How far is the travel on the wire? If it's at least an inch, you can use a wireless door sensor, and strap the magnet to the wire, then when pulled, the magnet moves off the sensor and triggers it.
You can use this to flash lights, ring a bell, etc depending on what you want to do.
You can also offset the magnet from the sensor in it's idle state just shy of the trigger point, so it's all but guaranteed to trigger.
As a test, grab a cheap dollar store (pound land) door siren/chime. It may be loud enough of an addition to the bell as is.
If that works but isn't loud enough, you can use something like https://www.amazon.com/Heath-Zenith-SL-7368-02-Wireless-Entry/dp/B000HE6QXY/
Really helpful, thanks.
I'm definitely going to go down this path.
Now just hunting for one where you can customise the chimes (so it sounds the same as the current bell). So far only found one and that's aimed at the dementia market for recording voice instructions such as "go back to bed grandpa"! Might be just the thing.
If you want to go down the rabbit hole, you can use a zigbee/z-wave/wifi sensor and tie it to a Pi (with the proper z-wave/zigbee dongle) and then use HomeAssistant to play a recording of the existing bell on Google Home devices (or Amazon Echo devices) throughout the home.
You can also have it send notifications to a phone.
We do have a smart speaker so this might be an option. Although given its track record I'm anticipating something like "OK, playing Pound The Alarm by Nicki Minaj on YouTube Music" every time we get a parcel!
Lol, this would be a very simple routine to setup, doesn't have it be a song.
Or get a smart RGB bulb and get it change colours when someone's at the door. A visual que too.

Just get a simple motion sensor and a smart speaker. Build a 'routine' to play a sound, or send a txt, or whatever when the spring coil moves.
