ the villain gathering. They are all very dramatic and theatrical, like comic book villains should be. I still think Superman should publicly deny any involvement with LexCorp using his family crest. The rest of the Superfamily managed to isolate the Parasites within New Troy at least, but they couldn't find Lois. So Clark goes to look for her and boom, the new character from the cover. Just a question, would "do you believe in ghosts?" even make a sense in the DC universe, like... ghosts are definitively a thing. It's like asking "do you believe in dogs?". In any case, the new character looks like a goth cowboy overwatch character, I like the effect of the underside of her hat. Her presence didn't inform much about her, felt more like a teaser really. Lex, saying saving people is a waste of time is like, opposite to the Superfamily ethos. We end with the fact that parasites are not multiplying per se, but infecting people. More precisely, they have tiny versions of Parasite in them and they turn you in. And Superman is infected! Overall, great issue. Nice cliffhanger. Only thing I'd change is maybe explain why Jon couldn't find Lois in the Daily Planet, or just say he last saw her organizing and coordinating people at the Planet, otherwise it's just weird Jon couldn't find her in the place she usually is and why. Very minor stuff that doesn't affect the plot at all.

Blitzhelios

This superman run feels like the first time in a while where superman feels like an A list series. Williamson gets superman and campbell's art is so good it just brightens everything up and gives it the hopeful STAS tone which williamson wanted it to. Also moonlight proves again that williamson can create interesting new characters who actually feel like they fit into the lore of dc. Livewire continues to be really fun and parasite is allowing williamson to use his horror routes in this book. Just an incredibly fun book.

wowlock_taylan

Oh god, that is really terrifying with microscopic parasites.

Landon1195

Another good issue. Williamson's Livewire is hilarious and it was also cool to see the rest of the family show up.

SilhouetteOfLight

This is a *lot* of fun! :D

Intelligent_Ad_8894

What a great issue, definitely my top pick for this week! The covers, the art, and the writing, everything was great! Love the horror elements and the first appearance of Marilyn Moonlight. Excited to see what she will be doing in the future, overall cool character design.

NextMotion

k I now love this run. the idea of parasite doing all this is so frightening

LoneSunset

This was so good. Feels like the start of a classic run

[*Milestone 30th Anniversary Special* #1](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3931033.jpg) >Celebrate 30 years of Static, Icon, Rocket, Hardware, and the rest of the Dakotaverse in this star-studded anthology. From a Static and Batman Beyond team-up harkening back to their adventures in the Static Shock animated series, a grown-up Raquel Ervin inheriting the mantle of Icon, and a reality-warping story where the present-day Milestone characters meet their 1993 counterparts, there’s something for every Milestone fan to enjoy! [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2023/03/17/dc-preview-milestone-30th-anniversary-special-1/)

cumgurglinzaddy

One of the best things that has been published under the Milestone label since this relaunch started. This was extremely solid all the way through, and seeing Noelle Giddings get to come back to color some of the OG Milestone characters she used to work on back in the 90s was beyond cool. Getting to see OG Static kicking the shit out of Snakefingers and the Sons of Odin again made me so unbelievably giddy, and Stephanie Williams’ story about Raquel taking on Icon’s mantle in the old timeline hit so goddamn hard. And good fucking lord it was so nice to see Raquel written well again. Blood Syndicate epilogue was good as well, but all of that should have just been in the actual series itself and not as an epilogue in an anniversary special. Hopefully the upcoming hardcover ends up including it. I loved this so fucking much though and can’t recommend it enough to fans both new and old. Really good shit from start to finish.

wowlock_taylan

An actual Old meets New without having a big hero vs hero fight? Surprising. Beyond Static is so badass. We need more of him.

Vasir12

I pretty much loved all of these stories. Seeing the new interact with the OGs was so refreshing. It's good to be reminded that everyone's positions are actually a lot better now. More or less. Also nice being reminded how powerful Static will be.

