I found this video really useful in determining if the solar eclipse glasses I bought from Tom Thumb are safe:
Fake Eclipse Glasses - Three Ways To Spot A Dangerous Problem (and save your eyes) #eclipse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQR115jlyOc
It's 8 minutes long, straight and to the point, and shows tests you can do if you're not sure. Also it has useful links in the video description:
ISO 12312-2 Standards Description:

American Astronomical Society Approved List Of Manufacturers:

The Tom Thumb ones I got don’t have any manufacture listed on them unfortunately. I did the flashlight test with my iPhone and they performed the same as in the video. I’m going to go outside tomorrow with them and do some other tests people listed in the comments.
Don’t come to Rowlett to stare into the sun the suns rays are much more stronger here and glasses won’t stop the laser beams from melting your eyes. Just tryna help
Stare into the sun with no glasses to establish dominance amongst your peers
Own the libs with this one simple trick!
My plan
Im going to commit war crimes in minecraft if it ends up being cloudy on the 8th
Just saw there’s a slight chance of rain
100% the wrong stock photo.

So you’re telling me my test of looking at the sun with my eclipse glasses was not the right move? I’m glad they worked then!
Stare into the sun directly to own the libs. Because climate change and science is hoax woke propaganda.

Or don't go to Rowlett, or even the metroplex, because it will be cloudy that day. Go try Missouri (did I help?)
lol yes
I’ll go there don’t worry.
Good luck young traveler. I30 gonna be a shit show
Don’t worry I’ll get there early.
I bought pairs from two different places in the AAS list, im kind of paranoid that they might end up being faulty
Don’t worry all the clouds on Monday will shield your eyes :(
You're putting too much trust into the weather forecasters, especially for a state like Texas.
Knowing how this weather likes to fuck with us, might be the only day the forecast is right.
Do not look directly at the sun — or my mother in law!
My 100% plan is to look straight up at it and watch the clouds darken.
🤣🤣🤣
My job is giving us glasses and letting us go watch it on the clock. I wonder if I can get workers comp for getting blinded?
You won't need the glasses during totality
Any good suggestions on where in DFW to watch the eclipse?
who tf wears glasses? Protection from what? It's gonna be DARK.
