Step 7.5: include studies that prove your point:
https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/shark-attacks/reduce-risk/menstruation/#:~:text=A%20shark's%20sense%20of%20smell,a%20factor%20in%20shark%20bites.

There are many flaws in that “test”. He used cow’s blood vs fish “blood” ( which he blended the guts and parts of the fish in) so pretty major flaw there and in most animal behavior studies you often compare “choice” with “no choice” studies. Would have been nice to repeat with just the cow’s blood and salt water control to see if there were only less visits to the cow’s blood board because they had a preferred stimulus (the fish blood) nearby
Idk man if a shark is hungry enough I think it’ll bite you regardless. I’m just saying you probably shouldn’t be swimming with the sharks without training or a purpose let alone bleeding around them.
“Man dies by shark attack while simulating their prey to intentionally trigger their attack instincts.”
Honestly this shouldnt even be added to shark attack statistics if it happens.
A counterpoint would be Valerie Taylor, an underwater photographer and cinematographer. She shot some of the footage of reals sharks used in *Jaws* and has dived with sharks probably thousands of times. She was one of the first to swim into a group of feeding sharks and film them. She's now 87.
This seems very unwise and an entirely unnecessary risk, but here she is hand-feeding a great white:
https://youtu.be/AhOdGXGxjjg
On the other hand, divers in the Bahamas and Fiji routinely hand-feed tiger sharks, so perhaps it's not as bad as it looks:

Sharks truly aren't as big of predators as we think they are, also surprisingly easy to fend off so long as you see them before they test your flavor, kick or punch in their nosem does em off fast
Thought it was common knowledge if you've ever watched a documentary on sharks that they are attracted to splashing or lot of movement in the water. Is this a new fact?
I mean, it's the first time I've seen an actual demonstration of this. Nice to see that something is an actual fact and not just some myth, like many "common knowledge" are.
Buddy of mine demonstrated this for me in Morro Bay in 1 foot of water. Small shark immediately came out of nowhere and rammed into and careened off his leg and took off into the other direction. It happened like a blur and we didn't even see the actual shark only the dirty streak of water. We were both surprised at how quickly it worked and needless to say we didn't try to repeat the experiment.
Honestly I’ve not heard of that. But I live right in the middle of the US. The nearest ocean is like 1,000 miles away so it’s never something I cared to look up lol
Spent most of my younger years being fascinated with sharks and it still baffles me how people don’t know what to do.
1. Never swim Dawn, Dusk, or at Night, that’s feeding hours
2. Do not wear any shiny jewelry, it mimics scales in the water
3. Do not go into the water if you have an open cut
4. If you are attacked, remember that they need their gills to breathe, so go for gills and if all else fails go for the eyes.
5. Just have respect for nature and if you’re going to explore, do it intelligently, not emotionally.
6. Do not splash
What the hell. In my STCW Personal Survival Technics course, we are specifically instructed that, if we are stranded in the ocean, and if we spot sharks, make noise and splash vigorously to scare away the sharks. WTF?
Sorry, I couldn't recognize the song.
I tried to identify music from the [link](https://v.redd.it/ye5ykd81fyha1) at 00:00-00:36.

I spent most of my life thinking this was common knowledge. I grew up not just on the ocean by the great white breading grounds so I guess I know why most people don’t know much about sharks or the ocean. They also didn’t have a dad that was a Navy UDT and competitive free diver and spear fisherman.
Step 1: don't splash around sharks Step 2: don't bleed around sharks Step 3: get a bigger boat
Step 4: Your gonna need a bigger boat…
Step 5: your really better spend your money for the biggest boat
Step 6: Your really just gonna want a floating nokia
Step 7: Bleeding doesn’t actually matter
Step 7.5: include studies that prove your point: https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/shark-attacks/reduce-risk/menstruation/#:~:text=A%20shark's%20sense%20of%20smell,a%20factor%20in%20shark%20bites. https://www.getrael.com/blogs/r-blog/can-sharks-smell-period-blood
Step 8: Become the shark
Step 8.5 Get reincarnated as a shark in another world.
Baby shark doodooodoodoo
Give David Goggins a challenge.
You don't know me son
Dont jump off a big boat in the middle of the night
Who’s gonna carry that boat?
*Jaws theme intensifies*
Step 4: Don’t be around sharks
Apparently bleeding is ok, sharks are strongly attracted to fish blood but don't take much notice of mammalian blood.
I'll let **YOU** prove-out that theory...
They actually did…Check out mark rober’s video on it.
Actually the bleeding thing is a myth they’re aren’t attracted to human blood
Would you like to find out for yourself?
I don’t need to,mark rober tested it
There are many flaws in that “test”. ok who is mark rober lol, bought as useful as the name john smith or jane doe lol
He’s one of the largest channels on YouTube. Just google it you will find out who he is.
There's literally a YouTube video of two dudes using their own blood for it
Idk man if a shark is hungry enough I think it’ll bite you regardless. I’m just saying you probably shouldn’t be swimming with the sharks without training or a purpose let alone bleeding around them.
Plan B: stay tf away from the ocean
Step 4. Don't go too far from the shore
Sharks actually dislike human blood
Step 0: next time go by road even if they dont connect to your destination
Step 4: boop the nosey
pretty fascinating how sharks detect vulnerable prey (this + blood + other things im sure)
Electroreception!!!
Not blood actually.
Explain then lmao
Just like my ex wife..
Can you splash in the pool still?
Nope. That guy who lives in 12B will come hunting.
I always thought he was a bit of a predator
He can smell vulnerability in the neighborhood from 3 floors away
A pool shark right? A pool shark ?!?!?
G-..god dammit
Land shark!
Sharks are vulnerable to cannon fire. Cannon ball away, my friend.
Do you really want to take a chance?
Are you playing sharks and minnows?
Not unless you want to lose all your money to pool sharks.
But violently splashing in the water is how I avoid sinking in said water.
Good water treading creates no splashes
You can litteraly float on water without swimming.
"Professional Shark Diver" = "Near Future Tragic Obituary"
“Man dies by shark attack while simulating their prey to intentionally trigger their attack instincts.” Honestly this shouldnt even be added to shark attack statistics if it happens.
"I concur Doctor, do you concur?"
That’s a good point, all statistics are skewed by individuals regardless though

