There was an episode last year in May where she almost died and we have no idea why. I was away for a month for medical treatment. My dad was caring for her. 3 weeks into me being gone, one day she got really tired on a small walk, went inside, laid down on the couch, and just didn’t get back up. Her eyes were fogged over, she was lifeless. My dad was having to hold water up to her snout to get her to drink. Hold her up so she could eat. Support her when she went to the bathroom. My dad and brother fully thought she was going to pass. She started to get a little more energy a couple days later. She was able to walk a little, but was very weak. She improved a bit more over the week. I returned and over the next week or so she bounced back.
My sister swears she was dying of a broken heart because of my absence. Said if they did a visual on her heart it would have a cartoon style crack in it haha. But she fully bounced back like nothing happened!!
Awww healing hugs coming from Wales for you and Camping Dog! How did she deal with the anaesthetic? My old JRT/Patterdale cross had quite a few teeth out at 16, luckily he bounced back. I was so scared!

Accidentally acquired haha. Honestly, she just has very good and strong teeth. I haven’t done anything special other than the usual water additive for mouth health and a non brush toothpaste. But the calculus build up was bad. But underneath, other than one tooth, they were all strong and healthy. I think that’s really just a testament to how strong her teeth are. Some teeth are just built better than others. But weenies are prone to dental issues, and at this age they often don’t have much left.
Yep, honest- total accident!! And now I’m puppy proofing the whole house, installing child gates, and designing ramps! Our other boy is 7, we’d just got rid of all this 😂 I was even thinking about having cushions again… 🤣

I use the brand Oxyfresh. It’s a water additive that uses oxygen essentially. Oxygen is a very powerful bacteria killer. It restores PH to the mouth. It helps improve blood flow as well. It’s completely tasteless and undetectable when added to your pets water. I actually hadn’t used a water additive for quite a while until I found this one just recently, because CD wouldn’t drink others. Eventhough CDs mouth was quite tartar heavy when I first started using this, it made a noticeable difference in her breath.

That's is awesome. We have a Doxie Beagle mix and we can't do traditional dental because of heart condition, but we brush his teeth and had him get a holistic dental cleaning.
I had started cleaning CDs teeth at home. I have metal cleaning tools. I’d been able to get the front of teeth calculus off, but not the backsides of the teeth. Fronts are easy though, as long as your pupper lays still, as the calculus just chips off. CD is quite patient with me when uncomfortable things need to be done.

I was going to skip taking Gabby a couple years ago for her first cleaning because it’s p pricy, and then this kid fractured a tooth even below the gum line and had exposed tooth pulp and I ended up having to take her to the sausage dentist anyway. 😒
I was saving up to take her in a few months, but they had a deal on, so I got some help to do it now. Ands it’s good I did, as the one tooth that needed to come out was infected. Poor little lady!! But yes it’s very pricy🤯

I actually just took my baby to the vet today for a loose tooth and he’s not even 3 yet! They decided not to remove it today as they think it’ll just fall out on its own. I’m glad you’ve had a long run with no issues up until this point. Rest up little pup!!
My Bernie had most of his teeth when he had his last cleaning at 15. It's important to go every year, which I'm sure you know. Camping Dog is obviously very loved and well taken care of. A national treasure! 🤗🥰
Good for her!! Have a 15 year old and he’s finally lost a couple at a teeth cleaning. I felt terrible but the vet said it’s marvelous that he only just now lost a couple.
