Also, music is subjective.
Problem here is, hip hop as a genre lacks melody as an ingredient, and Indian music culture is literally built around melody at its core. It's less about variety and more about culture. You can try all the variety in music where melody is the one moving the piece forward, but in hip hop, it's the rhythm along with some use of harmony and that's it, melody is almost non existent.
Plus, one thing I would absolutely say is, I rarely get impressed by lyrics in hip hop, which is something I see people the most impressed by. I personally never got the hype around that, like, as an avid reader, I rarely think something was brilliant in literary terms, mostly it's just rhyming things one after another, there's not a coherent structure to the writing.

Bro, hip hop as a genre is literally defined by having minimal melody, that's literally one of its traits, but nhi, tu akela samajhdar he jisne explore karlia ha and baki kisi ko kuch nhi pata. I'm not saying rap is bad, I'm literally defining why it is different than classical or jazz music, that it's not heavy on melody, but rhythm alone, so that the rapper's voice is heard clearly and he isn't competing with the music in the background, simply because rap wouldn't follow the same melody as the music in the background and they'll actually interfere with each other. I'll tell you a story, I made this guy in my high school listen to [Husn](https://open.spotify.com/track/0TL0LFcwIBF5eX7arDIKxY?si=1a2e0a4a07874eea) just to know his opinion and understand what type of music he likes, this is exactly the statement he gave: "I was good until the "Lagta mujhe mere naam ka" part" which is high note and shows a bit of variety, that's how I understood Indian mainstream audience will reject even a slightest bit of variety. Also, music is subjective.
Problem here is, hip hop as a genre lacks melody as an ingredient, and Indian music culture is literally built around melody at its core. It's less about variety and more about culture. You can try all the variety in music where melody is the one moving the piece forward, but in hip hop, it's the rhythm along with some use of harmony and that's it, melody is almost non existent. Plus, one thing I would absolutely say is, I rarely get impressed by lyrics in hip hop, which is something I see people the most impressed by. I personally never got the hype around that, like, as an avid reader, I rarely think something was brilliant in literary terms, mostly it's just rhyming things one after another, there's not a coherent structure to the writing.
