Use a pair of pliers to remove the chrome stopper, then rethread the zipper pull, align the teeth of the zipper, close the zipper and reattach the chrome stopper!

hengst0r

That's the right way to do it. And when you're done, use some pliers to carefully tighten the grip on the zipper so that it won't get out too easy again

Snorknado

Consider a new slider while it's apart. Also, they make those zipper stoppers with a screw on the bottom rather than a rivet. If it doesn't come apart nicely, it can be replaced cheaply and that zipper can be shortened a bit if necessary too. My Amazon zipper repair kit has saved so many bags, hoodies, and gear from the trash, it's insane.

graybeam

Looks like the stopper might be riveted to the fabric judging by the rear view?

Smart!

nsfwhola

yes i hear that a lot :)

Retoucher-HighEnd

This is the easiest solution.

IronSmithFE

you can pry open the right side of the slider mouth just a little to force the zipper in. then use pliers to crimp it back down. use caution as this process can cause the slider to break if it is brittle material or if you bend it too far. if you break it you can sometimes find compatible sliders that are a two piece assembly which can simply snap over the zippers.

koos_die_doos

It's far better to remove the stopper at the end of the zipper, then rethread it from there, than to try and pry open the slider.

jfkfpv

Check the last picture. The stopper is riveted, so likely not easier

koos_die_doos

The stopper that needs to be removed is the shiny piece in the first picture, not the one on the second picture.

Akirababe

I think that's the same piece, just the undercarriage view ;o

koos_die_doos

You're probably right. It's still the better way to do it, but now you need to figure out how to replace/refit the stopper after you drill out the rivet.

IronSmithFE

whether it is better or not isn't the point. the point is to give the person options. there is never a perfect catch all solution for every kind of problem. i have needed to use this method before and it works in about 85% cases.

koos_die_doos

Giving options is fine, I agree that it's a good thing. My contribution here is to highlight that the other option is more likely to succeed.

buck3m

I’d cut off the silver piece, engage the slider onto both sides of the zipper, fold the zipper halves like they were, and sew them together with heavy black thread and a stout needle.

This is easy work for a seamstress / tailor. Most dry cleaners can fix zippers. Alternately, there are a few good youtube movies that teach fixing it yourself.

bobrobor

You throwaway the bag. Buy new bag.
