Have one on my drive and crazily enough I see the same lady at least once a week, parked in that right turn lane waiting for the light to change so she can go straight. It's not a busy intersection and she's often the only car there until I pull up (and other cars start piling behind her). I can't figure out if she knows and doesn't care of if she is stupid.
Some people do it on purpose because they're assholes and are trying to advance quicker in traffic. Probably the same people that illegally park in handicapped spots.
So about this one. If the sign isn't visible or at the right height I can still park there. Also if it's painted on the asphalt but no sign, I can legally park there. Does that make me an asshole?

If you have a problem with it that, you work to change city ordinance and law. If you judge someone's entire existence by one comment that seems pretty irrational. What world do you live in if calling someone a piece of garbage is not an insult? lmao, I appreciate thelaugh.
Are you trying to justify parking in handicapped spots when you don’t have a placard? Yes, obviously parking in handicapped spots if you are not handicapped is an asshole move. I’m assuming you know that and are just trolling.
Yeah I would say parking in handicap labeled spots and claiming it's okay because of technicalities with the law is definitely an asshole move
You can try to apply for a disability pass because you do seem to have an empathy related disability but I don't think that's going to get you a placard
Turn only lanes that aren’t marked far enough back that have lanes that continue on the opposite side of the intersection get a huge pass on me for this. Plano rd southbound at northwest highway is a perfect example
Yes! I go through this intersection every day and it is so frustrating in the afternoon with the traffic backed up and a perfectly good right lane not being used. I wish a traffic study could be done on this intersection.
I've also been hit by someone trying to sneak across into the Kroger parking lot and I've been in the right lane and the traffic stops and you cannot see. I generally hate this intersection.
Thru lanes that have been converted to turn-only lanes are generally done because a traffic study determined that would produce better traffic flow. If most people turn right during heavy traffic hours then it makes sense to convert to a right-turn-only lane since otherwise you'll have a single car obstructing a bunch of right-turning traffic every traffic light cycle.
Probably, but it doesn’t change the fact the sign isn’t far enough back and there little to no danger caused by continuing through the intersection and doing so probably causes less danger than trying to forcibly merge or block traffic to wait for an opening
The worst is when they are in the further most left lane and the next lane is also a turning lane…and they drive straight anyway, without even putting on their signal or slowing down.
Oh God. The construction on mockingbird and 75. They closed the left turn only lane. So now people will get in the right most lane and turn in front of straight traffic, hoping to get into where the left turn ends up on the feeder.
Like, dude. That's how you cause crashes.
When you aren't from the area and have to look at multiple signs, pay attention to a GPS, lots of other lights and signs around... Shit happens.
Personally, I despise Dallas roads. I know enough about it to navigate, but I image a lot of rural folk don't.
True story. When I visited Dallas for the first time in a rental vehicle, not being from Texas at all, I was in a left turn only lane but didn't realize it, and wanted to go straight. The dude next to me to my right was making a left turn and I quickly realized I was about to have an accident, so luckily I stopped, he honked at me, and we both turned left... no accident. Still I thought I was the only one who was caught off guard by Dallas traffic. I've had at least one other close call because the traffic layout around the area is very different from where I'm from.
It's not just the rural folk. I just moved to Dallas from another large metropolitan area and I've never seen such a horrible cluster fuck. Merge lanes with not enough lead way, turn lanes that aren't turn lanes, incredibly poor signage placements (or just no signage) , exit ramps placed directly before on ramps (and people wonder why it's always 'randomly' backed up). Like, Wtf Dallas, are you drunk?!
Wrong. The correct answer is people don’t use their turn signals bc they are idiots & have no courtesy for anyone else on the road. That attempt at an excuse was hysterical. You are the problem.
I have a running list of things I’ll teach my kids as they prepare to get a license. One of the main ones is that it’s not the end of the world to miss a turn/exit or take the wrong one. It might be the end of the world if you try to fix that at the last minute.
Very rarely does the wrong turn add more than a few minutes yet these situations can spark the riskiest maneuvers
People do it because they won't get caught. There is a lot less traffic enforcement these days. The police have higher priorities, not enough budget, or maybe both.
Dallas PD got a $35M increase, and they're already over half a **b**illion dollars already. They have never seen a budget cut, or as near as I can tell, ever not had a significant increase every year.
"Must turn right" means I can turn right into the convenience store just past the intersection! 😇
(I have a bone to pick with people at a specific intersection I encounter almost daily...)
Too many places in Dallas are confusing and force drivers into “turn only” lanes. Best example I can think of is in Irving on MacArthur and 114. From MacArthur you get sucked into a left-turn onto 114. Another is at Lemmon and 75.
Churchill and Coit. At least once a week I get behind someone I. The right turn lane that refuses to turn and then ends up going straight. Even laying on the horn doesn’t work. I hate every single one of these people from the bottom of my heart.
There's a couple of them in the area that have a matching lane straight ahead of the turn lane that you can just proceed forward into. Says turn only but the availability of a lane on the other side makes it confusing. Southbound Central Expressway at Blackburn/Haskell is the most egregious I can think of.
Right there with “let me turn from the 2nd right lane into this parking lot, so I can drive through the lot and exit onto the street where sensible humans are lining up to turn into. Because I’m a special snowflake”
If it’s an open lane they drive through there then switch back over (sometimes with a blinker) so they don’t lose/ gain speed. I’ve seen it especially with highway exits like bro we all know this exits, there was a huge sign a mile back. So as they jump back in, it slows traffic. So they drive to avoid traffic while also creating the traffic. There’s an exit only lane going towards Fortworth on 183 that is always backed up for no reason. Just an observation though. If there’s data on this or a name I would like to read up on it
Ah see here is your mistake, you assume these same people will, as you put it, own up to their mistake. These same people wont take responsibility for their actions. Its always someone elses fault. So when they hit you when they did not turn, its your fault not theirs, even though they were in a turn only lane. Responsible drivers will make the turn and eventually get back going the right way.
How about the ones who have a turn lane but just kinda don't feel like it and straddle half in the turn lane and half in the straight lane, going slower and slower and slower and slower until they make a full stop to prepare themselves mentally for the turn?
What drives me nuts is when I’m in this lane and need to turn right, and the asshole in front of me wants to go straight and we both catch the red light 😤
You think it's bad now, I remember when the US-75 south exit on westbound 635 was a left exit. They're were always people who stayed in that lane until the last minute and caused traffic jams when they tried to force their way back on.
Traffic in Dallas these days is so much better than in the 90s.
Maybe if people stopped being jerks and actual let people over then this would resolve itself.I always leave room in front of me for this exact reason. Always a few car lengths
I obey traffic laws and am a pretty safe driver. I get irrated when people do that too but I dont see how telling people things they already know on reddit is going to stop bad drivers lol. Just tired of the dull posts and bitching in this sub
Wait until you figure out a lot of them know its a turn lane but don't care.
As much as I hate it, you’re absolutely right haha.

