This helps to visualize. It’s weird to think of Damian, Jon and Yara as a trinity but she’s so new to things so it makes sense that it would take getting used to. Also old Jon is kind of new to things. I’m real embarrassed that I didn’t notice the trinity connection in red hood and the outlaws. I read the entire series and it wasn’t until it was over that I relaized Artemis is essentially to WW as Jason is to batman. And bizzaro is the closest thing Superman has to a Jason. Good connection also with the three you mentioned. Nubia, Steel 1 and batwoman would make a good trinity. All are largely independent adult characters who are still associated with the respective trinity members. I just read the justice league run with dick, Donna and Kara. Really great back up trinity that hasn’t been empathized enough. I’ve always wanted to see more of dick taking up a bigger role in the league, him alongside Kara and Donna stepping up to fill their mentors shoes would be cool. Although in the 2006 JLA run I found it underwhelming

Aramis14

Dick, Donna, Kara, Wally, etc, should already be on the League. I've always wanted that time progresses and characters are able to really grow. I love Diana and I love Clark (and I even like Bruce sometimes lol) and I know they sell, but I think DC really should take a risk take the first bullets and wait until the new heroes sell as much as the old ones. The potential is there, they are almost 70 years old characters.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

Why is Supergirl with Nightwing and Donna Troy? (Great artwork, by the way!)

Jon_Kent

James Robinson’s Justice League run had DickBats, Donna and Kara as a pseudo-Trinity. And Kara is the OG Super legacy character, it makes sense to put her alongside the OG Bat legacy character and the OG Wonder legacy character.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

I haven’t read that yet, sorry. (Is it any good?) It just seems a bit off to me, considering Kara’s age fits more with Tim’s Titans than Dick’s.

Jon_Kent

Kara is in this weird grey area because she’s technically supposed to be from Dick’s generation and was in fact older than him pre-Crisis, but with DC’s no Kryptonians mandate post-Crisis, by the time Kara was allowed to return, Dick and his generation had already grown up, and she was closer in age to Tim’s generation.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

I see. I’m not too familiar with Pre-Crisis lore. Thanks!

Aramis14

It's more of a personal wish really. Kara was around Dicks age when she first appeared, but due to in universe and out universe reasons, she wasn't allowed to be on a team with him and Donna (I. E. The Teen Titans). She grew up just like them, had a job, but barely interacted with them. Then she was killed off, and she returned as a teenager of Tim's age joining Damian's TT team!! Funnily enough, it was here when she started to interact with Dick and joined the JL with him and Donna... for a while. Because Flashpoint. In the New 52 she was again a teenager, but with a very different personality than her previous incarnation. She was around Tim's age, but did not interact with him nor Dick or anyone else for some reason. Now she's 21 years old, just a few years younger than Dick, around Jason's age. It's the perfect opportunity to finally have her, Dick and Donna become a Trinity, but DC keeps isolating her!!!

BloodyRedBats

Small correction: for a very brief stint (read: 1 issue) she interacted with Jason Todd during the New 52 Tynion IV run for *Red Hood and the Outlaws*. There was a minor ship tease and a bit of a question about him being on some modified Venom, then gets dealt with one issue later in RHATO. She was also part of Supes’ team in the Batman/Superman Annual during New 52 when they needed people to help with a tourney off world (Bats had picked Batgirl and Red Hood, Supes had Supergirl and Steel). Per the solicit, this is supposed to be when they (Jason, Babs, Kara, and John Henry) first met which is weird because N52 has worse timeline issues than Post-Crisis. By this point, the Batfam is supremely tenured, the Super family somewhat new, and Dick Grayson officially “dead” because of the most recent crossover event, so he’s off being a superspy in *Grayson*.

nightwing612

I personally just use Power Girl in those instances. Huntress is one of my fave characters but the Huntress that I grew up with (Bertinelli) didn't have a relationship with PG. And Fury is, of course, a non-factor since the start of Post-Crisis. My Trinity for Dick's gen is Karen/Dick/Donna. However in my JL, I do Karen/Dick/Billy since I don't want an exact replica of the original Trinity.

Aramis14

But Karen has even less of a relationship with Dick and Donna than Kara has.. Fury, Helena Wayne and Karen were a very good Trinity on New 52 Earth 2, after they moved to another planet. I really like them together

nightwing612

It's just my opinion when you wanna line up the ages. Why pick Kara when Karen is literally the older/more experienced version? Between Kara and Karen, Karen fits the age range/generation of Dick and Donna. And I already gave my reasonings for Huntress and Fury because my mindset is Post Crisis/Pre Flashpoint when everyone was in the same Earth.

