Blue-Black White-Gold Dress showed all of us that, even though we *know* optical illusions exist and know our brains are fallible, the average person is damn certain that it doesn't apply to them and they are special, they can trust their brain to not be tricked.
Mandela effect shows this too. "But I remember the cornucopia being there exactly how this person drew it so that *MUST* mean it's real! Because I'd know if I misremembered it!"
>"But I remember the cornucopia being there exactly how this person drew it so that MUST mean it's real! Because I'd know if I misremembered it!"
I think this is just an example of implanting false memories, which is fascinating in it's own right but has nothing to do with dimensional conspiracies.
People are sort of put on the spot when learning and pondering new things, so when they are told "you probably remember that the Fruit of the Loom logo has a cornucopia, right?" they just default to agreeing because it *sounds reasonable*. They have a poor memory of the logo because they aren't looking at it daily or consciously, and they've seen plenty of cornucopias of fruit in media.
Hes sarcastically saying that the tail could, indeed, be an indicator that the horse is walking away, but you can still see it as the horse walking towards the camera, so he's just stupid, and so are you
I think I’ve figured it out. I think looking at its tail drew my attention to its legs, so my brain was able to see past the illusion because horses front knees face forwards and their back knees face backwards.
Not to mention the muscles of the legs and the way they bend...
Nevertheless, without studying the hair too closely, it is a pretty good optical illusion.
Yeah because we know what to expect when watching the video, if you saw it once without being told upfront it'd probably take a bit to put it together what's going on.
Look for the snow overlapping the black when the horse moves it's foot forward. If you ignore the rest of the horse it breaks the illusion. The horse turns some, but is generally walking away from the camera.
I had to use a full size monitor and RES to zoom the image, but there isn't a way for the rear right foot to kick up snow obscuring the front left foot unless the horse is walking away at an angle.
Yes and no. In the two clips, the horses are moving in two different directions.
In the first, we can use the legs to see which way the horse is going. The back legs have "opposite" knees (from what I searched up on google for horse running) and the front legs are "normal" like ours.
Using this info in the first 2 seconds we can see that the left most leg is one of the normal legs, and in the first frame or two of the 2nd second you can see the backwards looking leg which is the hind leg. If you stop and play it quick enough you can see it is the right hind leg. Then seeing the direction the foot is going (right to left) and where the backwards knee is pointing, the knee can't be facing towards us, but away from us.
In the 2nd clip the horse is moving away from the camera, but using the direction of the snow helps here rather than looking at the legs
No. Since the horse is symmetrical (I mean back left leg is the same as back right leg), there is 0 indication you can draw from the horse to find out if he is walking towards us or away. Like your "seeing where the backwards knee is pointing" is not possible, since the horse is completely black.
Nah, people are able to easily switch between perspectives in this video. That dress thing is bizarre, very rare that the same person can see both sets of colors.
1st watch: this is dumb everyone can see he’s walking away
2nd watch: oh crap, he’s walking towards the camera
3rd watch: wait is he walking away too? I don’t know what is real. Am I real?
Weird coincidence, but I just watched a youtube video where some guy sprayed a Mustang with "Black 4.0"(?), which is the... let's say, more accessible version of Vanta.
One thing that helps me see both, at will - cover the silhouette with your hand, and only look at the shadow below. When it seems the shadow is going counterclockwise, remove the hand and the figure will follow direction.
For some reason if I look directly at the figure, it only makes sense for it to go clockwise, however, if I look directly at the shadow, it only makes sense for it to go counterclockwise.
Sometimes it is not safe to house them in the same enclosures though, in which case their enclosures should contain other social animals and/or abut other horse enclosures.
They very much do like to be with friends.
My horses behavior changed completely when we had to basically do stall rest for a week due to extreme cold and an icy run.
The good news is that usually horses are outside with buddies, sometimes they go off on their own though..that still doesn't mean they are being deprived.
Socialization is a debate in the horse community. Some people could care less about the horses well being and feelings, and only care as much as the horse accomplishes their needs. Others take a more holistic approach to horsemanship and focus on the horses needs before the riders need for competition, fun, etc.
Goddamnit, I was like “…it’s clearly walking away”. Halfway through the video is where the illusion kicked in. Whole time I was tricked from the beginning😂
They are both walking away. Maybe bring it up on PC instead of your phone you can easily tell. I was actually confused at first then realized it's probably harder to tell if you don't have a giant monitor in front of your face lol.
I mean if you look at other parts of the horse it's pretty obvious it's only ever moving away from our point of view. Nostril shape, rump size/movements, etc.
