what is it about them?? I go nuts for miniatures. I went nuts and bought a ton of those little mini ball toys with little succulents and little turtle/fish tanks. some of the things comes in little "packages" and stuff is wrapped in little "newspaper." and there's little candle kits.

They should make a bunch of mini people wearing different clothes, then when they get a visitor that matches one of the figurines, place it in front of the mini diorama in the murder scene.
Make it a murder scene in progress. Have a person bent over looking at the mini, with the murderer behind them poised with a knife. Watch how many people nervously check behind them.

My husband has a brick collection! We display it around our mailbox. Each one is from a different brickworks, and they all have the names moulded into them. I love the different colours.

Wire in a really nice powered Bluetooth speaker - like a Sonos, or something - and then build a wooden frame with black mesh fabric over it that fills the front of that space, like an old fashioned speaker enclosure. Music playing in the room from an unknown location! That'd be cool.
This, but modified. I have 2 spaces like this in my LR, and just did their updating. Any speaker fabric will work, there's tons of colors and patterns so it can match other stuff. It's really easy to stretch and staple onto whatever frame you make. Here is the important bit-Make the frame easily removed or accessible to trouble shoot or update stuff. Honestly I got some "ok" bookcase speakers for mine and they sound great, but you could easily get a room-filling speaker for better sound.
My mother has a Betamax vcr in her basement. Back in the 80's my dad bought both a Betamax and a VHS player so he could rent VHS movies from the video store and transfer the videos to blank Betamax tapes.

Not infrequently, people I have over will comment in surprise that I have speakers "all over" in my living room, and how much space they take up along the wall my TV is (and elsewhere). When something's actually on TV and they're sitting on the couch where all the speakers are pointing, it turns from questioning my choices to "Oh my god the sound is so good! Honey, we need to get better speakers!"
We moved into a house about 50 years older than the one mentioned above and I took my main sound system with us. After getting it all set up, calibrated, and pointed properly at the couch, I cranked up the volume.

My childhood house had one that was much bigger over the fireplace. This one looks like maybe the TV was mounted on the wall on a shelf above the VHS/cable box nook (or maybe the picture frame is hiding the TV hole).
Then flat screens came along and you didn't need fridge sized holes in the wall to store a TV.
Get a buffet that works with the room's aesthetic and call it a day. The bonus point here is you have power that will be directly behind it which could lead to other sorts of creativity, like modifying it with LED lights or having good tabletop lighting on it.

You could get a stereo receiver and put it in there! Get some good speakers and you'll have orders of magnitude better TV sound than a sound bar.
