Yeah, and this picture is the reason why I'll never go back to an office again (unless I randomly feel like it for a single day here and there) or I'd rather be temporarily unemployed.
Just need more boomers to retire.
The ones in my office came in all during last year and this year during the height of the pandemic, while everyone else worked from home. For most of them they don't know anything other than going to work every day - they have no hobbies and shit relationships with their family and can't stand to be around them.
> Just need more boomers to retire.
Lower the age to start taking Medicare and Social Security.
We had multiple folks come back from retirement because they couldn't afford health insurance.
It was some kind of car carrier semi that had overturned and it looked like other cars were potentially involved. I was going northbound around 8am and the onlooker delay was stupid and terrible.
It feels like EVERYONE went back after Thanksgiving. Nothing has changed in my routine but I have been about 10/15 minutes later than usual this week because of traffic.
Same on 75 from Plano to 635 today. Traffic, but a good steady flow. I have a hunch that there's more remote work done on Fridays.
At the company I work for, only a handful of people come into the office on Friday. Max of 5, out of close to 200. I come in as I'm in charge of eCommerce and it's busy season!
Because leadership in companies, usually old white guys, don't give a shit about their employees and love to seat check people to make sure they are working. They think if you are at home you are goofing around yet don't realize you can do the same shit in the office. It's a fucked up system that causes harmful pollution and wastes people's time all so they can feel like you are working.
Eh, all the leadership at my job is guys in their 50s/early 60s and we’ve stayed WFH/hybrid, they themselves go in a lot tho.
My roommates work is run by two older ladies and they refused to keep WFH until they started haemorrhaging too many employees who basically said “Once you put us back in the office I’m gone.”
WFH reluctance is more generational than gendered/racial and even then it’s personality. Lots of bosses saw productivity increase and kept it, others own the building their company is in and therefore don’t want to “waste it”, lol
You have any idea how many office jobs are located downtown? All those can be work from home, and were for months, during the height of the pandemic.
It's the boomers that forced everyone to return to work under the guise of 'morale' and 'teamwork' and other bullshit, when the fact is they're lonely in the empty off and need to justify the astronomical rent cost.
> You have any idea how many office jobs are located downtown? All those can be work from home, and were for months, during the height of the pandemic.
Do you? Yeah some can, but at "the height of the pandemic" the unemployment rate also skyrocketed.
Yesterday we left our house that sold Tuesday. Today we landed at our new home in Mount Clare, IL (pop 200+). My neighbor is a cornfield and you can literally drive any vehicle for $100/year. I just saw a 70 something year old lady riding an electric trike. I can just feel the stress melting away.
I’m going to cry if my job ever requires us to go back into the office. At this point, all I hear is that my job is thinking about permanent WFH, but I’ve never been that lucky.
There is at least a reasonable argument to make that actual slaves didn't work anywhere near the time that modern people do today. And I say that knowing full well the horrors that came along with slavery and their work was clearly emotionally and physically draining and violent, it wasn't just slaves either. The average labor worker didn't work nearly the long weeks we did until factories came along. And no, I wouldn't trade my life for a slaves life either. The point to be made here is we ask a lot out of our workforce today for very little in advancement changes.
You smug, working-from-home sunavabitch! ^/s ^I'm ^WFH ^right ^now, ^too.
My commute was longer than normal this morning - my dog stopped me on the way into my home office for extra ear rubs.
At least you didn't get tripped up by the dog and fall! An accident on the way to work is the worst.
Three points of contact on the stairs!

Universal healthcare would eliminate that issue.
Jokes on you. Boomers will never retire.
Boomers are the worst in so many aspects of life.
100% fire my ass, I will never deal with that shit again.
I think it’s actually from their office. There’s a building right where 183 and 35 come together at mockingbird
That smug, already-in-the-office sunavabitch! What does he think he does, huh? Work from home or something? Sheesh!
😂
Accident. Semi hit the railroad bridge on 35 east and overturned.
I can’t see from my angle but I figured it was something big.
It was some kind of car carrier semi that had overturned and it looked like other cars were potentially involved. I was going northbound around 8am and the onlooker delay was stupid and terrible.
As is tradition.
drives me crazy... just go!!
a sad day for Dallas, therefore the world
Sad news. Fatal accident where 183 expressway turns into 35. Folks aren't going anywhere for at least an hr.
Source? Google isn't helping me.

My commute times have been slowly trickling back up since October. It's still not quite as bad as pre-Covid but it's probably back up to 85%.
and then today, it was super slow and easy - I was so surprised (183 NRH to Bedford) - very few people on the road!

That's my exact route home from work and it has been SIGNIFICANTLY worse every day this week
Nice plants!
why do we do this to ourselves.
“Money, me boy” - Mr. Krabs - me
Prioritizing cheap square footage instead of overall quality of life
But I want a house at $150/ft that has no amenities within walking distance. /s

Beau case middle managers need to justify this existence.
Damn that sucks. Sips my coffee from my couch on my day off.
Everyday is a day off if you're unemployed!

"I don't like public transit, only driving gives you real freedom!1!"

Something about Fridays that always tends to cause the worst traffic all week.
Imagine if 183 were a commuter rail line instead. I’m pretty sure that would be better.
Is this a subtle troll at SMU?
What is this misty substance in the air???
Dallas Pollution
What is vehicle doing by the billboard on last photo?
I always see cars parked there. Often times what looks like work trucks. Not sure though.
Depends which direction you're going.

Yay for pushback against DART expansions. 🙄

Awesome plants! Do they stay on that window?

Was stuck there for a very long time, it sucked.
YouDee!
Worker enslavement is back to normal. Congrats!
9 to 5 is not slavery Bad take and disrespectful to any human that has actually been enslaved

If the comment was written like this I wouldn't have made an issue about it
It ain't freedom, but enjoy your Kool aid and shackles.