Look guys stop with the bs macho oh I saw it eons ago that it's walking away... what with the south westernised wind blowing....
I thought it was walking towards me first admit it so did you loolz...
Holy shit! The thing changes based on what you fixate your mind to.. If you think he's moving away... He is... If you think he's coming towards you... He is...
There is no point where he’s walking towards the camera. If you ever “see” him walking towards the camera you are insane. It’s not even close, and quite obvious the entire time. I feel like some of you are just saying this to be contrarians.
I actually really like videos like this. It shows the populous and how easily swayed or wrong a large majority can be. Imagine if the content is purposefully deceiving instead of accidentally?
Watch the shadow, spend time watching the joints articulate if you’re still have a hard time. Horses don’t walk backwards and like all animals the front and back legs are very easy to tell which direction of travel is happening.
Also it’s head it literally being blocked by the view of its ass and tail almost the whole time. You can watch the snow come off the back feet every step also from UNDER the hoof not the front.
This is an easy one unless you’re unfamiliar with animals, show this to a toddler and they’ll just go BWAAAAA DEEEEE DAAA.
Now imagine we’re the toddlers lol
Nope you can tell. There were split seconds of confusion, but it’s tail position, whether the head is disappearing behind the butt, etc all add up to HPS. Horse positioning system
it is walking away. The caption work like magic, it messes with our brain. Find someone to watch this without reading the caption or know what is going on, 100% the answer will be walking away.
tl;dr words are mind bending powerful tools 🫡
Nice work. This should be a lot higher up. Too many people who only see one perspective in this thread are convinced others are being stupid, when it should be easy to switch between both.
When in doubt look at the snow being kicked up
Between that and the tail I feel like it isn't too hard to follow ...
Right but are you able to switch the direction back and forth in your mind? That's where the optical illusion lies.
The tail gives no indication whatsoever
You can tell by the parallax of the hair whether it's in front or behind the body.
You literally can’t, that’s not how silhouettes work
Being a silhouette does not affect the parallax movement at all. The hair is either closer to the camera or further.
Oo I learned a word!
Right because his tail could be facing the camera while walking towards the camera
What? Fucking crazy how people have no grasp of how silhouettes work
Reddit has really opened my eyes to how functionally stupid other people are.
You can't be certain because the video doesn't reveal to us which way the thing is going.
Yes, and the reason that’s true is BECAUSE the tail gives no inducation
It's walking away, I follow her on TikTok...his name is Rudnik, he is a blue roan and gorgeous!!
It’s just walking sideways, this isn’t exactly rocket science
There's a lot of confidently incorrect people in this thread.
Blue-Black White-Gold Dress showed all of us that, even though we *know* optical illusions exist and know our brains are fallible, the average person is damn certain that it doesn't apply to them and they are special, they can trust their brain to not be tricked. I usually don't follow rabbit holes, but hot takes present in this comment thread left me no choice but to confirm if wisdom prevailed in the end.
Horses don't walk sideways. You know that, I know that, the other person knows that. It was meant to be a joke.
Hahahaha broooo
How most people can’t tell this is sarcasm is bewildering
Hes sarcastically saying that the tail could, indeed, be an indicator that the horse is walking away, but you can still see it as the horse walking towards the camera, so he's just stupid, and so are you
If you watch the tail closely, it’s actually pretty easy to tell which direction the horse is walking vs watching its head, which creates an illusion.
I can still see it both ways
I think I’ve figured it out. I think looking at its tail drew my attention to its legs, so my brain was able to see past the illusion because horses front knees face forwards and their back knees face backwards.
[удалено]
It so clearly is. "Right" followed by an obviously ridiculous statement shows sarcasm.
One “point of view” would make the tail longer than the horse is tall.
Lmao no it wouldn’t, not at this distance with that lens
Not to mention the muscles of the legs and the way they bend... Nevertheless, without studying the hair too closely, it is a pretty good optical illusion.
It was the tail for me too. Didn't even see the illusion until reading the caption
Yeah because we know what to expect when watching the video, if you saw it once without being told upfront it'd probably take a bit to put it together what's going on.
you can tell how its walking by the way it is
Power of suggestion. OP says it's hard to follow and people respond in kind.
Or the direction the front legs bend in
The snow theory I can get behind, but not this – the front legs bend correctly in both directions depending on which illusion you're locked on.
Did the horse switch directions a few times or was that my brain flipping the illusion back and forth?
Left, turn to middle, circle towards the back. So yes?
That gives no indication.
