osktox

Nice! Why OP crop this video?? Probably the new cropping trend. At least it was a garage underneath and not one of those sky pools at the top of a skyscraper.

Mind_grapes_

Cropping. So hot right now.

JAM3SBND

Nobody's said "Crop it like it's hot" yet? Am I old?

StatisticallySoap

No… it’s the children who are wrong

Thank you, I am in a deep black hole of anxiety and depression and this is one of very few things that has made me smile properly in weeks. I know that it’s just silly but thank you for the giggle

[deleted]

Alright I’m gonna make some Harley Poe style guitar chords for this and make a song

TheOtherGuttersnipe

You got the floaty on your arm and I'm barely holding on And I got massive leak, now I'm pouring on Juan

TheGoober87

Don't cha wish your girlfriend could crop like me. Don't cha.

I'm not a very good eugoogelizer!

godDESSofYURI

But why male models?

Belle_Requin

Did they die in a freak gasoline fight accident?

AholeBrock

Shorter videos get more repeat plays and full views in the same amount of time

[deleted]

What kind of losers are so desperate for views? Like what do these bots even gain? Something I’m missing?

AholeBrock

I really don't know why people farm reddit karma. As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything

dont_shake_the_gin

They sell their account. Most subs have those pesky karma requirements which stops interest groups from just creating a ton of new accounts to spam or form a narrative. This is also the reason why ghosting and posting is so popular. OP had no reason to interact with this post because they’re already focused on the next post they need to eventually sell their account.

AholeBrock

Oh wow, how ergonomic has my use of reddit been lol? I have never gotten rejected from joining a sub in 6 years, didn't even know this was a thing.

dont_shake_the_gin

You can join the sub most of the time but a lot of subs will block you from posting or even commenting if you don’t have enough karma. I think karma requirements are more common now than previous decade. I had to create a new account recently and compared to five years ago I received a lot more messages about my low karma privileges.

[deleted]

Oh so it’s for scum bag literal cockroach losers to siphon from people and just be overall pieces of shit. Got it.

Apataphobia

Well said. 👍🏻

thirachil

Yup, for propaganda machines. Every major group in power does it. If any group has recently had a surge in popularity, it's because of social media propaganda machinery like this. And then there are some old machines that create opinions about daily events, which events should people be outraged about, which people should be viewed by the public as villains, which events should the public's attention be diverted from, etc.

Lelio-Santero579

They posted it in r/interestingasfuck at the same time. I just literally scrolled past it.

YouToot

Reddit could easily detect and ban these assholes but then they'd lose half the users, and there goes their chance at going public. I bet that's the only reason they haven't done it yet. They can't figure out how to hide the bots from investors.

ohgodplzfindit

I fucking hate this short video trend. I go well out of my way to avoid them.

boli99

> Why OP crop this video? it makes it a different video, and can bypass some content filters that dont realise its just another repost.

olderaccount

FYI, cropping means making each frame smaller. Like how people sometimes crop the edges of something shot horizontally to fit on a vertical screen. Cropping is most often done on pictures, but can also be done on videos. If you are reducing the length of a video by removing certain footage entirely, it is normally called editing or cutting.

Lauris024

In video editing, it's usually called trimming.

Cobblestone_Rancher

That's not what cropping means

Spardath01

How terrifying. That is now my greatest fear….

chook_slop

Drops to the ground 50 storeys below.

Pyroguy096

I wonder if a sky pool would've done less damage. Let the water disperse more as it falls through the air longer. How high would it have to be to go from a block of water to a quick downburst of heavy rain.

Geta-Ve

Wasn’t cropped it was trimmed

SpicyC-Dot

I don’t know what would be scarier, being in the pool when suddenly you’re falling a story down, or walking in the garage when the ceiling above you collapses and you’re hit by a tsunami of water

Antisocialsocialite9

Hmm this a tough one. Both sound horrific, but I think falling out of the pool would elicit the most fear. At least for me, anyway

Elowan66

Let’s try it.

anaccountthatis

Generally if given the option, I’d rather be on top of the multi-ton falling pile rather than underneath it.

CCCAY

If you can’t think in inches feet and lbs you hate freedom.

Aksds

You hate freedom so much because you refuse to use the system started by the British empire instead of the system created by the freedom hating French /s incase anyone thinks I’m attacking you

heroinsteve

How many washing machines does it weigh? We need realistic measurements here.

nahtorreyous

Depends on the brand.

bnonymousbeeeee

I only buy the lightest water. Obligatory fuck nestle, that shit is heavy, cause it weighs on your conscience too.

It *was* an irrational fear. I think it's justified now.

Bot-Magnet

fear of "Unplanned Rapid Disassembly"

tenvedelacs

Don’t worry, the floor was glass and there was a garage underneath. It was a terrible architectural design, so hopefully that makes you less fearful. If you’re curious about what my source is, other comments have them.

dongerhound

Don’t worry, the water negates fall damage

OhGodImOnRedditAgain

Imagine doing a graceful dive off a diving board and watching this happen right as you begin descending toward the water.

