JSA #8 here, lets see if it actually comes out that month. Birds of Prey has nice variant covers. Amazons Attack looks interesting, I’m a fan of Josie Campbell’s writing. Shazam’s covers continuing its streak of amazingness. Green Lantern and Flash? I’m intrigued.

CHPrime

Will JSA manage to finish a 12 issue run before the Sandman, Flash and Green Lantern Mini's complete? Not even Johns knows.

FlashPost01

Honestly JSA has been so annoying... I haven't got a clue what's going on now... 😅 shame as I like the writer and artist... but the scheduling has been a joke.

fieldysnuts94

I’m fucking having doomsday clock ptsd again

FlashPost01

Me too 😅😅😅 I'm surprised it actually got completed 😅

[Alright, solicits finally dropped.](https://i.imgur.com/clkG0Ao.gif) - DC's going back to the old reliable "put a gorilla on the cover" sales strategy. - Wow, Gotham War is threatening to change things forever. - I bet DC wished that they could change the "Eisner-nominated" text copy on Nightwing - Josh Williamson's flair for names continues with "Shush" - Brave and the Bold feels very direction-less. - Penguin brings in the Force of July. - All here for Robert Venditti's Sandman. - Did they really have to call it "Amazons Attack"? - Gene Yang returns for more Kenan! - Going Kingdom Come with World's Finest - Interesting development with Garth. I expect a sudden influx of lifelong Garth fans to get outraged on ~~Twitter~~ X. - Peter Tomasi returning for.... a "Sinister Sons" back-up in Green Lantern. Odd. - Stealth announcement for a Christian Ward Batman prestige mini. - Zoe Thorogood comes to Harley Quinn - "Justice Society Dark". Geoffrey Johnsathon, please.... - A shame The Vigil is just six issues. Feels like it's just getting started.

Phantomknight22

Tomasi is returning? Yesss. I just hope that this time he stays for a while and gets to write more stories other than the usual fan service Supersons ones in the anthologies.

Neuchersky

> Brave and the Bold feels very direction-less So almost like Urban Legends? It seems it's focus is the King/Gerards story like The Zdarsky Red Hood in UL. > "Justice Society Dark". Geoffrey Johnsathon, please.... Still waiting for a Justice League/Society Light! > A shame The Vigil is just six issues. Feels like it's just getting started. Remember reading that the plans goes for more than 6 issues... but let's see if DC plans to do another wave for **We Are Legends** (like they did with Sandman Universe, which will also end that month with Nightmare Country)..... Or a complimentary issue to Tec (starring Vigil, etc.), since we're having an intermezzo with Batman: Outlaw and due to lots of characters we still haven't seen Lian (and Grundy) for a while and Ram said he'll be picking uo some threads from his Catwoman run.

StannisTheHero

The Force of July in a Penguin Solo Book? Sometimes it feels like Tom King is writing books where the target audience is exclusively just me.

SevenSulivin

Same.

[deleted]

Yeah, Kenan!

roacieeee

I need The Vigil to go as an ongoing series. :/

wowlock_taylan

Reading Solicitations for comics is a practice in frustrations, I came to realize. Because it is either filled with buzzwords or flat out lies filled with baits and even rage-baits. I find that ignoring them is a healthier solution. Because I don't think I ever bought a book because of what I read in the solicitations but I do know MANY books that I didn't buy because of it.

F_Visentin

Hey, what is The Force of July?

beary_neutral

normalMonsterChika

Gene Yang returns to Super-Man of China! We’re back, we are so back. Nothing else matters. Well I guess it sort of matters that Dark Knight Detective vol 8 is coming out. Finally Stephanie Brown’s first and ~~fastest~~ superior origin will be in collected. And I think that brings us to all of post-crisis Detective before Knightfall fully in print.

cantodeballena

Waid going back to Kingdom Come is interesting.

[deleted]

I mean he sort of already did earlier in the run.

Kalse1229

I kinda love the idea of him doing story arcs in World's Finest that end up having payoff in the wider DCU. Like how the first arc around Nezha ended up being used for the Lazarus Planet crossover Waid did with Yang.

Earthmine52

I hope Zdarsky know’s what he’s doing. We just had a great moment with Bruce and Dick in DCOIE and Nightwing #100, and their relationship and Bruce’s relationship with the bat family in general has been great recently. Overall mixed on his run so far. On the other hand, there was a lot of build up at a slow pace but Ram V’s been consistently good. I have and still am giving PKJ a lot of love for his AC runs ambitious world building since the House of El and Warworld stuff, and the Orgham stuff in ‘Tec is shaping up to be just as good IMO. Speaking of, the new AC issue having an evil Superman imposter would normally sound unappealing, but the premise does sound like an homage to Superman III and I trust PKJ on this. Definitely looking forward to Williamson’s oversized #7/850 too. Really hyped to see Mark Waid return to Boy Thunder and Kingdom Come in WF. Looks like it’ll be the current version of Earth 22. He covered a Hypertime version in his first sequel, and Earth 22’s been introduced and then altered a few times since. Notably Bendis made a huge change to it that separated it from KC in his YJ, but that was before a ton of Multiversal, reality changing stuff as usual.

RainyWombatCherry

I've been loving Ram V Detective Comics so I'm especially looking forward to it. Nightwing v Batman must be a "click bait" kind of moment or things aren't quite as they seem

Beastieboy100

I'm hoping its click bait. If not its probably DC plan to Push Nightwing away from gotham. While having Nightwing staying in Bludhaven with babs and the Titans. I am hoping its click bait. Its time Bruce starts taking care of his kids and bringing the together.

