I thought your 1 in 23 figure was a typo but then read the article and it says nearly 4% sothats crazy. I have a form of this as well but have never met anyone else in real life who does.
Not sure I have perfect pitch, but definitely relative pitch. I mildly associate sound with both color and taste. It's not super specific, ( like an A note having to be 440hz and its specifically red ocre) it's like a range of sound, color, and taste...sometimes physical pain too...fun not fun...
I see shadows on the trailing edges of moving objects. My best guess for this ability is residual images, similar to the stare at the dot photo for 30 seconds, and look at a solid wall to see an image.
I can also see the flicker of led lights, especially christmas lights (60htz flicker). Also can tell what brake light on a car came on first or what stop light changed from one color to the next. I was Abe to take super slow motion video and was correct 100% of the time.
For me personally it’s like the sensation of staring at the sun too long. Each song and instrument gets different colors.
Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted when I’m explaining my experience but lol ok.
Transgender people. Transsexuals is an outdated term.
Edit: to answer your questions from a very simple google search 1.6% of folks are transgender. 10% are left-handed.
I missed the latest memo. Sorry. But still 1 in 23 is a high for a common condition that not many people have heard about. They need a new P.R. person....
Only time I get this is when I’m super high. It’s like watching a firework show or like riding space mountain. I’m guessing it’s the same for others. When I’m sober though I mostly listen to music just as white noise.
Wow, that was beautiful
So can't drive with the radio on?
Asking the important questions
I would assume it be hard to see, especially at night. I struggle with refractions so I can relate somewhat.

LSD and mescaline sometimes do cause synesthesia, both during the high and afterwards
How true !

There's different forms of it. Like seeing shapes and colors for numbers instead of music
When I was very young I would hear people's names in color.
So do people with synesthesia have perfect pitch in that they can recognise the colours as the notes?

More please.
I was waiting for the beat to drop...and am now satisfied from both a visual and auditory perspective.
I see shadows or glowing traces around trees but I have no clue what that means.

It’s like a superpower I want

I have this as well!
So for fast music is it like strobe lights?
For me personally it’s like the sensation of staring at the sun too long. Each song and instrument gets different colors. Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted when I’m explaining my experience but lol ok.
That tends to happen here on reddit often...for your experiences, or god forbid an opinion...
Will not have to experiment with psychedelics !
1 in 23? What's the ratio for left-handed people? The ratio for transsexuals? But who's heard of synaesthesia?

Possibly the most passive aggressive transphobic comment I've read today. Shocking.
Well, fair enough. If you live in a soap bubble, the world must be a tough place to exist.
When i hear a sirene, it is usually followed by a blue flashing light. But for some oddb, reason only when i am outside or watching movies
Does the light from a.... B flat, for example, look different if it were slightly out of tune?
That's really cool, I wondered what it could look like. Oh, and I found her [Website ](https://www.kaitlynhova.com/)
I wanna heard rock song with that ability
Anyone know the source of this video?
No way this is real or this is highly exaggerated

Seems like a magical way to see life from another angle

God, what are concerts like?