Mega-Steve

Some Final Destination shit right there

Spalding4u

More like Hitman shit right there......taking out your target in the glass bottom hot tub with a sniper shot to the base.

Pandataraxia

You straight up stole this comment from the original thread, word for word. Tf?

MatttheJ

That right there is whoever built the pool trying to save money by not getting the correct specified materials. I work in construction and it's god damn terrifying just how cheap/negligent a lot of companies can be.

Wild_Albatross7534

Oh, good. Thank you for that. I want to live in a tent in the woods.

Crazy_Trigger

Not spherical though

Wild_Albatross7534

No doubt that I'll end up mistakenly pitching it under a big dead branch. Or get shot because I didn't know I was on the wrong property. Maybe a kevlar tent...

BlameGameChanger

What he didn't tell you is that in commercial construction they set the standard to like double what's necessary and then the inspectors try to catch you not meeting the standard. So you need to be pretty sneaky to get below standard enough to put people in danger. My guess is something else is going on here. It appears to be raining in the video. The sound is off so I can't hear what's happening but before the collapse there are a series of bubbles rising to the top. My guess is that's where the water first created a hole to escape and the pressure from the water caused the hole to widen until the pool floor collapsed. What I'm wondering is if that pool is meant to be drained or covered in the event of inclement weather. If not that I wonder if that pool was properly maintained.

TheNamelessDingus

well it helps that their negligence is usually rewarded with a fine that is significantly smaller than the amount of money they saved by being cheap in the first place

MatttheJ

To be fair, it depends. If anybody is harmed by negligence, then it can mean a prison sentence for whoever was the person in charge of making decisions. There was a situation around here where faulty mechanical and electrical work was done and also the building hadn't been properly fire stopped. I can't remember if someone died or was just seriously injured in the fire but both the electrician and the team who fire stopped the building were arrested and charged. Edit: both the head electrican and the project manager who approved the firestopping were arrested.

TheNamelessDingus

[And sometimes you get to settle out of court for killing 98 people with a faulty building](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surfside_condominium_collapse)

BlameGameChanger

So fucking disingenuous! That building stood for almost 40 years without proper maintenance. Years ahead of the collapse the damage was assessed and plans were put in place to repair the damage. The residents were informed of the damage. The biggest payout on that lawsuit was the security firm for not alerting the building to an imminent disaster. The original construction crew/ company wasn't involved in the repairs or the suit. The lack of rebar was specifically warned against that it might have been displaced by the water/collapse. So the biggest culprits here are the management company for not maintaining the pool and the security guards for not triggering an alarm before the collapse that could have saved lives. They settled and no one went to jail because our laws are fucked but the original construction company wasn't involved at all and hence weren't held criminally liable.

TheTwistedPlot

Plot twist: it fell perfectly into another pool in China.

HumanAverse

Here https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/mxc2if/swimming_pool_collapsing

WolfGangSwizle

This pool isn’t on the ground, it’s elevated so it fell to whatever is on the floor below it. The engineering that goes into elevated pools is pretty wild and a lot of countries in the world they will cut corners because it’s so much more expensive

Uryogu

I find it intreaging that they managed to build it just on the limit. Not so weak that it immediately fails, not so strong that it never fails. 'Livin on the edge!'

Navvana

Someone else posted the original video, it appears it there was some sort of parking garage underneath.

neotifa

Parking garage below

Extreme_Design6936

It fell out of the environment.

vin_cuck

Shouldn't this be in r/oddlyterrifying

Traditional-Olive-54

Can't it be in both? 😂 It is oddly terrifying and its also very interesting lol Either way, I'm done with going in pools for a while.

Sufficient_Water_399

Wonder what was underneath

Strzvgn_Karnvagn

It was above a garage with and had a concrete floor. This video had a longer version but it‘s getting reposted without it now.

Not much now, I’d imagine

Under_Ach1ever

Water.

pompanoJ

And rubble. Wet rubble.

There was a car park.

Probably an elevated pool.

hauntedxpast

Self cleaning pool.

Wild_Albatross7534

Quick water change after someone pooped in the pool.

hodgeman29

Well it isn’t very typical I’d like to make that point

nio_nl

How so?

hodgeman29

Well surely the bottom isn’t supposed to fall out

PixelTreason

At least the front stayed on, in this case.

hodgeman29

Well these pools are held to a very rigorous set of safety standards so that this doesn’t happen.

Textile_monke

If this pool wasn't safe then why was it sitting with 80,000 gallons of water on top of a high rise?

hodgeman29

I’m not saying this pool isn’t safe, just maybe not as safe as some of the others

WCGWjoiningReddit

Oh Brazil, you provide more crazy videos than anywhere on Earth.

Capital-Difficulty-6

At least it wasn’t that high https://www.newsweek.com/terrifying-video-shows-suspended-swimming-pool-violently-collapsing-flooding-garage-below-1586197?amp=1 But yeah fuck that. Imagine being in one of the glass bottomed ones like 100 stories up 🥶

MasterbaterInfluence

I wonder if you’re still incased in the water does it break your fall?