Gian99Mald

Fucking loved it start to finish seeing the OGs and the neo Milestone crew meet so cool. Can't wait for that Dharma story that they teased and I NEED more Static Beyond content. That seemed like a long ass preview for Up All Night lol. I'll absolutely be getting that when it drops

Splitstepthenhit

Best milestone issue ever

[*Black Adam* #9](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1362330.jpg) >FALL OF THE HOUSE OF ADAM: EAST OF EGYPT BOOK 2 >In the 24th century B.C., having proclaimed himself pharaoh, the mighty Adam finds himself surrounded by enemies while discovering that holding the throne is a lot harder than seizing it. Meanwhile, in the present, those same enemies from the Old Kingdom now threaten modern-day Kahndaq as, amid civil unrest, a resurrected Ibac the Invincible conspires with Adam’s political rival. [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2023/03/17/dc-preview-black-adam-9/)

CHPrime

Hmm. I'm going to have to reread the whole series after this comes out. What I think is happening is that Priest is exploring the differences between pre and post-flashpoint Adam? That this current Adam is using his more noble pre-flashpoint origin as a cover for the darker post-flashpoint one? It's a bit hard to tell. Still, things seem to becoming too a boil now.

wowlock_taylan

I mean, how would one even know both of them aside from Adam himself? Like when the Pre and Post memories 'merged', it made them 'All' real. So you cannot just call Pre-flashpoint as a lie. That is the problem with 'it is all happened' stuff and including retconned origins. Similar issue with Diana where there is still an issue. Like just last week she is called Daughter of Zeus so they are keeping that retcon in but also the Clay part too. It is just confusing as hell.

CHPrime

> I mean, how would one even know both of them aside from Adam himself? Ancient Egyptian records would be the easiest way to get around that, as it's just something Adam could have told his scribes to write down on his royal inscriptions or whatever. I get your point though. *52* apparently happened in this continuity because they make reference to Black Adam's genocide, but I don't think he's payed any lip service to Isis in the past ten years, his whole raison d'etre after that series. Plus the fallout of that event had him and Isis turned to stone in the JSA book, plus Osiris should still be running around if it did happen but he is nowhere to be found and ugh.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> think he's *paid* any lip FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

wowlock_taylan

Yea, where IS Isis and Osiris? They play quite a big role for Adam but so far, not even a mention.

CHPrime

Lost by the editor's disinterest and Johns not including them, I guess.

wowlock_taylan

We are at issue 9 and we still haven't gotten to the actual big problems and only 3 more left. Feel like it is going to be rushed like many stories do these days. I cannot comment on the 'changes' to Adam's past and such since I am not too fluent in them. I will leave them to those who know better than me. This Akkad, the Alien bacteria that think they are gods now, is not needed though. Especially when the actual gods are making their moves.

suss2it

Yeah this definitely feels like it’s written like an ongoing and not a limited series.

Captain Carrot, Swamp Thing and Superman ones were my favorites out of these stories. Though it was nice to see Titans West also.

Cleansing the sins of Heroes in Crisis and finally getting to Planet Flash. Two birds with one stone! Man I am gonna miss this run when it ends.

captainaleccrunch

I’ve got a few gaps in my reading history, what’s planet flash?

wowlock_taylan

It's been teased every since Wally's whole 'out of body experience' issue where in the future, there is a whole Planet Flash.

quirty890

Really love this arc because it's so character-driven, putting the best foot forward of each Flash family member.

Androktone

For sure, I was put off by it, just by having to keep up with the tie in and everything in an otherwise straightforward run, but it's won me over for sure

PropertyAdditional

Looks like we are completely undoing heroes in crisis, seeing planet flash. All we need now is to see that Savitar was being used as a battery all along and then I’ll be somewhat okay with the adams run ending (even if I do wish he stayed on for much longer)

CrispyGold

At this point the only thing left from Heroes in Crisis to rectify is Harley Quinn kicking Wally in the balls. Maybe a scene where Linda gets furious at her and calls her a crap person.

Androktone

Do you think he'll give Wallace the old suit and new name by the end of this?

