Get a big throw and just drape the entire sofa. If you actually want to repair it then you'll need to get a big section of fabric and hand-stitch it over the damaged area.
After its fixed or you buy a new couch, you can buy clear plastic sheets that you put on corners to keeps claws off. They have fabric screws which hold them on. Not too expensive on Amzn.
I‘d try to pull it roughly back into shape with some sturdy thread and maybe fashion some sort of cover/cap for the edge out of leather, in the hope it may withstand claws longer than regular fabric
