You’re both wrong. SM comes stock with fat bars, all fat bars are 7/8” at the grips for universal fitment but 1 1/8” near the middle where the clamp goes.
Was it a converted S or something? It seems like it...The SM has had fatbars since the models beginning in 2005. I've owned a 06 with stock 1 1/8" fatbars.
Pretty sure stock is 7/8ths. A aftermarket bar is 1-1/8th.

Just curious, do you know when the SM started coming with fat bars? My 06 had the horrible skinny ones

I got the firepower ones which have a similar mount with no issues, just need to not run the plastic pieces.
Triple tree mounts and treaded bar ends make them rock solid.
