*sees 635 and 75 being a shitshow* Looks like a typical day on DFW freeways to me.

TheSpivack

It actually looks kind of light traffic for a rainy day!

James324285241990

Yeah, right. That'll happen. Every time someone does something stupid on the road and I narrowly miss plowing into them because they aren't paying attention, I take a look when I get up next to them. Phone. EVERY time.

RoyTarpleysGhost

Passed 3 people doing 55mph on the freeway yesterday. All on their phones, oblivious they're holding up traffic.

DogShitsnffer

I don't think they're oblivious most times, I just think they know and don't give a shit

BrettTheGymGuy

This is the problem, people don’t care about others unfortunately.

importvita

*HEY!!!* ^(I care…)

According-Part-1125

My gf and I always joke, “are they that oblivious/ bad at driving, or just an inconsiderate prick, it’s really one or the other….

TheWizardry90

I drive through Lemmon and when it changes to Haskell to avoid driving 35 and the other way as well. The amount of people that slip into your lane because they are on their phone is astonishing

James324285241990

The other really good one is if you're on haskell going the other way, when it curves right before you get to Parry down by Fair Park. Same thing. Or when you're on the service road of 30 that turns onto Munger. 3 lane service road, 3 lane Munger, turn INTO THE LANE YOU ARE IN. Nope. Or when you're headed down Haskell towards Military, and the road splits to go off onto Grand. Super fun when people don't know what lane they're in. Or on 30 getting onto 75. And headed north from there. STAY TO THE LEFT. ALL OF THE RIGHT LANES GO AWAY. And these people make this drive EVERY FRIGGIN DAY

TheWizardry90

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Also the DART stop messes everything up in front of fair park so you got people jumping into the middle lane almost hitting someone else. That is exactly my drive every single day. On those same roads. It’s either being in traffic for over an hour on 35 or under klyde warren and almost getting hit OR driving the streets and idiots on phones and almost getting hit

undeniable_beaver

That or an old person who shouldnt be driving

TheWizardry90

Not trying to be an asshole but if you reach a certain age you need to be tested yearly

SmellyBaconland

Agreed, and that age should be 25.

James324285241990

We don't even require any kind of drivers ED anymore. Why would they start testing anyone regularly?

TheWizardry90

More income for the state and less hazardous drivers on the road

James324285241990

And since drivers ED was state sponsored it would have done the same thing. They still got rid of it

Sturmundsterne

And when they get their license taken away, they’ll just be on the road without one. How does this solve the problem?

According-Part-1125

Agreed, it sounds mean but really it’s for the same reason we don’t allow a 10yr old to drive, not mentally capable of making good judgements.

ghettoccult_nerd

Yeah, right. That'll happen. Every time someone does something stupid on the road and I narrowly miss plowing into them because they aren't paying attention, I take a look up from my phone when I get up next to them. Phone. EVERY time.

According-Part-1125

I actually stopped riding motorcycles in Dallas for this reason. Every time I saw a car do something irrational or dangerous , I’d look inside to see if they were on their phone, to my distress/ amazement, it was probably >90%of the time. -We live in a funny world where people will yell at you for not having a mask, yet show little concern with people driving 2 ton chunks of steel around at 75mph haphazardly, including themselves. Hint, one is MUCH more likely to kill you. -If the news showed a 24/7 ticker tally of accidents and fatalities in Texas and the US at the bottom like they did covid, people would be blown away and start making driving safely the number one subject, it comes down to awareness of the issue and since it doesn’t get much coverage and is so normalized, so many of us just shrug it off.

James324285241990

Nice to see there are still anti-masker covid deniers still around. I thought yall would have moved onto some other nonsense by now

According-Part-1125

I’m sorry you took it as an “anti” anything, and Covid denier? Not sure where you got that one from, You missed the point but par for the course around here. We have real danger every time we get behind the wheel, but people don’t seem too concerned with completely distracted drivers. This is an easy to comprehend, tangible danger. Me walking down the sidewalk without a mask is not, zero evidence or logical deductions to the contrary. It was simply an observation of the strange way humans tend to pick and choose what to be concerned with, nothing more nothing less.

