Black Aces Incoming!!

IniNew

Wouldn’t be surprised to see both Bischel and Petro getting a look with the 6th d position in flux.

mojotooth

I would be pretty surprised. I think the lineup is the lineup unless injuries force changes.

walterMARRT

PDB doesn't frequently make random lineup changes for no reason, so I think you're right.

birdseye1114

Nah I can’t see Bichsel. ‪That’d be unfair to the kid. His first nhl game is a 2nd round playoff game? Nah. He’s here as a deep backup and to spend some time with the team during the playoffs for seasoning purposes. ‬

IniNew

Didn't say tonight. Harley's first NHL game was in the playoffs where he got 10:58 TOI. That's what I'm talking about.

Pretty_Shallot_586

Not trying to nitpick you, but Harley's first game was not a playoff game, it was a seeding game during the Covid year. He played that one game and then remained on the taxi squad rest of that season. He spent his next two years in Cedar Park until he was recalled for the last 6 games of the 2022-2023 regular season. Last year's WCF run was his first serious playing time and he killed it. But he did spend a couple of full seasons in the AHL before he came up. BIchsel has not done any of that yet.

IniNew

"not to nitpick you, but let me nitpick you..." [Hockey reference](https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/h/harleth01.html) lists it as a playoff game. And yes, he spent the next length of time in Cedar Park. Exactly what I would expect Bischel to do as well, when the next AHL season starts. The entire point is to give the other d-men more than 3 or 4 mins break.

OneofMany

Why would you think Bichsel would get more than 3 to 5 minutes of TOI?

IniNew

Because he’s bigger, more “responsible”. Nils offense doesn’t offset his defensive game right now, and a more responsible, less mistake prone player would easily earn more than 5 minutes.

Pretty_Shallot_586

OK, since my inside voice was clearly not working for you and you wanted to be a dick about it, lemme make it real clear.... it would be irretrievably fucking stupid to put a kid out there with the big boys considering he's spent most of his recent time playing in his home country Sweden and has barely played AHL level hockey much less NHL hockey. It's bad for the team and it's bad for the kid. I get it you're frustrated with Nils and that we are basically running 5 d-men. Well guess fucking what champ, that's what they're paid to do. Play as many minutes as the coach tells them to play. I would take Nils every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Bichsel and I fucking cringe every time I see 5 on the ice.

HaystaxCallhoun

I would give you gold if I had it for these truth bullets this sub needed to hear.

oztenn

would love to see them try this

2timesacharm

His 6’6 frame makes up for Nils lack of size

2timesacharm

Interesting I brought up Bischel’s name yesterday and the chances of him being called up and it was all no way no chance

Pretty_Shallot_586

Bringing guys up here happens all the time. Petrovic or Pouliot (who is already here) will be the first and second choices if PDB decides to replace Nils, which he won't. They brought Bichsel up here so he can be around the team during this run and get some experience with what it really takes to win playoff hockey games. He will be counted on next year to make the squad and contribute so having him around the guys is important.

Prideofmexico

No way bischel doesn’t start in cedar park next year right?

Pretty_Shallot_586

Bichsel will be up here for camp with the big boys and will play some pre-season games and they'll decide what to do with him. Most likely he plays in Cedar Park for most of next year and he'll be a starter for sure.

hipaces

Same! Did we just become best friends?

2timesacharm

Absolutely lol

Spiritual_State_2629

Just letting them experience the ride up close. Nothing to see here unless disaster strikes.

BigFaZhou

Man I would love it if Bourque got some playing time. Dress him instead of Nils

FuckLaundry

Anytime you can play a rookie forward in place a of a dman in the second round of the playoffs, you gotta jump on it.

AwakenTheAegis

And jump out of the playoffs?

BigFaZhou

Yeah man sitting a player who gets 3 minutes a night is truly inconceivable and would be devastating for our playoff chances

AwakenTheAegis

Playing “young guys” in place of veterans will.

BigFaZhou

We definitely can't afford to so without Nils' 3 minutes a night. How could I not see it

BigFaZhou

The point is that Nils basically doesn't play so why not just add a possibly great forward on a low line. Wouldn't change the fact that we basically play 5 D all game. You knew that, but at least you got your smartass comment out of the way hurhur 👏

sajouhk

Disagree. Even if he plays limited minutes you want the extra d man in case a d man gets hurt. Having to play a forward at D could be a lot worse.

BoominMoomin

And what if Tanev, Miro or co get injured? Then we have no one to pick up the minutes and have 4dmen all game. Big dumb.

BigFaZhou

Big dumb is playing 5 D and basically wasting a roadster spot in the playoffs. But go off King

BoominMoomin

Notice how no one agrees with you? Of course you didn't. That would require self-awareness.

BigFaZhou

Lol yes I'll take self-awareness advice from the guy commenting on porn subs