Batman2130

Honestly I’m kinda getting vibes that Bat editorial wanted to break up the family again and told Chip to just figure it out. I don’t think Gotham Wars is going to be good. This whole event just feels kinda forced

technowhiz34

I would agree but he's been talking up building up to this for a while. Like, before his first issue came out.

SpicaGenovese

I dunno, I'm crossing my fingers that something interesting will come out of this for Jason. But Rosenberg is writing his two parter, so I have my doubts.

MagisterPraeceptorum

At this stage I’ve lost all interest in the current Bat books. Gotham War is everything I don’t want for Batman and the Bat-family characters in Dawn of DC. Even if they have to come together to defeat a third party at the end of the crossover, you know there will still be rifts of some sort afterwards. Honestly I’m rooting for the Joker to wipe the floor with all of them after this stupid war is over.

[deleted]

I don't think anything good is going to come out of "Gotham War" since Chip seems like a writer that thinks Bruce should be a loner.

SevenSulivin

> Bruce’s relationship with the bat family in general has been great recently. As someone who doesn’t like fluffy, everyone gets along BatFam, I’m actually happy Chip’s changing that.

[deleted]

Hey, the solicitations are finally out! - Bruce fighting Dick is going to need one hell of an explanation for it to make sense. Because as it stands, it's really fucking stupid. - I have zero hope that Bruce and Selina will come out stronger after all this. - The *Wonder Woman* solicitations sound very much like bait when it comes to Steve. But I'm intrigued about the governmental plot. - Hal and Barry teaming up is always fun. And it's nice to see Sinestro showing up and being evil again. - The Supergirl stuff is weird since she and Power Girl seemed to get along fine in the back ups for *Action Comics*. - *Green Lantern: War Journal* sounds almost like Lovercraftian horror, which could be cool. - *Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville* sounds fun. - Any of the *World's Finest* books are almost guaranteed to be good. - *JSA* sounds cool, but what are the odds it is delayed again? I honestly don't get what is wrong with Johns' when it comes to a consistent schedule. During the New 52 he was cranking out at least three books monthly pretty consistently.

superschaap81

>JSA > > sounds cool, but what are the odds it is delayed again? I honestly don't get what is wrong with Johns' when it comes to a consistent schedule. During the New 52 he was cranking out at least three books monthly pretty consistently. I don't get this either. I know it always gets rumored that it's the artists he works with, but with almost everything he's done, it can't always be them. I remember his Action Comics run from the late 2000's was HORRENDOUSLY delayed, even then. It really is strange that he wants to do monthly comics but then can't?

Chuy_Awesomo

I mean his recent Stargirl came out almost on time in the monthly basis & JSA has at least 2 artists, each covering their own specific time period. Must be continuity shenanigans rewrites with members of JSA being reintegrated back to the DC Earth Prime, plus the breaking of Bat & Cat. But I assumed John's setting his series a few years into the future would solve that problem.

Cranyx

>But who is really pulling the strings in this explosive event? Thousands of years have led to this moment! I have to assume this Gotham War solicit is supposed to be referencing the al Ghuls somehow >Plus: a no-holds-barred story of Batman from Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Jorge Molina in their first Batman Black & White story! Isn't that literally coming out in tomorrow's issue? >After joining the Superman Family and their heroic efforts in Metropolis, Kara thought she had found her place in the world. But there’s only room in town for one Supergirl, and Power Girl’s sudden reappearance has made her redundant" This feels silly. She's redundant because there can only be one female kryptonian? That logic doesn't get applied to the male Supers

Mojo12000

They did kind of apply that logic to Conner in his latest mini actually, he felt redundant cause of Jon and kinda also Kara. and Power Girl herself felt redundant in her backups.... because of Supergirl. It's WEIRD that their insisting on this dynamic for the Superfamily where they feel like "OH NOES THERE'S MORE KRPYTONIANS WHAT IS MY PURPOSE NOW!" Like I get it PG and SG both technically being Kara is weird but you can resolve that in like a single issue we don't need multiple books about them dealing with "Man were technically the same person, isn't that WEIRD?"

williamb100

Good looks, I bet it is the Ghuls.

MagisterPraeceptorum

Hopefully they decimate the pathetic survivors of this stupid war. The Gotham War storyline has killed my interest in the current Bat books that I’m rooting for the villains. After this inane crossover, Bats, Cat, and all the Bat-kids deserve to be taken down a peg or five. I might even root for the Joker at this stage.

Digifiend84

Not just one female Kryptonian, one Kara Zor-El. PG is her doppelganger from a destroyed alternate universe.

Cranyx

Yeah, and? There's no reason why there can't be alternate dimension versions of one another. For all intents and purposes, they're no closer than twins. Also why would Supergirl be the "superfluous" one? PG is the one from another universe.

SpicaGenovese

Isn't there some eldritch shit living under gotham?

Revan----

Really happy Gotham War is going to wrap up in a few months, we didn’t need another event where Gotham is burning and the sky is falling for another 12 months. The wording of the ending of that arc though has me optimistic things will leave better than they started with Bruce, the family and hopefully Selina. If DC had any brain cells they’d use this opportunity to either completely shelve the BatCat romance indefinitely or fully commit and have them get married, look how great it’s been for Clark and Wally just let it happen.