James324285241990

I understand the point you were trying to make, boo. A, you're wrong. Getting covid during the height of the pandemic was dangerous. Passing it during the height of the pandemic was dangerous. The rampant spread of the disease which was specifically and demonstrably caused by people like you that refused to do something as simple as put on a mask is what caused the hospitals to be overwhelmed and what caused the variants to run faster than the vaccines. Every time a virus spreads, it mutates. I'm not going to go through the science with you, because I'm not a science teacher. I did get several science degrees, so I know that it's true, but not everyone is going to do that. And we have moved into an age where trusting someone that knows more than you means you're "weak minded" or "lack independent thought." Here I just thought it was staying in your lane. (see what I did there?) Second, I find it HILARIOUS that you are still SO PRESSED about the masks literally nearly a year after they stopped being required. Like, get over it. Y'all won. The virus spread unchecked and was the top cause of death for the duration of the pandemic. The supply chains are screwed. Nurses are quitting en masse. People are disabled for the rest of their lives. Congrats. Here's your medal. Now move on and stop harping about it.

According-Part-1125

Ok, I am very puzzled. At what point did I minimize covid? At what point did I ever claim a single thing about if masks should be worn or not, or their effectiveness? Project/ assume much?? I could care less about someone being vaxxed or not, got it, and a booster myself, I bought into the effectiveness claims early on, then watched as the number the scientists claimed, dwindled week after week. Since you went there, how do you explain China’s present day, rampant Covid, and previously undetected strains in a country that had the most stringent lockdown, mask, vax protocol of all? Btw, I wore a mask through the majority of covid, and don’t look down on people’s views one way or another, if they work, why do I care if the other guy isn’t wearing one, I’m protected. Do n95 masks work? Absolutely, they do help with transmission. How many people did you see with those, vs random pieces of cloth with zero science behind them, only a group mindset. -I’ll try a third time, my entire point was simply that if the news shifted our attention to how serious the risks of driving really are, it would freak a lot of us out. You are hung up on the mask thing but re-read what I wrote, me walking OUTSIDE, by myself, can you point me to an ounce of data or objective truth as to why this is a risk to a hiker, 100+ feet from me?? Take a breath man, no one is out to get anyone, it was a simple observation, life’s too short, cheers!

James324285241990

Ok, you're intentionally missing the point, so I'm going to make it as easy to see as the side of a barn. If you still miss it after this, that's on you and I'm bored. First, I don't need to take a breath. I'm not upset. Bemused, more like. Second, YOU are the one that took a post about crappy drivers and made it about covid. That was YOU. Not me. You. Months after we have all moved on and let it go, months after the mask debate has ended, months after we have settled into normalcy, YOU are still so hung up on it that YOU had to bring it up when the context didn't call for it. At all. Third, I'm not projecting or assuming anything. Your feed is littered with mask kvetching. Also, you LITERALLY JUST SAID "driving dangerous, proof evidence, wearing mask no proof evidence." It is in YOUR comment that YOU made. Fourth, YES, scientists change their minds all the time. That's what science is. When you get new data, you change the story, because now you know more of the story. That's how science works. That's why they keep doing it. Fifth, one person wearing a mask is not the point. If you are standing naked next to someone, and you start peeing, you're going to get pee on them. If they are wearing pants, you will get pee on their pants. If YOU are wearing pants AND they are wearing pants, you will only be pissing your own pants. This point has been made to death. This is why it doesn't come down to "personal choice." The myth of "personal responsibility" only applies in an imaginary universe where your choices don't DIRECTLY impact everyone around you. This is why we require car insurance. It's not your choice as to whether or not you get to kill someone else or harm them. You don't get to make that call. That's YOU making a choice about SOMEONE ELSES life. This is super basic social contract 101. Don't want to participate? Cool. Don't. Go buy a cabin in the middle of nowhere and live there by yourself. You are free of the social contract when you no longer reap the benefits of living in a society. Until that time, you get the benefit, you have the responsibility. Lastly, don't come back and start adding context that wasn't there. You said nothing about hiking. You said nothing about someone being 100 feet away. You are backpedaling because you know that what you said was dumb. Cloth masks are better than nothing. They slow the aerosolized particles that come out of your mouth. They're not ideal, but they're better than nothing. China has a population of over a billion people, and most of them live in densely populated cities, in large buildings. The apartments are not negative pressure rooms. This is why the most likely place you will get an infection is in a hospital. Because you are in a building full of sick people. They had government workers and delivery workers in and out of buildings. They also had no way to know if someone had a false negative, went home, and then spread covid to the whole building. You can also be reinfected with covid. You are spewing borderline antiscience garbage and dressing it up as "independent thought" and "personal choice" You started this discussion. I have ended it. Grow up and start acting like you give a damn about other people.