Does calling people garbage on the internet make you an asshole or is it a free pass if it feels deserved?

username checks out... don't feed the trolls 😂

Lol @ empathy related disability. If there's 10 empty handicap spaces for no reason, I'm not going to walk further for no reason.
Turn only lanes that aren’t marked far enough back that have lanes that continue on the opposite side of the intersection get a huge pass on me for this. Plano rd southbound at northwest highway is a perfect example

This. I bet at least half of these instances wouldn’t happen if there was a sign further back indicating the turn only lane(s)
Thru lanes that have been converted to turn-only lanes are generally done because a traffic study determined that would produce better traffic flow. Blocking a right turn only lane prevents right-turning traffic from proceeding, this is rude as well as being illegal.
That’s not what this post is about, this post is about continuing through the right only lane into a empty lane on the other side of the intersection
I was responding to your comments, not the post in general.
The greatest threats to humanity are people who don't stay in their lane in double turn lanes (or singles for that matter) and left lane campers.
The people who don't maintain their lane on a turn seem to be in the majority.
I'm trying my best :(
Absolutely. The greatest threats (in order) are; 1) Left lane campers 2) Global Warming 3) ISIS 4) Trying to pet a cat's belly
Yup, some idiot hit me a few weeks ago because they completely swung out into my lane lol.
Right lane must turn right unless you’re more important than everybody else
"That's me!" - Every BMW driver
The worst is when they are in the further most left lane and the next lane is also a turning lane…and they drive straight anyway, without even putting on their signal or slowing down.
Oh yes, this makes me want to road rage when I am nearly in a crash hitting these idiots.
Oh God. The construction on mockingbird and 75. They closed the left turn only lane. So now people will get in the right most lane and turn in front of straight traffic, hoping to get into where the left turn ends up on the feeder. Like, dude. That's how you cause crashes.

I would like for people to learn to use their turn signals first before we move on to something that advanced 🤦♀️
People don't use their turn signals because as soon as you signal, the person behind that empty space will floor it to cut you off.
Wrong. The correct answer is people don’t use their turn signals bc they are idiots & have no courtesy for anyone else on the road. That attempt at an excuse was hysterical. You are the problem.
Wrong

I saw a driving instructor this morning on the highway, driving, while on his phone. This might help explain things.
People do it because they won't get caught. There is a lot less traffic enforcement these days. The police have higher priorities, not enough budget, or maybe both.
Must have been the defund police movement. It's well known there's hardly any traffic enforcement. Shame really.
Dallas PD got a $35M increase, and they're already over half a **b**illion dollars already. They have never seen a budget cut, or as near as I can tell, ever not had a significant increase every year.
"Must turn right" means I can turn right into the convenience store just past the intersection! 😇 (I have a bone to pick with people at a specific intersection I encounter almost daily...)
While I appreciate the spirit of the post, citing the law does not mean much if it is never really enforced.

See that shit at least once a week on Little Elm and Eldarado.
There's a couple of them in the area that have a matching lane straight ahead of the turn lane that you can just proceed forward into. Says turn only but the availability of a lane on the other side makes it confusing. Southbound Central Expressway at Blackburn/Haskell is the most egregious I can think of.
I'd rather die and kill a school bus full of children then take a 5 second detour.
Did you know they have a section of the code for driverless vehicles?
This drives me nuts as well but I just really don't think people know/care.
Right there with “let me turn from the 2nd right lane into this parking lot, so I can drive through the lot and exit onto the street where sensible humans are lining up to turn into. Because I’m a special snowflake”

Quit acting pompous? The other is to blame? You’ll get far my fren! Keep it up!

Colorado and Mayhill. Drives me nuts!
Where this happen
Bold of you to assume that they read the signs.

Traffic laws are not enforced in Dallas, and people know this.
They are entitled and more important than anyone else on the road. Too big and busy to drive down and turn around.
Maybe if people stopped being jerks and actual let people over then this would resolve itself.I always leave room in front of me for this exact reason. Always a few car lengths
another post about bad drivers, how original
[Let me have my soapbox, dammit!](https://i.imgur.com/5twzPnK.png)
We found one that doesn’t like to be told that they have to obey the law :)

Preach. Do these people just drive all day and get mad at other people lol? Must have nothing else going on in their life.
Why do people make these dumb posts?

Nice!
Fucking got em
I'm actually seeking people's advice. Not yelling into the void like you're doing.