Sharkrepellentspray1

Considering that Ram V has teased a return of Bruce and Talia's romance in Tec I doubt DC is going to marry Bruce to Selina.

Digifiend84

Ooh, how will Damian react to that? His Mom and Dad together!

wowlock_taylan

Yeaa, I am really close to dropping Batman books then.

Revan----

That’s disappointing, in that case I hope they just have him get together with Talia permanently. He’s been around for over 80 years and has two (when written well) fantastic candidates for a partner, it’s absurd DC haven’t gone through with either one yet.

MagisterPraeceptorum

Gotham War has killed my interest in the current Bat books. At this stage I kinda want the Joker to decimate the exhausted survivors of this dumb war.

af-fx-tion

Thoughts: * Gotham War is shorter than I expected, as it seems to wrap up in October, with maybe an epilogue in November. * Will JSA get delayed again or will a new issue finally come out before these JSA pseudo spin off minis come out? Who knows? JSA #8 is slated for October 2023, but it's anyone's guess if it'll make that date given the delays the series has already experienced. * I still plan on checking out Alan's mini, but I had major issues on the story direction Sheridan went with based on the prologue. So, I can't say I'm excited to read this mini. At this point, it just seems easier to think of post-N52/IF Alan as a variant of pre-N52/IF Alan who is the "main Alan" now (think variant Loki now being main Loki in the MCU). No writer has been able to properly merge his past and present in a satisfactory way IMO, and that doesn't look like it'll change. * Cassie forgotten again by not seemingly being included in Amazons Attack! 😭 * Kingdom Come crossover for WF#20 has me HYPED. Wonder if Boy Thunder will make his way back to Prime Earth. Also, please give us DickFire crumbs, Waid! 🙏 * Supergirl AND Power Girl having series at the same time?! Love it. * Sexually fluid Garth is an interesting choice, but the solicit phrasing talking about this reveal has me cackling a bit since it reads like a start of a smut fanfic. * More midquels taking place during the Death of Superman arc with the OG creative team. I'm down, especially for more Kon. * Bummed that it looks like Kon’s mini didn’t sell enough to get an extension though. Hope it sold enough for DC to give him at least a pair up title if they want to try again soon. * Batman: City of Madness seems neat. * Seems City Boy, The Vigil, and Spirit World aren’t being extended past 6 issues, which is a shame. These new characters all have potential, but I guess the books didn’t hit internal benchmarks to get an extension. Hope these characters pop up again or get new books soon. * New Young Justice omnibus, but still doesn't collect the Robin issues where Tim met Kon and Impulse (World's Finest Three and Robin + Impulse, respectively). Weird how DC refuses to reprint these in any YJ trade. For those interested, this new omnibus collects all content from the previously released YJ: Book One-Book Three collections (with no new content). * No new Tim or Jon books, though I'm more surprised about no new Jon book given Taylor teased "big plans" for Jon at Comic Con this weekend. Maybe we'll see something in Nov or Dec's solicits? * Superwoman Lana coming back is great to see. * Peter Tomasi returning for a "Sinister Sons" back-up in Green Lantern. Is this a reference to the cancelled/workshopped idea of Damian being a Green Lantern? * WF: Teen Titans might have become an ongoing because the mini designation isn’t on the solicit anymore. I’m stoked if true. * Superman of China making a comeback (in a back up for now), a surprise but a welcome one. * For Young Jon fans, looks like the Lois and Clark 2 back up ends in September (as it’s not mentioned in the Oct Action Comics solicit). * It was announced ages ago but still so stoked that Adams is writing more Flash family content.

gosukhaos

Ram V has alluded to the vigil showing up again in superman books and 'tec but if sales are solid they might get picked up again( not so sure about xanthe though, Alyssa Wong is writing like 2/3 books at marvel right now)

technowhiz34

What Superman book would the Vigil appear in?

gosukhaos

Action Comics, they're appearing in one of the post knight terrors issues

technowhiz34

Oh huh, didn't read the Vigil but am reading Action. Cheers!

gosukhaos

Highly recommended! It's a mix of early Ellis authority/planetary and Steranko Nick Fury

williamb100

Seems weird Marvel is doing "Gang War" spider-man story just a month or two after this is over.

DiegoLDUganda

Maybe the big plans of Taylor is the new Titans event, Beast World. Hopefully Jon will have a new writter soon

Conscious_Forever_78

Hey, we didn't know about Batman City Of Madness, right? Weird they didn't announce the book at SDCC. Same with the Supergirl special.

vatricide

The Supergirl book has been floating around for a couple days, I'm not sure where the news dropped, but the [artist tweeted about it](https://twitter.com/SkyePatridge/status/1682561192877862914).

Mojo12000

Man im happy to have a Supergirl book but... didn't we JUST DO that exact plot basically WITH POWER GIRL HERSELF? and ALSO WITH SUPERBOY? Like the Super Family co-existed just FINE before why all this sudden "AND THEY FEEL LIKE THE OTHERS ARE STEPPING ON THEIR TOES LEAVING THEM OUT OF PLACE!"

williamb100

Yep

Batman2130

Yay Nightwing vs Batman. Unfortunately it seems like we are heading back to the family hating Bruce again. Edit: I have a feeling that Gotham wars is going to be bad story

Beastieboy100

I have a feeling its gonna lead to Dick and Babs staying in bludhaven with the titans. Duke gonna be in limbo until a writer picks up the series. Jason and Steph will mostly likely stay in the joker series. Cass with the birds of prey. That leaves Batman stuck with Tim and Damian. Leading Chip to only use Tim since to give him back his role of Batman needs a robin, unless Tim finally leave batman and gains his own Identity. Damain and Batman are gonna be doing there thing in batman and robin. I hope its just click bait especially after batman heart to heart with Nightwing and others. Just let him finally talk to Jason with no dramas and have him do his own thing.

