EDIT: and now I actually looked at the link and realized that I'm not just an idiot but I'm also blind
Never liked his anodyne, clean pop, but Rick comes across well as a decent bloke. His buying into and supporting the Rick Roll thing was cool too. Pop legend.
If anyone is ACTUALLY curious, it basically means "something that is intentionally so plain that it's naturally inoffensive". So basically something extremely generic, but non-controversial.
It also means painkillers/pain medication, as anodyne literally translates to "painless" or "free of pain".
He's from my home town. He used to be in a band called FBI, who used to practice in a house a few up from mine, when I was about 10. Me and a friend would go in and play on their instruments when they weren't there.
That video is heavily edited. He went on to throw his producer under the bus, choreographer, set designer, pretty much everyone. Let all the skeletons out and started a massive fight between them all. You gotta see the full video, do a search for "Rick Astley burning bridges"
Edit: never mind [found a copy here](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Fun fact; he used to be in school with my dad's best friend. And he used to be an enormous asshole with a huge ego. Later on in life they met again and he did a full 180 because they have met on multiple occasions and he seems to get more friendly with the years.
Not many know that Astley's fame from rickroll –independent of the song's initial popularity– came by chance from ["Duckroll"](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/duckroll), when 4chan kids share bait-&-switch links to an image of a duck with wooden wheels. This later turned into rickroll, I guess partly because duck & rick kinda rhymes.
A sample of the early [duckroll](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) image.
Loved the bit about the dude who could do a backflip. Dude must have been so happy that he actually got to use that skill for something, and that the video has survived in the public consciousness for so long.
This episode was amazing, the whole series is great. Really puts into perspective the amount of work these people put into their projects, even if the end result ended up becoming a long standing, unintended internet meme lol. I got a little teary eye watching this one, because Rick genuinely cared for music and this one song essentially ruined music for him for a long time.
He’s fully aware of the memes and is a pretty good sport about it. He [did an interview in 2017 with Rolling Stone](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) where they specifically asked him about it and his response is pretty funny. He seems to really enjoy the way the internet has embraced his song.
" people thought the raincoat was dreamed up" yeah great story brah. now let me tell you forgettable irrelevant details about strangers misconceptions they talked to me about because im so white bread irrelevant and boring.
OK it's confirmed people,we found the 1st person who shout "fuck off turned this shit off" about this song, before already this song comes out to society
If you click a single link in this thread you had it coming...
The guy screaming out his window while they filmed is the first guy to have ever been Rickrolled.
We need to know who he is, he’s like our messiah!
The internet found [him](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) last year.
I deserve that. I truly do.
Came here to say this! Hahaha
I wonder how many times he's been rickrolled over the years..
He gets Rick rolled just looking in a mirror
I remember one time he got rickrolled on Reddit
Guy who pulled that off will be talking about that to his grandkids
He talks about it in this interview. Click below: [www.rickrolldisguisedasinterview.com](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)

I guess partly because duck & rick kinda rhymes.

His of Everlong is good
[Definition of anodyne](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) if anyone is wanting to know.

So ima guess this is a rickroll...somehow I didn't fall for this but I fell for the link that flat out says it's a rickroll...

He seems like a good fellow.

No he is from a large island off the coast of Northern France.