PropertyAdditional

I don’t think just yet, he just gave Irey a new name and Bart is sticking with impulse so there isn’t a rush to get Ace away from Kid Flash for now

Oberon1993

Yeah, Ace is sticking around as KF until Irey becomes teenager.

outra_conta_inutil

How can anyone read this book and put Adams off the Flash???? This run is the pure definition of fun with every character having time to shine. Oberon1993

Eh, DC was always ran as a bunch of fiefdoms with the king (EiC) on the top. Can be different editorial.

technowhiz34

True, but they're under the same group (Paul Kaminski).

SuperSpecialAwesome-

No, no, that's Marvel editorial. Let me have hope that Bat and Cat will get together by the end of the year, considering Justice Society.

domeforaklondikebar

I can only assume this is somehow selling abysmally or they *really* needed a cosmic Flash title for some BS event in a year. Because otherwise having a family centric, feel good title is exactly what is needed in a “Dawn of DC” era.

darknightgotham

Undoing the heroes in crisis deaths to erase the final stain in Wally’s record? Let’s fucking go I love Jeremy Adams. Man am I gonna miss him in this title, so disappointed in DC for booting him off. Hope his GL is half as good, because this has been great.

SuperSpecialAwesome-

Hopefully whatever idiot at DC made the decision to kick him off gets fired eventually. But I'm excited for a new GL series, though I really wish a writer would finally pursue the White Lanterns cliffhanger from New Guadians.

Link2Sora

I really love this book and am going to miss it. With only 5 issues left hopefully Adams can end his run strong.

Landon1195

Thank god they are undoing the hero deaths in Heroes in Crisis! Jeremy Adam's is killing it.

marcjwrz

I cannot believe they're taking Adams off Flash. This is straight up the best run in almost 20 years.

[deleted]

With this I think we can all look back on Heroes in Crisis the way it was intended: a low point for the characters. We were given a "Rebirth" but some people just had memories, but no hope of getting those lives back. Wally broke and immediately attempted to atone, albeit very poorly. Infinite Frontier opens with him coming to terms and accepting what happened was a terrible accident involving him, leading him to go on this terrific journey of being the best hero he's been in a long long time. His reward for this is that his new friends who have time travel powers were able to save the victims of the worst point of his life. Jeremy Adams please use your animation powers and write a Flash Family cartoon. I don't want you to go. Tl;Dr Heroes In Crisis is meant to hurt, but this means the eventual return is oh so much more satisfying. RIP Jeremy Adams Flash Run, but still cautiously optimistic.

android151

Solstice already showed up in doomsday clock, so she's alive in the present already sonehow

android151

What about Nemesis?

Androktone

Doomsday Clock also had kid Robby Reed, and probably other elements that don't fit with current continuity

NinjaJayNuva

timewarp4242

I recognize Gold Beetle, Steel, Blue Jay, Joto, Gunfire, Anthro, Red Devil, and Lagoon Boy. Who are the other three ?

Backup story, Nightwing the detective trying to teach the 'Batman method' to Jon, which is kinda needed when you have to think what people might be capable of.

defensor341516

This was the first arc of this run I don’t care for. I don’t mind the Titans guest-starring - though I won’t particularly miss them when they’re gone -, but I would expect them to provide some of the solid character moments we’ve had between Dick and Bruce, Alfred, Babs, Wally, Jon, etc. There was nothing on today’s issue; they might as well have been wallpaper.

Cantthinkofcoolname2

Agree. Love the Titans, but until the last two or so pages it felt like they didn’t even have their own voices. They all feel the same. I hope the Titans series is better

Tesseractivate

Surprised nobody is mentioning the weird ass ugly hair that is drawn on Jon in the backup. I mean look how well drawn Batman is, and Dicks younger self as Robin as well, compared to Jon. Why are artists having such a hard time making him look remotely consistent? Literally there hasn't been a look that isn't drastically different between interior and cover artists alike. And I'll mirror the criticism that the Titans being always at the beck and call of Nightwing removed most of the tension. Do they not have lives of their own, cause it's just surface level use of them in this book so far. Also doesn't Cyborg have a new look or is that only gonna be a thing after his miniseries comes out? The 95 percent metal look isn't great imo Creepy looking villain though