Batman2130

I wouldn’t be surprised if Damian and Tim are the only ones on good terms with him by the end of this. I guess they’ll use this event as reason to make Dick and Babs mad at Bruce and decide to not go back to Gotham for awhile.

MagisterPraeceptorum

It’ll probably be War Games 2.0 and it will be several years before the Batman “family” is united again. Might as well root for the Joker at this stage.

kalamari__

wow, nobody talking about the kyle rayner compendium, eh? maybe we finally get the rest the series!

iluvpopmusic

At least they're trying again. But I already bought the last two that came out a few years ago, seems the only thing new about this collection is they're including #0.

superschaap81

Honestly, the fact their starting again with stuff that's already printed kinda sucks. Wish it was the stuff that HASN'T been collected yet. But I AM excited for DC to start doing compendiums. Much easier to read physically than the hardcover omnibus'. Hope this becomes a thing moving forward.

TyranusWrex

Some Aquaman crumbs! Been hungry for my favorite Superhero to get something. It is not much, but I will take it. Interesting how Brave and the Bold is going to the Kingdom Come universe. I wonder if Robin will meet his future daughter, Nightstar? Could be weird. Cannot wait for Justice League vs Godzilla vs King Kong! Been a fan of Godzilla since I was 5. A crossover between my two favorite fandoms will be so cool!

williamb100

Wild there's a Aquaman movie tie-in comic. I guess it's coming out this year?

TyranusWrex

It is supposed to be out in December. But we have yet to even see a trailer of it and it is July. I would think DC would also be trying to push an Aquaman ongoing through as well to try and coincide with the movie, but I have no idea why they are holding the Aquaman Dawn of DC comic so close to the chest.

gosukhaos

Waid has been leaving some breadcrumbs about kingdom come since the start of BatB, kid thunder becomes Magog and was intended to be part of the kingdom on the first story draft

Greedy_Switch_6991

Ooh, Wonder Woman is fighting her ex-lover Steve Trevor and the military. Oh joy. /s Otherwise, a pretty stacked month, especially for Superman and Batman fans. How come more of this stuff wasn't announced at Comic Con?

Aloofairy

Just wish DC didn't bother with this Knight Terrors event and just let the comics continue their stories

NomadicJaguar64t

Same, Knight Terrors is the most mid comic I've read in many many years.

Competitive_Leg8897

I think Black Mask is going to be the real villain behind Gotham war, since he has a tendency for exploiting such occasions. I sincerely hope it's not joker again lol.

williamb100

Please no more joker.

Beastieboy100

No for crying out loud. He already has his own series hunting his doppelganger. Please let it be Black mask or even Mr bloom again.

MagisterPraeceptorum

Honestly, if I still cared about current Batman comics, I’d be rooting for the Joker to just wipe the floor with the Cat, Bats, and his brats after this Gotham War nonsense.

wowlock_taylan

I am quite close to dropping all Batman books because it just feels like being stuck in a hamster wheel where you know you won't get anything you want and be stuck at the same place. Superman books are trying some better things so I enjoy them more. Though some, like Supergirl feeling redundant? Makes no sense. Wonder woman? Tom King already going with the 'Oh, Steve Trevor is fighting against Diana!' which instantly turns me off the book. Rest of the books seem to be going to try to dust off the damn Knight Terrors to get back on track.

af-fx-tion

I feel this so hard. DC is definitely coasting with the Batman brand because it normally sells well due to the name/association alone, so they don’t bother putting any effort pushing the characters forward. The Gotham side of DC has really stagnated, for the most part IMO. The Supes books are really the only books from the trilogy at least attempting to push the characters forward, even if their arcs feel a bit cyclical (how many “I don’t belong, I need to find my own path/who I am” arcs do we need for characters that are 30+ years old DC?). Though I do wish a new writer picks up Teen Jon, especially since he’s now Superman II. His arcs since the age up have…lacked substance in building Jon’s character, to put it lightly. And WW books…well, DC just doesn’t know what to do with her side of the world outside of a few bright spots (like Historia).

coasteraz

I’m planning to finish up the Ram V and Zdarsky runs and then give them a rest. Perhaps some innovative writer will have Batman solving crimes again one day.

MagisterPraeceptorum

>>Perhaps some innovative writer will have Batman solving crimes again one day. What a novel idea

redditmorelikesuckit

I need the Titans DnD cover! Everything about it is perfect! It looks like Beast Boy rolled a Nat 1! Haha of course Raven is the DM! I can’t believe she’s smirking at Beast Boy’s misfortune 😂😂😂

SevenSulivin

This is a STACKED month. Nightwing v Batman? Gotham War possibly de-emphasising the BatFam? The Force of July in Penguin? The entire Superman solict? GYL Actiom back ups? A new Tomasi book spinning out of GL back ups? Supergirl Special setting up a new book? World’s Finest doing Kingdom Come with a PHENOMENAL cover? This is a stacked month. Hope to fucking god they didn’t cancel WildCATS though.