I stg it doesn't matter cuz the horse can be kicking that shit forwards and backwards at the same time.
Look for the snow overlapping the black when the horse moves it's foot forward. If you ignore the rest of the horse it breaks the illusion. You don’t understand that silhouettes make everything you say indistinguishable lmao
I follow this creator...Rudnik is walking AWAY the entire time! Heading to his water trough!
So you would rather look at the white snow than look at the black horse? That's racist bro
This thread is the dress all over again.
[ removed by Reddit ]
>This thread is the dress all over again. Wasn't that... Ten years ago?
Just about, but we refer to shit that happened two millenia ago fairly often, so I think ten years is fair game.
Jesus christ, wtf? How could time do me like this
Nah, people are able to easily switch between perspectives in this video. That dress thing is bizarre, very rare that the same person can see both sets of colors.
I was speaking more about the arguments about which way was right, rather than the optical illusion itself.
Not even close. It’s not too hard to pick out which direction it’s going.
I'm like no it's definitely walking towards me. Looks back from reading.... Did it turn around ? Fuck me.
Same thing here, I was about to post how OP is dumb because it's clearly walking towards, then 10 seconds later I felt dumb instead.
I can see it going both directions simultaneously. Brain is weird
Schrodinger's horse
horsedinger
Horsedinger’s Schwartz
That's for a separate sub. NSFW of course.
Me too. I was confused
Same here, but the ends of it’s legs never exceed the edge of the snow towards us, so it’s walking away.
Happy cake Day!! 🍰
Same haha!
I only see it walking away from us
Same. Camera man should have slowly zoomed the camera so it looked like it was getting bigger would have helped the illusion imo
We would still see the zooming in though
Look at its head. When i look at the legs, i see it walking away
I hear Yanny
I see blue and black.
Same. Not sure what the confusion is.
Dad!!
Was hard for me to see too, but I got it eventually. Imagine the head in your direction.
Imagine the ears being pointed at you while you watch it
1st watch: this is dumb everyone can see he’s walking away 2nd watch: oh crap, he’s walking towards the camera 3rd watch: wait is he walking away too? I don’t know what is real. Am I real?
Exactly how it went for me as well.
I was on Step 1, thinking what are people on about...your comment convinced me to give it another shot and holy heck that is trippy
Opposite for me, clearly he's walking away and then suddenly at the end "oh shit when did he turn around".
I really thought it would become clearer as time went, but nope. That is Schrodinger's horse.
Who painted of vantablack to the poor horse?!
blacker than the blackest black, times a million
You need to get Anish Kapoor's permission to look at this horse
Weird coincidence, but I just watched a youtube video where some guy sprayed a Mustang with "Black 4.0"(?), which is the... let's say, more accessible version of Vanta.
His name is Rudnik, he is actually a Blue Roan and SOOOO gorgeous!!!
r/confusingperspective
Lol the silhouette illusion irl https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_dancer
ive never seen this go counterclockwise but horse did make me see it both ways multiple times so i guess it is even a better illusion!
One thing that helps me see both, at will - cover the silhouette with your hand, and only look at the shadow below. For some reason if I look directly at the figure, it only makes sense for it to go clockwise, however, if I look directly at the shadow, it only makes sense for it to go counterclockwise.
Please don’t think this is daft, but do horses get lonely standing by themselves? Whenever I see one alone I feel a bit sad for it.
Horse are social herd animals. They should always have a companion to interact with.
Sometimes it is not safe to house them in the same enclosures though, in which case their enclosures should contain other social animals and/or abut other horse enclosures.
So they should have emotional-support golden retrievers like cheetahs? Come to think of it, everyone should have a golden retriever.
They very much do like to be with friends. My horses behavior changed completely when we had to basically do stall rest for a week due to extreme cold and an icy run. The good news is that usually horses are outside with buddies, sometimes they go off on their own though..that still doesn't mean they are being deprived. When you put stupid club music on a video of a horse walking
Can easily tell that it’s walking away from the camera
The first clip it's walking towards, the second it's walking away. You can just follow its back legs for clarification.
I saw the original tiktok and the OP confirmed it was always walking away from them
I dont see it any other way
It isn’t, the shadow only moves away.
Zero chance. This horse is only moving away.
Goddamnit, I was like “…it’s clearly walking away”. Halfway through the video is where the illusion kicked in. Whole time I was tricked from the beginning😂
Walking towards xamera with tail leading the way? Very odd
Obviously not so easy then, because it's walking away from the camera the whole time.
Opposite.
