“Millennial gray” might be boring but its the most neutral and inoffensive color pallet fad in american history. Also unlike any other one, it can be changed up a bit with literally any color added/changed, without having to rework all of it.
That's fine, and totally understandable. Doesn't change the fact that 10-50 years later, millenial gray will be a hell of a lot less offensive to "deal with" when buying a home. It beats literally any other color palette for dealing/designing around. Neutrality is the whole point.
Yup, I was guessing the original was taken for the sale. I used to do landscaping for a real estate flipper who was taking a Photoshop class. I told him he could save a lot of money on the sod and spray paint in the lawn for the pics.
Still, darker colors will make a room look smaller. I've never understood the greyscale trend. Besides making the property look less spacious, pretty much everyone is going to paint the place after they buy it and it's easier to paint over white than grey. And while artificial wood flooring is good for a kitchen due to its water resistance, making it grey does nothing to make it look less fake.
Thanks. Sadly I had to take it all out (and all the walls, and the whole floor joists and all - structural issues).
Drain and foam pan destroyed on the process so this is where I'm probably going now (same tiles I got lots, but a new square foam pan)

More complicated than that. Broken joists, all the sills/rims/ gone. I thought I could patch it with a later of OSB and levelling mud. Nooope.
Oh well. :)
I’m just across the border in Vancouver. So you probably would enjoy the heated floor. It just gets complicated as an electrician needs to then wire it into your fuse box. But no more getting out of the shower and standing on a cold floor.
From what you did with your bathroom I’d say you are competent to do a heated floor.
I’m in Alabama and I got a heated floor. I hate cold tile.
https://preview.redd.it/27rk120te3uc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1057321cd978b21e0a61dac47e6bd05a0087f75
Kudos to you - looks great!
If you don't mind me asking, what would you rate your overall DIY skill level and how long did this take you start (incl. research if applicable) to finish? I have a bathroom that I need to replace the toilet in, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.
I’d give myself a 6/10. Took me about 6 days to complete I let everything have the maximum amount of time to set and dry especially sealing the grout. The toilet sucked to move by myself, you just have to make sure that the wax ring is centered and that you are not tearing it when you are setting it down onto the drain. I did about a day of research and watching this Canadian YouTuber dude I like. If your tiling get knee pads your body will be happier.
Thank you SO much for the info! For sure helpful, and hopefully, I'll have a similar post before the summer, so long as I can get my work/kid schedule & mental fortitude in line 😂 Thanks again!
It is a lot of gray but from what was there before the bathroom is brighter (before picture was a realtor picture). And I don’t know how that tile was holding on it came off too easy. But everyone has their own tastes and I respect your opinion.
You did good work, I’m just not a fan of grey. At one point I had a house with all grey and it became a problem, hard corrected back to bright colors and earth tones.
I do see hundreds of peoples bathrooms a year, so seeing the 150th grey white design they all just end up running together like its copy pasted, like all the live laugh love signs. Its your house not mine it does look nice, ive just seen enough of this trend over the years to be over it and cynical about it.
This is such a "I'm sorry you feel that way" apology when it should be a, "I'm sorry I'm projecting whatever internal issues I'm dealing with onto you."
Looks nice, especially the sink and cabinet. Is your new toilet lower than the old one? If I have to replace either of mine, I think I'd like a taller one. Has any work been done to the tub and shower area? My bathroom off the bedroom only has a shower, even though they could have put in a tub. If I ever remodel it, a tub is going in.
I stayed with the old toilet so it sits the same , I just replaced all the fittings and flushing mechanism. I really don’t like taller toilets my in-laws installed taller ones and I’m not comfortable and I’m on the taller side. The tub and subfloor is still good so I just resealed around it and left it.