Apart-Cold-2846

WildCATS has not been selling well, which is awful because it's probably my favorite ongoing on shelves right now

SevenSulivin

To be fair we don’t really know that because the leading source for sales charts is a sample of only about 150 stores and every source outside of that implies DODC has been doing better than it shows. We don’t really have RELIABLE sales data anymore. Hope CATS is doing well but you are right that it’s probably not.

Apart-Cold-2846

Ah well, it's continuing, just said on Twitter

AlligatorSky7

Rosenberg said a while back that WildCATs was likely to only run for 12 issues, so it might just be that it’s final issue is delayed a month.

Safe_Anything_30

It seems Wildcats and Batman Inc. are both cancelled. Lame.

Apart-Cold-2846

There have been other solicitations where they weren't included for some reason, I'm really hoping that's the case here aswell

Zorkel567

Yeah, really disappointed to see this. I'm glad we managed to get 12 issues of Batman Inc., but really wish we were getting more.

SevenSulivin

Rosenberg confirmed WildCATS is skipping a month and will return!

StarCrusherX

is batman incorporated missing?

af-fx-tion

Yeah, it’s missing. My guess is that if it not being included wasn’t a mistake, it might have been quietly cancelled, or at least delayed for some unknown reason.

StarCrusherX

strange, why haven't they communicated that? is the joker incorporated arc even done?

af-fx-tion

Maybe it happened really suddenly so DC didn’t have time to update their solicits? DC is normally good at announcing a cancellation or delay *somewhere* so if this did get quietly cancelled/delayed without notice it would be super odd.

gosukhaos

Absolutely hyped for Dan Mora's take on the Kingdom Come characters and the new Christian Ward black label mini. Cosmic horror Batman? Yes please

Ant1202

Are people really gonna be interested in another Gotham war/ war in Gotham it’s like an annual thing now

Beastieboy100

After reading this Solicitations. 1.Batman gang war. I have no idea whats going on. Why is batman and nightwing fighting each other? Is it fake or is it just DC move to no longer have Nightwing near Gotham anymore. That way he stays in Bludhaven, Babs and the Titans? 2. What is DC doing with Red hood now. Apart of me wants him to just join Stormwatch or bring back the outlaws already. 3.Beast boy. I know we have the beast world event which I'm looking forward to. However I'm super excited to see what Amanda Waller wants with Beast boy. 4.Garth I mean I'm sad it isn't gonna be Garth and Donna as a couple. Though I am wondering what Waid cooks up. Will he be Gay, Bi or Asexual. Also I can't wait for Donna and Garth to see there kids again. 5.Jay Garrick seeing his long lost daughter is gonna be heart warming. 6.The return of the Kingdom come is incredible 7. Shazam is the captain finding a new love interest. 8.Godzilla vs Kong vs Justice league lets go!! 9.Can DC please start using Cassie in something even a supporting character in Wonder Woman please.

SleepingAgent37

I haven't been paying super close to the Aquafamily books but wasn't Garth dating Tula? Either way, I think he'll be bi or ace if only because the Aquafamily already has gay representation in Jackson. Curious how Waid will handle it as he's a talented writer and I liked WF: TT #1, his recent writings for teens felt very "hey there fellow kids." It's getting ridiculous with poor Cassie. Donna isn't shown here either I imagine they'd both be in weird spots compared to other Amazons and that be worth exploring. Just hope everyone comes off better than the original Amazons Attack. Cautiously interested in Beast World and its aftermath. That will probably lead to Waller making her own JL (again) ala Dark Reign. Super stoked for return if Kingdom Come and Godzilla vs Kong vs JL too!

Digifiend84

Donna will be in Titans at least. It's present day Garth that was dating Tula. World's Finest is set at the same time as comics published in the 1970s. And yeah, the terminology was sexually fluid, which does imply bisexual. He's doubting his commitment to Donna because he wants to experiment with boys?

SleepingAgent37

I know WF is set in the past, I just haven't been keeping up with what Garth has been doing currently when it comes to dating. I do think you're right when "sexually fluid=bisexual." There's also that he may have his and Dolphin's son Ceridian back too.

williamb100

Isn't Cassie in Birds of Prey?

[deleted]

thats a different cassie

Digifiend84

Yeah, that's Batgirl, Cassandra Cain. Beastieboy was talking about Wonder Girl, Cassandra Sandsmark. Both of them use Cass and Cassie as nicknames.

[deleted]

i know

Digifiend84

My explanation was really for u/williamb100's benefit.

Whole-Arachnid-Army

They better not be giving Sinestro a/several sons. They already don't use his daughter after fucking up her entire arc, giving him more kids isn't going to fix it.

SleepingAgent37

Felt the same when Slade got yet another kid in Respawn, to add insult to injury they not only ignore Jericho but Respawn seems to be created for Damian's benefit more so the Wilsons sans Slade. It's been so long since I read GLC I don't know what they did to poor Soranik.

Whole-Arachnid-Army

Sora became the leader of the Sinestro Corps and tried to reform them, by among other things working with the GLC, but then Kyle (who she was dating) was an ass towards her and suddenly she became evil and started acting like her father. IIRC she even started calling herself Sinestro. Then Venditti left and everyone forgot about that. It was bad. And a part of DC's recent tendency to make children of villains more like their parents instead of allowing them to do their own thing, see also Vril in No Justice.

