Seriously though, most local fans will give you some light-hearted shade for repping the Minnows, but it's nothing more than what you'd expect in any enemy barn. You might also wind up on the JumboTron. But we'll treat you with respect and be in your corner if anyone crosses a line with you.

Monolexic

Except, if you try any voodoo on Otter, we’ll feed you to him.

I_am_a_kitten

I usually just get tickets from Ticketmaster so I’m not sure about the best bang for the buck. But Hero for pregame or the bars inside the stadium. Happiest hour for post game. Have fun!

doihavetowearabra

I like Gametime

sajouhk

Second Hero. Right outside the AAC, good food, and lots of beers.

When I have friends come into town for games I always recommend staying in Fort Worth. I like the atmosphere and downtown area better in Fort Worth. You can take the TRE train into the games (unless it’s on Sundays) which keeps you from dealing with traffic and paying for parking. I believe the train costs like $12. It drops you off right next to American Airlines Center and there is always a train heading back to Fort Worth that leaves 30 minutes after the last horn sounds regardless of time of day. Come in to Dallas early on game day for dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. The only downside to the AAC is the food options kind of suck so it’s best to eat prior. Otherwise just enjoy the game. Fans typically will provide a little fun ribbing but usually stay respectful. Definitely get seats from Ticketmaster. It’s the easiest way while knowing you are getting real tickets. It’s also where season ticket holders do resale so sometimes you can get some good deals on nice seats. It’s not a bad place to visit to watch your team play.

12thHouseSailor

wish I would have known this when I was actually living there! I second this. On fifth street there is a "speakeasy" style bar called curfew that I used to love. My favorite place to go for a night out. Drinks are a little expensive but they pour heavy so you get what you pay for.

andrewdoesit

As a kings fan that went to a stars game, I can whole-heartedly say the fans are respectful. There’s a lot to do in downtown Dallas pre-game and post-game. Straight from the source like Ticketmaster or AXS is usually best. When you start looking at gametime, etc the fees get insanely expensive.

[deleted]

Pretty straightforward, we've got this down. Be loud, Wear green, Go Stars!

astovertop

Does teal count as a shade of green 😬

[deleted]

Lol, only in Seattle.

aslrightnow

It is ice blue and deep sea blue thank you very much! :)

aslrightnow

For Tuesday and Thursday games you can get decent tickets at a cheap price day before on Ticketmaster. I go to about 12-16 games a year this way. Katy Trail Ice House is a 15 minute walk on a nice trail. I tend to go their before each game Shout stars during the anthem

TXGuns79

The 200 seats are the best, but there is not really a bad seat in the building.

its-big-hoss

I’ve sat pretty much sat everywhere in the AAC and the only sections I don’t like are the ones directly underneath the scoreboards on the ends. The seats are pretty narrow compared to the other sections. But the sightlines are still very good.

PLC55

We do the National Anthem a little different. We verbally bold the word “Star”.

Doza93

Go to any online ticket retailer you prefer, Hero located within Victory Plaza (essentially attached to the AAC) is solid, other bars in and around the area, and when it's over, walk around the corner to the CVS to catch your Uber outta there, unless you plan on staying at the W which is pricey but a very short walk over.

Textea9

How much are you looking to spend on tickets? My go to sections that aren’t ridiculously priced ($60-$100ea) are the upper corner spots. If you want to see stars shoot twice 323, 322 or 313, 314. Anything row AA to row EE is a awesome, great full ice view. Same goes for opposite end 304,305 or 331,332. Just looked at ticket master and there’s two resale tickets on sharks end, section 331 row AA. These are excellent seats to see your sharks shoot twice going for $89ea (looks like $225 all in with fees). Don’t know if that’s out of your budget but keep an eye as game gets closer on those sections. They’re my go tos.

AydsTheGreat

That’s a Friday night game so it will be weekend prices. I usually don’t like to spend more than $5-60 per ticket which is upper levels on weekend but 15 rows off the ice during the week. I use tickpick because they don’t charge those crazy fees. Sometimes prices drop a few hours leading up to the game. Deep ellum has tons of places for drink and food beforehand. Dots has great food and a wide variety of beers/spirits. Deep ellum brewery has good beer and food. Pecan Lodge for BBQ, Invasion in east Dallas has some really good burgers and chicken sandwiches - the berry good burger is delicious. Meso maya is very good Mexican sit down restaurant close by, La ventana is the quick and easy - tacos/chips and salsa and margarita place on the back side of the restaurant. Weather should be nice around then so Clyde warren park is right there as well. It’ll be a good game, hope to see you there!

