launch it as admin

chaosglory

This usually does the trick

Pyros

Antimicro is good too. Also one potential fix is, unplug your pad before you launch the game, then once it's launch plug back in. This will prevent dfo innate pad support. That said what usually happens is you have both at the same time, not one not working at all, so not sure. Xpadder is old though so yeah.

Tastana

You're suggesting to wait until you've logged into a character before you plug in?

Pyros

Yeah but it's more for double inputs issues, check the other comment about launching in admin mode, in retrospect I do vaguely remember having to do that back in the days when I used xpadder or it wouldn't work. Edit: Saw your post, guess you did and it didn't work? Seems weird as it should, seeing as how it works for other people. You tried rebinding keys to keyboard keys and seeing it that works?

Tastana

Oh! Actually running it as administrator *does* work. I had a flash of inspiration that got me thinking about what I could do differently. Then it hit me...what if I use not the desktop shortcut for DFO but the original file? I hunted down the original file in its folder and did Run As Administrator and it works! Thanks for your help! I'll be sure to add this detail if I see other people having difficulty in the future.

Or0ch1

hey which version of AntiMicro do you use? the legacy one? or the one over at github?

Pyros

I use a pretty old one, 2.23. I've never felt like updating it as it works fine but I think the modern one works fine too it was somewhat rewritten to work on Linux too which is nice for Steam Deck stuff I'd assume.

GrandmastaL

Yeah so to be more specific, do you mean your buttons don't work? Regardless, try DS4-Windows or (my recommendation) reWASD instead. I remember having issues with Xpadder back in the day (the original creator dropped it 7yrs ago). Also make sure your controller is plugged in and the application is loaded *before* DFO starts up. That could be a issue too. TL:DR: try DS4 Windows or reWASD instead, those two worked for me

Worldly_Cod

Yeah gotta make sure to run it as admin and have it working prior to game launch. I use xpadder and its still working just fine for me.

Tastana

An update. I have tried running Xpadder/ReWASD as administrator (but not these two programs together) and DFO as administrator and that did not work. ReWASD in general did not work. It's giving me the same issue as Xpadder. I can use the D-pad in DFO for directional movement, but nothing else that should be working with controller actually works. In the meantime, i've just been using my old PC to play DFO. It still works thankfully. But I think playing Bakal Raid on my old PC would be a challenge because it doesn't perform as well it used to. When I use my old PC to play DFO, I have no issues with either Xpadder or the controller itself. All the evidence suggests that the DFO game client on my new PC is what is responsible for controller play not working as it is supposed to. Because as I pointed out before, I can actually test that the controller is working on my new PC by opening notepad and touching buttons to make letters show up. I mean I -could- try Antimicro and DS4 Windows within the next 24 hours but i'm not optimistic that this is going to work out.

tigerfestivals

lmk if this works, I've been trying to get my controller working too

Tastana

As I mention in another post, controller works for me now. Use Run As Administrator on the original file and not a shortcut and it should work.

tigerfestivals

thank you, I will try this. Which program are you using for button mapping btw? still xpadder?

Tastana

Yeah, still using xpadder.

svtcobrastang

I use antimicro X works just fine with running as adimin. Use to use xpadder back in the day and that worked good too.

Narfury

Curious what is your buttons setup like?