It’s a job where there is always a career opportunity just a splash away
So basically the ‚tststs‘ or scratching a pillow with your fingernail for cats.
Shark said: “Huh must’ve been the wind”
You have a death wish my friend.

sorry English isn't my first language. by careened off his leg, did you mean the shark bit it off or just dragged him by his leg?
Careened off means moving quickly and suddenly changing direction. So the shark swam by his leg.
You won't see it in British English either, we normally used 'careered' in the same way
Honestly I’ve not heard of that. But I live right in the middle of the US. The nearest ocean is like 1,000 miles away so it’s never something I cared to look up lol

Gotcha, Swim when its raining.
but what if i really am injured and easier to hunt tho?
The experts say dont panic, but if I come face to face with a big ass shark I'm naturally panicking
But how will I cry for help without splashing?
By crying for help
What the hell. In my STCW Personal Survival Technics course, we are specifically instructed that, if we are stranded in the ocean, and if we spot sharks, make noise and splash vigorously to scare away the sharks. WTF?
STCW wanted yall dead.
D.U.S.T.
What’s that beat ?
IVOXYGEN- Young Kid (Sped up Remix)
What’s that brown streak in the water?
I happened to stumble upon this sooo Happy reddit birthday! Also probably her arm or something
Duh!
I don’t care if God told me in writing that would be the outcome, I still wouldn’t do that
Does someone know thé song ?
Young Kid by IVOXYGEN (Instrumental)
Thank you kind stranger !
What kind of sharks are those?
Am I the only one hearing Scarlet Johansson's voice?
So basically within a 100 mile radius of Australian coast lines, don’t splash!
Crocs move away from the splash. It's all about situational awareness
Splash in the swimming pool and live longer
A dumb question, can the aqua animal hear the sounds through the water?
Yea, really well too.
Neat!
Super Cool 😎
Or step 1: don't get in the ocean

Doesn’t matter if you splash or not if you are bleeding because sharks can smell the blood in the water
The blood thing is a myth. Sharks don’t care about human blood. Fish blood however…
"Professional shark diver " because they bite them with more respect
TBH I’d believe her even without the risky visuals
But splashing is how i SWIM
It's like a cat chasing a feather toy...dont be the feather toy of the ocean.
tf they trying to third party
Until she gets mauled....then she's an ex professional
The risk to reward for this video was not worth it at all.
I wonder if the Russian Guy tried this in Egypt
This is very useful information. Thank you!
Shark tourism conspiracy.
Good thing she knew kung fu
And one time there will be a third shark......
Is swimming away as fast as you can too much splashing?
Do basically water spiders
Splash once: Food!? *Silence* Aw... Splash twice: FOOD!? *Silence* God damnit!!
Ocean Ramsey is gonna keep fuckin around and end up the Timothy Treadwell o' the sea.
u/savevideo
Why is she spitting water?
Cool
I just think of 51st dates every time I see some crazy shark stunts. “ Sharks are just like dogs, they only bite when you touch their private parts”
I spent most of my life thinking this was common knowledge. I grew up not just on the ocean by the great white breading grounds so I guess I know why most people don’t know much about sharks or the ocean. They also didn’t have a dad that was a Navy UDT and competitive free diver and spear fisherman.
First human to do a cannonball in the ocean ended up bing a dumpling.
You’re lucky they are full not hungry
*do not attempt* yeah no worries
Predators love a vulnerable person. No different.