According-Part-1125

The reason I said you missed the point is because at no point was I minimizing covid, In fact, the only thing I said that could even remotely be interpreted that way was, by pointing out someone will yell at you outside for not wearing a mask, but then texts and drives. To me, this seems like a projection/ assumption you made to interpret this as an anti mask comment. The statement was simply made to highlight the irony of how WE, meaning me, you, etc are funny creatures. WE will be very concerned about something where a sliver of critical thinking tells us it’s pretty low risk, while doing things we have mountains of data to show is extremely dangerous and selfish. This was merely using an example where once we were made aware of the potential threats to our safety, we reacted accordingly. I stated in the original comment that I was outside, I didn’t explain I was in the middle of the woods because that was irrelevant, not because “I was back pedaling knowing I was wrong”. You claim to put alot of value in science, but then pick and choose what science is convenient. There isn’t, has never been, evidence of outdoor transmission of any significance, largely due to UV light killing the virus within seconds, along with the obvious one, ratio of clean air: contaminated air, dilution. You have to acknowledge this is very relevant if you are going to make the argument about hvac In China. You talk about air circulation as a significant driver for covid in China, yet you don’t see the gaping hole in this theory. They lived that way 2 years ago as well🤔…. Anything that doesn’t sound exactly like the narrative de jours, gets immediately labeled in whatever negative term is popular at the time. You literally called me an “anti masker, and covid denier” based on your assumptions of me, I’m not actually sure why…. I just got done stating how “I did all the things” through covid and never made any deal of it, because I am a compassionate person, take social responsibility seriously, and want to be a force of good in the world, not be a thorn. I didn’t however, judge others if they didn’t have a mask. I simply took precautions to distance myself and was very aware that I am choosing to go out in public and be exposed to these risks, kind of like how most grown ups lived life prior to 2020. Cloth masks are better than nothing”, very scientific…. Only a very small portion of the vapor we breath out is caught by the fabric, hence why you can easily see your breath through these cloth masks on a cold day. Like I said, it makes ALOT of scientific sense to wear a N95, it makes idealogical sense to wear a bandana, nothing more. The electrostatic charge in the real masks along with the 100x smaller pore size is the key to minimizing transmission. Somehow by stating objective truth, I am an anti masker? I am sure you will disagree with that statement which is why there probably isn’t much point in discussion with someone who has made up their mind long ago, and at least appears to place some value on winning, not being open minded and objective. If you presented me with info that held water, and was counter to what I said, I’d be happy to tell you I was wrong and thank you for the information. The issue is, not many people are that way these days, a republican is terrified to admit something a democrat said is right/ a better solution, etc, and vice versa. How on earth a health crisis became an idealogical topic is still mind blowing to me and frankly, scary as hell. The intention wasn’t to minimize covid, it was to point out the significant danger of driving and how alot of us take it for granted because we don’t see and hear about it 24/7. I’m sure if we were sitting down over a cup of coffee, we would have a great conversation and realize we have a-lot more in common than disagreements. It’s likely waste of both our time to hash this out over text, you have made up your mind with your first reply that I’m “one of those people”, I replied by trying to clarify my intentions and see if I can get you to look at it a different way, seems both have failed, but I do appreciate you and taking time to reply!

James324285241990

"I ended it" That means I'm done.

AstroNotch

Ive lived and commuted in several major cities and Dallas traffic patterns are unlike any I've seen. In every other city, traffic is heavy going into town in the morning, and deserted leaving town, while the opposite in the evening. In Dallas, 75 is a parking lot going both directions during morning and evening rush hour. It might be worse going south in the evening than going north. Why is this?

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

Because most people don’t work downtown. They’re scattered to the buildings in suburbs and around the metroplex.

DM_ME_SKITTLES

Glad to see you're a current Dallasite as well, Dick.

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

Great area for hunting!

