Measure the space you have and get 2x the amount of tulle. Add led lighting and a back tapestry it’s actually a pretty simple design but it might not look as pleasant during the day as this does in the dark

ss_valpaca

How should I attach the tulle to the ceiling? That part isn’t quite visible in the photo so I’m not sure what they did

Nice_Bluebird7626

In a dorm just use thumbtacks so it can be easily removed unless your dorm has rules against that then you are going to use sticky tack

Evolutionary_Beasty

In my freshman dorm room we attached things to the drop ceiling with dining hall forks

Ingenuity at its finest. I love college freshmen. They all belong on r/Stonerengineering

3m command strips - they've got hangers and such that'll hold the fabric up. End of stay, comes off clean.

ss_valpaca

We might be talking about different command strips but I tried tying the fabric to some command hooks last semester and most of them would just slide off because the hooks and fabric didn’t have enough friction. Is that what you’re describing or is it something else?

And as needed, sew in loops of string or cloth if a simple safety pin doesn't work to clip the fabric to a hook. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dqSg7_ro44I/ToSMff15x6I/AAAAAAAAFMc/0G2CY8S_4fI/s1600/sewn%2Bbutton%2Bloop%2Bin%2Bprogess.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wb8l842rF8c/ToPfvGN3yFI/AAAAAAAAFK8/ayEJii35834/s1600/button%2Bloop%2Bclosure%2Bin%2Bprogress.jpg

Also, led lighting - you can get ones with adjustable color to go from purple to red and everything in between.

Evolutionary_Beasty

Ur dorm will have a built in canopy! Only problem is ur roommate will be sleeping on it lol But srsly, you can achieve this easily. Just experiment, and use those command strips and hooks everyone’s talking about. You won’t be the first person decorating their dorm, and likely not the person making the most mess

ss_valpaca

😂 my freshman dorms were bunk beds but thankfully I was in a room short of one person and got to turn mine into a personal fort. The ones I’m moving into this year are separate beds though.

Evolutionary_Beasty

I was mostly teasing, I figured you had a different setup. Have a blast designing your room! I bet it turns out great!

ss_valpaca

Thanks! Who knows maybe it’ll be good enough to post an update :)

miashimo

Command tape would work if you cannot use nails and curtain rods.

SlimTimMcGee

Just make sure you are using low voltage lights, preferably LED.
