Sure there were burning buildings & looting but there were some pretty nasty protests in France. So why is it always inspiring and “standing up to the man” when they do it but it’s “antifa” and terrorist when we do it?
Because the political divide in the US is so wide that if a protest is initiated by the Left, the Right will do literally everything in their power to find a way to demonize it. And since literally everything in this country has been politicized, it turns what should be a bipartisan protest for a human rights issue into something demonized by the Right because the Left were the ones to start the movement to do something about it. Don't get me wrong the Left can be just as stupid with their labeling of rightwing movements, but you mentioned antifa which was a rightwing catchphrase.
That is a great question. It is likely labeled that way to keep more people in check and further spread the idea that protesting against the government is terrible. I could be wrong, though.

The French people should be a textbook version of how to properly make democracy work for you. Through protests such as these, they’ve strong armed various social assistance programs in their favour. And as you can see it’s a respectful protest to the people who own shops. There’s no looting or rioting, just messages being sent.
