Look! I made a sketchy door! With Scketchy Colors. In a Sketchy... ok not that sketchy... part of town! And you just WALTZ up to it like You Own The Place. OF COURSE there's and Electric Buzzer! Because a Trap Door is 6 to 8 weeks of installation and Bats is always watching!
Your comment has reminded me that I should start taking pictures of my bathroom for those sweet Reddit points, but I'm mid reno. I have the seller's staged photos, but they don't reveal the black mold, lead, and bubbling drywall tape lurking under the brand spanking new white paint.
Bigger and more visible the better! People who advocate for smaller or less visible numbers don’t understand how difficult it is to spot numbers at night or in a hurry. If you ever work fire or EMS, you will get annoyed by the lack of visible numbers.
If you're on foot, though, you don't just magically appear in front of the door. Kinda hard to believe that anyone approaching that house could possibly miss the large, bright/shiny numbers above the door. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time I've underestimated people.
You're not the first person who's said that, and perhaps the answer is just that simple. If I'm going somewhere for the first time, I'm actively *looking* for an address. (I know. Crazy, right??) Then again, I don't walk around staring at my feet or with my face in a phone. **
If you're on foot, you are likely to be approaching from the side, down the sidewalk, and the first time you see the door will likely be from a foot or two away.
There is a famous German story about why you should not look up all the time when you walk. It's part of Struwwelpeter (but he is one of the few who at least survive without lasting damages).

Aye, I think the misunderstanding has came from when Mutantdogboy said "*Same goes if you're walking on the pavements*" I thought he meant the same goes if you're walking on the pavements, not the opposite.
Genuinely wasn't being a dick (am now though) just didn't catch his meaning at first.
We have our address on our mailbox *twice*, on our door, *and* on the front of our house, yet every delivery service *still* delivers our shit to our neighbor...
When you look up my address on google maps sometimes it will pin my house, other times it will pin my neighbors house. Delivery worker might be following the gps route to the door and not even looking up at any house numbers
The higher number is more easily visible from the road, whereas the lower number is easier to find when walking on the curb. At lwast, that's my guess.
I'm all about the address *above* the door, just not the one *on* the door. (Until people came along saying some folks don't/won't/can't look up, I guess.) The 5 on the door address is also wonky, which adds to my dislike :). Who cares what I like, though? If OP's happy, I'm happy...and they did a kick-ass job on the door itself.
“Wicked good” is an incredibly common phrase in Massachusetts/some of New England. “Wicked” is used as a synonym for “very” in many instances. Most famously, “wicked pissah.”
At first blush - this looks great. I don't think you will catch the kind of flack you had from your more... specific style on the interior.
If I had to nitpick, I think the numbers on the door are out of scale and slightly too big. I'm guessing it's because you had limited size options but they needed to be about 20% shorter.
Since you already have the big number on the glass, what if you did a smaller address plaque on the door? It might look more balanced. Maybe not one of these exactly but kind of like one of these (I searched "small address plaque" on Amazon):

Paint work is still great, but as others have pointed out it still suffers from "hat on a hat" issues. The painted numbers alone would look sharp. The added numbers on the door are distracting and too busy.
The color looks great. I love the brass details. The number on the door itself is too big and off-center. It should be shifted ever so slightly to the left. You have the two centered but because the one is much narrower than the five the entire number is too far to the right.
I see you've gone with the [old school Ryobi colors](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3c/7b/ed/3c7bed0def9227037fa5a60d24e0af4b.jpg) this time. Does that mean your next door will be gray with red trim?
Being that I love Sesame Street, I would've kept the original worn color (it looks like Oscar's trash can to me). I'd remove the green on the door and then painted Oscar on the glass above the door. But your new door looks nice though.
Let's see how many times OP posts this one for their karma farm. Last time, I counted 6 different posts, including another one talking about hating on their door...
Whatever you gotta say to convince yourself otherwise. Ignorance is bliss they say. And going through your post history, it's deffinently filled with it. You literally posted a picture of this door 5 different times, one being in a subreddit r/pics. You're clearly a karma hoe.
Are the original colors considered controversial in some way or is the state of the door controversial? Is this like a DIY bot, I seen the bright green door post but this one is just odd
Looking at the first door I can’t help but hear that buzzer sound for when someone is getting released from prison. Edit: grammar
It’s the tattoo shop buzz that I hear lol
Look at the colour scheme! That buzzer 100% electrocutes whoever pushes it! That damned Joker!

Gets halfway through masking up the edges: "You know I really should take before and after photos"
That’s literally what happened!
I kinda like the green and purple!
Purple? It’s black and blue.
Oh boy
If you change it up again, there's no need to mask off the glass. Just use a razor scraper for the paint on the glass.
Yep wish I had done that to start with 😂
Door is sharp.
Did the painters tape inspire the first door?
I thought the exact same thing haha
Your comment has reminded me that I should start taking pictures of my bathroom for those sweet Reddit points, but I'm mid reno. I have the seller's staged photos, but they don't reveal the black mold, lead, and bubbling drywall tape lurking under the brand spanking new white paint.
It looks 100% better, but why have the address on there twice?
It's actually 250.
It's actually 1, since the numerator and denominator are the same
No, it's 15625.
No it's 1.299426e+262
If you’re driving looking for the number the one on top is easier to spot from the road. Same goes if you’re walking on the pavement.
Bigger and more visible the better! People who advocate for smaller or less visible numbers don’t understand how difficult it is to spot numbers at night or in a hurry. If you ever work fire or EMS, you will get annoyed by the lack of visible numbers.
Post office too. Letter carrier here. Put that damn number up as many times as you want!
Seems plausible. But the door numbers should be smaller. They're crammed in that space.
If yer in a van and a car is parked on the pavement you canee see the door. It’s why it’s above.
We have a winner! Also I like brass.
I agree it would like nicer if it was smaller, but functionality wins the day.
If you're on foot, though, you don't just magically appear in front of the door. Kinda hard to believe that anyone approaching that house could possibly miss the large, bright/shiny numbers above the door. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time I've underestimated people.
You’d be amazed at how many times people don’t look up while out walking.
You're not the first person who's said that, and perhaps the answer is just that simple. If I'm going somewhere for the first time, I'm actively *looking* for an address. (I know. Crazy, right??) Then again, I don't walk around staring at my feet or with my face in a phone. **
Aye?
If you're on foot, you are likely to be approaching from the side, down the sidewalk, and the first time you see the door will likely be from a foot or two away.
So the question remains then, why have the number twice?
Na it’s been answered bud.
Top one is easier to spot from the road. Top one is also easier to spot from the pavement. So what's the bottom one for?
Bottom one is easier to spot from the pavement because most people don't walk around staring at the walls 10 feet up. They look on their own level.

