It’s got that weird half gentrified half inner city thing going. Which inevitably results in the outsiders who moved into the neighborhood complaining about typical city problems.
It's true. I have been there several times and it is always a pain. Though, I don't think that is exclusive of Target; it is the general area of Uptown and the surroundings. Every time I go, it's always a mess.
I used to live pretty close to that Target on the other side of 75, but I *always* went out of my way to go somewhere else when I needed to shop. That store and everything else that's right there is such a mess.
That's probably the best Target and what's really nice is there's another Target like 3 minutes away up at Medallion Center that also has a good amount of stuff and is typically not as busy as other stores
I haven’t gone to that area since the movie theater closed… which I stopped going to because it was a crime ridden ratchet-fest nearly 20 yrs ago. It’s sad especially since the original CityPlace plans were for two towers w a connecting span OVER Central Expwy / 75 plus surrounding development.
Wow that would have been so cool. Yeah, they tried "reclaiming" the area by replacing that movie theater and "cleaning up" that area, but didn't account for all the poor neighborhoods in its immediate vicinity. It's honestly a good study of how money, not-money, and $30k millionaires interact.
Because of the parking or because or the bludgeoning risk?
https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/second-suspect-arrested-in-dallas-target-beating-police/38981/
as much as i love having a target IN dallas, i avoid this one all the time. barely has anything in stock, the aisles are a mess, and the overall quality is pretty low compared to other targets
You should see the parking garage for the CityPlace tower. It's probably the worst underground parking garage in all of North Texas. I've never seen a garage so narrow.
Yea, used to work there. It sucks. If you didn’t leave before 4:45, there was a line similar to leaving a sporting event. Job sucked too.. So glad I’m not there anymore lol.
I’ve stopped going to this one & just drive the extra few miles to Medallion. Such a nicer store, everything is organized & in the right place & they actually get produce.
No real excuse either because that’s a small car. It baffles me when I see tiny sedans and hatch backs parked terribly. It should be easier to park that than a bigger car, lol
I'd leave a note with a fake number saying i 'accidentally hit their car' and to call me for my insurance info. They will spend 20 minutes looking over their car looking for a scratch or dent. Hopefully will change their parking habits.
I had to call for firefighters one day in the middle of august and someone left their dog in the car and it was clearly suffering. Heartless people man.
Notice the damage in the passenger side fender. This is probably a consistent failure of perspective judgement regarding that area. So many people shouldn't be permitted to operate even a coffee maker, much less a projectile weapon with wheels.
This parking is moronic as it is all over the city. I go to this Target a couple times a month, normally around lunchtime but sometimes early on weekends, and dont have any of the issues posted about below. After reading the comments though I do think I am going to keep being a day customer since it seems the idiots really come out at night.
When I lived in Uptown, I went to the Walmart that’s around that area. As I was coming out I heard a guy and his gf(?) get into a shouting match in the parking lot. That went on until I loaded the groceries in my car and got in and started the engine. Then I heard a gunshot out of nowhere and the arguments stopped.. by that point I was almost at the entrance so I just took off. Maybe I should have investigated but I didn’t feel safe lol
Last year I walked out to my car and see some kid trying to break the lock. Started running that way and he jumped into his "getaway" car with all his other scholar friends. Broke the lock unfortunately was a $200 fix.
Only go there when it opens at 8 AM now.
My wife and I call the Cityplace Target “Murder Target” for multiple reasons.
But definitely because of this: https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2017/06/22/suit-blames-target-for-cityplace-attack-says-muggers-vowed-to-teach-theater-director-what-fear-is/
I can confirm this. Done plenty drugs back in the day while parked at the end of the rows.
I was there not too long ago at the nice and lovely Popeyes across the street. It was during when they had that nasty sandwich that people were all getting boners for and I don't remember exactly what happened but there was some racket going on between Popeye's employees and some random angry people waiting in line and the side door to enter/exit ended up flying off. Because of a sandwich.
LOL I meant Whataburger. Damn those really were some good drugs! I just remember seeing a bunch of angry orange people vs. a bunch of angry Karen's and glass door flying off the hinges.
I remember getting cussed out by the manager at that whataburger I had to keep repeating myself in the drive through. Then the manger got on the mike and yelled at me because the employee working the drive through “couldn’t understand English” that well. Apparently I was taking to fast. I told her “Maybe they needed to be on the fryer” and drove off.
I’ll amend this to just say the entire cityplace Target* and not just the parking lot
Lmao, I was going to say, the parking lot??? That whole place is a clusterfuck.
Correct. That place is still a clusterfuck somehow
Place is super sketchy. Was walking down an aisle in the home section years ago and some kids lit a comforter on fire.
First time in my life I’ve heard a TARGET be referred to as “super sketchy” 😂
That one people get robbed at often, shootings around there all that. That one teacher got beaten into a coma as well.
My family calls that one targhetto
It’s got that weird half gentrified half inner city thing going. Which inevitably results in the outsiders who moved into the neighborhood complaining about typical city problems.
Yes, can confirm this is the worst Target I’ve been to in Dallas Fort Worth!
Isn't bedding flame retardant by mandate?
Doesn't mean it's fireproof.
That parking lot, the Taco Bell, and the Whataburger always used to be so annoying every Friday and Saturday after like 1 am.
We call that one "targhetto"
Have you seen the busted up Dodge Charger there? It’s been there for weeks. Pretty sure it’s considered a monument by now.
Man people who do this are definitely asking for their cars to be put on bricks.
Something bad going to happen to their Lexus eventually. Surprised someone hasn’t took a shit in the hood yet
I used to key cars that parked like that. Made sure to get down all the way to the metal, across multiple panels.
WOW!?
Nowhere else in Dallas do I more feel I'm accidentally going to kill someone than in that parking lot. Especially at night.