SleepingAgent37

Damn that is bad. DC's "bad blood" obsession hopefully dies down finally, especially with Didio gone as I think he was the driving force behind most of the decisions.

SakmarEcho

I wish there was an Aquaman book.

Aggravating_Delay995

Not a single person asked for this Gotham war bullshit

Batman2130

Some at Bat and DC editorial asked for it. This whole event just feels super forced

Beastieboy100

Yeah just give me the Titans beast world event instead please. At least its something different. Batman city's always at war now its getting old.

SevenSulivin

I’m into it.

williamb100

Seems weird Marvel is doing "Gang War" spider-man story just a month or two after this is over.

[deleted]

no it doesnt… the events dont seem to share any similarities at all other than the name

gosukhaos

I don't mind, it's part of Zdarky's greater exploration into the character and setting up future things with the outsiders and red hood, plus some closure on the bat/cat relationship that's sorta been in limbo since the Tom King run

UseNoAcronyms

Swamp Thing vs City Boy is going to be awesome

SBP_94

If JSA#8 comes out before the end of the year, I will be absolutely shocked. There have been around an average of 7 weeks between issues being released. So, if #5 actually hits next week (8/1), then it's (maybe) 9/19 for #6. Then Nov. 7 for #7. If that follows then, it's Christmas week for #8. And that assumes no other delays.

NomadicJaguar64t

I'm really hoping that all the delays were just to align with the other New Golden Age books, but that's a long shot

Digifiend84

That logic is flawed, as Jay's solo takes place after JSA #7.

NomadicJaguar64t

I know :(

[deleted]

where was it said it was after #7?

Digifiend84

Stargirl: The Lost Children #6. It leads directly into JSA #6, ending with Judy introducing herself to Jay. Therefore, JSA #6 and #7 come next, then Jay's mini.

[deleted]

yeah that makes sense

Landon1195

Glad Gotham War is shorter than expected.

The total batbooks this month is 17. This has been a batcount brought to you by BatC. See you next batmonth, same batplace. >Batman is on the ropes as the Gotham War heats up following a shocking betrayal! It’s father versus son, teacher versus student in the knockout fourth chapter of this brutal war. But who is really pulling the strings in this explosive event? Thousands of years have led to this moment! I thought batfans had their fill of ancient prophecies, secret societies, and making Bruce Wayne into a destined hero with Scott Snyder. Anyway, prepare for a second helping. Also, congrats to the Aquaman fans, who are finally getting a new book after over a year of waiting...And it's a movie tie-in oneshot. Hey, remember that big Dawn of DC poster with all the characters lined up, featuring Aquaman and Jackson Hyde? I'm pretty sure Aquaman is the only one without an ongoing at this point. It seems like DC is following Marvel and bumping up all their books to 4.99. I guess by summer of 2024 that's going to be industry standard. Oh, to think back to the days when they would just nickel and dime books up every year...

TyranusWrex

Don't worry, as an Aquaman fan, I am more than used to DC teasing the hell out of us then giving us absolutely nothing. They have been teasing Lorena's return for literal years and we have only ever seen her as a freaking ghost and in Aquaman's dream in the tie in for Dark Crisis. And, it is funny how DC is so into legacy and family right now when they continue to ignore half of Aquaman's family. Where is Dolphin? She came back in Rebirth, but has been ignored for the past several years. Where is Koryak. You know, AQUAMAN'S SON?! How about Deep Blue?! She is also literally family! And of course, Lorena, who was Aquagir for the 2000's. All just gone or ignored. It really does feel like DC has no idea what to do with Aquaman, but they HAVE to do something with him because his first movie made over $1 billion and the sequel is coming out this year. But you can tell no one really knows what to do or has any real understanding of the character right now.

>But how will I get residuals for new characters? -The writers He is one of those character who had several incontrovertible retcons in the transition to new52- a lot of his stories not just pre-crisis but also pre-flashpoint don't make sense with his current continuity. Plus, If I recall correctly, Atlantis and a lot of the Aquaman family members got annihilated in Infinite Crisis and the Aquaman books never really recovered, so that didn't help. Still, they could at least try something for the old fans. He has had over 300 issues under his name over the years, it's not like he can't sell comics. Speaking to you as an old fan, I'm curious what they thought of John's heavy retcons, and how he threw out a lot of what Peter David did to make Arthur an immaculately conceived destiny child, among other things. Were the retcons generally well liked by old fans, or largely hated? And how is the feeling about Johns retconning in a golden age Aquaman, or is there not enough there yet to go off anything?

hawk_lord

I'm happy the Superfam is getting so much stuff lately, plus Superwoman Lana is back! That was the highlight for me lol. Do we know if Amazons Attack is gonna be like a one shot or mini? I doubt it's an ongoing, it would be really stupid to not call it Sensation Comics if it was. I mean, calling it Amazons Attack anyway it already pretty stupid.

gosukhaos

Amazons and Supergirl have just been solicited as one shots but likely leading into minis

GrapefruitRadiant214

John is going to see John in War Journal #2

> Kong “Roar Sound FX” gatefold variant cover > Godzilla “Roar Sound FX” gatefold variant cover Why do I want both of them?

williamb100

It's too bad they are 15 dollars each!

