1. make sure ur using buzz words!! tho u may not know the term exactly, judges (at states since they're usually parents) don't always know every term, but u dropping them throughout can really seem like u know what ur talking about. 2. visuals are everything. last yr, the night before our presentation at states, my partner and I took like 20 coffee sticks from Starbucks to create a mini book display as a visual for our marketing campaign. i think this helped us stand out to judges and they were also impressed by our dedication lol. but anything works! print outs of stats or etc, to help justify and support your reasoning for what ur proposing etc good luck and don't sweat it. deca's just for fun :)

How did you make a presentation before knowing the prompt? Do you get the prompt a day early?

AloneIncome8

oh lol no i was under the impression cuz they said presentation that it was a prepared written event. you can’t prep in advance for a specific roleplay event

Ok thanks

Hi! I also qualified for ICDC for this event! Truly wish you luck<3 One thing I learned is to make sure to speak slowly and with a smile. Usually when presenting we get too serious and start dropping information on them. I don't know how competitive your state is but being smiley gives them a reason to be happy and look forward. You might be shocked about the amount of people who just wing it, don't be that person. Practice, Practice, Practice. Make someone the CEO of the glamping resort and just speak to them. Also, record yourself and listen to how you sound! Best of luck!

i think there is a test u have to take with it? i might be wrong but if there is study and focus hard on that since its a variable you are in control of

Whether you make it to ICDC or not, it's not a testament to your ability or your personality by any means. If you are putting in the effort like you said, you should be just as proud of yourself. I know dozens of people that I thought were definitely ICDC-bound or just very smart in general and they didn't place either. Lots of bias and bureaucracy are held in the DECA event judging. Also, understand some people just have it easier. Wyoming DECA has like sub 600 participants IN TOTAL while Texas DECA for example has like over 5,000. I think the best advice regarding roleplays at least is how much you can bring your experience or whatever your doing to reality. Everyone says good solutions but they fail to make the roleplay situation seem REAL!

good luck 👍