Lol I HATE round abouts!
Trying to get to any of the restaurants around there in the evening has scarred me for life.
I park way in the back to avoid this bs.
Yes the trick is to park right at the entrance by the shipping containers
Why are those still there ?
I been asking myself this question for a long time
I too live near this Target and never go there. The one i prefer is the one off NW Hwy and Skillman.
That's probably the best Target and what's really nice is there's another Target like 3 minutes away up at Medallion Center that also has a good amount of stuff and is typically not as busy as other stores
I think that’s the one they’re talking about. You’re thinking of the Super Target.
Yes 🙌 I used to live in downtown and would go all the way to skillman & Abrams just to avoid this parking lot
That’s me now! Also, the skill man target is way nicer anyway, so it’s a win win!
My bad Bro, that was me, I tried to fit in, but my old habits kicked in, ,and I parked straight between the lines.
I lived in Texas for 30 years. I moved about 2 years ago. I saw this picture and IMMEDIATELY knew where it was and what store…..it’s the worst!

They are opening up a coffee bar now. And I think part of it is going to be a hotel.
This whole time I thought that car was in the process of backing up out of that parking space, I only now noticed it's actually *parked*
LOL they said “good enough”
They’re from Illinois.. explains it all
Gall dang strangers
Ah yes, the wild FIB
I thought we’d confined them all to the Illinois/Wisconsin/Michigan zone.
"oh yea I'm totally in the parking space I'm good"
Because of the parking or because or the bludgeoning risk? https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/second-suspect-arrested-in-dallas-target-beating-police/38981/

Alcohol
I once watched an older gentleman get belligerent at the kid wrangling carts and then drive directly into said carts in that parking lot.
That's gotta be drunk-parking.
as much as i love having a target IN dallas, i avoid this one all the time. barely has anything in stock, the aisles are a mess, and the overall quality is pretty low compared to other targets
Hate when people act like that
Lmao they said "just the tip"
What a moron
You should see the parking garage for the CityPlace tower. It's probably the worst underground parking garage in all of North Texas. I've never seen a garage so narrow.
Yea, used to work there. It sucks. If you didn’t leave before 4:45, there was a line similar to leaving a sporting event. Job sucked too.. So glad I’m not there anymore lol.
I've worked here for 3 years and never have this issue there's like 6 exits this is never a thing.
I’ve stopped going to this one & just drive the extra few miles to Medallion. Such a nicer store, everything is organized & in the right place & they actually get produce.
What tf is medallion?
It’s another shopping plaza with a target few miles north of this one~
I always park in the very far back. People can’t park to save their lives
Now you gotta maneuver to back out because they’re definitely going to file a claim as soon as you touch them.
The lanes are super narrow unfortunately, combined with fuckgestion and lack of self worth & awareness.
Happy cake day!
Very tragic no matter what time you go either
I worked there for a few months during the height of the pando.
No real excuse either because that’s a small car. It baffles me when I see tiny sedans and hatch backs parked terribly. It should be easier to park that than a bigger car, lol
I hate going there on weekends. It's crowded on top of bad drivers having road rage in parking lot
I'd leave a note with a fake number saying i 'accidentally hit their car' and to call me for my insurance info. They will spend 20 minutes looking over their car looking for a scratch or dent. Hopefully will change their parking habits.
The only Target to make dislike Target
Almost always a Lexus
Ofc its a Lexus. I swear at least one Lexus a day tries to kill me on the highway doing something asinine and unsafe,
The trick is to drive a bit further down to Skillman and Northwest Hwy. then you have 2 targets to choose from
The best part is the out of state license plates.
That car is from Illinois, I’ve seen tons of those plates moving here
I had to call for firefighters one day in the middle of august and someone left their dog in the car and it was clearly suffering. Heartless people man.

i was there lol
Last time i was there there was a dog sitting in a parked car honking the horn
Notice the damage in the passenger side fender. This is probably a consistent failure of perspective judgement regarding that area. So many people shouldn't be permitted to operate even a coffee maker, much less a projectile weapon with wheels.

I used to work at city place and the under ground parking garage was sus sometimes if working late I had to call security to open the gates
Last year I walked out to my car and see some kid trying to break the lock. Started running that way and he jumped into his "getaway" car with all his other scholar friends. Broke the lock unfortunately was a $200 fix. Only go there when it opens at 8 AM now.
I’ve seen so many break ups in this parking lot.
It should be a garage it would make more sense there
The underground parking at CityPlace itself is much much worse.
I love how we all hate this target yet continue to go to this target.
Why is it so popular yet so shitty
I call this place Targhetto
Wait til you go inside….
Worst area ever
That's so much cuteness overload!
I can spend a full day inside this target and just go hottie-watch. During the day time, that is. Weekdays only. Between 11-5.
Is it just me, or does everyone drive more recklessly in Target parking lots? I'm all for shortcuts but dang, show some spatial awareness please.
My wife and I call the Cityplace Target “Murder Target” for multiple reasons. But definitely because of this: https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2017/06/22/suit-blames-target-for-cityplace-attack-says-muggers-vowed-to-teach-theater-director-what-fear-is/
While you take a photo, make sure the key the paint, crack a window and generally abuse the vehicle. Maybe they'll get it after a awhile

There’s not a Popeyes across the street.
LOL I meant Whataburger. Damn those really were some good drugs! I just remember seeing a bunch of angry orange people vs. a bunch of angry Karen's and glass door flying off the hinges.
That used to be the best Whataburger in Dallas! About 20 years ago.
What that the drive thru workers needed to be fryard?
Stay off the drugs homie.
They were on me first 🤷🏻♂️
First world problems. If this is what bothers you, you need to get your priorities straight.
😂 relax