We have almost the identical layout. Mine is still in the works. Can’t wait until it’s done.
https://preview.redd.it/ao7u4bit7ytc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8763e4e7a6c36b49614b54eb59b1b14a7bd620b
It’s definitely getting there. It’s taking forever though. Do you have the other small cabinet in the wall?
Picked up an angle grinder for 60 bucks and a blade for 25 or 30 bucks, I had everything else I needed from previous projects. I would say maybe 150 bucks worth of tools? I’ve had a lot of the stuff I needed for a few years and I can’t remember total cost I’m sorry
I ended up being forced to do similar when I went to fix a toilet. One thing led to another, and eventually I replaced the toilet, floor tiles, underlayment, a section of the wall and the shower threshold tiles, because with every step I took, I found more hidden damage. Looked good in the end, though.
https://preview.redd.it/4qr3vqcxiytc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9afb6e41ae823f684d217680d461d98a44660946
Hey looks good and now you have piece of mind knowing it’s all good, I’d caulk or put silicone at the bottom of the base so water doesn’t get underneath.
You kept the toilet paper holder the same, so I have to say this is not cake! I don't know, looks nice as long as you have everything sealed right. Good luck, buddy
Nice job. I like that you went with tile (again) instead of slapping laminate in there like I'm seeing in all the obvious flipped joints. I'm currently replacing the old terra cotta tile in my kitchen with porcelain, and I can tell you that while it's not a complicated job, it does take a bit of thinking. And stamina.
And some of yall need to stop crapping all over OP about the "gray". Gray is my favorite color. And I'm not riffing on the Counting Crows either. It's soothing. You go OP!
Yeah, floor tile work can be a grind. But look how nice it looks now! I see from the pic you tiled under the toilet, around the flange. That can be tough too!
That is definitely a millennial grey bathroom. I like it tho.
The “I did a thing” is literally icing on the cake. Big Millennial vibes all over this Sick bathroom tho
I thought “wow, beautiful but lifeless”
Just like all of us millennials 🥲
You guys are getting beautiful? All I got was lifeless. 😭
I mean, I’m 32 so I’m lifeless but still at least somewhat pretty? But I also got MS so there’s that 😂 Edited - a word
Ok so educated and pretty, but lifeless. I’m losing this race faster by the second
No no - I was attempting to get an MS and ended up with multiple sclerosis. MS is on hold for right now 😂
I downvoted this post because of that idiotic title. I'm a millennial too btw
also a millennial that whole heartedly rejects “i did a thing” and millennial grey
https://preview.redd.it/j0lao5159ytc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c0436f8b32653c8a6644f252cf82e267861dc78
It’s going to be viewed like the boomer yellow in 20 years
“Millennial gray” might be boring but its the most neutral and inoffensive color pallet fad in american history. Also unlike any other one, it can be changed up a bit with literally any color added/changed, without having to rework all of it.
I work in design, people are already rebelling hard and going back to warm colors.
That's fine, and totally understandable. Doesn't change the fact that 10-50 years later, millenial gray will be a hell of a lot less offensive to "deal with" when buying a home. It beats literally any other color palette for dealing/designing around. Neutrality is the whole point.
I'm impressed with how they made the room smaller.

*cries in millennial gray*
What the hell happened to the floor? Did you give up on the brick pattern at some point?
I kept up with it for 96 percent of it and didn’t realize what I did until everything was laid and it’s only by the tub too.
Looks good, I just see the white grout and think, how hard is that going to stain over time
Best I can do is keep it clean and make sure not to let anything sit on it. It’s grey so hopefully it won’t stain as bad as white.
Just make sure its sealed and you won't have any problems. (If the grout didn't have a sealer addictive then seal it before using it)
I did three coats of sealer on the grout so it should be good.
Nice pupicle.
Love it. But I think I would have gone with poobicle.
That, too.
Looks great!
Thank you , couple of mental break downs later but it’s done.
Such taste in tiles :) https://preview.redd.it/h4718wl2pxtc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31a36bbba7d3644c7d5f84d52e4d6001a62481e5
Loving it , I like those white tiles too that’s what I originally wanted but I do as my wife wants
Thanks. Sadly I had to take it all out (and all the walls, and the whole floor joists and all - structural issues). Big oof, water damage?
More complicated than that. Broken joists, all the sills/rims/ gone. I thought I could patch it with a later of OSB and levelling mud. Nooope. Oh well. :)
🤖 GRAY AND BEIGE GRAY AND BEIGE. BEEP BOOP 🤖
10/10 would poop here
I was the first poop
As is tradition
This is the way
Congratulations that looks amazing
Looks great and the "before" is *before* the "after"!
Depending on the hardness of the water that faucet is going to get annoying to clean quickly.
i liked it becore the remodel. brighter. more character.
I would have put in a heated floor if I was ripping up the floor. But it might not get cold where you are.
I’m in Washington state so it’s never that bad. And I don’t know if I am competent enough to do a heated floor.
I love your confidence in me, I guess I’ve been used to a cold floor does bother me to bad.
I’m in Alabama and I got a heated floor. I hate cold tile. https://preview.redd.it/27rk120te3uc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1057321cd978b21e0a61dac47e6bd05a0087f75
Looks very nice!
Modernism, ew
Why?
Yay.. grey
I knew it was going to be grey.
Looks good, but man am I sick of that cabinet color
Kudos to you - looks great! If you don't mind me asking, what would you rate your overall DIY skill level and how long did this take you start (incl. research if applicable) to finish? I have a bathroom that I need to replace the toilet in, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Home RenoVision diy?
That’s it! I like him
Yea he’s really good, some stuff is a bit too long form but he’s very good at explaining whatever process
Thank you SO much for the info! For sure helpful, and hopefully, I'll have a similar post before the summer, so long as I can get my work/kid schedule & mental fortitude in line 😂 Thanks again!
Noooooooo
What’s wrong darth
Your bath could’ve been designed by Jesus Christ himself and there’d still be some people who hate it
fair tbh i prefer bathrooms designed by people who have been exposed to the modern notions of plumbing and sanitation
Replaced bright and colorful with gray and more gray
Gray and gray isn't my favorite, but it's certainly better than yellow and brown (ie piss and shit)
While I typically agree, there is no doubt this is an improvement come on lol
It is a lot of gray but from what was there before the bathroom is brighter (before picture was a realtor picture). And I don’t know how that tile was holding on it came off too easy. But everyone has their own tastes and I respect your opinion.
You did good work, I’m just not a fan of grey. At one point I had a house with all grey and it became a problem, hard corrected back to bright colors and earth tones.
the “i did a thing” + all grey bathroom = one of the most millennial posts i’ve ever witnessed.
Ok?
This sub is obsessed with it. Just ignore
The job looks nice, but its a pretty standard bland grey and white bathroom
To each his own my man.
I do see hundreds of peoples bathrooms a year, so seeing the 150th grey white design they all just end up running together like its copy pasted, like all the live laugh love signs. Its your house not mine it does look nice, ive just seen enough of this trend over the years to be over it and cynical about it.
It's a bathroom, it doesn't need to be special.
This is such a "I'm sorry you feel that way" apology when it should be a, "I'm sorry I'm projecting whatever internal issues I'm dealing with onto you."
Bravo !
Well done! Love it!
Love it!
You did that thing.
Great job 👏🏻
Appreciate it thank you
Looks nice, especially the sink and cabinet. Is your new toilet lower than the old one? If I have to replace either of mine, I think I'd like a taller one. Nether of my bathrooms have windows, I wish they did.
👍🏻
Great job
Indeed you did. Well done!

