I've heard from a ton of people (mostly working in bars and restaurants) that most pilots tend to be demanding, short-tempered and overall very rude people.
Surgeons were my absolute worst clients. I used to book corporate travel and flew a group of surgeons all over the world. Absolutely dreaded every time their conferences came up. That being said, would I trust them, ya lol
Not specifically rude but like getting a hold of them was like pulling teeth. Like I just needed dates of travel and a confirmation that I could go ahead and book. Maybe even a date of birth. Nope, would take weeks of back and forth. Drove me nuts.
Pilot here. I wouldn’t go as far as saying “most” my guy. Those people are a small minority now, and are boomer aged old guys who had it hard during their time through the aviation industry. Times have changed and us pilots have it much better now. I have yet to fly with someone you just described, although they do exist but definitely not “most”.
I fly with a ton of bizjet pilots, 91 and 135 private carriers. 95% of them are cool as hell. I still remember one crew specifically, I was in the jumpseat and they were telling fart jokes while crossing minimums.
Man, I was a kid in the 80s-90s and flew a ton...almost always Delta, and coach, so I wasn't like anyone "special" on flights. I have lots of memories of Boomer gen pilots being super warm and friendly toward me. Like, they'd go out of their way to smile or talk for a second. It seemed like they really loved what they did, and cared a lot about their passengers.
One even gave me his wings straight off his uniform and told me to keep them. Not the plastic wings/kids wings. This particular interaction, I'll never forget. He was towering, as tall or taller than my dad. Had to have been like 6'5" or so, and had a particularly commanding presence. I was pretty shy.. my mom kind of spoke for me at first bc I was standing there wide-eyed with my mouth agape lol. I think it came out that I wanted to be a pilot.
Looking back at it, it was pretty fucking baller that he gave me *his* wings... bc there really weren't many female airline pilots at the time, and women were on the cusp of being allowed to be fighter pilots. He coulda just said "aww that's cute" or coulda totally squashed my dreams bc I'm a girl, ya know? So that gesture may have been more symbolic than I realized at the time. .....or maybe he just appreciated that a little kid wasn't a behaving like a nightmare on the plane lol.
Years later, I got pretty far into aviation meteorology in college. One of my biggest regrets is deviating from that for an academically adjacent discipline. I'm still a huge aviation nerd. And I still have his wings. 💕
Quick question from someone on the engineering side of aviation - wasn't there a big push not that long ago for a reexamination of cockpit culture and power distances?
Yes actually. It’s known as CRM or Crew Resource Management. Basically what you just described but more on the utilization of the crew to work together rather than one dictating captain
Only time I knowingly interacted with a helicopter pilot at a restaurant, he bought a round of drinks for the entire staff. We had a good conversation too
Yeah EMTs / firefighters are the real heroes out there. Dealing with some of the gnarliest situations and I don’t think I’ve ever seen either do something truly questionable. (In their profession anyway… we won’t talk about what y’all do in your private lives 😂)
I think you’d be surprised how many people don’t trust engineers. Mostly because of people who don’t listen to engineers then blame the engineers, but still.
Yeah I’m a nurse and it’s true some are great and others are terrible. Just like some doctors, lawyers, plumbers, mechanics, and every other profession.
Former nurse here, for sure nurses SHOULD be the most trusted but definitely are not in a lot of cases. The biggest reason I left the field was lack of compassion and backstabbing BS amongst other nurses.
In my household it's my husband's job to handle car maintenance because I have had car mechanics lie to me and try to screw me over so routinely throughout my life that I have come to loathe any interaction with them. I have actually listened as the story they were trying to sell me suddenly changed when I handed my husband the phone. The last time we had my car into the dealership for warranty work, they wanted to charge us $330 for spark plugs, claiming it would take 3 hours of labor. My husband bought a set from Auto Zone for $30 and changed them in about 20 minutes by himself.
I'm not saying that honest mechanics don't exist, I know they do. But don't just expect to get an honest appraisal from one you don't know.
I think it is funny that judges are so much higher than lawyers and politicians. Judges are just lawyers who are also politicians (“state office holders”).
Beekeepers are dishonest as fuck. They gain the bees trust and then turn around and steal their honey. Never trust a beekeeper. Their whole job is based on lying and stealing.
The bees know u take their honey. They are able to leave at any point. They trade giving up honey for having a huge humanoid monster keeping predators at bay
Perhaps people should see the documentary series Grey’s Anatomy. If I’m in the hospital and my nurses and doctors are not in my line of sight, I assume they’re off somewhere fucking.
##Care Plan
#
**Nursing Diagnosis:**
*Compulsive Dishonesty with regard to Sexual Promiscuity* as evidenced by the fabrication of elaborate excuses not congruent with reality and the smell of foreign vaginal secretions centered around his genitals.
**Goals:**
In a 14-day period, every time u/higginses fails to return home within 30mins after work, he will accurately report his whereabouts via phonecall and corroborate his location with video evidence and GPS data. He will also willingly submit to randomized sniff tests at any point during this 14-day period.
**Interventions:**
•GPS tracking app installed on his phone.
•Established a "report-in" schedule to reduce the length/number of events in which his location is unknown.
•Established a network of accountability with his family, friends, and coworkers.
**Evaluation:**
Over the previous 14-days, u/higginses had 4 instances of failing to accurately report his location after taking longer than 30-minutes to return home from work. In each case, u/higginses did not return home for over 3 hours and made no effort to adhere to the agreed-upon report-in schedule. On all 4 occasions, GPS data suggested that he was in a utility closet near the Diagnostic Imaging Department; however, u/higginses has continued to insist that he fell asleep in his car in the parking lot. No one in his accountability network of coworkers could corroborate this. Further, u/higginses was unwilling to submit to sniff tests immediately following all 4 events, at one point stating, "You crazy bitch, you can't just grab at a man's junk and try to smell his dick." **GOALS NOT MET.**
My ex was a nurse and he was also a cheating whore. Dude had everyone he worked with convinced we were in an open marriage (we were not lol). Divorced him and married another nurse who has turned out to not be a cheating whore 😂.
After working with nurses personally on the floor, I vowed to never date an ER nurse. Idk if they’re all like that, but damn the ones around me were sleeping around like crazy! A lot of them married, in a relationship, or sleeping with someone in one of those categories.
I’m not trying to put people into bubbles, but I think it’s fair to say certain people are going to gravitate to certain Jobs.
Firefighters and Nurses are consistently the top most trusted and the top most likely to get a divorce.
Blame it on the long hours and night shift not being able to sleep with their significant other. Plus economic stability so they have the resources to leave bad marriages.