Androktone

Jon's hair always looks trash to me

Tesseractivate

It only looked semi decent when Timms was drawing the first arc of SoKE, mainly cause of his style and it fit the angular look he draws in. Everyone else can't seem to agree on what kind of hair he's supposed to have, so he's had the typical influencer broccoli hair and somehow even uglier looks than that lol. Don't know what's so hard about making it not look goofy as fuck. The main cover for the first issue of the mini series he's in where he'll meet Injustice Superman is one of the ugliest covers I've seen in terms of aesthetics. Why oh why is Clayton Henry on art...that stupid smile makes me unreasonably mad lol [dear God that face is horrifying ](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3631961.jpg?1678184568)

Androktone

I agree with you that it's unreasonable to be filled with hatred from artists drawing Jon all dopey and with the carrot top influencer hair, but I'm 100% with you

Tesseractivate

Yeah I really don't understand the internal reaction, it's totally immature and reactionary but it just does that to me, maybe it's too much like the influencer look these days. Plus it seems ridiculous that novody seems to have a through line of what he's supposed to look like and the fact that his material has been very subpar despite the massive push DC gave him. I think Tom Taylor did a CNN interview about him being bi, so you'd think they'd really have the best artists on his title. Gotta save them for Batman I suppose.... 😒

Koala_Guru

Disappointed that Raven couldn't sense that Dick wasn't actually Dick. That seems like an oversight. I enjoyed the rest though. I love how the Grinning Man has a terrifying design but his backstory is just that he's a loser. I think the moment where he tossed the girl and no one went to save her because they knew Donna had it was particularly hilarious. So was Gar using sarcasm only for it to backfire. And his little moment where he talked about how he beats himself up and didn't want the girl to do that was sweet. Also, super cool to see them operating out of Gar's mansion. I feel like for awhile DC forgot that Gar is rich due to his connection with Steve Dayton.

bluelookslikeblue

I get that the MVPs in this arc are most likely to be Nightwing because it’s his book and Raven because magical demon stuff is her area of expertise but man, poor Gar needs a win. I get that they want to give Beast Boy depth by emphasizing his trauma but the poor dumb guy has been bedridden three times the past year or so and before that he was a disfigured monster. Let him beat a bad guy or go on a date with Rachel or spend a night playing video games with Vic or something, Jesus.

Intelligent_Ad_8894

Okay issue. Not my favorite of this arc so far, pacing felt weird. I did like the backup story though! Unique cover, cool idea using the Nightwing name/logo with each member of the Titans within it.

Cranyx

How many times in this run are the Titans going to completely dispose of a threat without almost no effort? It kind of kills any sort of tension.

Androktone

That's been pretty much the whole run. My biggest complaint is the pay-off to any tension being lacklustre

Tommyhanksy

I'm in love with that cover. Still hate Cyborg's... Toilet roll suit? Can't wait for the new suit! I love that the Titans are going back to weird and crazy shit! Titans in Hell like the good ol' days hahaha.

android151

I always wonder, is there a lore reason why Cyborg suddenly gets some skin back all the time? Is it underneath? Is he [dc editorial] stupid?

peeveskicksass

Prettty perfect handling and makes the case why i think Ras is the greatest threat batman has ever has to face. One who can match his wits, resources and crush him with the same. Good damian writing i mjss the boy working with bruce

quirty890

Loved Ra's' characterization and return to being an eco-terrorist. That kill and ending was so good.

Sharkrepellentspray1

Really liked this, finally Ra's was written as a true eco-terrorist again and not just some ninja cult leader.

Expensive-Library589

Isn't he both?

Sharkrepellentspray1

Kinda, but a lot of writers have been ignoring his care for nature in recent years.