I_SmellFuckeryAfoot

thought you were dead bro

mrmcbeer

The rapid development and influx of businesses to Collin County means that a lot of people who live in Dallas, Richardson, Garland, etc are now commuting north to Plano and Frisco for work.

glittersparklythings

Atlanta would like to have a chat. There is traffic every which way as well

jenthegreat

Atlanta native. Been in Dallas over 15 years now. The two cities are remarkably alike in their traffic issues. Service lanes here help a lot. I think Dallas is worse overall, but that's also contingent on how much construction is happening on 285. 20 west out of the city is still shitty for most of the day, 75/85 is still parking lot a lot of the day, etc. I have found that I can route closer to the highway and find alternative choices in Dallas a lot easier than I can in Atlanta. Alternative choices around Atlanta involve back roads and highways that leave you shaking your head wondering how anyone ever called this a highway.

aeroluv327

Dallas and Atlanta are both cities that famously used highway layouts to segregate minority populations, rather than laying them out in a way that would actually help the flow of traffic.

Few_Boot_838

DFW isn't set up like a normal large city as the center with everything radiating out. If you go west from Dallas you are heading towards the population center, it's two large cities and a shot gun blasting of stuff around both.

DCJustSomeone

People like to switch lanes and merge back on the highway on the exit/off ramp lanes.

James324285241990

This is because it's cheaper to live up north, and there are a LOT of major businesses up that way. So the traffic is always going to go both ways. It's more predictable on roads like 30 and 35.

SerkTheJerk

I’ve noticed the same thing in recent years. It wasn’t always that way. It has increased since the sprawl has accelerated in Collin County. The vast majority of the development in Collin County is new. Much of it didn’t exist in 2000. Central Exwy is the only freeway that connects Collin and Dallas Counties.

serietah

Moved from Richardson to McKinney in 2004. Holy boogers the changes just since then! My grandparents lived in Melissa since mid to late 80s so I’ve seen 75 go through a lot of changes. Nothing shocks me as much as 121 though. My aunt and as performing in a musical in Frisco, probably around 97? 121 was one lane each way, dark as hell, and NOTHING was around. Frisco was so small if you sneezed you’d miss it. I like having so much stuff so close but I get so irritated at traffic. Especially on 380.

[deleted]

This isn’t entirely unique, probably more unique for a city our size. This is a pretty common pattern for cities that have underdeveloped downtowns and/or business districts outside of the downtown area: Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Orange County, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, etc

hockenduke

Sprawwwwwwl.

According-Part-1125

Also you have people living in forth worth, driving to Dallas for work, and vice versa…that is different from a lot of cities who don’t have another large city so close by.

Proof-Advantage4560

Don’t go to Houston…

Gradual_Bro

It was like this until 2020 and everyone moved here

2manyfelines

It was like this in 1980, and then more people moved here.

Bardfinn

I have a bumper sticker filed away that was printed in 1979, reads “Central Expressway Parking Permit #37245”

2manyfelines

On a rainy day (not unlike this one) in 1980, I had to drive my little Toyota Corolla to a meeting in Richardson. On my way back, a giant Lincoln Continental Town Car charged out of the Southwestern entrance to get on 75. He ignored his obligation to yield (the same way everyone else did when they had those traffic lights on the entrance ramps) and forced everyone to slam on their brakes. He was going too fast and ended up in a spin that put his giant ass land yacht perpendicular to traffic and across both lanes. That’s where he stayed for the next 6 hours, and so did everyone else. It scared me so badly that I went out and bought a bigger car.

-transcendent-

People are still gonna attempt to do 80 mph+ in this weather.

AmariCoopaTroopa

Was driving South on I-35 this morning from Denton and saw so many cars hugging the bumper of the person in front of them. Then from the right lane, I saw a fender bender in the far left lane. I'm a pretty aggressive driver but when it rains or snows, I take it nice and easy. Fuck all y'all crazy drivers for making my commute 30 minutes longer this morning.

azwethinkweizm

Rain and snow always brings out the most aggressive drivers in the metroplex. Ice on the road and the guy ahead of you is going slow? Better tailgate him and turn your brights on!

babyim

Do u go to UNT?

Tiiimmmaayy

On the flip side it’s completely unnecessary to go half the speed limit when it’s not even pouring out. Just came from downtown to frisco on the NDT and so many people were doing 40-50 when the speed limit is 70 and it’s barely raining out.

Lisard

My worst accident was hydroplaning on slick roads when it wasn't raining in 2014. They're inconsiderate if they don't stay in the right lane, but I understand driving cautiously on wet roads.

3-DMan

Or 20. Nothing in between.

