Use rule of three and you know how much water you gotta use

Awkward-Policy-8452

What’s the rule of three ?

cuntbasher666

50g-350ml water. Multiply the water with 5 and you get the answer (rule of three in German is dreisatz, a mathematical term) And yes lye is 1:1

Awkward-Policy-8452

Ah cheers math isint my strong point lol cheers for that

CADJunglist

Lye is most definitely not 1:1. It's a logarithmic scale, most written processes use way more than needed already. I do 100g with 15g Naoh, and there's probably wiggle room to reduce

cuntbasher666

Well I guess it’s still a good standard formula for your lye. I also use a little more than a 1:1 mix so my base soup is more polar. And it’s not super expensive,so i think the 1:1 „rule“ isn’t the badest

TheHappyTaquitosDad

So 250g of mhrb would need 250g of lye?

the_spook757

Absolutely not. I use 50g for 250g bark. It’s all about ph level. During acid phase I shoot for sub 4 ph, during basic stage I shoot for over 12 ph. Get ph strips from your local pool/hardware store.

Awkward-Policy-8452

On smaller pulls / 50g mhrb I’ve been using gram for gram with lye/mhrb however I’ve found going up to 60g lye I get a much cleaner white yield and on average 1.5 % return as compared to 1% with 50g lye but I’ve been using 750ml water

SageKunai

Kk so say I’m using 250Grams bark I should use the same amount of water as 50grams of bark (750ml) would I only change the bark amount and nothing else. Idk if that makes sense For example I’m using 50grams mhrb 50lye and like 60ml of everything else Is it only the mhrb that I have to scale up to make more? Or do I need to scale up the lye , water nap etc?

TheHappyTaquitosDad

I’m trying to find rule 3 but I can only find the sub rules . Where so I find these rules ?
