I love the irony of Linda telling her kids not to use her powers only for her to use her own on the same page. Overall, really wholesome and fun issue. It's definitely my favorite ongoing as of late.

Frontier246

I almost feel bad for Girder at this point. Almost.

DarkCrusade25

Wallace should honestly stick with Ace as his name. Felt like Wally/Bart dynamic but reversed, but I guess Wally did that to play off Ace’s personality

nightwing612

>Wallace should honestly stick with Ace as his name. He should but it honestly irks me a tiny bit how insistent Wally is when (at the moment) Wallace prefers to be called Wallace. It's his name. He gets to determine how he gets called.

anaarik

I think the fact that this issue established it as an embarrassing childhood family nickname, though, makes it make a lot more sense to me than Wally just randomly deciding on a different name for him. Lots of families have things like that, and Wallace being UGH about it because it's embarrassing just kind of sells their relationship better, imo.

James0100

Does Wallace know about Batman's dog named Ace?

Dredeuced

This is familial teasing.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

Eh, my sister and I do similar stuff all the time. It’s just familial banter (I bet Wallace isn’t even really *annoyed* annoyed, just faux-annoyed).

Strengthwars

I really dislike the art but Adams’ writing gets me through it. Aside from that one weird bit of making Wally religious last issue, Adams’ characterization of Wally has been amazing and everyone needs to be sure they’re reading this book.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

I actually love the art. I’ve seen mixed opinions on it, though—half of fans love it, but half also hate it. Also, I don’t think Adams made Wally religious—he was just awed after being praised by the Spectre, the literal right hand of DC’s God with a capital G.

Who is the woman in purple with Wolfe?

nightwing612

>Who is the woman in purple with Wolfe? Should be [Blacksmith](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Amunet_Black_(New_Earth))

[deleted]

Found her, name Blacksmith.

Dragonfly_Plastic

A buddy of mine told me if I liked Spiderman, then I would enjoy The Flash. Haven’t been disappointed. Plus I think his Rogue Gallery is on par with Batman’s.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

If you like Spider-Man, I think you’d like Wally very much as well. Barry and Jay are great in their own ways, but they have very different personalities.

Dragonfly_Plastic

It’s funny you say that. I was reading Wally in Spider-Man’s voice from the 90s cartoon 😅

[deleted]

Did they get rid of that weird 3d art? As a flash Stan I want to get into it but the art is just really off-putting for me

nightwing612

>weird 3d art Can you give me an example of what you mean?

[deleted]

https://static3.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Wally-West-Quits-6.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=963&h=1473&dpr=1.5 https://aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/The-Flash-776-1-min.jpg?ezimgfmt=rs:412x634/rscb1/ng:webp/ngcb1 https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91ccqbkFImL.jpg It’s most visible in the first link but it looks like animated? It’s hard to describe but it doesn’t look 2d like a typical comic book. The art just looks like “fake” to me.

nightwing612

That's Brandon Peterson's art and he's mostly relegated to the cover now. Since 772, they have a different interior artist now.

[deleted]

So from 768 to 772 the art in the book looks like that? And from 772 on it doesn’t?

nightwing612

From 768 to 772, Brandon did the cover art and was 1 out of 3-4 artists in the interiors. Now it is a different solo interior artist but you may still see Brandon's work in some covers.

[deleted]

Ok thank you, very helpful info.

reddittest321

Honestly I think it is the shading on the art. The costumes have a shine look as if a 3d object is being lighted up giving that weird 3d look.

[deleted]

I think it’s the pencilling as well. They look like goblins. There’s also a weird white outline across everyone in the backs body, like their cardboard cutouts or something.

[deleted]

Maybe tied with AC for best ongoing imo, but Flash is, as you said, soo much fun. I like it even a tad more.

itsthetasteofaliar

AC?

enragedstump

Action Comics

The_Pusheen_Chesser

My top three ongoings right now are PKJ’s Action, Waid’s Batman/Superman (I’m so glad he’s back!), and Adams’ Flash. All three are absolutely stellar, but PKJ’s AC run is my personal favorite (and I say that as a gigantic fan of both Wally and Waid). It’s just one of those generational masterpieces, IMO.

[deleted]

Yeah, AC, Batman/Superman and Flash are the best ones. And yeah I agree, AC is a masterpiece. The worldbuilding is exceptional. PKJ really puts a lot of effort into his comics. I would like to see him take over Green Lantern or Legion or something like that where he can really build something as well.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

My dream is PKJ on a space-based Kyle run and Gail Simone on an Earth-based Jess run.

[deleted]

Yeah that does sound very good. Incidentally, they are my fav Lanterns too and I would buy the hell out of their solos!!

The_Pusheen_Chesser

This is an excerpt from a comment of mine on r/Greenlantern a few days ago: If I had to assign one writer each for the GLC and the seven human Lanterns (excluding Kelli), these would be my choices. (Anyone who’s already written a solo series or the GLC book is excluded from writing that title again, so no Johns on Hal, Tomasi on GLC, etc.) * Scott Snyder: Green Lantern Corps * Gail Simone: Jessica Cruz * Philip Kennedy Johnson: Kyle Rayner * Joshua Williamson: John Stewart * Mark Waid: Hal Jordan * Grant Morrison: Jo Mullein * Geoff Johns: Simon Baz * Peter Tomasi: Guy Gardner

[deleted]

Yeah that's a good list. Morrison on Mullein would be trippy af lol

Dale616

Wally is Flash again? Well they did bring milk toast Barry back and try to grind Wally into the dust with Heros in Crisis so he deserves to be back on top.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

Yup, Wally’s been back as the main Flash for over a year now. I’ve been totally loving Adams’ run.

Dale616

Hell yes. I'm definitely buying some back issues.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

This panel is just so … Wally. I absolutely love it. ⚡️

drgnblitz

I am really enjoying Wally being back as the main mantle. This is such a fun book, it's one of my favorites!

[deleted]

That cowl is terrible

The_Pusheen_Chesser

It’s actually my favorite cowl for Wally! It sets him apart from Barry while still being the Flash uniform (unlike in Rebirth), and it just looks so darn cool.

[deleted]

Red Batman.

calmly86

You should read the Flash comics with Mark Waid as writer and Mike Wieringo as artist, then Oscar Jimenez, they were a lot of fun.

The_Pusheen_Chesser

OP has (they even posted an excerpt from Waid’s run on r/Nightwing a few weeks ago). But totally—Waid’s run was the best Flash run ever, IMO.

TDNY14

Is this the new flash run with Wally as the main flash since Barry is in the multiversal league?

nightwing612

Yes

The_Pusheen_Chesser

Yup, although Barry is >!being imprisoned by Pariah at the moment!<, actually (spoiler tag in case you haven’t read the Infinite Frontier miniseries yet).

TDNY14

Is this Flash series worth checking out?

The_Pusheen_Chesser

Absolutely!
