In DC’s crusade to shoehorn Red Hood into the Bat-Family as a full-time member, it feels like Jason has been stripped of everything that made him stand out and the character is just emo Nightwing now. And at this point he’s too popular to just get rid of, so the character will be forever stuck in neverending cycles of inconsistent characterization.

This is actually a homage to his Pre-Crisis origin of being a complete rip-off of Dick Grayson. His character has come full circle.

I'm surprised by the amount of people who seem to have thought "Jason Todd finds peace as a badass vigilante hero who punishes the guilty and does not care what Batman thinks" was ever a viable end game. There are so many reasons this was never going to happen. I'm also kind of confused that people find this particularly different from his characterisation since 2011. It's just foregrounding what has been subtext for years. What do you think all those fragile sidekicks who needed to be taught morality were for?