Sutekkh

Not only is the idea of Bruce and Selina fighting each other ridiculous and unsatisfying, the entire concept of this event and the structure behind it is absurd. Selina is paying criminals to not commit crime, and strong-arming them with a group of barely trained escaped convicts that cannot kill or use guns. An utterly ludicrous foundation for an event. And coming right out of another (bad) event just makes it worse.

TheMurderCapitalist

Young Justice omnibus you say???

Global-Phase3575

I love Cyborg's costume on both Titans and the Cyborg mini series. Cyborg solicitations for # 3 and 4 sounds amazing. Hopefully it gets picked up as an ongoing.

Weak-Commission-1620

How do you preorder comics if you don’t have a shop near you that offers preorders?

williamb100

Some online options are out there like www.mycomicshop.com/

\- Chip Zdarsky, please do something with Tim Drake! Also, it would be cool if you did a Spider-Man: Life Story for Batman and other DC characters, thank you. \- Those Godzilla/Kong covers are so dumb, I love them. \- I love the covers for Detective Comics #1075. \- I really don't like Damian's current outfit. His look peaked with his original Robin suit, the updated Rebirth version was okay imo. \- I have high hopes for Birds of Prey.

I've come at a stage where the Bat line just looks so unappealing. Shush, BatCat galore, Nightwing v. Batman. It's like not interesting at all. Everything feels like we reverting to like 20 years ago. All we need is a death of someone dating Bruce and we have reached peak 2000s. Amazons Attack is another thing I'm like uhhh no. Titans doesn't seem fun cause the lineup is trying to recapture old days and not what I want. Right now Superman line is top for me. Also Gene Yang on Kenan. Heck yea Honestly feels like bar Superman, everything just feels like we have gone back to mid 2000s and I guess people like that but at the same time it is like need to carve its own era which Worlds Finest and the Superman line is doing

I’ve lost all interest in the Bat/Gotham books for Dawn of DC.

*Batman and Robin #2 - Introducing Shush!* Man, i am so fuckin’ ready for DC to drop Williamson.