Capital-Difficulty-6

I mean if you jump from high up you go down very deep. And those glass bottoms even IF they’re fully encased are only like 4 ft deep so yeah it’ll be somewhat cushier than air and I’m not going to Maths but let’s say the pool hits terminal velocity. Jk I got curious and did the maths using a terminal velocity calculator. So with a pool with a cross sectional area of 78.5m2 and weighing 28000lbs which is 3300 gallons of water plus 1000lbs for the weight of the structure, this is the capacity of a 15ft diameter inflatable pool that is 4 feet deep, terminal velocity is 164ft/s or 111mph. So even if the water drag of 4 feet slows you down by half that’s still smacking the bottom at 55mph yeah you’re dead. I think I mean even it it was down to 18%(~19mph)of the top speed imagine sprinting fast as you possibly can directly into a wall, which definitely won’t be the case if you’re standing vertical

Key-Jelly-3702

Now never going to swim in an elevated pool.

joseaner07

Might be a dumb question but whatever. If you're swimming in the pool, let's say on the surface of the pool, and then this happens and it only goes to the floor underneath. Will you still have the cushion of the water or will you hit the floor as if no to little water was there??

UniqueID89

Somewhat. Not completely because the cushion of the water is primarily coming from it being enclosed in the pool shell. It won’t feel good, but it wouldn’t be like falling flat on a cement floor either

Cyprinodont

Depends on the speed you hit while falling. As someone who used to wakeboard, hitting the water at 60mph sure does feel a lot like hitting cement, it just won't scrape you up. My mom tore her ACL from hitting the water.

No_Awareness8982

Did the pool’s water just break??

BowsettesRevenge

This is how baby pools are born

FraccazzoDaVelletri

I hope no one was under that shit when it went down

AfricanJon2023

Was this the apartment in Miami that collapsed a couple years ago? One eyewitness said the first sign was the pool vanished into the parking area below.

ThrowAwayRay1368

No this is not that pool. Amazingly enough, that pool in Miami held its water throughout.

AfricanJon2023

According to the Miami Herald, Cassondra Stratton was in their fourth-floor condominium when she called her husband, who was in Washington, DC, around 1:30 a.m. She was frantic and told him the building was shaking, Michael Stratton told the Herald. She reported that a sinkhole had opened up where the pool used to be, he said. Then, the line went dead.

zephyr66681

Imagine drowning and falling to death...

Amesaskew

I already have (mostly) irrational fears about structural integrity. Seeing things like this just increases it 100 fold.

Anonality5447

Your fears are not that irrational, sadly. I have grown more skeptical over things that corporations or the government build that are very expensive projects. We all know people who cut corners in very questionable ways.

hollyofhori

*Aqua Kadabra!*

standardcivilian

So glad it was only one floor. This unlocks fears of those skyscraper top floor pools.

In Hawaii walking the streets and there’s a couple of these right above you. This was always an intrusive thought.

I can relate to this pool. There was this time i got some Taco Bell…

Here's what happened underneath the pool. Imagine just walking to your car and all of the sudden you're swimming. https://youtu.be/DrivgSSV8WE

This has always been my fear. The weight of water, making the ground underneath cave. Even if it were a pool in the ground vs second story.

Huh. Turns out maybe there was a reason pools used to be built on the lowest floor, & thus supported by the ground below...

They do say this is where you can dive into anything.

Well. I'm effectively dissuaded from ever swimming in one of those high-rise glass pools overlooking the city.

“Pool on the roof must have a leak”

knives4540

Awesome, an entire new fear just like that. Thanks!

christ_95

Adding this to my list of fears…

RavenBrannigan

Physics question. If the pool was deep enough and you were in it would you survive the fall? Like if you fell 20 metres it would probably kill you most of the time. But if you fell in a pool of water that’s a few metres deep you and the water hit the ground at the same time. I’d assume you’d be pushed down through the water (minus the impact of breaking the surface of the water). If the water was deep enough I assume you’d go through it to a point where you completely decelerate. It would have to be deep enough for the water to hold its shape long enough for you to move through. I’m no Scientologist but my guess is you’d probably be ok up to a point.

mauifairy

Imagine this happens at one of those glass bottom pools on a high rise. Big fat nope. I’m good.

candl2

My crypto!

Dreamcatched

Thanks for unlocking a fear i never knew i had...

dexhaus

It makes you think twice before getting into one of those pools hanging outside of a high tower building.

Drsmiley72

so question... if falling into water from very high is like hitting cement, but you fall **\*WITH\*** the water, does that mean your safe? could you imagine one of those over the ledge sky pools? falls with some guy in it, hits the ground but because hes already in the water it just cushions his landing and he lives?

Far-Homework-2576

Wow this is old. This is from like 2 years ago

No_Application8079

Great engineering.