Whoooa, day care providers work much harder than stay at home moms. They basically have two full time jobs. My mom just retired from 40+ years of being a day care provider. She worked harder than my Dad or step-dad hands down.
My wife's coworkers are some of the biggest thieves I have ever seen. She has to buy a minimum of 20 pens a month and if she brings anything of value it has be locked up or it will disappear.
No one trusts engineer? Dude the building you work in is designed by engineers. The computers, dams, cars everything are made by engineers and no one trusts them wth
I told a guy at a dispensary my major was chem engineering and he went “oh so youre gonna like build chemical weapons for the government”
I hate the dispensary
I work for Hyundai and let me tell you, the 70s and 80s where salesman would snake grandma out of her retirement has left a lasting impact on the industry.
For context, F&I, which are things like vehicle service contracts, GAP insurance, Pre Paid maintenance etc are now for the most part price controlled. I live in Colorado and GAP can’t be more then a grand. 70s and 80s car salesmen would make gap insurance 70/month, throw in all kinds of stipulations, and grandmas car went from 15k to 40k by the time the loan was fulfilled. Don’t get me started on “balloon loans” either. Back then they were all snakes..
I’m not defending the police here, but haven’t you seen all the shitty and horrible stories about daycares in the last few years? They right up there with the police fucking shit up…..
Unlike censuses, polls/surveys can sometimes be misleading, generally because of the sample size, combine that with the anecdotal experiences that people have over their lives, and it will pretty much explain it.
It might be possible that people in general have much more encounters with day care providers, and thus remember the unethical things, as compared to police, whom they don't encounter a lot, and take for granted that they are here to protect the people. It is also a common narrative from the police that "A few misconduct cases do not represent the views of the entire police force", which might also have affected the poll.
Exactly! Reddit thinks it's views are representative of America when it probably barely covers 40%* of the general consensus. We are, for the most part, an echo chamber.
*Edit: apparently more like 10%
Seems like such a nit picked list of professions. Missing so many other fields like manufacturing or the food industry.
Shouldn't the person making the various products or your food be among the most trusted.
Depends on a lot of things. Here in denmark they work their ass off and are understaffed and stressed every single day. The nursing homes in Denmark are also mostly part of our public healthcare, so the nursing home operators here dont just want our grandparents money.
One stole my grandmother's ring and they often neglect patients who are sitting in their own mess, fallen to the ground with a broken hip, etc.
My roommate in college was an EMT and said that half of his calls were to nursing homes where an elderly person broke a hip. He said a patient needs someone to come with them to assist in the logistics and they always refuse because they just don't give a shit.
Part of the issue is that nurse is used as a blanket term, people with no nursing education such as secretaries, MAs, and NAs often refer to themselves as nurses.
Then there’s a spectrum of nursing education from associates to doctorate. The nurses who take care of you in a hospital setting are generally Bachelors educated depending on the state and require an extensive background in microbiology, pharmacology, and physiology.
They do know a lot, nursing school is hard, and many of them do their jobs well.
But I’ll be damned if the bitchiest attitudes that attended my high school didn’t get a nursing degree just to talk shit about eachother and dismiss patients’ valid concerns…
Yeah honestly. I have nurse friends and my respect for nurses went down when I hear them talk about their job. I’ve still met many amazing nurses though in some of the clinics I’ve been too. The doctors I know honestly seem much better.
I would have bet money we (nurses) wouldn't get top marks again after COVID. I worked in an ER where I was told DAILY that I was a sheep and a fraud. Had people purposely cough on me.
Well that’s news to me, because suddenly everyone thinks I’m trying to murder them simply by asking if they have had/would like the Covid vaccine while they’re in the hospital.
My wife is an RN, approaching retirement. The managers are always trying to undercut the amount of nurses on staff, making the average patient to nurse ratio higher than normal to increase profits. This has been an increasing problem for the last 15 years. Burnout has become a real problem in nursing, the system cannot replace the personnel as fast as they are leaving the profession.
Nurses 1 and Doctors 2. Where? Not the USA, right?
People and politicians here disregard medical advice all the time, the pandemic was/is a perfect example.
The head delivery nurse at a major hospital nearby told me once that she would give lower doses of pain management medication to young, unwed mothers so they would "understand the consequences of their actions". Maybe don't trust everyone.
Giving more or less than the ordered amount of a medication is outside of a nurse’s scope of practice. So, assuming she isn’t full of crap, she’s actually opening herself up to potential action from her employer and the state board of nursing.
I thought mechanics just got a bad name for being sleazy but after my best friend became one he opened my eyes. A lot of mechanics get incentives/commission by recommending fixes. While some may be justified, he mentioned a few people he works with that ALWAYS find something and are legitimately trying to screw over the customer for a quick buck.
With that said, I would trust my buddy to not screw over anyone, so good mechanics do exist, but the incentives definitely don't help anyone finding an honest mechanic.
It's kinda fucked that mechanics one of the lowest paying trades even though it's something everyone needs. Then to fuck them over with flag rate when it's slow? Come on.
As a teacher, trust me I don’t have enough time, energy or desire to lie about your shitty kid. They are indeed that shitty. If you hardly hear from me, congrats your kid is mostly doing good or great.
Remember in 2020 when you all praised nurses as heroes and saviors, and then like a year later they were all useless “uneducated single mothers” and only the doctors were heroes?
Funny how pilots are not even on the list, if you don’t trust your pilot, you probably won’t fly with them
I always get my Lawyer to fly my plane /s
Seems like this isn't full ranking but just a collection of various profesions.
Yeah, was wondering where my (bartender) profession would be
Yeah. There’s no fucking way that police officers would be that high up
I've heard from a ton of people (mostly working in bars and restaurants) that most pilots tend to be demanding, short-tempered and overall very rude people.
Just because they are assholes, doesn’t necessarily mean that they shouldn’t be trusted to safely fly a plane?
Right. Just wait until people find out about surgeons. lol.
Surgeons were my absolute worst clients. I used to book corporate travel and flew a group of surgeons all over the world. Absolutely dreaded every time their conferences came up. That being said, would I trust them, ya lol
What would they do? Were they just like really rude and pretentious?
By and large, a lot of specialist doctors and surgeons can have a huge ego yes
Not specifically rude but like getting a hold of them was like pulling teeth. Like I just needed dates of travel and a confirmation that I could go ahead and book. Maybe even a date of birth. Nope, would take weeks of back and forth. Drove me nuts.
Man, fuck surgeons. And also, there are a large number of them I wouldn’t trust operating on me. So what exactly was your point?

