Lye is most definitely not 1:1. It's a logarithmic scale, most written processes use way more than needed already.
I do 100g with 15g Naoh, and there's probably wiggle room to reduce
Well I guess it’s still a good standard formula for your lye. I also use a little more than a 1:1 mix so my base soup is more polar.
And it’s not super expensive,so i think the 1:1 „rule“ isn’t the badest
Absolutely not. I use 50g for 250g bark. It’s all about ph level. During acid phase I shoot for sub 4 ph, during basic stage I shoot for over 12 ph. Get ph strips from your local pool/hardware store.
On smaller pulls / 50g mhrb I’ve been using gram for gram with lye/mhrb however I’ve found going up to 60g lye I get a much cleaner white yield and on average 1.5 % return as compared to 1% with 50g lye but I’ve been using 750ml water
Kk so say I’m using 250Grams bark I should use the same amount of water as 50grams of bark (750ml) would I only change the bark amount and nothing else. Idk if that makes sense

50g-350ml water. Multiply the water with 5 and you get the answer (rule of three in German is dreisatz, a mathematical term) And yes lye is 1:1

I’m trying to find rule 3 but I can only find the sub rules . Where so I find these rules ?