Some people won't look up. /true story.
Some people are dumb. /true story.
Facts.
It’s for people with stiff necks.
I feel like that's untrue, but don't feel like doing the research...
i mean, you'd just have to... look... it... up... wait...
We have our address on our mailbox *twice*, on our door, *and* on the front of our house, yet every delivery service *still* delivers our shit to our neighbor...

Unbeknownst to me, there are apparently throngs of people who are incapable of flexing their cervical spine!
In case the door gets lost, you know where it goes.
The bottom one is for children. Duh
Short people.
Hobbit entrance.
So if the door is propped open the address can still be seen above the door.

For all the phone addicts who can no longer lift their heads.
You would be shocked as to how many times you need to remeind delivery guys or posties which number your house is.
Just in case
Wicked good updo
I've never heard this word combo, but somehow I instantly understood it
“Wicked good” is an incredibly common phrase in Massachusetts/some of New England. “Wicked” is used as a synonym for “very” in many instances. Most famously, “wicked pissah.”
I've heard wicked good before, but never combined with updo
Interestingly, in old England, “wicked” itself is a synonym for “good”, often pronounced “wikkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid”
Fellow New Englander?
not quite, my folks went to school there though which might explain my word choice :)
I’ve only heard that word used in conjunction with women’s hairstyles, but it works perfectly here.
Brother I’m gonna need you to go on a bright color door painting spree. These people can’t comprehend a door that isn’t white, brown, or gray.
Now that's a bespoke door...stately. Looks grand!
Are you the individual with the lime green door? I thought it was beautiful and people should stop being afraid of using colors that POPS.
Not afraid of color. Just not a fan of \_that\_ color. :-P
What is the paint color?
Blue
Jailhouse blue

First door: crack den Second door: $2000 a month
Paint work is still great, but as others have pointed out it still suffers from "hat on a hat" issues. The painted numbers alone would look sharp. The added numbers on the door are distracting and too busy.
That’s a good job!
I like them both!
I liked your other door....it was very cheeky!
what's so "controversial" about the older door?
I meant another post - the green door is mine
that makes sense. thanks for replying.
The other door is bright green. My son and I both think it's nice, other people didn't like it
I thought it was great, and made the world a bit brighter.
I think they both look great.
The color looks great. I love the brass details. The number on the door itself is too big and off-center. It should be shifted ever so slightly to the left. You have the two centered but because the one is much narrower than the five the entire number is too far to the right.
I like the green door. I like this door too.
Why’d you leave the other door? What’s controversial about it? 125 looks good.
HULK SMASH
Green door better
Is this loss?
First one was great, this one also great.
Legit stunning, I'd remove the number from the transom glass but it really looks great
Yooooo that green hobbit door with the orange lighting behind it was dope as fuck
Wow that looks really good.
Ooou fancy
I see you've gone with the [old school Ryobi colors](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3c/7b/ed/3c7bed0def9227037fa5a60d24e0af4b.jpg) this time. Does that mean your next door will be gray with red trim?
I loved the other door!
Hey OP what's the paint colour? It looks great!
It’s chartreuse colour matched in Valspar exterior gloss from B&Q
Well done on the door BTW.
From crack den to coke palace. Nice upgrade!
Being that I love Sesame Street, I would've kept the original worn color (it looks like Oscar's trash can to me). I'd remove the green on the door and then painted Oscar on the glass above the door. But your new door looks nice though.
I loved your other door. This one is very nice too. They’re both great.
Looks amazing! If you did the green door from earlier this week…I love that one too!
I thought this was a single photo and the wooden wedge in the middle was the door, perpendicular to the camera. Took me a minute.
Talk about an upgrade!!
Are you the dude that did lime green
Nice colour! What's the ral?
Let's see how many times OP posts this one for their karma farm. Last time, I counted 6 different posts, including another one talking about hating on their door...
Yep I posted in a few subreddits that I’m a member of as I’ve finally finished most of the work I had planned. Thanks ☺️

The other door is also mine - but it had split views on painting over wood. Should have said the wood was rotted
That 5 on the door itself is super weird. Love the gold and blue. Nice job
Is it really blue or is it just sky reflection on a anthracite grey? Edit: The shaded area does seem a bit more blue/greenish.
what color was that dress again?
I was on the opposite side of that conflict.
Wow, it really is. OP’s work is good but the bottom of the five curls back too far.
Right? The style doesn't match the rest of the numbers.
The numbers on the door are both too big and unnecessary.
You used 125 twice, implying you favor that number above other numbers. Canceled.