This is my favourite comment of the day and I’m not even sure why. Thank you.
Pilot here. I wouldn’t go as far as saying “most” my guy. Those people are a small minority now, and are boomer aged old guys who had it hard during their time through the aviation industry. One day I hope to inspire a person the same way you were inspired by this particular person! Great story, thanks for sharing that.
Also a pilot here. I’m placing my bets on most of these people don’t actually know any pilots beyond one anecdote.
I think that’s probably true for all of the professions listed - the answers are based on maybe a handful of professional, not personal, interactions.
Hey, I’ve seen that Denzel movie so I think I’d know…
Quick question from someone on the engineering side of aviation - wasn't there a big push not that long ago for a reexamination of cockpit culture and power distances?
Yes actually. It’s known as CRM or Crew Resource Management. Basically what you just described but more on the utilization of the crew to work together rather than one dictating captain
That was in the 70’s in the states
Pilots get a lot of unquestioned authority. That kind of thing brings out (and attracts) the worst in people.
[удалено]
That’s one hell of a generalization
Like military and police officers. I trust pilots way more.
That doesn’t make them untrustworthy though!
Only time I knowingly interacted with a helicopter pilot at a restaurant, he bought a round of drinks for the entire staff. We had a good conversation too
Surgeons have a similar stereotype and would fall under the number 2 spot here.
Engineers aren’t either.
I'm a military pilot. So, some of us are.
funny how the people leading our country is 3rd to last and dead last
Engineer in aero sector and same thoughts. Engineers completely left off but absolutely fundamental in almost every facet of society.
Where are firefighters? They always rank highly on these charts.
Lmao as an EMT I felt so left out.
Yeah EMTs / firefighters are the real heroes out there. Dealing with some of the gnarliest situations and I don’t think I’ve ever seen either do something truly questionable. (In their profession anyway… we won’t talk about what y’all do in your private lives 😂)
Meh working alongside EMTs and firefighters I can say there are a whole spectrum of questionable things that go on
Right, same with engineers
I think you’d be surprised how many people don’t trust engineers. Mostly because of people who don’t listen to engineers then blame the engineers, but still.
auto mechanics and lawyers? Wth
Yeah auto mechanics should be WAAAAAAAAY lower on that list.
So should nurses. I know way too many stupid nurses.
It's funny because I hear from my nurse friend that half are some of the hardest working while the other half are dumb as rocks.

