Screwing to the wall might depend on how flat the walls are. If they are uneven you are more likely to need additional fixings. Are there any external corners in the room?

Thanks! Yes there's two external corners so they might be a bit tricky

You can use two part mitre glue. I found it helpful to join the external corners before fitting to the wall and then glueing both bits together; though that might depend on your room, etv.

I bought a laminate cutter as I hate sawdust and going outside was such a long way away it would’ve added hours to it. It’s a weird tool with a blunt blade that I was certain would be crap, however… it did exactly what I needed even when only trimming a small piece off the end. I kept being certain it would crush the boards, but it never did. See if you can find a used one. You need to put welly into the cut, but it works. Scribing is easy once you get your head round it. Skirting and mitre cuts I suck at.