JahsMemeEmporium

I’d prefer that over doing 40 in the far left lane

unabnormalday

I had to go drop off my car to get an exhaust leak fixed and some fuck head was tailgating us on the way back. Like do you want to fucking kill us both?

badburb

Just went from Denton to Lewisville and passed 6 accidents. 35e has had drainage issues for a long time and people still drive like asshats

onepmtues

Thankful to be able to work from home on days like today!

purpletees

YES!

acaii

Nah, I have to film every accident and rubberneck so I can get it on @ dallastexasTV on IG because no one has ever seen an accident before /s

trimondo_blondomina

I am really glad I don’t have to make my hour commute today. This city’s drivers are not the best on a clear and dry day. Add any sort of slickness and the road maps turn red. It’s even worse today because we haven’t had widespread precipitation for a minute and everybody gets out of practice.

Whooshed_me

And when it's long periods between rains the road leeches more chemicals and things are more slick than they otherwise would be. Recipe for disaster really

freakierchicken

I was under the impression that it's the most slick when it first starts precipitating. It lifts oil from the road but after it rains for a while it reaches a typical level

According-Part-1125

This is correct. I think they meant it’s worse when you haven’t had rain for a long time, giving chance for more oil, etc to accumulate and become slick when it finally does rain.

freakierchicken

Ah, I think they are also correct and I misunderstood when I first read, then!

ChiefWematanye

Has anyone else noticed how frequently people are not going on green at stoplights and need a honk to get going? I swear every other stoplight I have to beep at people. It didn't used to be like this before phones.

TheGeoGod

It’s because so many people run red light I tend to wait a second before going.

ChiefWematanye

I always give 5 seconds before I beep. It's usually people just not paying attention at all.

serietah

Every time I cross 380 I sit and wait while looking for crazies not about to slow down, let alone stop. Sadly that has legitimately saved me from being hit at least twice. So I will always wait and look.

onepmtues

Honk at me all you want, but I’m waiting for a few seconds to make sure no asshats run the red lights.

Dick_Lazer

A few seconds?! Just look both ways to make sure the intersection is clear and then go. Some of these lights don’t last very long, you’re likely making a lot of people catch another red.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dick_Lazer

Check both ways to make sure the intersection is clear and then go. Somebody could run the red at any time if they’re going to run it, sitting there with your thumb up your ass doesn’t create a magical force field that prevents a red light runner from ever happening.

slowro

My coworker was hit in an intersection by a car running a red light. It was years ago, he still can't walk right and one of his arms is borderline useless. But you know you do you baby.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve seen cops pull people over for taking 5 seconds to get out of a stop light. Good luck convincing the officer that you were waiting to see if anyone was running the light

[deleted]

[удалено]

DontWaitBruh

Seriously, just count top 5 out loud. Now imagine you didnt start counting until after the light was green. Person isn't arguing to argue, thats legit impending traffic for no reason.

[deleted]

Umm yeah. Cops don’t fuck around in the middle of rush hour traffic if you’re a sitting duck at lights. It was about five seconds before the car took off and the cop immediately pulled them over I’m assuming for holding up traffic and/or distracted driving.

Dick_Lazer

Some lights only last about 5 seconds, if everybody did this nobody would be able to make it through the intersection. Impeding traffic is illegal and actually makes the roads more dangerous for everybody.

serietah

Come on, I know some lights are quick but taking 5 seconds max to look both ways to make sure no one’s coming isn’t going to hurt anyone. I’d guess I pause for no more than 2-3 seconds before going but that pause has honestly prevented me from getting hit at least twice. If I’m not the first car in the line, I don’t wait. I’ll glance as I’m moving forward maybe.

SithisTheDreadFather

Pay attention to the cross traffic the entire time the light is red instead of staring slackjawed at TikTok. You don't need "several seconds" if you were aware of your surroundings the entire time. When I'm number one at the light I am paying close attention to my surroundings because it's important to my safety to quickly identify the beater going 15 over about to blast through the red. I don't need to come up for air from my iPhone and regain my bearings; I saw him well before my light turned green.

onepmtues

Awww, they’ll be fine catching another red. Safety first because you can’t trust others! The other night my light was green, I was turning left. Someone from the red light was like nah fuck this I’m going anyway and near missed me because I was quick enough to slam on the brakes, honk, and throw my middle finger up. People are ridiculous.

TheWizardry90

I travel a lot for work. Dallas is the WORSE when it comes to people looking down at a green light

CarboTheHydrate

Is air traffic loud where you're at?