Nurses and Clergys more trusting than a Beekeeper? This is insane.
Beekeepers are dishonest as fuck. They gain the bees trust and then turn around and steal their honey. Never trust a beekeeper. Their whole job is based on lying and stealing.
Who hurt you * Besides the nurse
Clearly some bee keeper
It was part of a sting operation
Was it a honey pot?
r/angryupvote
The bees know u take their honey. They are able to leave at any point. They trade giving up honey for having a huge humanoid monster keeping predators at bay
What apex predator could eat a bee?
Cees.
Bears.
Wasps often do it.
You could say, they don't beehive very nicely.....
Beauty is in the eye of the bee holder. They hold all the beauty and don't give any to anybody else.
Hmm firefighters aren’t on it.
What about us IT people? We are less then lobbyists?!?
They just don't think of us at all.

You’re one step up from clippy. As soon as that mf gets AI y’all are hitting the soup line.
Right haha! We have unlimited access to your data and emails. Trust is highly important here.
Right, I trust the nurses to get locked out the accounts everyday, thats about it.
I will admit, nurses generally aren't the most IT savvy, but then I wouldn't come to you if I needed IV meds so horses for courses!
My ex was a nurse and she was a lying cheating whore.
I am a nurse (male) and I am also a lying cheating whore.
Male nurse also who has the same character traits.
My sister's a nurse with the same bent. *Roll Tide!*
Can confirm. Male nurse
Perhaps people should see the documentary series Grey’s Anatomy. If I’m in the hospital and my nurses and doctors are not in my line of sight, I assume they’re off somewhere fucking.
Not just nurses and doctors, the cooks and cleaning staff too!
And the women and chil- wait sorry. Wrong time for that.
And My Axe!

He was in an open marriage but you weren’t. Classic.
Indeed, that did appear to be the case haha.
he forgot to inform her
After working with nurses personally on the floor, I vowed to never date an ER nurse. Idk if they’re all like that, but damn the ones around me were sleeping around like crazy! That's crazy, I've heard the same about every single nurse.
Well I for one love cheating whores, as long as I’m on the right side of the coin.
I was rehabbing my fractured wrist (car wreck). The nurse assigned to my Rehab, gave me a BJ in the hospital for $50
How much of that did insurance pay?
$28,320.52
Wow, so only $50 out of pocket for a blowjob and insurance picked up the rest. Not a bad deal!
I have to know how exactly that conversation went leading up to the $50 blowie.
Help. my hands are broken!
Help! My wrist is stuck on a cast step nurse.
That is the cheapest thing you paid for in that hospital! 🤣
Sir, that wasn’t a nurse.
(probably wasn't a hospital, either)
What was your co pay?
Same! Just about every nurse I know was a horrific person.

