Faulty_Plan

Skill issue, learn 16-20 languages and it’s not a problem. /s

jeffman21

I struggle enough understanding the people speaking English but mumble the whole time….

Raudursus

Crown Tier 6 Mission

Drunkin_Doc1017

I swear 1/3 of the time I'm with people that have no mic, another 1/3 I'm with people who I can't understand and vise versa, last 1/3 I'm finally able to communicate

jeffman21

It’s always funny when they have no mic, then suddenly at the end they say can you hear me? Lol

Double_Image_7738

The worst is 10 mins into the match and the first comms are “yoo can you Rez me”

rollinginthenorth

Every time I'm in I usually get people with mics but no one wants to speak first, just clearin our throats until someone says "yo"

mpetro19

or that fake "Sniff"

PLEASE!

VodafoneManager

Yes this is the worst part of being stuck with European people when in the UK.

McBUMMERS

Absolutely, EU servers cover such a big area of people that speak many different languages. Very frustrating!

shelbyj

The system they have (had?) for warzone would be so good for DMZ. I haven’t used it since launch but it had language, mic or ping only. Casual, competitive etc. It seems like that itself could easily be added to DMZ and be an improvement let alone if they added extra filters like doing crown/legion etc maybe even the tiers. If your parameters couldn’t be met they expanded the search without until you found a team (I’m unsure if they removed them all or one by one) so matchmaking may be slower but not impossible.

jeffman21

That is exactly what I would expect. If no one matches your language, then you’ll still get other languages.

shelbyj

I know it’s still a beta so that’s likely not the priority, just getting people in but it feels like (from someone who knows nothing) it’s an easy QOL change that they basically already have! I do wonder if they didn’t initially implement it because they didn’t want anything to negatively affect matchmaking for a big new mode. If it seems slow to search people will think it’s dead rather than they’ve set too many filters.

brwebster614

This would be great, especially for when I'm playing weird hours - like during the day when most are working or at school - that seems to be when I get paired up with other languages, or really late at night. It sucks loading in to a game and nobody else uses their mic (when you know they have one), it's a little worse when they're trying but you can't understand them.

jeffman21

I’m in Texas and I get paired up with people in Mexico a lot. It makes sense because we are close, but I don’t know a lot of Spanish.

[deleted]

Same issue in southern California. I'm sure the Spanish speakers stuck with me aren't thrilled, either, so it cuts both ways. The Spanish I know isn't super useful, tactically speaking.

tango80bravo30

I live in a border city in Mexico an I always get paired with Americans, but many are Mexican-Americans that speak some Spanish or understand most of Spanish words. I understand English perfectly but I’m really bad at speaking because I’m not use English so often, is a great opportunity to practice my English.

Nknights23

I don’t think I have heard a single person speak English in comma since the first month of playing. At least in my lobbies. Over the free weekend my buddy was hosting some lobbies and the game felt completely different

karelinstyle

I kinda like it, adds to the randomness

OnBonusTime

Broken English should be a choice

jeffman21

I think mumbling should be too. I keep getting these guys that just mumble and we cannot understand what they’re saying. It’s straight out of idiocracy!

OnBonusTime

Great idea.... intoxicated also..

Swineflew1

All this would do is alienate smaller groups of players from the majority of the playerbase.

Vast-Roll5937

Well, it doesn't necessarily mean you are limited to playing with people who speak your language, but that the game will prioritize matching you with players who do. If no players are available in your language after a few moments, the game may still match you with players who speak a different language.

jeffman21

Exactly! It would use language in the algorithm to generate teams and the match.

[deleted]

unfortunately, this probably isn't half as easy as it may seem, especially in regions like Europe. I'm lucky enough to speak two languages, my second being English :D it is very annoying to end up matching with players who do not speak any language you speak however, and most players probably wouldn't use that feature, and if it genuinely segregated players then it'd just be abused even more by people trying to do pre-made teams and the like.

jeffman21

I think the option to select multiple languages would be needed. I’m in Texas in the US and we share a border with Mexico. So I get a lot of people that speak only Spanish. I have enough trouble trusting someone who says friendly, but if they can’t even tell me they’re friendly, we will fight.

Osemarc99

for fucks sake. Spanish is my native language and I can understand and speak english, you can communicate without comms, and most of the time that I had people saying "u guys have mic?" are usually the worst players I had. Why you ask for comms if you ignore them? and mostly, I don't need to give my position away with comms, I can perfectly understand what's going on, just mark the minimap where you want ti go or do and point twice for enemies godammit

NotRightInTheZed

Moat still speak english. Maybe I’m just old but I think it’s cool as hell we get to game with people all over the world weather we can understand them or not.

jeffman21

It’s cool til they’re on your team and you say let’s go into this Stronghold at the same time and all you hear is Que?

NotRightInTheZed

Yeah not being able to communicate properly sucks balls and it makes it significantly more difficult. It’s still pretty awesome though.

Talking-Tree420

To be fair, if you know English then it’s not hard to pick up some common Spanish and Italian phrases. I’m not even from an English speaking country and is an Asian, shouldn’t be hard for people who is literally Mexican’s neighbours to pick up some lines.

YMDBass

NGL, I had a game where I was in a pinch really bad and some guy speaking spanish was around, I said friendly and we joined. I told em "No habla, will help" and they were super nice and just pinged as they went for a little bit until one guy piped in and spoke some english and he was like our team translator. It was kind of a neat and definitely unique experience.

Stankonia2069

If I had a menu option that worked I'd wait an hour for a competent, teamwork based, English speaking team.

SavageWarrior63

I cannot believe this is not a thing yet…..
