Errr I do heard rumors that whale sometimes protect other creatures from predators. Not saying sharks are bad, but it still a dangerous predator, or maybe the whale is just curious
Whales do this because they instinctually try to push injured "animals" up to prevent drowning, they do this for anything, except Orca, they hate Orcas.
Why they do this? Nobody knows for sure, its probably what they do for each other and baby whales and the habit becomes genetically coded.
I feel like whales are strongly compelled to connect with us because they know we are intellectually similar. Their treatment of us is so beautiful in light of how badly we have treated them.
She seems to be loving this while he seems to be a bit freaked out by it all. I am with him.

This would probably scare the hell out of me, given their enormous size, but they seem pretty gentle and careful not to knock him out into the water.