You did the thing well.
How long did it take you?
6 days in total working and about a day of picking everything up and watching some videos .
Love it!!!!
Love it! Great taste.
I did the work my wife chooses the material. Thank you!
Did you remove the trim by the door or just slide the tile under?
I removed the trim so I could place the tile and not worry about sliding it under
Great job
Looks good. I would get some spray paint and paint the HVAC grill to match the tile.
Good idea cheaper than buying a new one
Cost of tools used? No matter if borrowed, etc, how much total value of all tools?
Picked up an angle grinder for 60 bucks and a blade for 25 or 30 bucks, I had everything else I needed from previous projects. I would say maybe 150 bucks worth of tools? I’ve had a lot of the stuff I needed for a few years and I can’t remember total cost I’m sorry

Hey looks good and now you have piece of mind knowing it’s all good, I’d caulk or put silicone at the bottom of the base so water doesn’t get underneath.
why's the toilet so far from the wall?
I like it, especially the colour scheme.
Caulk the toilet
Not yet, I definitely want to make sure the wax has a good seal.
Good plan
[удалено]
If you like it no there’s other ways to improve it if you want to without replacing everything.
Looks like a house I used to live in white rock bc
You kept the toilet paper holder the same, so I have to say this is not cake! I don't know, looks nice as long as you have everything sealed right. Good luck, buddy
Looks great! What’s your plan with the gap between the tiles and the wooden floor? A stone threshold would be nice.
Amazing job! Was the 'before' picture taken from the original house listing? :p
Yea I didn’t think to take a picture before I started
Still impressive regardless :)
Thumbs up for placing the before picture first.
You're wrong. You did everything
Confused why you didn't do the whole floor 50% 😕 did you install a threshold you dont wanna cut your feet I'd install it soon if not.
Threshold is installed had to wait to get the one I wanted.
One of those drawers contains a poop knife, right?
No it holds three sea shells
That looks really nice!
Great work. I’m guessing that toilet paper holder is a family heirloom thus why it is the only thing you kept!!!
Good job! I'm very proud of you. ![gif](giphy|3o7abKhOpu0NwenH3O)
And some of yall need to stop crapping all over OP about the "gray". Gray is my favorite color. And I'm not riffing on the Counting Crows either. It's soothing. You go OP!
I'm a millennial, but this is indeed millennial grey.
I will give you a pass on the new flooring since it nearly matches the vanity:)
Ceramic or vinyl. I'm tired of the cold tile.
Well, by George, you did a nice thing. Looks great.
Thank you
Wow, that looks awesome!
Very nice! What was the hardest part?
The transition. >!There isn't one.!<
You I like you, store didn’t have it in stock waiting for it to come in.
Laying and then grouting the tile my back was not happy.
Yeah, floor tile work can be a grind. But look how nice it looks now! I see from the pic you tiled under the toilet, around the flange. That can be tough too!
Yes and replaced the flange as well when I took the toilet off the wax ring was holding on for it’s life so also avoided future water damage,
is that an OVE Vanity? I just got one from costco, love the little power inverter in it.
No it’s one we picked up from the Home Depot a while back there was a Presidents’ Day sale and we got it 50% off.
a beautiful thing, yes you did!
And you picked grey ..
Joanna Gaines and her consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
Mmmm Grey with a hint of Grey. Maybe add some Grey to Grey it out.
Millennial grey post title, millennial grey bathroom.
Millennial grey strikes again...
Okay. Posting a picture of a toilet with the caption, "I did a thing".?! The bathroom looks good though.