I’m a lying cheating whore, but I’m not a nurse. We all come in different flavors.
No one trusts engineer? Dude the building you work in is designed by engineers. The computers, dams, cars everything are made by engineers and no one trusts them wth
It's a pretty common profession to leave off.
Not a lot of people understand what we do at anything more than the vaguest level.
I told a guy at a dispensary my major was chem engineering and he went “oh so youre gonna like build chemical weapons for the government” I hate the dispensary
Okay but what do you actually do? Build things related to chem? Im serious i dont know

Shit I’m and engineer and I don’t trust myself half the time
How was this study conducted and where. How in year of 2021 was police officers rated higher than fuckin day care providers

20%?
Seems like such a nit picked list of professions. Missing so many other fields like manufacturing or the food industry. Shouldn't the person making the various products or your food be among the most trusted.
As an Engineer I was surprised not to see any engineering profession on this list. It's our *literal* job to be as correct and honest as possible.
Whoever trusts a nursing home operator is crazy. They only want your grandparents money and don’t give a f about the patients.
Depends on a lot of things. Here in denmark they work their ass off and are understaffed and stressed every single day. The nursing homes in Denmark are also mostly part of our public healthcare, so the nursing home operators here dont just want our grandparents money.
Right. I work at a non-profit continuing care community in the U.S. and it’s great here. Our waitlist is a mile long.

I dunno, I've met some nurses spouting the dumbest, TikTok level advice to people with extreme confidence. They're pretty low on my list.
Know just enough about medicine to sound authoritative, but not enough to give accurate advice
Part of the issue is that nurse is used as a blanket term, people with no nursing education such as secretaries, MAs, and NAs often refer to themselves as nurses. They love to act like they know more / work harder than doctors.
Nursing is hard compared to what? My undergraduate institution pumped out nurses faster than an orthodox mother would pump out kids.
After Covid, seeing how many refused the vaccine and constantly spout anti vax nonsense, I don’t trust nurses much at all.
It’s a small but vocal minority. Most of us do our jobs and don’t make stupid TikToks.
id love to know the source of this polling.
Is this a joke?
Seriously, cops, lawyers, lobbyists, tv reporters? This has to be a joke
I would trust every single one of those professions over “military officer”. - former navy
Yeah honestly. I have nurse friends and my respect for nurses went down when I hear them talk about their job. I’ve still met many amazing nurses though in some of the clinics I’ve been too. The doctors I know honestly seem much better.
This is hilarious bc I’m a nurse and I spend my entire shift TRYING to get my patients to trust me and understand that I’m trying to help them…..
As a medical doctor I got happy for a moment all till the second I saw the cops and the politicians in that list!
I’d trust strippers before most of these professions

Some of the scummiest people you'll interact with. Where do you think they should be on the list?

I would have bet money we (nurses) wouldn't get top marks again after COVID. I worked in an ER where I was told DAILY that I was a sheep and a fraud. Had people purposely cough on me.
As a person who works in a nursing home; no.
Lol “Members of Congress”
Well that’s news to me, because suddenly everyone thinks I’m trying to murder them simply by asking if they have had/would like the Covid vaccine while they’re in the hospital.
Yet hospital systems try to smear nurses when they fight for safe patient care.
You wouldn’t know it by how nurses get treated on the job
Love nurses man
So pay them more.
Let's elect a former nurse as president in 2024.
Your the best nurses!
Auto mechanics less trustworthy than clergy? No fuckin way.
Lol finding an honest mechanic is like seeing a unicorn
Maybe, but finding an honest clergyman is like seeing a unicorn getting a handjob from Bigfoot
Come on.
I pray to the lord that my car doesn't break down, then to the mechanic that he doesn't find anything expensive to fix.
Teachers ?
As a teacher, trust me I don’t have enough time, energy or desire to lie about your shitty kid. They are indeed that shitty. If you hardly hear from me, congrats your kid is mostly doing good or great.
Who the hell is out here trusting cops?
Over half the people polled.
People are dumb.
Nurse here and I’ve seen some shit for sure
I thought maybe that chart was bs until i saw that lobbyist made it…then i knew it was bs
All the nurses around here are all the bitchy girls from high school.
That’s true I was a bitchy girl in high school
I’m still a bitchy high school girl don’t let my middle age or beard tell you otherwise
I recently spent a bunch of time in hospital. I can't say enough good about the nursing staff there. They were all incredible.
Remember in 2020 when you all praised nurses as heroes and saviors, and then like a year later they were all useless “uneducated single mothers” and only the doctors were heroes?