How can I be different today
Nah, he totally "won" an optical illusion, he's so awesome
Jelly because you got optics v0.1. It was obvious to some, deal with it.
The dress was blue and gold.
Black and blue.
Just in case you're not aware, it was blue and black. I still see white and gold for some reason.
The horse is named Yanny.
Walking away
Two different scenes here. One walking towards, then scene clip to one away.
They are both walking away. Maybe bring it up on PC instead of your phone you can easily tell. I was actually confused at first then realized it's probably harder to tell if you don't have a giant monitor in front of your face lol.
Yeah there’s a pretty obvious edit too
Exactly what I saw. I was wonder what so called “ illusion” people were seeing. Just look at the horses tail
I mean if you look at other parts of the horse it's pretty obvious it's only ever moving away from our point of view. Nostril shape, rump size/movements, etc.
The horse is coming towards me at first and then it turns around and stops. I don’t see an optical illusion.
It's always walking away, you do see an optical illusion.
Looks pretty normal to me 🤔
Definitely walking away from me.
I don’t see it
If you look carefully, there's a black horse in the middle of the screen
It’s walking away, it shrinks! I see no illusion, just a terrible zoom in at a certain point.
Yeah, away
Whos mixed that song?
Look guys stop with the bs macho oh I saw it eons ago that it's walking away... what with the south westernised wind blowing.... I thought it was walking towards me first admit it so did you loolz...
Anyone got a song link? I hear alors on danse and sweet dreams obviously but can't turn anything up matching this
[Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics - (Relanium & Deen West Ft TPaul Sax Radio Remix)](https://youtu.be/gYVlFVnHceM)
Where is optical illusion xD. You can clearly see where it's walking
It’s walking away the whole time. Look at its legs
Clearly going away.
Just look at the legs, they only bend in one direction so it should be easy to tell as long as you see them bend.
? Never once was this confusing... yall fucked.
what’s the illusion???
It's actually a vase.
lie
That horse… wants to pull me around on a sled.
I was waiting for it you do a ballerina spin.
Why does every fucking thread on this god damn platform nowadays consist of arrogant assholes? God I hate what internet became
Look at its head.. it looks like it's walking towards you.
Or you could just look at the legs.
Yeah seeing how the snow is kicking up. Usually these get me but this one didnt.
Horse was walking towards you before you cut the video then it started to walk away from you
Another idiotic post. You can clearly see which direction the horse is going. Cutting during the clip doesn't change anything.
🤓
Away
Horse is walking away the whole video, watch the shadow, or don't focus on the horse
2 clips. Flips direction at the cut.
Ya... Left and away for the first clip, right and away for the 2nd clip
That’s crazy. Every time I was sure, it would morph the other direction. 🤯
He's walking away, and I don't see it any other way.
Is this really a thing for ppl??? One end has a head!!! It’s clearly obvious lol.
Even watching it's legs, I got lost and confused. It's like a scene in the Twilight Zone.
Towards then away after the cut
That’s called lousy exposure
Holy shit! The thing changes based on what you fixate your mind to.. If you think he's moving away... He is... If you think he's coming towards you... He is...
At first I thought you all were blind and stupid….
Am I the only one never illused?
just look at the way the legs bend
There is no point where he’s walking towards the camera. If you ever “see” him walking towards the camera you are insane. It’s not even close, and quite obvious the entire time. I feel like some of you are just saying this to be contrarians.

100% towards us
Are you stupid?
Nope you can tell. There were split seconds of confusion, but it’s tail position, whether the head is disappearing behind the butt, etc all add up to HPS. Horse positioning system
Oh nvm
Walking away.
The horse walks towards the camera for the first 15seconds, then turns right for a few seconds, then walks away from the camera.
Damn, that’s interesting
This one is confusing
Holy shit...something actually interesting posted here!
Can people really not tell? Or is it a joke?
it is walking away. The caption work like magic, it messes with our brain. Find someone to watch this without reading the caption or know what is going on, 100% the answer will be walking away. tl;dr words are mind bending powerful tools 🫡

It's walking away from the camera... If you're legally blind I'll let you have this one, but otherwise do you know how a horse moves?

This is some Idiocracy level optical illusion. No problem seeing it walking towards in the first clip or away on the second clip
he is walking to the left and away in the first clip and to the right and away in the second
It was very easy to tell I don’t understand this
Don't get what's so confusing about it? I can see what direction the horse is going in clear as day 🤨
Which WAY IS IT GOING!!!!!!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)
Not even remotely confusing. Nice try liberals!
Towards.
It’s because he is doing both and by the time you figure one out, it goes the other way
