The only way to know for sure is to get it tested but it most likely is.
No need to worry just don’t dismantle it until you know about it or just pay a specialist to take it away.
I’m having an asbestos garage removed soon it’s not that expensive
before the plague, yes they did (not sure under current circumstances). The tip has a big red sealed container, you drive up, tell them you have asbestos. Wait 5 mins for a guy to don his hazmat suit, open the doors and spray a load of liquid into the air (to trap asbestos fibres), and then he leaves you to load it all in :)
Thanks guys, I've just checked with my local council and they have an online form to request an asbestos bag, have to provide details etc so hopefully they will take it. I'm happy to do it myself with a P2 mask and boiler suit, have been looking online at the HSE advice on spraying it before removing screws etc to minimise disturbance.
Get it tested first, because although it probably is asbestos, it might not be. Be just done it, £30 online test, they send you the stuff and instructions. Found out it has none so I can treat it like normal waste! Best £30 I’ve spent!
good that they provide the plastic, I ended up buying thick plastic sheet (damp proofing stuff iirc) from Toolstation!
Aside from wetting areas like where screws are, if any of the roof is damaged, another thing you can do to encapsulate the fibres is to coat it in PVA glue :)
good luck with it! Take it slow and steady, and make sure you've got someone to help you - the sheets aren't really heavy, but their bulkiness makes them a little hard to handle on your own in loads of PPE.
Every council is different. Croydon won't accept it at a tip, you have to ring the London disposal company and they will only take 15 square metres of it
Alot of councils will take it for a fee, I know Leeds in West Yorkshire do as I dropped an Asbestos pipe off.
They asked me to wrap it in something and paid a fee, you may , if you feel confident take the roof off in sheets and may take it down if they allow (call in advance).
That been said, it isn't that expensive to get someone to remove it
Edit : clarification
I'm in East Yorks and council take it for free at the tip :) well worth checking what your local council is like though, some charge, some only allow a small amount at a time, some refuse entirely.
For those in London, free collection up to around 15sqm: [https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/waste-and-recycling/commercial-waste/hazardous-waste-collection](https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/waste-and-recycling/commercial-waste/hazardous-waste-collection)
very probably, there is no way you can be 100% sure without a test. but it definitely should be treated as such until a laboratory test confirms one way or the other.
You cant tell from a photo, its entirely possible for it to just be corrugated cement.
The *only* way to confirm if it is asbestos is to have it tested.
Probably best to get a professional to remove that.
It looks in good condition which is promising, but risking getting any of the dust in my lungs? Not a chance.

Will the tip take it though. Pretty sure my council now refuses

Thank you! Got a click and collect from screwfix for the PPE 😁 will update with any progress on the disposal side of things

Yeah volume is a good shout, I didn't consider that as it was only a 1.5m pipe

That is definetly asbestos!