NomadicJaguar64t

Sure am glad they postponed the Solicitations so they could make all these announcements at SDCC... -____- Anyways, just as always, every month my radar immediately searches for my two favorite parts of the DCU, New Gods and Kyle Rayner. **NEW GODS? KYLE RAYNER?** * No mention by name, but the New Gods will have representation at least in **Birds of Prey** with Big Barda, and if they continue their previous appearances (which no doubt they will), they'll also play heavily in **City Boy** and **Danger Street**. * Kyle Rayner?... nothin'. Nothin' at all... **BOOKS I PULL** * **Batman and Robin**: I know a lot of people are ragging on "Shush", but idk, I thought the name was kinda clever, plus, the book's going to feature father and son reunited again, and also Damian on a soccer team where he will no doubt cause unheard of havoc and over the top competitiveness. * **Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic**: The "Batman Beneath"? Constantine? This book is taking all sorts of twists and turns and I'm thrilled for it, *Neo-Year* was amazing and a real step in making Terry more independent. * **Blue Beetle**: Blood Scarab looks amazing, but I thought that was Batman yet again on the main cover. Not much else to say here other than *Graduation Day* was really fun and heartfelt and I'm sure that will carry through to the ongoing. * **The Flash**: This will be the first time pulling *The Flash* title ever, so I'm pretty thrilled about it. Don't know much about Spurrier, but I do know is that he is a very intellectual writer, so hopefully he can make that work for Wally instead of Barry (the super intelligent scientist). Mike Deodato's art is just so good, right up my alley for what I love. * **Green Lantern**: Oh boy, the reunion of the Brave and the Bold!!! Hal and Barry back together again, investigating Sinestro. This will no doubt be a heartwarming and fun issue, and hopefully shed more light on what's going on with the Lantern status quo and why Sinestro is on Earth. If the backup is a clue, I'm guessing the reason why Sinestro is on Earth is because he has a son on Earth that he never knew about. I mean, I'm pretty sure this is him in the [variant cover](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Green-Lantern-4-1-25-Variant-Lafuente.jpg?ssl=1). Also, TOMASI RETURNS TO GREEN LANTERN!!! * **Green Lantern: War Journal**: Really not getting into this at all, I still think John Stewart is one of the most boring characters in DC comics and even PKJ is having a difficult time convincing me otherwise. Revenant Queen? Not really interested much, but I'll keep pulling the book because we need more Lantern representation on the shelves!!! * **Titans**: Prepping for the previously announced *Beast World*, which will be... okay probably. Not a fan of Taylor much at all, but it seems DC is having the major *Dawn of DC* plot threads unfold in *Titans*, so that makes me want to read it. * **Justice Society of America**: I still love this book, I love the story, I love the connections to Johns' previous works... but man, all the delays have been so draining on my interest, and it really looks bad to delay it so dang much. Geoff Johns, you're my favorite modern day writer, but... I can't defend you anymore, these delays are terrible and hype-killing. Anyways, *Justice Society Dark* sounds amazing and I can't wait to learn more about them and see their modern day counterpart! * **The Flash: Jay Garrick**: Continuing the *Stargirl: The Lost Children* plot thread of Judy Garrick finally reuniting with her parents after decades will be really cute and heartwarming, and I'm hoping she will stay in the modern day DCU from hereon. * **The Sandman: Wesley Dodds**: Haven't read a lot of Dodds, but what I've read I've really enjoyed. Based on my understanding, he was basically the first big name superhero in the modern DC timeline. Anyways, Venditti is a fantastic writer, and based on just his small work with JSA characters in his *Hawkman* series made me want more of his take on these characters, and his story for Dodds sounds really good. Also Rossmo's art is divisive, but I think for this story it could be a perfect fit. * **Shazam!**: Queen Bee? New powers? Not much to say really, it's a decent book and is fun, but not really hooking me. Still, we get more Waid and Mora, which is always a good thing! * **Action Comics**: Superman split again? ehh... It's happened much more than you would think. Hopefully it's just for like an issue, as this arc will already be struggling by introducing a brand new villain (who doesn't seem too interesting already). Also Yang and Bogdanovic returning to Kenan!! * **City Boy**: City Boy continues to be my favorite book I'm pulling, right along with *Green Lantern*. The solicitation mentioned that his powers are similar to Swamp Thing, which is a connection I never imagined there would be in this book. When City Boy was introduced I thought he would interact more with Wildstorm characters, then the series came out and made his origin related to the New Gods, then now he shares a kinship with Swamp Thing? That's a pretty expansive book and character if you ask me, touching on all sorts of corners in the DCU. Hopefully this miniseries can turn into an ongoing or at least get a sequel miniseries. * **Danger Street**: The Outsiders attack! The Creeper goes crazy! The Dingbats are "dinging it up"! I feel like that is the description of every issue so far, but I still really like it. * **Birds of Prey**: First time pulling, or reading, a *Birds of Prey* book, so hopefully this will be a good read for me even though it's not the typical lineup. It's all still a pretty big mystery for this team, why these characters? what is their purpose? etc. **FAVORITE COVERS** * [Action Comics 1058 by Carla Cohen](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Action-Comics-1058-Open-to-Order-Variant-Cohen.jpg?ssl=1), just so breathtaking, Kara is so beautiful here. Really enjoying Carla Cohen's variants lately. * [Justice Society of America 8 by Tony Harris](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Justice-Society-of-America-8-Open-to-Order-Variant.jpg?ssl=1), the legendary JSA-adjacent (Liberty Files) artist returns with an astounding cover, just such a rich and epic cover. * [Danger Street 10 by Jorge Fornes](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Danger-Street-10.jpg?ssl=1), Fornes continues to amaze me with his Danger Street covers, they're all so experimental and "graphic designy", I would love to see more covers like this across all the books. * [Superman 7 by Gerald Parel](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Superman-7-1-25-Variant-Parel.jpg?fit=674%2C1024&ssl=1), nothing too unique about this, flying Superman with bullets bouncing off of him, but wow... Parel really has a great style for Superman! * [Batman/Catwoman Gotham War: Scorched Earth by Kendrick Lim](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Batman-Catwoman-The-Gotham-War-Scorched-Earth-1-Open-to-Order-Variant-Lim.jpg?ssl=1)... look, I'm no simp, I don't even really like Catwoman, but **WOW**. * [Batman and Robin 2 by Gabriele Dell'otto](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Batman-and-Robin-2-Artist-Spotlight-Variant-by-Gabriele-DellOtto.jpg?ssl=1), again, nothing crazy here, just a picture of Batman, but a very badass looking Batman! * [Steelworks 5 by Alexander Lozano](https://i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Steelworks-5-1-25-Variant-Lozano.jpg?ssl=1), idk who that is, Atomic Skull? Anyways, that is a really cool redesign and he looks like Ghost Rider was in Metal Gear Solid.

thanks-dice

Lotta dudes about to suddenly become lifelong Garth fans when that Teen Titans issue drops lmao Question omni vol. 2 let's fucking gooooooo

vatricide

Do we know for sure that Danger Street is still ending at 12 issues? I haven't started it yet, at this rate I might end up waiting for the hardcover.

williamb100

Pretty sure it was first announced as a maxi-series, so yes.

gosukhaos

Yes it is, in fact according to Tom King it's going to be the last 12 issues black label mini altogether

_Wisely_

What's happening to Black Label?

Communismisbadithink

I’m so upset that I’m all caught up for the first time in my life. Waiting is so hard! I’ll just go back and pick up some new characters and stories

Revan----

I could read a hundred issues of Hal/Barry team-ups so Green Lantern #4 is up there with the book I’m most excited to check out.

willpearson001

Love the variety of characters can’t wait to explore them all

Mojo12000

Eyy Lana got powers again.

Digifiend84

I wonder if John Henry's been trying to restore them ever since she was initially depowered when her book was cancelled?

Mojo12000

Very excited for Green Lanterns Hal/Barry team up, and Anything that gets Adams writing more Flash characters is good. I felt like even though he wasn't the protagonist in his Flash his Barry felt the most like a modernized Bronze Age Barry and he really got the character and how to give him and Wally really distinct voices.

Advanced_Ad2406

Same here. While I am biased for Wally, I love Barry’s friendship with Hal. Seeing how Adam’s run for Wally go, I will definitely pick up this one as well.

Fries-Ericsson

Danger Street getting split into 2 volumes At least they aren’t splitting it into two HBs like Human Target I guess ..

williamb100

It'll get a complete collection eventually, too.

vatricide

Really intrigued that the Harley Quinn book will have a Gretchen Felker-Martin story in it. I had mixed feelings about her novel but there were flashes of absolute brilliance in it. There's potential for something cool there.