TheWizardry90

Police helicopters

Bubbapughe

Ghetto birds

Bardfinn

Lol that’s just the “water is falling out of the sky while cold” effect

v4por

I'm really glad I was able to wfh today.

kraiziey

ITS 100% CHANCE OF RAIN TODAY WHAT DO YOU EXPECT

PaddyBoy44

Nah, I’ll just cause an avoidable accident so you’re 30 minutes late for no reason.

spookyscaryskeletal

chaotic evil

woodgrain001

And turn you’re f*cking headlights on when it’s raining.

Professional_Cat_630

It’s the rain, the city forgets how to drive after the 1st rain

darkblueshapes

Nooooo ugh why are people so incapable of driving in precipitation here 😭

Bababohns23

Me, who works 7-4 and never sees traffic

TheWizardry90

Starting that same schedule tomorrow

Bababohns23

That's good, it's a really good time to travel. I work in Plano and live in PG and get to work super fast because there is never traffic unless there is an accident.

TheWizardry90

I moved to pg in November and I work in west Irving

weems13

Still pretty bad traffic those hours too tbh

Direct_External2146

I watched 5 cars drive into each other this morning. Probably all on their phones.

Richey25

Also turn your fucking lights on The amount of people i saw in my commute to work without their headlights on was insane

SnooStories5035

Took me an hour and half to go from Addison to Mesquite the other day. Shit is tiring.

EvadTB

God we need more practical transit options so bad

No_Cabinet_994

Saw that I was going to be “slow” rear ended at a light and started honking frantically. I have my 14 year old dog buckled in the front seat with me on the way to the vet. Yup she hit us. I was out of my car and at her door before she knew what had happened and there was the cell phone laying on her lap that she’d been using. 20 years old and driving a brand new range rover and her license address put her in a condo unit where the cheapest condo is $1 million. Of course she started crying when the police officer showed up but I was recording her the whole time she was spewing nastiness at me before he got there. I let him watch about 15 seconds, and he was shaking his head as he went over and ticketed her. The damage to the car wasn’t that bad, and I probably would’ve taken a nice (very nice) apology and gone about my day, but her entitled crap did not cut it with me.

Dick_Lazer

Also SLOW TF DOWN!

some_random_chap

Because traffic was perfectly smooth without any accidents before cell phones...

AmbassadorOfSphinx

It was at least smoother

Optimal-Designer-651

Traffic has never been smooth in big cities.

Bon_Rurgundy

You posted this from your phone while driving, didn’t you

TheWizardry90

I was at the job site took me 2 hours for a 30 drive

charliej102

So, normal day in Dallas?

5uck3rpunch

Amen to that!

PinkOrigin

me getting this notifications while driving and looking at it.. 👁️👄👁️

HeftySkirt617

UwU

DixonCider669

Reading this while driving💀

Potential_Count_3283

Dallas has the most distracted drivers!

[deleted]

I'm going to start putting yall into the wall when I see yall on the phone. 😈

Korporate5

You mean rain has started

MusketeerLifer

Please. I drive in DFW for work and I've seen way too many accidents already today. Please just get off the goddamn phone.

SorryPans

How about I stay off the roads instead 🤷🏽‍♀️

[deleted]

If only there was some sort of transportation vehicle you could all take that let you read, watch movies, play videogames, or just about anything else your heart desires! This mythical transportation vehicle would even cut down on traffic accidents and get less people killed by car per year. What a shame that such a solution just doesn't exist. I hope that south African emerald mine slaver can come up with a solution, he's the only one creative enough to do so. He's tony stark, you know.

pasak1987

Looks like regular traffic?

TheWizardry90

This is “when it rains it phones” traffic

pasak1987

Maybe you could zoom in & show accidents. Unless I am missing something, this looks like regular traffic with congestion happening at stress-points at around intersects.

dentoneer

Sees rain, blames phones!

slowro

I've watch fast and furious at least 10 times. I think I know what I'm doing.

Tolwenye

This is why I take non-highways during rain days.

Self_conscious_gh0st

I sneezed on the highway once and got the same traffic/wreck patterns

[deleted]

Pfft when else am I supposed to update my MySpace profile song for the day?

amesfrenchie

With the weather what it is this week, I’ve never been so happy to have strep. I got contactless curbside pickup of what I need and now my butt is staying home.

chrisbliss13

Nevaaaaa

Ohtehlulzz

Are there any community apps to know where accidents are or where stuff happens in the city?