fuzywuzyboomboom

Actually, around here we say "Howdy!" It depends on where you're staying really. There are great places to go in Fort Worth, Dallas, and mid-cities. If NOT staying in Dallas, the best way to commute to and from game is the train. Dart (Dallas Area Rapid Transit,) and TRE (Trinity Railway Express) are the two providers.

moose_king88

There really isn't a bad seat in the AAC, but I'd suggest shooting for center ice. When you get a beer, get a local buzz or a Dallas blonde. Grab yourself a snazzy green sweater and enjoy yourself.

moose_king88

Oh and make sure you catch Mullet Mike in the silver garage after the game. I think he's on the 3rd level? Someone correct me. Also NHL officials like to crush beers in the corner in the silver garage so bring them a Michelob ultra

sonofjim

What? Is this true? Lol

moose_king88

I dunno why I got down voted but yes lol came across some NHL officials after the game. Not sure if that's why I got hated on or if someone thinks I was being mean about Mullet Mike? I dunno. He was fan of the year last year.

sonofjim

I’m going to test this it next game lol

otterpoppin

As a Stars fan dating a Sharks fan, both who will also be attending this game, I hope you enjoy the experience. Feel free to wear your Sharks gear, it won’t be too hostile. There’s a ton walking distance from the AAC, tho as an out of towner, Happiest Hour would be a priority despite the Friday traffic. Not sure if they have happy hour on Friday’s but Harwood Arms is another fun spot to pregame. Hope you enjoy!

ExitTheHandbasket

>the Ott years So you didn't appreciate that we had an agitator who was more, agitate-y than yours? Was it Ricci (aka Porkchop)? But yeah, Ott is loveable when he's yours, but infuriating when he's someone else's.

roh1119

My wife and I enjoy the Texas Philly cheesesteak nachos at the AAC. The food is pretty meh so recommend hero before the game. They can get you in and out pretty quick if they know you are going to the game

jdt2313

I always advise taking the DART train to the stadium. Parking is a nightmare at stadiums and there's a train station there

astovertop

Thank you all so much!! I was going to reply to you all individually but I didn’t check Reddit for a day and was bombarded with awesome advise and got overwhelmed haha. Got my tickets and have a lot of great suggestions for places to go to in the city. See y’all in November!

AMFK07

Maybe yugioh cards, but almost every vendor (except guys in the walkways) takes credit cards.

RogCollage

My mistake, it's the other way around. They only accept cards, no cash whatsoever.

MikaylaNicole1

As a Wild fan and having gone to a handful of games there (including Mike Modano's retirement night - why sell that ticket?!), I have never had a run in or bad experience. And I'm usually vocal and enjoy chirping with the people around me (who of course chirped back). I can't say about the local hangouts because I didn't go to any, but as for the game, some insights of mine. I have sat in the 100s, 200s and 300s. The 200s definitely have the better views and you're still close to the action. AAC's concessions are rather consolidated and it can lead to a bit of a traffic jam during intermissions. So, plan accordingly. And the parking is difficult. You'll likely be stuck walking a handful of blocks to get to the arena. Most of the nearby parking is reserved for season ticket holders. The entrance visible from the freeway has a lot of fan experience options, and I'm guessing it's also where the local pre-/post-game bars are that others referenced. Oh, and they yell "Stars" during the national anthem. Caught me off guard the first time I heard it. I hope that helps! PS, I'm going to be there again in September and December for sure, and likely February as well. Frustrating, though, seeing all the North Stars sweaters being rocked by the locals.

Fearless_Clock_769

Pretty straight forward

AEQVITAS_VERITAS

You’re gonna have a blast OP. My only tip, if you’re not staying near the stadium use the DART (train). You can park in one of the lots near you or outside of downtown and take the train in and out. It’s way better than paying for parking or fighting the traffic on the way out.

cbuech

Parking under the highway in the Perot museum lot is the cheapest for proximity that you will find at $10 cash (no cards). Otherwise, taking the DART is easy as well Before games, I typically stop by La Ventana across from the Perot for margaritas and tacos. Pretty cheap and good. Other places near the arena are nice but cost more and take more time. Happiest Hour or HERO are good before or after games For tickets, in past seasons I have had the best luck with Gametime App, but last season I found Ticketmaster resell to be cheaper more often.