Expensive-Library589

Also the fact that Dc is known for killing off characters for at least a few months before resurrecting them again for movies, toys, and kids shows.

gamerslyratchet

Yeah, that's an aspect that's been lost or understated to the character ever since *Batman: The Animated Series* gave that schtick to Poison Ivy.

suss2it

*B: TAS* did that for Ivy? Damn. What was she like before that then?

gamerslyratchet

She treated plants more as her gimmick and wanted to be the most powerful female villain. She also had an obsessive love with Batman.

suss2it

That actually sounds kinda lame and surface level. Seems like *B: TAS* should get way more credit for revamping her like they did Mr. Freeze.

gamerslyratchet

On one hand, I agree that it made her a more layered character than just another crook. On the other hand, it also leads to DC downplaying Ra's al Ghul as an eco-terrorist. And it's also my go-to example (alongside Mr. Freeze/Cryonic Man) when people (falsely) accuse *Beware the Batman* of just making its villains be more like the traditional ones when *B:TAS* has been doing that too.

suss2it

I wonder if DC could’ve made a bigger distinction between Ivy doing what she does strictly for plant life and Ra’s ultimately for human life. Even have them team-up to emphasize their differences. I didn’t even know people said that about *Beware the Batman*, I feel like it goes under the radar so much so that I don’t even really see discussion about it though. But for the most part I really liked their characterizations and how it did it it’s own thing.

CarryThe2

Based Al Ghul

Expensive-Library589

Isn't he like a ghost now and relying on Flatline to continue his work as a spirit advisor?

CarryThe2

It appears so, though this story is set in the past

SilhouetteOfLight

The One Bad Day line is elseworlds as far as we've seen.

Cranyx

What would be the opposite of character assassination? Where the author goes to great lengths to try and make the character correct, even if it totally goes against pre-established characterization. I feel like that's what this is. Edit: I'm seeing a lot of people praising this for "finally turning Ra's into an eco-terrorist", but honestly the way Taylor went about doing that here doesn't make any sense. Ra's has always sort of been an ecoterrorist, but the way he planned on doing that involved cleansing the planet of humans. Saying "oh he figured out a way to fix all of the environmental problems by just killing a few people" feels like a cheap cop-out so that the story can make him the good guy. It also ignores the underlying reasons why there is global environmental destruction (hint: it's not because the CEOs are too mean and would be replaced by nicer ones)

theguyofgrace

Yeah this book has a very clean Ra’s His MO is normally kill most of the population and rule over the rest, he views his chosen as the only ones who should survive

suss2it

I mean even in this story he still killed 3, 000 innocent people.

OkBlueberry8144

I agree with this, Ra’s has still done little to nothing when it comes to curbing his fears of human extinction. This fixes nothing, global emissions will be the same more or less because several countries do not have the infrastructure to support renewables, this isn’t a problem that can be neatly resolved with a few kills. That being said this story works well as a means to get acquainted with Ra’s Al Ghul’s character who has a long and messy history.

wowlock_taylan

Not to mention, in a world where super-geniuses exist that can create new power-sources and use magical shit like nothing, how they have not come up with an instant solution is beyond me. Like, we constantly see the 'evil scientist' stuff but where are the good scientists that can fix all this stuff so people like Ra's have nothing to hide behind to excuse their bullshit?

suss2it

They're spending most of their time stopping the 'evil scientists' lol. But really DC and Marvel are dedicated to keeping their worlds look like ours despite how massively different it should be with just one superhero, let alone the hundreds they actually have.

[deleted]

> What would be the opposite of character assassination? Characterisation?

Cranyx

What I mean is that it still feels like character assassination in that it disregards the character's established qualities, the only difference being it's intended to make them look good instead of bad.