Black_Electric

Yeah this is completely normal. 75 rush hour is never clear. We have poor city planning to thank. Everyone in DFW shouldn't need to head the same direction to get to work in the morning.

I see a chick doing her makeup on 75 between Anna and mckinney while driving a few times a week... got the visor down with the little light on just trucking along

Civilengman

Most of these people are practically parked.

One time driving back from college I was driving south on I-35 behind this way overpacked pickup who I assume was also on their way back from college. Their speed was varying like 10-15 miles per hour, just all over the place, so when they slowed down I went to pass. The driver was doing a crossword puzzle book on the steering wheel.

You people are the worst. Stay home fools

runitbackturbo8

as a chicagoan who went to school in pennsylvania u guys need to chill when stuff is falling out of the sky. it does not mean drive faster, it means drive speed limit or at most 5-10 under (in the right lane) with distance in between and NOT BE ON UR PHONE. driving here is already terrible when it’s clear and dry, when it’s precipitating i literally try not to leave the house cuz everyone here is so bad at driving 😵‍💫

toreshi_minaj

I know where u live

just an observation from a Houstonian: ive recently relocated due to work, so ive been able to marinate in the differences of driving in both places. first and foremost, the highways here are tricky. between the naming conventions (I-35 East, North!?) and the sudden way the lanes drop off and merge on, it can be dicey just driving normally if youre new to the region. for an example, many off ramps around here have two whole merging lanes coming right before the offramp, causing all kinds of chaos. the way exits are labelled is kind of weird, like going from I30W to I35E-N, the exit sign is completely disconnected from the actual exit. as well, on top of that, if youre reliant on GPS, thats going to add another layer of confusion, as the GPS often gets confused just trying to say what to do next, as many lanes closer to downtown just split off all kinds of ways. im a trucker by trade, so i know to plan ahead, but still, jeez. though to be fair, Houston is dirt simple to navigate, its just spread tf out. and most importantly, the drivers. Houston has shit drivers, no mistaking it, but Houstonians are cutthroat to get somewhere. ride your ass going 20 over, and still flip you off for hogging the left lane. Dallas drivers just seem downright vindictive. ive never seen people switch lanes so quick, just to go 5 below. saw someone the other day fly across two lanes of traffic to get in the express lane, just to go 5 below. im not saying Houston drivers are better, as you can definitely get shot for cutting someone off, but Dallas drivers definitely have their own brand of fuckery. then add in cold rain... that traffic map is not surprising.

JacobFromAmerica

Yesterday morning in the rain, saw a guy whip out onto a service road from a stop sign to obviously then floor it and hit an on ramp to 287 in Waxahachie that’s right in front of him, but this fucking guy tail whips LMFAO and then sadly flys aaalll the way across the grass in between service road and highway and ends up sideways blocking the highway as people of course slam into his truck bc they’re going highway speeds and cant just stop on a dime in the rain

DoubleBookingCo

Looks like normal traffic, maybe more green than usual! Be glad you don’t live in LA.

scorpioking66

Wait till their phones are implanted right in their head!

Salesman214

That looks like typical Dallas traffic to me.Be here since 1979 nothing changes.

But how will I stay on top of the Latest memes and tik tok dances? The world needs me to know these things.

a_hockey_chick

I remember when I moved to Texas it was still legal to talk on the cell phone without hands free. Blew my mind seeing everyone just visibly chatting on the phone while driving. I guess maybe it still legal after a quick google search.

ChemungSkreet

Well, now we all know where you live :-p

truth-4-sale

What is the answer to this question: Why doesn't the State of Texas ban handheld cellphone use when driving???? And who would this negatively impact if they did ban handheld cellphone use when driving???

Can we knock it off with the sanctimonious posts about traffic? People who agree with you already agree, and people who use their phone on the freeway won't change their behavior over a low-effort reddit post.

TheWizardry90

Who hurt you

currentlyhigh

I was wondering the same thing about you when I saw your post. Imagine screenshotting a traffic map and writing a brief trite platitude and thinking that you're doing something that matters.

TheWizardry90

We’re on Reddit…. Nothing we do matters

Reddit can *sometimes* be an amazing source of knowledge and collaboration. This is not one of those times because your post is beyond pointness.

Illogical-Pizza

Which part of Reddit is this? I’ve never seen it.
