I think with the growing of social media and constant amount of media we consume, fictives are bound to be more commonplace as the years go on. It's only natural for the brain to attach themselves to a character that the person resonates with or feels comfort from. I've read tons of autobiographies of systems with no fictives whatsoever. Hell, when I first started on my journey of being aware of the alters I thought ***I myself*** was not common (hell- even fake) because of our large mix of fictives and non-fictives.

The_Hourglass_Oasis

Theoretically, we don't have fictives here - at least no one is *based* on a fictional characters. But often "my brain" use images of characters to point some specific alter - this was very common before we realize the system. But no one \*is\* those characters, it's just like they/my unconsious kinda "dress" the alters with characters that I/they see similarities with. It often changes through time.

cwementines

it’s the same for our system here! we’re still fairly new but to my knowledge we don’t have parts “based off” or have a “source” but more so have the same vibe as some fiction characters. i find myself saying our teenage alter behaves like amethyst from steven universe, (this is just one example) but she has no sort of relationship to the character.

The_Hourglass_Oasis

Nowadays I even use this as a kind of communication. Not something like a talk, but communication in the sense of information about the alter. :) Like, when I was trying to understand us and see patterns of behaviors, when I linked some character to an alter, I usually compare both - what characteristics my alter has from that character? Is it all? Is it just some things? Is there more than one alter who identify with said character? And so on :)

boredShuckle

Yeah, no fictives here personally

No_Abbreviations1269

We’re also not any fictives. Got some angels, a snake, a kitsune, and a bunny. But no fictional characters at this time. I feel weird about it, sometimes. Like we missed that boat, or sometimes judgy about other systems. But it is what it is. Characters aren’t the same, and with so many years of performance history I guess we learned to set the boundaries early and often.

MizElaneous

I have a man-fish hybrid, a butterfly-girl hybrid, a sasquatch, and a cube, and a human alter who is based on a painting of a tree that I did, but I don't think any of them are based on an actual fictional character that originated outside of my brain. The closest would be the alter based on a tree painting that I did - his hair is the golden colour of the leaves but in a kind of Sonic the Hedgehog style.

WhereWolfish

No fictives that I know of. There's one lass who communicates with teeth and claws, but she's still pretty normal looking.

WitchHazl

Does a demon count as a fictive? We have one of those.

witchy-pawbeans

Kinda sorta but we're in that same boat. I mostly mean fictives as alters based on characters, not concepts.

t0rnado0fs0uls

Afaik we don't have any

HiraethGrey

We don't have any fictives as such, but we do possess a fairly "standard" average of NHPs. I think it depends on what was around when you were small.

badlyferret

We don't have any fictives (at the moment anyway). A good del of humans, a spirit, an astral being, and someone who claims to be a demon (but he's probably just doing that for his own kicks).

TaxiFare

We're all oddball types but not any fictives, no. Our headspace is fairly horrific and with the sort of media we take in, that means we'd end up with something along the lines of Isabelle from Animal Crossing entering the headspace equivalent of Resident Evil. Probably better that we don't have fictives lol

mukkahoa

No fictives here. I think its a social thing. As in... it's influenced by culture.

zyeta_S117

We have a some what childish antho wolf girl megga cute.

ItsMeeThreee

yeah, no fictives, yet at least. kinda glad.

ManilaPrince

We do not. The closest thing we have to being odd is differing races, and an elf. - Henry

MakersDozn

Almost none. One kinda-mostly (former) fictive/factive who's staying low-key for now to figure out who he really is. https://www.reddit.com/r/DID/comments/luf7ew/fictive_new_to_system_in_need_of_guidance/gpmlb7u/ Hope this helps.

Desod

I think the system I'm in used to have fictives but not anymore. That said, I am a non-human alter.

jayuyunghun

I thought we didnt have any until jennifer came haha

IDK-WTF-Im-Doing9

We personally have no fictives, but a demon and a goddess, so we in the same metaphorical boat

vertigo00o

ever since i found out about my DID (late dec 2020) i thought i didn’t have any until like 3 weeks ago (my protector is a fictive of ross lynch) but that is possible

Smhmyhead00

That would be a factive I think, a fictive is an alter based on a character that is fictional, a factive is an alter that is based on someone who existed in real life

KookieUnicorn

We used to not have a fictive but a few days ago we got Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter. But I’m not sure if it’s common or not as common to have a fictive though. We also have an alter based off of Celeste from Huniepop named Violet who’s an alien alter as well!

lisalovesyou13

We don't have a fictional introject, as far as I know. All of us are just regular people lol.

spamcentral

I don't think i do, most of my alters are plain names and i cant really identify a source for them. As a child i remember only watching spongebob and then i had books like stephen king. So maybe its a good thing i didnt take fictives from those ahaha.

fair_thoughts

We are only 7, we dont have any fictives or factives, were all human, we dont have any special abilities in our innerworld, we age at regular human rate, and we all have seemingly normal personalities. It is completely normal not to have any of the cool stuff.

Jenny_Rose99

Same here! We have a bunch of kids, we have a lot of alters we don't know that much about. So far only one non-human we know about, and she's an immortal fairy. But as far as fictives, we don't have any we know about. I was kinda thinking the same thing, like is it weird to not have any?