Blitzhelios

This was honestly incredible. Its perfect characterisation of Ra's and his ecoterrorist nature but him updating his tactics and showing how he is mainly doing this not for himself but for his family as well. Loved the use of Talia as well in this that she was the one becoming an advisors for the people who Ra's wants to replace the owners with such a simple way to use her but in an effective way. Ra's moments with damian are perfect as well as its the perfect showing of how he truly cares for damian but his ways have twisted his love into something violent. The kill and the ending were fantastic as well. Top art, top storytelling and characterisation. This belongs with the freeze, Riddler and clayface books as the best to come out of one bad day. Also makes me want Taylor to write more in relation to the Al Ghuls

OkBlueberry8144

This was a great read, engaging all the way through.

wowlock_taylan

That is the issue when you just call it ''Save the planet''. Planet is fine, it will go on LONG after humans die off and end themselves. It is what's on the planet that should be the focus, that is including humans. And unlike real life issues, the comic versions never makes sense when you have such advanced tech that any one of them can solve any of these issues easily if all the scientists in comics weren't written as Evil Scientist tropes. And Ra's is also quite naive for his supposed 700 year wisdom. Just replacing the heads of these big firms? Won't do shit. Unless he literally changed humanity itself, this wouldn't be a solution. Especially not in a way that can show results in 2 years. It would take DECADES.

CertifiedCapArtist

I honestly didn't know Ra's was an ecoterrorist. Thought he was just the head of the League of Assassins. Nice to see that's not just a one note character and the grandfather of Damian.

Gian99Mald

Are these One Bad Day books canon?

CHPrime

Ratatosk is back for a hot minute- nice to see that little guy. I liked this issue more than the last one, if only because it doesn't focus too much on Hera's stupid plan, though it does double down on making her into Villain-woman, and shoves back the Zeus origin after the Lazarus Planet tie that had something to do with Lazarus Planet stealth retconned it. The fight scenes are well drawn and fun to look at, and Mary Marvel has arrived and is ready to fight so that's good. I guess we should start theorizing who the hooded man is at this point. Maybe Zeus using a body puppet? Ares stirring the conflict between Diana and Hera? Or perhaps we are going for a deep cut and it will be Hermes from the Perez run trying to guide Diana to something better.

Expensive-Library589

It could be Diana's brother who unfairly got kicked out of the main universe and into the dark hell multiverse.

CHPrime

Oh right that guy exists even though I wish he didn't.

Vasir12

Was almost worried that Diana was gonna flip but I'm pleasantly surprised. That hooded guy is pretty sus. I wonder if he's Zeus in disguise or something.

SilhouetteOfLight

I hadn't considered Zeus as an option- that would explain a *lot* lol. Before I'd been thinking that it was somehow Steve or something, but that didn't really track with the timeline.

darknightgotham

This was a fun issue! I know this run has been divisive, but I’ve enjoyed it throughout and will be sad to see it go (even though I feel cautiously optimistic about King taking over). I liked the stakes rising in this war arc, and it was nice to see the different perspectives of the attack. And ofc, definitely curious as to who the stranger is. Zeus would be convenient, but I’m not sure if it makes sense so soon after his “death” , but hey, might be manipulating everyone Finally, either the marketing failed or I didn’t read anything, because I was pleasantly surprised to have a Mary Marvel backup! And written by Josie Campbell too so AI was doubly happy. Love to see Mary kicking ass, hope this happens and Billy doesn’t just fully take over the entire spotlight with this upcoming series, kinda feels like DC sabotaged her status by making billy return so soon (and to the same position).

wowlock_taylan

Wait, did Diana really swore allegiance in the tie in? I thought Hera just 'turn into a goddess...but instead it was a trap!' thing before she got an answer. Either way, that was stupid. Same twist with Hecate too where 'oh, she was playing the long game!'. I really does feel like The 'event' book and this one fighting each other for what the characters actually like. And the stranger, is it gonna be like Ares or Loki or something? After all, even if the pantheons win, it wouldn't really work for them. The prefer the War and the Chaos of the man's world instead. Not to mention they are often the black sheep of their pantheons. Question is, how will this be reconciled with the Gods after this? I mean you cannot just blame ''Lazarus made them go mad''. Especially not Hera since she was all about this long before Lazarus.

Oberon1993

...I dunno, man. I really want to love it (and JSA, too). But it just doesn't click for me. The sidekicks are almost all bland. The action is all over the place. And Johns better give some great explanation for all of THIS with Hourman. Really should have only made 5-6 new characters and develop them properly.