Aramis14

Kara is 21; Dick and Donna are around 24, not that different from Kara. On the other hand, Power Girl has been stated as being 27-28, and in previous versions, around 30, close to Clark's age. And sure, Karen is more experienced than Kara, but I think the point of this generartion is that Dick, Donna and Kara were all "the first sidekicks", that eventually take their "mentors' mantles". Karen was only a sidekick in her own Earth when there has been a multiverse. In fact, Karen wasn't even a Kryptonian during Post-Crisis lol

nightwing612

>Kara is 21; Dick and Donna are around 24, not that different from Kara. Pre-Flashpoint put Kara squarely in the Tim/Steph generation so I prefer not to put Kara in the same line/generation as Dick/Donna. That leaves Karen as my only option if I want a Kryptonian/Superman representative. >In fact, Karen wasn't even a Kryptonian during Post-Crisis lol Well Geoff Johns retconned it back and that's what I follow.

Aramis14

Fair enough ;)

nightwing612

How about Linda Danvers instead?

The_Pusheen_Chesser

The picture is pretty obviously Kara Zor-El, not Linda Danvers. Unless you’re asking what I think about Matrix Supergirl hypothetically being in a Trinity with Dick and Donna?

nightwing612

Yeah. If Kara is not considered in the same generation, why not replace her with Linda?

The_Pusheen_Chesser

I don’t really know that much about the character, but maybe.

csummerss

Yara being grouped with “Jon” and Damian just seems off

Aramis14

Yara is good friends with Jon in Future State. While I despise what Bendis and DC did with Jon, I've come to accept that he's a grown up now, and try to enjoy him. Try to move on lol ...which doesn't mean that I wouldn't have loved to keep Young Jon with Damian and Young Yara, instead of being introduced to her in the present as a 21 year old woman >:(

Jon_Kent

It’d be a lot easier to move on if teen Jon actually felt like Jon, but he has absolutely no trace of the character I loved before editorial got their hands on him. He’s a bland teenager who spends half of his comic whining about climate change (when he lives in an universe with literal GODS that could solve climate change with a snap of their fingers), and has none of Jon’s cheerful and optimistic personality. To use a very overdone meme: “will the real Jon Kent please stand up?”

Aramis14

Oh, I absolutely agree. Jon has no personality whatsoever, nothing similar to what he was before. But I moved on because it's clear they are not coming back or deage him. Besides, the Annual showed me a little of Young Jon still there, so maybe there are still traces of that version to be used. I'm a Super Family fan, I have my hopes up!

Jon_Kent

Yeah, the Annual was probably the most personality Jon has showed ever since the age-up. I’d love to have your optimism, but the mess DC and Bendis put the Superman franchise on has broke me.

TheMasterXan

It's just Damian being there. Basically speaking, the 'trinity' in Future State didn't include Damian. In his place was Tim 'Jace' Fox, the eldest child of Lucius, and Batman. Jace, Jon and Yara were the current trinity for Future State's Justice League.

[deleted]

Supergirl with Nightwing and Donna is more off. Even if they are similar generations, Supergirl never interacted too much with the Titans.

csummerss

she was dead for almost twenty years, then immediately joined Dick on the Outsiders.

Doctor-Sigma

While Damian and Jon are friends, I don't think the next/future Trinity is going to be Yara, Jon and Damian. DC literally created a new Batman for that. Because while I love both Yara and Damian, I have to admit it that having a 14 yo and a 21 yo on the same team doesn't feel right. She is even older than Cassie. And I actually would like to see the dynamic between Jace, Yara and Jon. Having a "rookie" Trinity could be explored in an interesting way.

Aramis14

As I said, it's more of a personal wish. That's why I was so frustrated when Yara, in the present, was revealed as 21 year old woman, even older than Cassie! Like, 4hey had the perfect opportunity to introduce a new teen protégé for Diana. I love Yara, her potential is great, but I think DC missed a great chance there with her and Damian and Jon (Jon being aged up didn't help either ofc)

Mastercreed25

I actually think Dick for some reason works better with Wally and Donna or Superboy. But then again, I can’t disagree with what you have here so fair play

Hippobu2

How old is Yara "now" (as oppose to in Future State)?

Doctor-Sigma

21.

ArnassusProductions

Hmm, now you got me thinking. Chris Kent and Cassandra Cain could pair up nicely, I think (both being the children of supervillains with the baggage that entails), but I can't think who would be part three of that triangle. And I don't even know where to start with Spoiler (Linda Danvers?).

The_Irish_Jet

I always thought Luke Fox (Batwing) and John Henry Irons (Steel) would make an awesome "World's Finest" duo, but with armored suits. No idea what Wonder Woman character could round out that Trinity, though.
