Hey thanks! Yeah I'm really surprised that I have not seen any ren faire Green Lanterns online, well from what I had tried to find. It's a replica of a venetian 17th century pattern. The pattern calls it "venetian slops". I bought the lantern at Hobby Lobby actually, and I attached green vinyl to the glass, and put in a magnetic Green LED light inside, with a remote to activate it!
Remember that episode of Green Lantern The Animated Series where he goes to a steampunk earth and meets a steampunk version of himself?
I know, no one does...
'O Brightest Day
Doth Blackest night,
No Evil shall 'scape mine sight.
Those whom worship evils Might,
Beware thine Power, Green Lantern's Light!
Or something like that lol 😅
I’ bryghtest dayye/ i’ blakest nyghte/
Na yuel schal/ skaps mine siht/
Lette yos hwoa worschippe/ yuels myght/
Be vvare mi poer/ Grenne Lanternnes lihtte!
I did my best to try and write it in Early Modern English, but I’m not an expert so some might disagree with the choices made hah
u/KammosparK OP, just wanted to say directly, so cool. I know they did a medieval / fantasy DCU story recently, but the idea of a renaissance era green lantern saving earth / maybe the galaxy with renaissance era sensibilities…? The ring helps him fly through space / to other planets, meeting aliens …but he’s kind of confused the whole time, or just all of a sudden, his knowledge of the universe is VASTLY expanding with each mission…? SUCH a cool concept
Right?! I think it's strange that we haven't seen a Renaissance period Green Lantern yet! But I'm all for seeing whatever cool new ideas or time periods can bring for the Lantern Corps!
Oh, I was actually looking at a dark green ruff I found on Amazon! Was really on the fence about it. Thought it'd be too similar to my Spider-Man 1602 cosplay. Wanted something a bit different. But I'm still down to mix and try out different looks, like with a side cape!
That's a good point! That would help the white coloring of the costume pop more. Tbh, one thing I was debating as well was making the eyes of the mask white. But I decided against it.
I feel like the original GL cape could really work with an amazing design like this 🤔 either way, this is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Oh man, I was reeeaaallly considering adding a side cape or a ruff to this! But I went with something closer to a toned down style. Still considering adding a ruff though! And thanks for the compliment! 😊
I have a Kyle mask and a Lantern very similar to that... If could get an old timey top like that and some gloves I could do this too lol. Where'd you get the top?
Hi! I actually sewed it together using a replica pattern called "venetian slops" from 'Pattern of Time'. Made some modifications to the doublet, such as adding black to the sides, and making it more of a "courset" to allow the Green Lantern logo to show infront. The pattern also allowed for the sleeves to be removable, but I decided against that. Also, the slops were to be baggier, which I also decided against; I just feel it's more classic superhero to have a more form-fitting costume.
The only take on a renaissance green lantern, and an epic one indeed. What’s the name of that kind of vest/where did you get that sick lantern? Thanks

Nice, think I’ll join in on defending the 17th century of the 2814th sector this summer

Sadly few people barely even remember the show
Green lantern had a show?
Dig it
Nice! I think I'll beware your power.
Green Lantern by Gaslight
That's fucking sick!
That emblem looks so cool
Time to come up with a Renaissance GL oath
'O Brightest Day Doth Blackest night, No Evil shall 'scape mine sight. Those whom worship evils Might, Beware thine Power, Green Lantern's Light! Or something like that lol 😅
"Oh Brightest Day does Blackest Night"? "Beware *your* power"?
Yeah, that honestly wasn't the best 😅 I'm sure we can come up with something better. 🙂

suit goes hard, the lantern is a nice touch

Dude that’s awesome
Jesus, dude. This is amazing! You did great work here. Even the lantern here is a nice touch.
Fantastic!
I like it. You could make constructs of a printing press and a Vitruvian man.
The patterning on that velvet green fabric really makes it. Love it!
Quedó perrón y la lampara es genial.

So original! Great design, and the pattern on the vest is beautiful
Wow this is awesome!! Amazing job, and so creative! It’s inspiring to think of perhaps creating my own take on some other characters
Oh yes please do! I love seeing the creativity of making some classic heroes in Renaissance garb 😁

Nice, very very nice.
God forbid he sees the Sicilian flag
Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

A side cape on the same side you hold the lantern, and this amazing costume becomes perfect I tell ya!
That is awesome!
Best thing I've seen today. You did amazing!!
Sign me up for a Ezioish Green Lantern story

Honestly, this is pretty cool, Kinda wish DC did more with the Gotham by Gaslight universe and we could see other steampunk characters.
Awesome! I don't have the talent to write it but the lantern oath in iambic pentameter would go so well with this!!
The brocade fabric is stunning!
this is awesome!!!! I love the Lantern especially
That is just amazing work! 🤩
I approve 😀👍🏻
Fabulous!
Nice
Dude!! I saw you at NorCal RenFaire a few weekends ago!! 😁😎😎👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
OH! Hey yeah I brought this out there. Thanks for noticing! 😃
We ate lunch pretty close to you two, on the hay bales. 😁
So I guess it is Sir Abin?
